The Geekvape Ammit 25mm RTA is the latest ‘upgrade’ in the Ammit series and has been much anticipated by vapers the world over.

The original Geek Vape Ammit 22mm had a few issues but was generally well received as was the dual coil version.

Geekvape Ammit 25mm RTA – Bigger With a Superb Build Deck But How Does it Vape?

This brand new model is obviously bigger and includes a brand new build deck – that I have to say is fantastic – and comes with a 5ml tank extension AND an 810 adaptor.

We’re not just talking a plastic adaptor either – you’re getting a complete top cap which will enable you to pop in your favourite Goon style drip tip.

So and like I’ve touched on – the original Ammit had some leaking issues reported by a lot of vapers out there – has Geek Vape tackled this sticky issue?

Let’s take a closer look.

As always my thoughts and opinions are mine.

Inside the Box

Standard Geek Vape no frills box – not sure what the retail version will look like as mine simply states Free Sample with a sticker telling me what it is – no instruction manual in mine either.

Inside you’ll find:

  • 1x Geekvape Ammit 25 RTA – 2ml version
  • 1x Expansion adapter
  • 1x 5ml glass
  • 1x 810 drip tip adapter
  • 1x bag of accessories

Key Features

OK this is a single coil build only and features the famous ‘3D airflow system’ – which in effect means the airflow is coming from 3 different directions – underneath and from both sides through a series of tiny air holes.

As build decks go this is about as simple and straightforward as it gets and it’s about 18mm wide – more on that later.

ammit 25

It has adjustable dual Cyclops style airflow and also juice control.

There are four airflow settings and each has a decent stopper with a nice click to it – so once set it will take a bit of pressure to move it.

It will come fully assembled in a 2ml TPD / TRPR format however Geek Vape has included a 5ml tank with an extension adaptor.

Whilst the drip tip is a typical 510 – Geek Vape has shied away from including one of those crappy plastic 810 adaptors and has instead included a separate top cap which Goon style tips fit beautifully – nice touch.

ammit 810 adaptor
Goon style drip tip NOT included

However, you won’t get all the benefit of an 810 drip tip given the chimney size remains the same width.

It’s more of a 24mm tank at the base bulging out slightly above the airflow control ring but barely noticeable if I’m honest.

There’s the Geek Vape name nicely engraved on the top cap which I found also made for a bit of a grip when screwing on and off and Ammit and the head of the beast is also engraved on the chimney.

On their website Geek Vape suggests the Ammit is: ‘compatible with higher wattage of up to 70w’ – however I had a 0.34 ohm build in there and pushed it to 90 watts and it seemed to cope admirably – though I did eventually settle at 57.5 watts.

Design and Build Quality

It has to be said the GeekVape Ammit 25 is a beautifully machined piece with everything fitting snug.

The threads are super sweet though the chimney can be a sod to get on and off if the legs of your coils are even slightly protruding so snip them in tight or you’ll mess up your build as I did more than once!

ammit 25mm on mod

Design wise it is a beautiful looking RTA – especially with your own drip tip.

It looks good in the 2ml set-up keeping a low chunky profile and just as good with the extension tank fitted.

I received the stainless steel version – which looks awesome and black – gold and a funky blue are also available.

The design of the deck is standout for me with one closed post hole and one open.

What that means is building is so simple even a fingers and thumbs kinda of old dude like me found it a cinch!

Stick and secure your first coil leg into the closed hole and simply slide the remaining leg into the next – easy!

How Does the Geek Vape Ammit 25 RTA Perform?

Right let’s look at building and most importantly wicking the Geekvape Ammit 25mm – because let’s face it the Ammit 22mm seemed to have a lot of vapers – including experienced types – scratching their heads due to leakage – as a Google search shows:

OK I used the last of my Geek Vape 2:1 fused Clapton coil – 24ga/26ga – 6 wraps and reading 0.34ohms – as you can see there’s plenty of room in there for bigger builds.

Wicking the Ammit 25mm RTA

Now this is where my troubles began.

I wicked using Cotton Bacon and on the first wick I fluffed the ends and dropped them into the juice wells covering the ports before priming the coils.

ammit 25 wicking

They had plenty of room to breathe –and were certainly not stuffed in.

I kept the 2ml tank on and dutifully filled it with the juice ports and airflow holes CLOSED.

I let it sit for a few minutes before opening up the air and juice flow and —- leakage.

Not just a dribble either – full on tank empty.

I checked everything was screwed in tightly [it was] and took it apart and cleaned up the bloody mess.

For my second wick I used a little more cotton and after fluffing out the ends trimmed them a little so they were almost touching [rather than touching]the bottom of the juice wells.

This time I closed the juice port but opened up the airflow – again leakage from both the airflow and for some reason the base – not as bad as the first time but still significant.

For my third wick I opened both the juice ports and the airflow and had slightly less leakage and with the tails of the cotton barely touching the deck.

Ammit 25mm RTA Wicking – Help from the Vape Gods?

After half a dozen re-wicks I hit Google for answers. Seems like many are having the problem with Geekvape Ammit leaking coming in second on the search!

You have to remember that I’m not one of those Vape Gods off YouTube – I’m your typical every day vaper who has more than his fair share of daily cockups – now that’s definitely ‘keepin’ it real’ lol.

leaking

And as I expected every single video I watched showed these ‘proper reviewers’ extoling the virtues and the absolute lack of leaking from the Ammit 25.

No help there then lol.

So – it must be just me – as usual.

However somewhere in the back of my mind I remembered having the exact same issue with another RTA early on in my self-build journey.

The solution to this was to close the air flow and juice ports whilst filling – screw the top on as quickly as possible – then turn the tank upside down and opening them back up.

This I seemed to remember created a vacuum – I actually think it was our very own Mike Murphy that gave me that solution.

Well blow me down if that didn’t work perfectly!

Absolutely no leakage whatsoever and I was finally getting those air bubbles from the juice ports telling me it was now wicking beautifully.

BTW on my ‘why is this bloody thing leaking’ Google search I stumbled across an old Reddit post that suggested popping a spare O ring into the top cap to help create a vacuum and stop the Ammit from leaking.

I’ve done this too and found if I don’t turn it upside down to open it up – I still get a tiny dribble!

Like I said I tried everything!

UPDATE: a few hours after I filed this review our old friend Vaping With Vic posted his video review.

Lo and behold he also mentioned the leakage issue and suggests its the cotton becoming over saturated and touching the air flow – this may be the reason I’m getting leaks through the 510 too.

He suggests opening the deck up and gently pushing the cotton down and away from the holes.

I tried this and can report it that whilst I was still getting a little seepage [on a fresh wick] it was considerably less.

So How Does the Geekvape Ammit 25 RTA Vape?

I began at 47.5 watts and the flavour was surprisingly good and with my Illusions Vapor ejuice. With a 70VG / 30PG mix the vapour production was excellent.

However cranking it up to 90 watts things did warm up a little too much for me and as I’ve already stated I found a very happy medium at 57.5 watts.

ammit single coil

I don’t think you’ll win any cloud chucking competitions – but flavour chasers will love it.

What I Like

I love the design and look of the Geekvape Ammit 25 RTA – it really is a stand out piece of kit to look at.

The deck is probably the easiest I’ve ever built on with that one open and one closed post hole making it a dream work with – it will take some big old coils too.

The inclusion of a 5ml tank adaptor is fantastic as is the extra and complete top cap enabling you to switch between 510 and 810 drip tips.

It has to be said the flavour on this is phenomenal and well worth the trials and errors to get such a flavoursome vape.

What I Don’t Like

I don’t like the fact that I had such a struggle with this – if there was one tank I really wanted to enjoy it was this one!

Hey that may just be down to me – everywhere I’ve looked no one else has seems to have had this issue!

So apart from my personal leakage issues [sounds weird] which has had me pretty frustrated for the past 10 days – there’s not a lot more I don’t like [even though that’s a pretty major reason to dislike lol].

easy fill ammit 25mm
How to fill the Ammit 25mm

Maybe the chimney is a little too snug – I found that even the slightest barb of a coil leg meant it was difficult to screw down.

One thing to note about that is – and this is serious – on my first attempt at vaping on it I was getting ‘low resistance’ warning from my mod – despite my ohm reader saying otherwise.

I’m now pretty sure this was the leg touching the chimney which could have caused a short – so be aware!

Final Review Verdict

Tough one this because daft as it sounds I really like the Geekvape Ammit 25 RTA!

However – and despite pretty much cracking my own leaking issues [still sounds weird] this is not an RTA that I will ever take out and about with me – I don’t trust it!

For me and this may be down to the way I wick – but it’s just too precious – a bit of a snow flake if you like 😉

I can only review as I see and use vape stuff and for me this one just needs everything to be perfect or else it has a hissy fit – or in this case a pissy fit…literally.

Now other reviewers out there absolutely love it and have none of these issues so don’t let me put you off buying it because when you get this wicked and working it vapes like a dream.

So…

Is the Ammit 25 going to become my go to RTA?

I don’t use many RTAs – more of a RDTA vaper – so nope – I’ll stick with the Cleito 120 RTA and the Augvape Merlin Mini – not had one leak from those two and for me that’s extremely important.

But like I said wick it right and you’ll have a great vape!

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... geekvape-ammit-25mm-rta-reviewedGet the wicking right and I mean spot on and you have one hell of a flavour chasing tank - great clouds too.

  1. Never had a leaking issue with this tank. This is only the second rta I’ve ever tried to wick and I absolutely love this thing the flavor is amazing.

  2. I had the exact same experience that you’ve had with this Tank, having decided to give Ammits a second chance after suffering leaking hell with the dual coil Ammit.
Just about to give up really since I still can’t get it to stop leaking already, and there’s seriously nothing I hate more than a leaky tank!
And like you, I have been enjoying an RDTA (Azeroth by Coilart), so if this doesn’t work out, I’m giving up on tank vaping altogether.
Other tanks that I have that have leaked at one point (but way less than the Ammit)
    – Smok Big baby beast
    – Serpent Mini (maybe once in a lifetime)
    – Revenger NRG
    – Tobecco Supertank Mini
    – Smok Vape Pen 22
    – Kensei RTA by Vandy Vape

Probably gonna pick up the “Leak proof” Zeus if I will ever buy another RTA, even though I’m pissed at Geek Vape cause making that one is in itself a confession that all their other tanks leak.

Sorry for the rant, just had to vent, so frustrated

  3. Thank you for this review. My Ammit was leaking as well until I found your article THANK YOU!!
Where can I find that same GOON STYLE drip tip you have please??

    • Hi and glad you managed to sort out the leaking 🙂 the longer I’ve used the tank the less leaks I’ve had I reckon in part that’s down to better wicking on my part maybe – but it can be a fragile little flower if it isn’t 99% right!
As to the drip tip I think I got that one off ebay after searching Goon style 810 drip tip – a guy in the UK was selling them 🙂
