Are The Chicken Shop E-Liquids Finger Lickin’ Good?
The Chicken Shop e-liquid range comes from the same team behind the hugely popular Cheap Thrills juices.
I had the pleasure of reviewing those and whilst they were indeed tasty – they did just tip the a little too sweet scales for me personally.
This new range comes in bright coloured cartons mimicking the type you see I’m guessing from a fried chicken takeaway shop – given what’s inside they need to big boxes!
Inside the packaging you get 200mls of zero nicotine e-liquid – FREE nic shots are included in every order – and two empty 60ml bottles and they are 70 VG and 30 PG.
OK that’s the scene set – so how do they vape?
The e-liquids were sent to me direct from the Chicken Shop/Cheap Thrills – thank you – free of charge for the purpose of this review.
As always my thoughts and opinions are my own.
So have these juices got me clucking with delight?
Let’s put them to the taste test.
Deep Fried Jam Donut
Chicken Shop Says:
VANILLA / STRAWBERRY / CUSTARD / DONUT
I’m not getting much of the donut at all if I’m honest and only the slightest hint of a ‘fried’ flavour.
On the inhale there’s a muted vanilla taste but muted in a good way as in not overpowering.
There’s also the merest hint of some kind of spice in the background which for my taste-buds suggest cinnamon maybe – but again very low key.
Not getting any creamy custard either – however the exhale is very jammy indeed and just the right side of sweet.
This is just the right amount of sweetness and flavour to not be to heavy or claggy and actually makes a decent not to rich all-day vape.
Nice indeed and certainly got much tastier after steeping for a week with the jam flavour really popping.
Chicken Shop says:
MANGO / BLACKCURRANT / TROPICAL FRUIT ICE
The smell off this one is extremely citrusy and I was expecting an almost harshness and throat tickle.
Straight off the shake and vape and the citrus notes were indeed overpowering with more of a throat slap than a tickle.
I left this one alone for a few days and whilst the tangy aroma remained the flavour calmed down considerably.
The mango was way in the background with the predominant flavour for me a mish- mash of fruit flavours’ with the sharpness of the blackcurrant to the fore.
It is a VERY fruity vape that again has an underlying sweetness that hits just the right note for my preferred flavour profiles with the tiniest hint of a coolness [coolada maybe] barely scratching the surface but certainly lifting the flavours.
Definitely an all-day vape and one fruit lovers will definitely enjoy – the more this one steeps the better it tasted with slightly more sweetness taking away that citrus kick.
Clucking Hot Sauce
Chicken Shop Says:
MIXED FRUIT / LEMON / ORANGE / PEAR / ANISEED
To be honest I wasn’t really looking forward to this one – the name certainly put me off as did that one ingredient – aniseed.
I’ve never really enjoyed pear flavoured vapes either – they seem to catch my throat as do those pear drop sweets.
Rather than ‘hot’ this is more like ‘mildly tingly on the tongue’ for me.
It’s an interesting vape with a couple of levels of sweet and sharp fruitiness that are washed off the taste-buds by a slight tingle of warming aniseed.
Not an unpleasant vape – but definitely one for the more discerning and more like an e-liquid from those purveyors of ‘out there e-liquids’ like Decadent Vapours.
Given I have 200mls of the stuff – will I empty that any time soon?
My answer to that is ‘maybe’ though the RDA took a lot of soaking to get rid of the aniseed taste and smell hanging around – which is surprising given the actual aniseed flavour was low key rather than smack you in the mouth hot.
Chicken Shop Says:
MIXED FRUIT / STRAWBERRY / LEMONADE
After over 6 years of vaping and seemingly gallons of e-liquids – I may just have found my perfect all day vape [ADV].
This is absolutely delicious and then some.
The fruit flavours come at you in waves and it’s hard to try to pin each one down individually as it’s a real medley on the tongue.
The mixed fruit is exactly that with a pleasing amount of tartness sweetened up just enough by the perfectly balanced strawberry.
But it’s the exhale when the magic happens.
This is not bottled sweet lemonade – this has that citrus tang that only homemade lemonade can bring and it is wondrous.
But when it hits that strawberry sweet and mixed fruit it comes together perfectly!
Bang on my preferred level of sweetness with just enough citrus tartiness to make this a real refresher.
Absolutely bloody gorgeous and I’m already down to the last few drops of the 200mls!
Final Review Verdict
For such a fussy old sod the Chicken Shop e-liquid range has really surprised me – they are all in their own right very very tasty indeed – finger lickin’ good in fact 😉
The flavours are not smack you in the face overpowering – they’re just enough to keep you coming back for more and all make great ADVs given the sweetness is toned down.
A week steeping and the flavours really do begin to zing off the tongue.
Cloud production is excellent and pretty much as you’d expect from a 70/30 mix and they’re pretty good on the coils too – unlike the Cheap Thrills range which did caramelize them up a little to say the least!
And of course like many e-liquids out there they do pop the flavour a little more with higher wattage.
The standout has to be the Lemon Refresh – I absolutely love it and will be placing an order for more very soon.
One little gripe and that is the bottle tops.
Anyone who’s used short fills will know what I mean when I say you need to ‘trust them’ when filling.
I found that even with the tops firmly snapped in – there was a little leakage and in some instances the pressure of squeezing began forcing the lid off.
Not sure if this was a fault with just my bottles – but when filling do be careful and yes I was that vaper 😉
Otherwise they really are one of the better ranges of e-liquids I’ve had the pleasure of tasting.
