Now we’ve all heard of Aspire, and know the quality products they put out such as the Atlantis 2 and the Triton, but not many have heard of the Aspire ESP, a 30w box mod which was Aspire’s first venture into the box mod market, which didn’t quite have the runaway success that some of their competitors have enjoyed.

aspire pegasus tc mod review

Undeterred, Aspire have released the Pegasus, a great looking single 18650 battery mod that sports a 70w output, simple and user friendly system, and also a functional temperature control mode that supports both Nickel and Titanium wire.

There’s also a cool charging dock available separately as well as micro USB charging. You get all this for a really good price for what it features, so let’s move on with our review of the Aspire Pegasus…

Inside the nice looking presentation box you will find-

  • 1x Aspire Pegasus mod
  • 1x Micro USB charging cable
  • 1x Instruction manual

As far as I am aware the micro USB cable is only to be used for charging the Aspire Pegasus and not for upgrading the firmware, as from what I can see the firmware is not upgradeable.

Pegasus Battery / Body / Build

Available in three different colour schemes all with a brushed finish, you can choose from a slate, chrome and brass finish, all of these look outstanding and sport a finish to the highest standards. This also doesn’t seem to be a scratch or finger print magnet, however the chrome plating at the top of the Aspire Pegasus definitely does attract your finger prints!pegasus from aspire tc mod

At the top you will also find a floating 510 connector- this helps with achieving that perfect flush fit for your atomiser. The Pegasus looks especially good with Aspire’s Atlantis 2 or Triton tanks. The build quality really is stunning, it’s a fantastic looking unit.

At the top of the mod you will also see an adjustable wheel- this is used for setting your power. Power is adjusted in 1 watt increments, and the wheel is sensitive, so the harder you twist it the quicker it will scroll through the settings.

Sometimes it does scroll through these a little too fast! At the side of the unit you have a single button, which is your power button. It’s as basic as that and very user friendly.510 connection aspire pegasus

The OLED screen is a highlight, with large font used it displays your power setting, resistance, battery life and voltage clearly and it’s easily readable in both night and day.

The screen also flips left and right as well as you turn the mod, so it adjusts the orientation to suit the user!

The Pegasus takes a single 18650 battery, which you need to supply yourself, and this is inserted through the spring loaded battery cap at the bottom. This is a great feature that gives you very quick and easy access to the battery compartment!

You have options to charge via micro USB or you can purchase an Aspire Charging Dock quite cheaply, which is a cool looking little charger that you simply sit the Aspire Pegasus on and it charges away, this can be picked up from most vendors!

Key Features

  • 70 watt power output for both normal & temperature control mode
  • Adjusted in 1w increments
  • Tactile wheel to adjust power settings
  • Simple and user friendly device
  • For use with 0.2 ohm – 5.0 ohm Resistance coils
  • 510 thread floating connection
  • Stainless Steel hardware
  • Temperature control mode
  • OLED clear display screen
  • Over 12 seconds cut off protection
  • High temperature protection
  • Short Circuit Protection

How Does The Aspire Pegasus Perform?

There’s no fiddly menu systems to navigate- you simply adjust the power with the wheel and fire using the power button, it doesn’t get more user friendly than that!

It recognizes automatically whether your coil is a kanthal, Ni200 or Titanium one, and if you are using a TC coil you simply need to let the coil sit juiced up for a couple of seconds, then hold down the fire button for four seconds, to allow the coil to properly register with the unit that it is a TC coil.

TC does work really well, with accurate resistance read and a really satisfying vape from both Ni200 and Titanium coils.

There’s 70w of power at your fingertips, so the Aspire Pegasus can chuck out plenty of power.aspire pegasus battery compartment

Obviously using the Pegasus mod at this kind of power will drain your battery very quickly, as it is only a single 18650 battery unit.

I can get a full day’s vaping out of this however when using a tank at the 25-30w range, and you have three different charging options! You can pop the battery out via the spring loaded battery cap, charge via Micro USB cable, or purchase a charging dock separately and sit the mod on that.Aspire Pegasus Charging Dock

The chip seems to perform consistently well, with accurate resistance readings, great power output and very good battery life, on par with the outstanding IPV D2, and it doesn’t ever let you down. Excellent performance overall from the Aspire Pegasus!

Final Aspire Pegasus TC Review Verdict

I’m a massive fan of this release from Aspire, it looks good, performs fantastically well and the build quality is second to none. Its very user friendly and I actually had to look twice at the price – I couldn’t quite believe that this was available for the price it was!

Add the charging doc and you have a cool little vape set up.

Aspire have done really well with this, its a fantastic release and one I would highly recommend.

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
