The iJoy Limitless 200W TC box mod is a collaboration between both iJoy and Limitless. ‘Really, I wouldn’t have guessed’….

The two companies have produced (at the time of writing) 5 products together including the iJoy Limitless RDTA, iJoy Limitless XL and the other box mod, iJoy Limitless LUX.ijoy limitless tc 200w review

Although, there is no mention of iJoy anywhere on the mod or indeed on the Limitless website. The iJoy website does, however.

In this review, we are taking a closer look at the 200W powerhouse of a mod.

Inside the box

The perspex casing, smashed to pieces on arrival, contains the following:

  • Limitless 200W TC mod
  • User Manual

Main Features / Specs

  • Custom Chipset
  • Interchangeable side plates
  • Variable wattage / Temp Control
  • 10-200W
  • Resistance: 0.8-5 Ohm
  • Temp Control Wire Compatibility: Nickel, Titanium, Stainless Wire
  • Powered by 2 X 18650 batteries
  • Various safety features

Build Quality and Design

The first thing that is evident with the Limitless 200W mod is that it’s built like a brick.

With the 2 X 18650 batteries installed it has a seriously weighty feel to it. I happen to like a mod that feels substantial, but the size of the box itself is a little big for my smaller than average hands.limitless 200w tc mod in hand

The design is what you would expect from a box mod, there is no messing about here from Limitless, they have kept the aesthetics classic and simple. The cut away corners offer a respite to the square form while offering a comfortable finger rest when holding the mod.lmc 200w tc vape mod

I would have liked to see the fire button on the top corner here, rather than placed just below it. Ergonomically, for me, it would have made for a more comfortable firing position.

Customisation

Limitless are all about allowing for customisations. This mod allows that by removing/replacing the side plates.

On the mod I received for review, mine had the standard red background with black LMC logo. limitless mod dual 18650 battery

There are far more interesting designs to go for such as Aztec, Bandanna, and the Skull Chief Plates. So, a good features for those that like the idea of changing the look of their device.

Top of Mod

The top of the mod features a quality 510 thread with spring loaded pin with lots of ‘give’.limitless mod 510 thread

Mod Edges

Front and Back

The sides of the mod feature the removable plates. These are held in place well by magnets with one of the side plates covering the battery compartment.limitless mod side plates

That is pretty much it. There is no place for a Micro USB port, which of course means no charging via the mod and more importantly no firmware upgradeability. A bit of a disappointment on that front.

Overall, the Limitless mod is quality. Design wise, it’s not my thing. Far to big and bulky. But that’s just a personal preference.

How Does The iJoy Limitless mod Perform?

Menu System

The iJoy Limitless 200W mod features a custom made chipset, it has all the usual features you would expect but the menus system was different to anything I have tried.ijoy limitless mod tfv8 smok

One thing I found from the outset is that it’s a bit of a strange one. Or more to the point, a pain in the arse. I found myself trying to change the wattage without success for around 5 minutes.

OK, I didn’t read any instructions at this point but even when I did I just found myself consistently entering different modes when all I wanted to do was increase/decrease my wattage.

Here are some of the issues I had:

With the tank on and OLED display showing my wattage settings I instinctively press the ‘+’ or ‘-‘ function button to change the wattage.

On the Limitless the ‘+’ button doesn’t immediately change the wattage, it scrolls through you ‘pre-set’ settings (M1, M2, M3).

The ‘-‘ function button doesn’t immediately change the wattage setting down. It scrolls through the three power settings. These settings are PO (Powerful?), SO (Soft) and ST (Standard).

To change the actual wattage I have to do the following.

Press the ‘+’ function button until I reach the M1/M2/M3 setting. When the ‘M’ setting is flashing you then press the ‘-‘ button to enter the wattage changing mode.

This needs to be done every time I want to alter my wattage.

The same needs to be done for temperature settings.

Getting into the menu system to change your coil settings and vape modes is also not the most user-friendly.

5 Clicks of the power button turns the mod off, then an extra press of the power button enters you into the menu.

I’m sure after prolonged use it will become second nature but the menu selecting process just didn’t work for me.

Power Mode

I found myself sitting in the PO (Powerful) mode when vaping in wattage mode and all was good, it provides a nice punchy delivery. I used the SMOK TFV8 at around 120W and all was good. I didn’t get it upto 200W, not a level I vape at personally.smok tfv8 limitless 200 mod

If you’re pumping the wattage right up just be sure your batteries can take the strain. Or if you want to reach these wattage’s go for a ‘three battery’ mod such as the Wismec Reauleaux.

Temp Control also performed as would be expected although my primary ‘go-to’ vape is in wattage mode. So the latter is what I reverted to for the majority of my time with this mod.

For vapers that want TCR as a feature, you are out of luck with the Limitless 200W mod.

What I Liked

The build quality is fantastic and the ease at which you can switch out the side plates makes for a nice customisable mod.

The threading is also quality and all the tanks I tried fitted flush to the mod.

The mod also performed well as you would expect, once you have your settings in place.

What I Didn’t Like

The menu system on the Limitless mod was a headache for me. Even when I got used to the way it worked, selecting the wattage and temperature required too many steps.

I personally am not a huge fan of the looks, but that is just me. I’m sure many vapers out there will think otherwise.

There is no way to upgrade the firmware on the mod which may be an issue for some, so keep that in mind.

Final Review Verdict

If you are looking for a heavy duty, quality device then you won’t go far wrong. It’s not a mod I would vape when out and about due to it’s size and weight but around the house or at my desk, no problems.

The main bugbear for me was the menu system which I found pretty frustrating, so if you have minimum patience then you may want to think twice about buying this mod.

There are easier mods to use out there and ultimately the iJoy Limitless 200W TC just wasn’t a mod I particularly enjoyed for my vaping preferences.

Pros

  • Build quality is excellent
  • Performs well
  • Customisable side plates to change the look of your mod
  • Solid buttons

Cons

  • Menu system drove me nuts at times
  • No firmware upgrade available
  • Too bulky (for me personally)
  • On the ugly side (Again a personal thing)

ijoy-limitless-200w-tc-mod-reviewThe Limitless 200W TC mod is a device that I'm sure will attract many vapers. but, on this occasion not this vaper. A bulky mod with a poor menu system made this just an OK device for me.
