Today we are taking a look at the Aleader Killer squonk mod. A few of you that know me from youtube would know this is not the first squonker I have reviewed from Aleader.

I originally reviewed the X-Drip which is a complete resin mech box squonk mod, wow thats a mouthful!

Aleader Killer Squonk mod review

Design and Build Quality

As I know from previously reviewing the X-Drip, Aleaders build quality is very high.

There is no change here with the Aleader Killer squonk mod, it is surprisingly good for a Chinese made mod.Aleader Killer Squonk mod with RDA

The first quality area which I look for is button rattle, I can confirm this mod is solid in that department with all buttons clicky with no rattle. Another important area is the 510 connection and does it fit 24mm tanks, I’ve been using the Vandy Vape Bonza RDA with this mod and it works a treat with no issues!

The biggest design and quality flaw that trips up most Chinese manufacturers is the battery door panels, the Killer’s panels have no wiggle and no physical imperfections which is very impressive.Aleader Killer battery panel doors

Design

Now let’s talk about the design. The resin colour I received is gold, brown, orange and a little bit of blue. These are very unique resin colours and this is one of the main attractions to buying a resin mod, granted it wouldn’t be my first choice in colours but I don’t hate it.

The last design feature I want to mention because it seems to be on everyone’s mind is that you can indeed vape this mod while charging. I never recommend this and always advise on charging all batteries with an external charger.

The last quality point to talk about is the bottle. There is a debate on what is the best squonk bottle, hard, soft, in between… This one is definitely on the soft side, maybe too soft. Let me know in the comments what bottle type you prefer.

How Does the Aleader Killer Squonk Mod Perform?

The chip is pretty standard with all the modes as you expect, temperature control for all major metals, power mode with a top wattage of 80 plus bypass mode.Aleader Killer Squonk OLED screen

I personally have mainly been using power mode at the max wattage on a 0.24Ω build. Performance has been average with the only small issue being the ramp up time is a little slow.

The temperature control I wouldn’t say is the most reliable I have used, if you are a fan of this mode you should be fine but it won’t perform as well as some mainstream mods.

The lack of curve mode might put off some people but in all honestly it’s not needed. The only things that are missing is wattage adjustment for temperature control and preheat settings for wattage mode.

One thing to consider with all single 18650 squonkers is the power output can be rather weak for most builds. When using a dual 18650 you can adjust the wattage to the build however when you have limited wattage you need to be conscious of how low you are building.Aleader Killer Squonk mod battery compartment

I found the sweet spot to be between 0.5Ω around 50w -60watts, this is the best for flavour.

Battery life can be reasonable when using a 0.5ohm coil at about 60watts, it should last most of the day but not the whole day. I’ve been using it mostly at 80watts and it last a good half of the day.

Pros

  • Very easy to use
  • Very well made
  • Great price for a resin squonk mod

Cons

  • Slow ramp up time
  • No wattage change option on temperature mode
  • No replacement squonk bottle
  • Squonk bottle very soft

Final Review Verdict

Overall you can’t complain about the Aleader Killer squonk mod for the price point.

For £35/$48 you will get you a decent resin regulated squonk mod with fantastic build quality that is easy to use.

It might be lacking in some functionality and not everyone will love the bottle but if we go back a few years a mod like this would be worth hundreds. If you not 100% sure about the Chinese brand Aleader, have your mind at ease. They are fantastic at making mods and this one will do you well.
