For a number of years, they focused primarily on their cig-a-like starter kit that was marketed towards the new vaper.
It was a little bit of a surprise therefore to see them introduce a bigger e cigarette in the form of the Blu Cig Pro Kit.
This I guess shows that the larger batteries are indeed becoming all the more acceptable to new vapers that are making the switch to e cigs.
So of course I wanted to see for myself if Blu Cigs had released a good vape pen style e cig, so off I went to their website to by the Blu Pro Kit.
In The Box
The presentation box, as with all their other kits, looks very professional. Inside you will find:
- 1 x 950 mAh battery
- 1 x Clearomiser with replaceable coil
- 1 x 10ml Bottle of Classic Tobacco E-Liquid (18mg)
- USB Charger
Design and Build Quality
The Blu e Cig battery in the pro kit is a healthy 950 mAh battery which is definitely a good start. In the hand it also feels like a very solid e cig, the matte black finish is something I personally liked in other e cigs such as the Jacvapour Series S and feels great to handle.
The battery itself is taken from the Kanger EVOD design with a flush firing button that powers the battery.
The Blu branding is subtle with the addition of the blue glowing triangle on the base of the battery when it is in use.
It also features the now standard on\off function by pressing the button 5 times in quick succession.
So very good in terms of overall looks and quality.
Performance wise the Blu Pro battery, as mentioned, has a 950 mah capacity.The larger the ‘mAh’ the longer the battery will last between charges.
This of course does translate into a larger battery but this does also mean prolonged use.
I was getting pretty much a day of moderate vaping from this battery which is all good for me but not really surprising considering the size.
The other positive point with the Blu battery is that it has an EGO thread (one of the most popular) which will work with a whole host of clearomisers and tanks from other brands.
Spare Blu Pro Battery
The kit comes with just the one battery and while it has a longer life I would suggest, if budget allows, to get yourself a back up battery.
This way you will always have an e cig to use when the battery is on charge which can take around 3-4 hours using the USB charger.
There are two different replacement/spare battery sizes from Blu that are available to buy.
The first is of course the 950 mAh and the second is a slightly smaller 650 mAh battery
Both are decent prices but the latter would be just fine to see you through the charging period of the Pro battery.
Overall – The Blu E Cig Pro battery is well built, feels good in the hand and performs very well. Replacement batteries are also a reasonable price. So, a very good start.
How Does The Blu Pro Perform?
There is just one choice with the Blu Pro Kit when it comes to e-liquid and that choice is the Classic Tobacco with an 18mg nicotine strength.
As a long time vaper this strength wouldn’t be my personal choice but for new vapers this is a good place to start.
The other piece of the kit here is the clearomiser, again taken from the EVOD design, it has a matte finish with a subtle blue triangle which is part of the Blu logo.
The clearomiser has two small windows and although they are small they are just about big enough to make out how much e-liquid is in the tank. Capacity wise the Blu clearomiser will hold around 1.8ml of juice so for most should only need refilling once or twice throughout the day.
Filling is simple and done through the bottom of the tank. Just a case of unscrewing the stainless steel base from the black part of the tank, turning upside down and dripping (slowly) the e-liquid down the inside wall, just be sure to miss the centre tube and all will be OK! 
When the atomiser coil, that sits in the base of the clearo, has reached the end of it’s life the flavour will change noticeably for the worse. This is when a change is needed. The coil can be replaced rather than the whole unit.
Here lies a problem though, Blu Cigs don’t seem to have these coils available on their site for sale?
I may be missing something here? Anyway, that only leaves the option of buying a whole new tank that are priced well but ultimately this is overkill.
Flavour
As for the flavour the Classic Tobacco is decent, I’m not really a fan of tobacco flavours but this was pretty realistic in terms of reproducing that flavour.
The throat hit is a touch on the strong side for my personal tastes but then again over the past couple of years I’ve worked my way down to a low strength as well as predominantly using PG/VG mixed e-liquids.
The vapour volume is just OK but this is more down to the e-liquid being 100% PG, this tends to give a stronger throat hit and slightly less vapour than having an e-liquid mixed with VG, but that’s another story.

When it comes to additional flavours Blu Cigs have a small selection of eight juices, the usual suspects are all there such as the Menthol and as well as an additional two tobacco flavours.
Then we have Strawberry Mint, Blueberry, Cherry, Vanilla and NRG which I think (I haven’t tried it) is a flavour similar to Red Bull.
So… not a huge selection but more than enough to keep a new vaper busy for a couple of months!
The Blu E Liquid price is standard for 10ml.
Would be good to see a few options here but then again you can always buy e-liquids from elsewhere, this e cigarette will take any brand of e-liquid.
Overall – The Classic Tobacco is a good version, throat hit is good and vapour volume average. The Blu E-Liquid is only available in 18mg nic strength though which doesn’t leave much room for maneuver.
Blu also don’t seem to sell replacement coils for their clearomisers which is a little odd.

How to Fill The Blu Pro Clearomiser Tank
- Take the clearomiser tank off the battery
- Unscrew mouthpiece from the clearomiser tank
- Drip e liquid down the inside wall of the tank
- Be careful not to overfill!
- Leave your coil for 5 minutes to let the e-liquid soak up the juice
- Vape!

Final Verdict
The Blu Pro Kit is a very solid product, the battery is good and with a healthy 900 mah power capacity at it’s core will last most users a full day.

have tried so many e cigs including blu pro yes very good and reliable too but after a couple of puffs iy loses all flavour from e liquid and tastes foul !! not a clearomiser problem as happens with brand new clearamizers. Would love to find e cig that retains flavour at least aq real cig is consistant. Do wish the manufactuers would address this problem

I haven’t personally seen any free blu cig kits on offer. You could always try emailing them Vivki to see if they have any such promos.
I think Blu are now owned by Imperial Tobacco (might be wrong) but things are going downhill at a rate of knots, and someone there needs to get a grip very quickly.
Like others on here have pointed out, we’re now left holding a load of perfectly good (but now useless) batteries, the new Pro kit is basically, not fit for purpose.
Ten quid spent again yesterday on liquid and Clearomiser. Now useless. Sitting here trying to get anything like a decent draw off it. Kit at Tesco was 14.99 including very good liquid.
Now 14.99 with no liquid. My local shop has two old style Clearo’s left in stock, I’ll buy those tomorrow and use my remaining stock of clear liquid. That’s the end of me and Blu.

I have 4 older batteries, and now have found that the packaging has changed and the version is called Pro!! This won’t fit onto the old batteries, and they’ve even changed the liquid from Classic tobacco to tobacco -which is thick and gloopy and stops my clearamiser from working properly. So I either have to buy new batteries, or use an auction website to purchase the old style clearamisers. What a pain! PS been vaping for almost 4 years now, and can’t stand the smell of cigarettes – so that worked!
Had two weeks leaked and stopped working.
I bought this set after meddling with these small cigarette-like e-cigs, which were a bloody waste of time. This Blu Pro Kit is A LOT better. You can finally get some real vapor and a decent throat hit. I didn’t like the taste of the Blu liquid. It immediately gave me an instant headache and throat ache. Also, I find it annoying that after a 10ml bottle, the damned thing starts leaking and not just a little drip either. It’s not just a single atomizer, they all have serious issues. Replacement atomizers (you have to replace the whole top) are expensive too 🙁 It really is a big disappointment.
Also filling is more of a hassle. Always need wipes to clean up the mess afterwards.
It really didn’t replace my hunger for real cigarettes though, but i kept using it for a relative decent in-between.
Yesterday I thought I’d give it another try and bought myself an Aspire Plato. The difference is night and day! I haven’t smoked a real cigarette since. With the Plato, you can change wattage, airflow, temperature and so on, and it allows you to customize your vape the way you like it. It’s not a perfect thing either (it can get a bit hot if you turn the wattage all the way up), but the vape is nicer, the battery lasts a lot longer, it’s stealthier, has a larger tank (5.6ml) and it doesn’t leak at all.
Had this product for around 6months, easy to put together, I do find I’m changing the clearmosier more often. Battery life is great. I don’t smoke fags atall now, feel great, this is a fantastic replacement. Good liquid flavours,
Pro’s – I like the design (apart from the leaky tank) and the aesthetics.
Easy to fill up, lasts me two days usually and the battery lasts around four days
Con’s – Have to keep it upright to prevent leaks, no lower nicotine juice.
Stopped smoking (unless no charged battery available when out); elegant (small one) reliable & a smooth vaping experience. Weightloss:- Since I started vaping 15 months ago, I have lost 2 stone – my metabolism has increased & I don’t snack – the varied flavours are a treat (sweeties without the calories).

Tried a couple of fags since I bought this product today. Forget them, this does the trick.. easy to use, works straight out of the box and still does. Had a cheap vape for a train journey, this is miles better. I like the small details like the push-button glowing slightly red when locking & un-locking. The triangle base light has a quasi-religious ‘ join-us ‘ vibe which is amusing. The ‘ lovely ‘ description in the instructions is odd. A lot less filthy than cigarettes but lovely? 99 more positive reasons to try this product than not. Pleased I bought it, thanks.

Since the original review blu has changed the tank design you now fill from the top and the viewing window is bigger unfortunately the coil is no longer removable meaning after around 10 refills you need to purchase a whole new tank at £5 a time and after a few refill the tank starts to leak so not a good idea to leave it in your pocket ! The e-liquid is also 100% pg meaning that it does sometimes give you a dry throat I’m not sure if they have also changed the thread on the battery to stop you using alternative tanks but I need to look into this as I might be wrong here. All in all its a good starting point but it won’t be long before you’ll be wanting to upgrade to a different tank and I’m already checking out different e-liquids.
I’ve been vaping for a couple of years now and have my favourite set up down pat… and this is not it. I was travelling away from home and forgot my kit me rather than fork out for a high end replacement I just had a look at the newsagents for a cheap alternative until get home and stumbled across this. The build quality is great and for new vapers this is a good product if looking to move away from cigarette style devices. But for the veteran vaper, this will produce a disappointing vape at best. Vapour will be produced but not in any great quantity and the flavour of the vape is poor. It could be improved greatly if it came with variable voltage to ramp up the power of the device and if it had a 510 connector as well as the eGo style for better compatibility. Vaping will change your life and this might help you on the journey but it won’t be long before you’ll be looking at how you can improve the experience.
I’m happy with it and it does exactly what it says it does so no complaints about that.
The older clearomiser WILL leak until you get the hang of filling it. If you make sure to avoid putting juice down the mouthpiece, and you wipe the coils/threads before you screw it back together, you shouldn’t have any trouble.
I bought this in an off-licence in Paddington. I didn’t plan to stop smoking, but vaping has miraculously made me stop smoking, or to be completely honest, it has made me significantly my tobacco smoking frequency. A fresher breath and cleaner brighter teeth indeed. Oh, and faster longer run! This Blu e-cig came as a starter kit, and when I bought it, it was only for £14.99. Let’s not talk about box mods, mechanical mods, vv, vw, all those advanced vaping kit. Blu Cig, or Blu by Skycig officially, is the most quality vaping pen in my opinion. Of course, compared to the other pens like CE4 etc. They have a solid build and materials, classy design with black matte colour, and a cool triangular blue light at the end, compared to those glossy, plastic pens that are in the same market.
Leaking? Yes it does happen all the time, until I taped all the threads in the tank with that white rubber-y tape that plumbers use to tighten screwy stuff. I really forget the name. Having done that, I get no longer leaking from the tank.
Liquid? Buy other liquids and keep the complimentary Blu liquid away from children and animals. I can never get used to the taste, and they only have the 18mg nicotine strenght. I prefer 3-12mg ones now as smoking urge has reduced significantly.
The coil and wicks in the clearomiser will burn over time and you will need to change as it tastes different and produces less vapour. In a Blu stockist, you can get a replacement tank for £4, but I found a pack of 5 replacement coils and wicks online only for £3’s. As of today, Blu has released it’s new tank that MUST be replaced with a new tank as you can’t get access to take the coil off the tank.
So, overall, this is a good and satisfactory product. It also has a good price for its class. I rated 4 stars because there is always a room for improvement when it comes to customer satisfaction.
