The Geekvape Lucid kit is from a brand that has been impressing the market for years with innovative ideas like the in destructiveness of the Aegis Legend and Aegis Mini, as well as the magnificent Loop and Loop V1.5 RDAs.Geekvape lucid kit main

Geekvape has steadily grown in my esteem with every review as I find their products economical and the flavour and cloud generally outstanding.

What Can We Expect From The The Lucid Kit By Geekvape

When I heard that the Lumi tank included in their Lucid kit was disposable, I was taken aback and thought that maybe they were just taking things too far but after discovering other disposables on the market like the VZone Preco and the Teslacigs One…things started making more sense.

Geekvape is reaching a wider client base by releasing a sub-ohm option that’s truly affordable…this must be one of the nicest looking kits in its performance range for this kind of price but the real question is…how well is a disposable tank going to last and how well will it vape.

Let me tell you, as small vape mods go I’ve been pleasantly surprised.

Build Quality & Design

Lucid Mod

After opening up the neat, orange and black, Geekvape box packaging, I was instantly impressed by the aesthetic of the Lucid kit. The first thing that struck me was the beautiful Lumi tank but we will get to that later.

I received the gunmetal coloured version of the Geekvape Lucid, which is made of an ultra lightweight magnesium alloy that’s totally scratch proof and looks immaculate.

The little, ergonomically perfect mod is shaped like a very squat rectangle with rounded edges, except for the edges connecting the top surface and sides.Geekvape lucid kit back

The side that sits against your palm acts as the ‘spine’ of a raised inlay, which wraps around the mod extending into the larger side panels as a triangle shaped aesthetic feature (on either side). This is accentuated by the fact that it, along with a flush sitting wrap around panel on the opposite side, are a darker shade to the rest of the mod.

That rounded side that sits so comfortably against your palm also features a massive, light grey Lucid brand, which doesn’t rub off and is printed in a very aesthetically pleasing, block-calligraphic font.

The opposite side (which is the side where the 510 connection sits on top) has an overhang at the top, with a small but clicky, elongated fire button below two smaller but similarly shaped indentations (which must be decorative).

Below the overhang is a neat but comprehensive OLED display, with a split button mimicking the shape of the fire button below that.

At the bottom of one of the larger sides with that triangular inlay is a micro-USB port…it’s positioned slightly last of centre, nearer the screen side.Geekvape lucid kit base

Atop the mod is that 510 connection I mentioned, deep and spring loaded but with no SS seating.

On the other end of the top is a raised, round screw on cap, which, when unscrewed, reveals the single 18650 battery chamber. I like this space saving feature, similar to the design of the now antique iJoy Capo 100 mod, which was one of my favourites specifically for the ergonomic details which I see echoed here.

On the base of the mod are a series of arrow shaped ventilation holes for the battery.

Lumi Tank

The Lumi tank is rather beautiful thanks to the fact that the tank, which has a fixed mouthpiece, are all transparent polycarbonate.

Geekvape lucid kit lump tank airflowThe base of the tank has for elongated holes in it, which are a bit of a mystery to me, to be honest.

The base ring, which is made of polycarbonate, is the airflow ring. It has light knurling all the way around and three small airflow holes either side. It sits quite tight and I have found it near impossible to adjust without removing the tank from the mod first.

Above the airflow ring is a chrome looking stainless steel ring of equal width, with a LUMI brand on one side.

The long coil head is visible in its entirety through that transparent polycarbonate and I can see that the four huge wicking ports around its circumference are placed strategically right at the bottom, so that this tank can be damn well near empty before you actually need to fill it.

There’s a fixed silicon stopper in the top cap, which you unplug to fill the tank up.

The fixed drip tip is standard 510 and comfortable.

The Lumi only weighs 15 grams!

The tank cannot be dismantled and the coil cannot be cleaned, so…when it’s done, it’s done so be sure to allow that coil to soak up your e liquid fully before vaping.

How Does the Geekvape Lucid Kit Perform?

The Lucid Mod

I was totally taken aback by this little kit…dynamite comes in small packages indeed!Geekvape lucid kit side

I found wattage to feel true and RAMP time pretty solid, plus with the included coil and tank, you need only vape up to 40W for it to feel like a proper 65W vape. I tested it through the range and am now vaping at 70W with the Wasp Nano RTA and a 0.2 Ohm coil.

I’m having no overheat problems, with the magnesium alloy remaining cool to the touch.

New atomiser readings are immediate and resistance readings accurate, while the TC, which I tested for SS and Ni, seems to be on point, with an intuitive and easy to use UI.

An issue I had from the get go was with the power button, which works perfectly when you use it to fire but which I could never seem to power the device on or off with unless I clicked it at least 8-10 times. This is obviously a bit tiring, especially at times when it took even more, like 20 clicks to power up.

Now, I’ve seen some negative reviews on this mod due to it’s ultra lightweight, plastic feel, which may come across as cheap to some vapesters. The thing is, that for the price, this vape kicks ass and, what’s more, its compact enough to fit in the smallest pocket and perfect for vape beginners who don’t like the idea of a heavy mod in the pocket or man-bag.

How To Operate the Menu System

  • 5 Clicks on or off
  • Left or right to adjust power
  • Fire 3 times to enter modes, left and right to scroll and fire to select
  • Fire 3 times and then left and right simultaneously to enter settings menu

How To Replace The batteries

  • Unscrew the battery chamber cap
  • Remove battery
  • Replace battery with the positive contact down
  • Replace capGeekvape lucid kit battery chamber

Battery Life

It’s not bad, I got about 6 hours vaping on a single Samsung 2500 at 40W before needing a change.

The Lucid Tank

I’ve got to say, I was floored by the flavour and cloud I got at just 35W from this setup.

The airflow, while near impossible to adjust while the tank is on (it should have been placed above the SS ring), is smooth and perfect for a beautiful, semi-to very restricted Direct to Lung (DTL) vape.

I noticed that the transparent drip tip started looking mucky after a couple of days, all nicotine coloured, but a wipe inside with an earbud sorted this out, no problem!

The tank is disposable but still looks pristine by the time the coil starts to burn, with no really visible scratches on the material, even when you’ve been rough with it. Also, my tank didn’t get discoloured inside.

I vaped this tank to DEATH…it gave me solid performance throughout it’s 7 week lifespan (which would be extended for lighter vapers than my vape-mad self) and I was well impressed.

How To Fill

  • Unstop by pulling the tab on the silicon plug up
  • Fill through the slot
  • Re-stopGeekvape lucid kit lump tank refill

How To Change the Coil

The coil cannot be changed and the tank must be disposed of.

Stock Coil Performance

The non-replaceable Supermesh coil inside is made of Kanthal and has a resistance of 0.3 Ohm. It has a range of 30-40W with a recommended range of 35-40W and let me tell you, this is one of the most flavourful, cloud chucking coils I have ever vaped in this range. It’s like drinking your bloody e-juice it’s just so…damn…tasty.

I was concerned about the lifespan, since there’s no replacing the coil…it’s the whole tank that needs replacing when the coil is done. My fears have been quelled. After 3 weeks I had a minor scare when I tasted a slight burn but it was a false alarm.

I lowered the wattage slightly (I’d been set at 40 all the time and then lowered to 35W) and vaped happily on the coil for another 2 weeks, day in and day out before finally deciding that it was starting to taste dodgy. For someone who is not a mondo-uber-psychopath-turbo-vaper like myself, this 1.2 months will translate into two months and maybe more so it is, in fact value for money!

Pros

  • Compact and fits in a small pocket
  • Ultra lightweight
  • Affordable
  • Good power and TC performance
  • Clean aesthetic
  • Very ergonomic
  • Exceptional cloud and flavour for this wattage
  • Good lifespan on the tank and coil

Cons

  • Faulty power up and down button, required extra clicking

Final Review Verdict

If you’re a new vaper or making the transition from an e-cigarette or plus ohm device and you’re keen to start on a sub-ohm device but want something easy to use and affordable, the Lucid Kit by Geekvape is perfect for you. You simply couldn’t ask for better flavour and cloud in such a lightweight and affordable package.

I’ve enjoyed the Lumi tank and the incredible super mesh coil and I’ll continue to enjoy the lucid tank when I need an energy efficient and compact vaping solution.

And..

Would I buy the Geekvape Lucid Kit if I lost/broke the device? Yes
