The Aspire Skystar Revvo kit was one of the most eagerly awaited releases from this Chinese vape brand. Unlike many of the Chinese brands their About page boasts the best English on the block, give or take a few typos…apire skystar revvo main
It tells the story of their early releases, like the Nautilus tank, the Atlantis tank , one of the first mass produced sub ohm tanks and arguably one of the top selling sub ohm tanks since, the Aspire Cleito.

They have created a range of gear that really established Aspire as a respected vaping brand amongst those in the know…gear that opened the doors to the sub ohm vaping which we so know and love.

Nonetheless, it felt like the brand kinda disappeared from vaper radar for a year or two…releasing a score of quality products, only, not ones that really made headlines: until late last year, when the Speeder series hit the shelves, Aspire reared its head and then, this thing of beauty, the magnificent Aspire Skystar Revvo seemed to take over social media channels, sleek, altogether unique and altogether sophisticated…looking. It seems, like Aspire is back with a bang.

The question is really, does it vape as good as it looks and is it a worthy addition to our recommended vape mod list?

Well, what you might not know about this round edged, retro and sexy as hell kit, is that it’s not just an individual on the surface. Aspire is back with a revolutionary innovation, in the form of the Revvo Tank, with its RADIAL coil system.

Its something else entirely…dramatically increasing surface area for flavour vaping. But does it work? Read on to find out, as I put the Skystar and the strange Revvo to the test!

Build Quality & Design

Let me just say that the unexpected arrival of my Aspire Skystar Revvo was a prayer answered (thank you, Jonny!), I had been coveting this kit since first laying eyes on it but, as I prefer to do when reviewing, I conducted no prior research…

I knew nothing about the tank, coils or mod itself, all I knew was how beautiful it was on the surface, so the following all came as a surprise.

Was it a pleasant surprise? Read on!

Skystar Mod

On opening the neat black box packaging, I am greeted by a vision from dreams, my state blue Aspire Skystar, an elongated rectangle so rounded, it’s almost oval, shining like the polished vintage muscle car it must be styled after, my reflection clearly visible in the polished chrome ring which covers the base, top and narrower sides of this uniquely stunning vape mod.

apire skystar revvo screenThe coloured panels (either large side) include:

a) the panel that’s home to the touch OLED, on an elongated black (chrome framed) panel, with the micro USB port at the bottom and an invisible fire button, clicky as it needs to be, at the top.

A strange position for the fire button, hidden within the screen panel but it works a charm and effectively leaves the incredibly beautiful body of the mod uninterrupted.

b) The removable (thanks to two beefy magnets) battery cover, which reveals a perfect battery chamber that keeps your bats separate and safe with a quality woven ribbon for easy removal.

The chamber cover is plastic, which, when combined with the seriously lightweight material that the rest of the mod is made of (could be an aluminium allow, I’m not sure) takes the Skystar down to a mere 118g… a detail that really disappointed me when I lifted out the mod, since I like my heavy gear and the muscle car aesthetic made me expect a heavy feel.

I soon learned, though, that the light weight was no indication of bad quality, just a convenience for people on the move and gals of the more ladylike variety…I like it now, nonetheless.

The battery cover has a small Aspire brand at the top and the base of the mod, chrome finished, bears the Skystar brand. There are no battery ventilation holes anywhere.

The springy 510 is centralized atop the mod, where the chrome covered surface will accommodate, only just, a 25 ml tank diameter.apire skystar revvo 510

The screen is the smallest touch screen I own and while I’m not a huge fan of the reading layout on the main screen, which looks a bit messy to me, I do find the screen bright and the touch aspect very responsive when I first pop in those two cells.

I didn’t know this was a touch screen and on the surface, it doesn’t look like one. 3-5 Ciders in and it took me a while of trying to make miracles with the fire button before I gave in and consulted the manual…as mentioned, I had done no research prior to receiving the mod. I did feel foolish, when I finally realised it was a touch screen.

The hand feel of this mod could not be better, so smooth and shiny (requires a polish now and then) with perfect ergonomics and once the batteries are in, it has a light but decent weight, just right.apire skystar revvo base

I like the position of the fire on the screen, you end up tweaking with the touch screen and firing all with your thumb, at least that’s what I do.

Aspire Revvo Tank

The freakin’ piece de resistance. The tank consist of a thin, knurled, metallic base…a 3ml tank with a skeletal frame, a central ‘barrel’ in heat resistant black delrin, a metallic airflow ring above that, with three cyclopian slots of 1cm each and a delrin top-cap/drip tip in one.apire skystar revvo exploded

The drip tip is a thin walled, massive 810…the thin walls open up the actual shaft so it really is a big open drip-tip and, oddly, this tank looks like an RDTA.

I’m delighted to see that a spring loaded valve system has been employed as a fill method, meaning, you don’t need to open anything to fill this tank, everything happens through that massively wide drip-tip, flip over your juice bottle and press the nozzle down onto the central shaft, squeezing.

I’m expecting to see a coil head hidden within that barrel, above the tank, when I break this baby down but opening it up…I see nothing that looks anything like any coil that I’ve ever seen and, before reading even a sentence about this tank, you’ll excuse me for thinking that Aspire had somehow given me a kit without coils, hahahaha!Aspire Revvo tank parts

I had SO much fun with this.

I was equally surprised to find that the airflow slots don’t open straight into a chamber as expected, instead, air is channel down under an inner barrel, so down inside the walls of the barrel to hit the outer rim of the insanely funky radial coil head. It’s then channelled into the centre of the radial coil, from the rim and then up to you.

The radial coils…OMG, let’s discuss this.

Instead of a cylindrical coil head shape with a coil inside, wrapped in wicking, what we have is a thin disk, like a stove top plate, with a Kanthal grid-work of radial design and a wicking pad below it, with a skeletal frame holding everything in place and an o-ring that makes it pop in easy above your juice tank.

It’s bonkers. It should eliminate the infamous DRY HIT, because the wick is all constantly exposed to your juice (if your tank is full or you make a point of doing the quick flip, which is the key to wicking the Revvo) and what’s more, with this drip tip and this massive surface area of coil and wick (essentially a 24mm circle) the flavour should be off the hook, not to mention clouds.

A funnel shaped mc-gafter screws in above the coil, to channel fog up and out the drip tip. I absolutely cannot wait and I’m pleased that wick absorption is seriously speeded up with this layout.

Accessories

Given that the drip tip is so …open, it’s a good thing that this mouthpiece cover and vape band doohickey is included, trouble is, mine made it’s way out of the box and into history when swizzled friends discovered that it doubles as a ring and completely unnecessary finger cap all in one, which can be flicked at unexpected hosts, only to miss them and fly into the neighbouring plot. Bye bye silicon cap.

Other than that, an extra radial coil is included, as well as the biggest bag of o-rings you’ve ever seen. Thanks Aspire.

How Does The Aspire Skystar Revvo Kit Perform?

Once I got used to the touchscreen operation, I started off pleasantly surprised by the delicious thick vapour, even at minimal 60W setting and I continued to be surprised by performance and power that truly belies this kit’s sleek and almost feminine aesthetic.apire skystar revvo back

I have been unable to find any fault with the Aspire Skystar mod / Revvo tank performance.

Through the Custom Power Setting, Bypass and Variable Voltage, Wattage and TC modes, what I found was accurate readings, a true and even elevated wattage feel, accurate and prompt new atomizer readings.

I tested TC for Ni and SS, as usual and found no issues whatsoever. I also particularly enjoyed playing with wattage curves in the CPS mode, especially with the touchscreen which makes settings so easy to do.

I not only found that the ramp time is up there with the best but, even without any battery vents, operating for extended periods in the 100+ wattage range, heat distribution is excellent, the mod stays cool and performs like a star…a cool blue Skystar!

The weight of this mod is very misleading…it gives the wrong impression and of course, there is a concern that it might smash into a million pieces if dropped (I’m sorry, I’m not willing to test that theory).

The fact is, it performs brilliantly from start to finish and for such a lightweight device, it’s got a considerable talent for heavy and hard, high wattage performance.aspire skystar revvo mod

Which is a good thing, considering the resistance of the included radial coils, considering the fact that these coils will turn anyone into a freaking chain vaper.

The Revvo tank is the epitome of convenience, yes…it feels flimsy and lightweight too but it’s a true winner on the performance front.

First up…you have to love the fact that you can change coils even when your tank is full of e-juice. As for the top fill, ‘just stick the nozzle in through your drip tip’ fill system: I would, sincerely, be a happy reviewer if each and every tank I touched used this fill system, convenience at its best.

The airflow design on the Revvo is innovative and very pleasing. The system creates a truly unique feel on inhale, with the vapour entering your mouth in a ring, nicely distributed and channelled, too give it a restricted feel, even with the airflow open.

As for the flavour and cloud on this tank, absolutely incredible…but I’ll cover that in depth in the coil section of this review.

Suffice it to say that I’m ecstatic to have received this device and it’s one that I will keep coming back to for a long time to come, with truly beautiful performance and such an amazing handfeel.

How To Fill The Aspire Revvo Tank

  • No need to open anything except your juice bottle
  • Press the nozzle down on the central shaft, through the drip tip
  • Squeeze until full
  • Turn upside down to soak your coils and keep doing so periodically while you vapeapire skystar revvo fill

How To Change the Coil

  • Screw the barrel off
  • Screw off the funnel shaped mounting screw
  • Pull out the coilhead
  • Replace

Stock Coil Performance

The radial coils have a resistance anywhere between 0.1 and 0.16, mine are currently sitting at 0.13 and let me tell you, performance is superb.

Right through the coil’s range, that is 50-100W, you will get a vape to rival the very best, with the unique, full flavour profile that you get from the extended surface area, as well as the extreme vapour production.

I literally find these coils brilliant throughout the range, so they vape great at 50W, at 60W, at 70W etc. Personally, I’d say 65W with my morning coffee and 85W with my afternoon (or is it late morning) cider. What a bloody pleasure!apire skystar revvo coiil

With this airflow system, what you have is a perfect balance of resistance and ease, ease because of the sheer vaporizing power of these coils and resistance from the airflow channelling, which if you can believe it, even further enhances that incredible flavour.

You’ll pick it up for an hour, miss the feel of your normal sub-ohm tank set up, try the old set up again for two two hits, at which point you’ll realize that the flavour, cloud and feel really is just the bizznizz on this Skystar Revvo kit and you don’t see any real reason to put it down, prettiness is a bonus.

Vapour and flavour volume and intensity is up with the best at all settings from 50W to 100W.

I vape so obsessively on this set up that I find the tank capacity a little disappointing, double this would have been more sensible, given the VP (vapour production) and FP (get with the program) on this guy. Luckily for me, filling up couldn’t be any more convenient.

How To Operate the Menu System

  • 5 Clicks on
  • 2 swipes up to adjust settings
  • 2 swipes down to access menu
  • 5 clicks to lock and display the real time clock
  • Unlock/lock resistance in TC by touching the lock symbol
  • Right swipe to previous page
  • Confirm settings/return by pressing fire

How To Replace The batteries

  • Pop off the battery cover
  • Install cells according to the prominent markers
  • Replace coverapire skystar revvo chamber

Battery Life

Battery life is excellent for a touchscreen, I’m getting about 9 hours good use of Samsung 2500s at a 65W vape, not bad at all.

Pros

  • Innovative flavour and cloud punching radial coils
  • Top fill convenience
  • Easy to use, battery efficient touchscreen
  • Classy curves
  • Beautiful shiny finish
  • High-performance stamina and TC accuracy

Cons

  • The mod feels a bit too light, this could be very off-putting for some, even with the great performance, the tank has the same feel.

Final Review Verdict

The Revvo tank is a revolutionary, convenient performer and these ‘patent pending’ radial coils will keep Aspire firmly on the flavour and cloud map, in my humble opinion. The lovely Aspire Skystar mod is the pinnacle of retro style, with some serious horsepower to back up the muscle car looks.

I feel that the Skystar Kit belongs in every intermediate to advanced vaper’s collection…it’s the kind of kit even your nan will find beautiful, kits like this make vaping look good, kits like this are what it’s all about, what can I say?! I’m a fan, Aspire, I’m a fan.

And..

Would I buy the Aspire Skystar Revvo kit if I lost/broke the device? Oh hells yes, the white looks insanely good!
