I’m a big fan of Innokin vaping products so to get my hands on the brand new Coolfire Pebble kit made me a very happy vaper.innokin pebble review

To coin a phrase you’d have to tear my Coolfire 4 TC 100 out of my cold dead hand such is my love for it so the Pebble with the Slipstream tank will have to be something special to become my ‘go to device.’

BTW my mom had a little cute but very annoying yappy little dog called Pebble – so does the new Innokin vaping system leave me happy or yappy? Could we be adding this to the best small vape mod list?

Let’s take a closer look.

In The Box

As far as packaging goes the Pebble comes in a compact little slide-out box with a tiny plastic window so you can see your device.innokin coolfire pebble box

It’s not what you would call ‘classy packaging’ but it does the job nicely with the reverse giving you info on the device as well as your all-important ‘scratch n sniff’ authenticity sticker.

Inside you’ll find:

  • 1x Innokin Coolfire Pebble Personal Vaporizer
  • 1x Slipstream Tank
  • 1x Extra Coil (0.8 ohm Kanthal)
  • 1x Micro USB Charging Cable
  • 1x Spare ‘O’ Rings
  • 1x Spare Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
  • 1x User Manualinnokin cool fire pebble in the box

Key Features on the Pebble

If it’s beginning to ‘feel a lot like Christmas’ where you are – then it’ll feel even more so when you turn the Pebble on and off because you get a very Christmassy red – amber – green light display which looks great on the tiny but extremely clear OLED screen.innokin pebble buttons

So once you’ve been turned on [sniggers] what else do the three buttons do I hear you ask?

  • Press the fire button x3 for on and off [enjoy the pretty lights]
  • Holding the + and – buttons will increase or decrease your wattage in 0.5 increments from 6w to 50w
  • Hold + and – for 3 seconds to flip the screen orientation

And that’s it really – refreshingly simple.

The Pebble picks up your coil resistance with the recommended wattage etched onto the coils.

It comes with 2 X 0.8ohm Kanthal coils with a recommended wattage of 20 to 35 watts.

The coils have 3 juice holes – two large and one small.innokin slipstream coil

You can also get hold of Stainless Steel coils at 0.5ohm with a recommended temperature of 160c – 230c [or 320f – 446f in old money].

The Innokin Pebble kit I received came pretty much fully charged and lasted a solid 8 hours of regular vaping. Re-charging took a little over 45 minutes to fully charge which is very fast.

Pass through vaping is possible – however given the USB slot is in the base you need to lay the Pebble on its side. I had no leakage from the tank whilst doing this and the cable is relatively long.

How To Fill The Innokin Slipstream Tank

Regulars to my reviews will pretty much know by now that I pick up instruction manuals – laugh and toss them to one side.

Before of course returning to them almost immediately when I can’t work out how to do whatever it is I’m trying to do.

So when it comes to filling the Slipstream Tank DO read the instructions lol.

It’s a top-fill which is my preferred style by a mile; however it’s not a simple screw off.innokin slipstream coil topcap

Think of a ‘childproof’ pill box and you will get the picture.

You need to press down on the mouthpiece and twist anti-clockwise – unlike me who happily spun the x3 air-flow holes for a few minutes – ‘childproof’ indeed.

Once open you get a lovely large well in which to drip in your e-liquid making sure you DON’T go over the tiny Max Fill line mark [yeah you know me by now lol].how to fill slipstream tank

The Slipstream coil screws directly into the top/mouthpiece meaning you can leave those last dregs of juice in the tank to swap out your coils – a very easy and clean process indeed – unless you fill over the line and squidge e-liquid everywhere – *sighs*.

Pebble and Slipstream Safety

  • Device cuts out automatically after 15 seconds
  • Short circuit cut-off
  • If resistance falls below 0.15 device will not fire
  • If atomizer not connected properly or above 3.5ohm device won’t fire
  • Auto cut-off if battery over discharged
  • Screen displays ‘Too Hot’ if overheating
  • The Pebble remembers your last wattage setting

Build and Design Quality

I’ve always said Innokin products are for me right up there in the top three of best build and design quality vaping kits and the Pebble and Slipstream are no different.

This little cutie is simply gorgeous to look at with the Slipstream tank the perfect fit.innokin pebble slipstream parts

I can’t stress just how small the Pebble box mod is – talk about Nano Technology – this little guy really tiny as you can see by the photo of the 50p sitting on top of it.innokin pebble box mod

However the design that’s gone into this delightful little vaping device is superb.

It’s obviously matchbox shaped but the slight curves make it a joy to behold and er hold.innokin pebble size comparison

What at first appears to be venting on the top of the Pebble mod is in fact a grip feature that keeps this little guy secure in your hand.innokin pebble grips

I received the black version and the refreshingly rattle-free stainless steel buttons against the OLED screen looks great.

Those buttons really are snug and very nice to click.

The Pebble is also available in Blue – White – Brown and a very apt Stone colour.innokin coolfire pebble review

I’ve mentioned the small but crystal clear OLED screen before but as far as design goes it looks fantastic – extremely clear and the traffic light show is great.

As to the Slipstream tank once again the design is stunning both in practicality with the top fill easy coil swap and the look of the thing.innokin slipstream vape tank

Hand on heart this is one of the best looking tanks I’ve ever seen.

How Does the Innokin Pebble Mod and Slipstream Tank Perform?

Innokin say the Pebble and Slipstream offers ‘Small Size Big Power Vaping’ and I have to agree – this vaping kit is bloody brilliant!

I’ve already said it looks great and by golly at 25 watts on a 0.8ohm coil this little beauty chucks out the clouds – fizzes the flavour and leaves this old man a very happy [not at all yappy] vaper.innokin-coolfire pebble slipstream tank

I took the Pebble through 20 to 35 watts on the Kanthal BVC coil and the clouds and flavour profile were both excellent – with I might add the merest difference in the overall vaping experience – maybe a tad warmer at 30watts.

The Stainless Steel 0.5oh coils were the same – simply superb to vape on.innokin slipstream coils

I’m happily vaping on the Pebble and Slipstream whilst writing this – my Coolfire TC 100 sulking on my desk – and out and about this little cutie pie slips nicely into my pocket before literally disappearing into my hand for true stealth vaping.innokin pebble review

Not more to say on the performance other than this is one of the best vaping kits I’ve ever had the pleasure to use.

What I Like

I love the compact size – the design and the whole vaping experience on the Pebble and Slipstream – this is awesome.

The tiny OLED screen is as clear as gin and the light display is a subtle fun touch.
Charging time is super-quick fast – the battery keeps on keeping on and the ability to pass-through vape is an added bonus.

As for the Slipstream tank – again a fab design and exemplary performance makes this one of the best looking and best performing tanks I’ve ever reviewed/used.

Just buy it!

What I Don’t Like

Ummmm…er…well…at a push and I mean a real push I’d say it’s a little on the heavy side for its size but hey maybe I have limp wrists…or something 😉

Final Review Verdict

I said at the beginning that it would take a very special vaping kit to prise the Coolfire TC100 out of my cold dead hand – but I think the Innokin Pebble and Slipstream might just do that.

I’ll say it again this is an awesome vaping set-up and then some.

If you’re looking for a stealth vaping device – something well built – well designed – easy to use and a joy to look at then stop reading – click the link and buy it!!!

So…if I moved out of Lewis Hamilton’s slipstream and the Pebble was blown out of my hand into the crowd at Brands Hatch would I slam on the brakes hit the pits and hunt for it..?

I would indeed [sorry pit crew] and probably spend all day looking for it before going out and buying three more.

  1. my innokin coolfire pebble won’t charge up at all. I left it for a while without turning the mod off, and now it has discharged completely. Is there a reset on this or is the unit had it?. I have been charging for 4 hrs now and it wont start up dead as a dodo

    • Hey Alan,

Apart from double checking it’s not turned off by pressing the fire button 3 times in quick succession I’d touch base with Innokin on this to see if it is still in it’s warranty period.

    • Hi Brian,

Do you mean this CoolFire mod?

If so then yes. Although the 0.5Ohm coils will need to be used in wattage mode as that mod doesn’t have temperature control functionality.

Not sure what you mean by using the same coil? What tank are you currently using?

      Thanks

      Jonny

  2. Just bought one today, it was charged but after 4 hours its back on charge for the second time, (I don’t consider myself a heavy user). Will see how it goes but will be back to the shop if the battery life is this short.
    N.B. as advised it’s set at 20w and I’m using 6mg – 60/40

  3. Question. My husband bought me this mod and the screen went out in a day.. does this mod have a stealth mode we are unaware of?

    • Hey Jamie,

From what I can see, the CoolFire Pebble Express is just the mod on it’s own. The version we reviewed came with the Slipstream tank.

So, in answer to your question, there isn’t any difference as such, just that it’s available in kit form (with tank) or as a standalone device.

  4. Hey! Brand new to vaping after being a heavy smoker for nearly 40 years. I had no idea what the hell I was buying, so just lucky to pick up a white Pebble coz I liked the discreet look of it, even though it had good power.

Anyway, after 24 hours, I already preferred this to a cigarette. Cant believe I said that!

I had to fiddle around with the settings on the first day until I felt as satisfied as if I had a cigarette, but that was just the learning curve. I’m using it a lot – probably every hour.

The battery last about half a day or so, and yes, charges very quickly and I can vape while its charging. Although I have nothing to compare it to, I think its fabulous.

I have found giving up smoking impossible until now. After 2 days I still have cigarettes with me “just in case” but find it pretty easy to chose the pebble. Love it 🙂

    • I was blown away with the size and simplicity of the pebble and use it out and about as an MTL device – sub ohm wise the battery goes very quickly but at around 19 watts its wonderful – cute too – well done for quitting the stinkies!

  5. Just received one in the post and couldn’t get the stupid ‘child proof’ tank to open, i tried pushing down as it says in the manual but it just keeps spinning (epic fail).

  6. Bought the slipstream .. great tank plenty of vlouds at 20 – 25 watt but before the first coil needed replacing the child proof system stoped working just spinning and no way to open it and refill. its only been topped up about 6 or 7 times with juice — very disappointing build quality –

    • Yes Helen, the Slipstream tank has a 510, removable mouthpiece.

So you are looking for a ‘510 Drip Tip’ or ‘510 Mouthpiece’. There are plenty of places that sell them if you do a little search online.

  7. I have one pebble that works a treat but bought another one today and it’s awful. If I set the watts to 10 it takes an age to get going and i hardly get any vapour. I turned the watts up and it started spitting . I’ve turned it down again and it’s still spitting and the flavour tastes odd. What can I do to set it so it works ?

    • Hi Sharon,

At 0.82 ohms (low resistance/sub ohm) the coil requires more wattage/power than a coil that is 1.53, which is a higher resistance needing less wattage.

So, as you found out, upping the wattage on the 0.8Ohm coil provides the increased power it needs to fire. You can try changing the wattage to something that suits you. The 20W recommended wattage is a guidance.

As for the spitting, yeah… I hear you, can be super annoying! Although not happened to me in a while.

The chap in the shop should have explained that using sub ohm coils would usually require a lower nicotine strength. Due to the higher heat running to the coil a 12mg juice can be super harsh. I personally vape at 3mg and sometimes 6mg when sub ohm vaping.

This can also be the case for e-liquids that are higher in PG. Higher PG e liquids can be harsh with sub ohm coils.

With sub ohm vaping it’s recommended to use a juice higher in VG. Around 60VG/40PG or 70VG/30PG is usually a good spot. These provide a smoother vaping experience and are thicker in consistency providing more ‘clouds’.

      So…

      Recommendations to try.

First off for a quick fix.

Try rolling a piece of tissue tight and poking it down the mouthpiece so it goes into the center of the coil. E-liquid spitting can be contributed to by excess e-juice on the actual coil. Doing this may help mop up any excess to stop the spitting. You may have to repeat this a few times if you feel it spitting again. The coil may well settle down after that.

The coil may simply need replacing. *Could be a dud*. This can happen.

A different e-juice may work better with the 0.8Ohm coil head. Try a thicker VG e juice if you are not already using one.

You can also check out this guide to problems with e cig tanks. May help a little with troubleshooting.

Hope some of that helps. Sometimes vaping is a case of trying different e-liquid/coils etc so keep playing around and don’t let it get you too frustrated 🙂

Let me know how you get on.

      Jonny

    • Hi Helen,

Is the drip tip itself getting hot or are your lips touching the tank itself when you take a vape?

Tanks can get hot to the touch (not just this one0, this is quite normal due to the high temperatures the coils are heating to. Have a look at the following:

      – Chain vaping is usually the main culprit: Could be a case of taking too many draws in a close period of time. Try and leave a little time between vapes. Even 4/5 vapes in quick succession can lead to a hot tank.
      – Try starting on a lower wattage – The coil likely has a recommended wattage and it’s even more likely you are vaping within this. But, it doesn’t necessarily mean you have to vape within these parameters. Try lowering your wattage and try some different settings to see if this helps any.
      – Is your airflow fully open or closed off? If the airflow is closed off to any degree try opening it up fully when vaping.

Let us know if any of the above helps.

      • Its the drip tip that gets hot as well as the tank. I’ve tried as low as 6watts and its still the same. The airflow is fully open and ive tried playing with the settings and cannot find one to suit.

I currently have it set too 20watts with airflow open and it still getting hot, the tank I know will get hot but surely the drip tip shouldn’t?

  8. Every thing about this review is not at all telling of the true performance quality of the device most likely a payed review, I bought one for my girlfriend tried it before hand to see what it was like and to say the least it’s battery life is terrible about a hour tops the tank is just as bad can’t handle thicker fluids all in all just a gimmick item due to its size such terrible product would put me off if I was just starting with it luckily started with a better kit

    • Thanks for your comment Richard – Sorry you had trouble with your kit.

I certainly didn’t and since I wrote this review the Pebble and Slipstream has been in constant use.

Battery life will od course change from user to user depending on the wattage you are vaping at and how much you are vaping. Maxing out wattage plus heavy use can result in battery life depleting a lot quicker.

However, if you’re only getting an hour out of a 1300mAh battery then I suggest it may be a faulty product because I can assure you as a regular user I can get more than half a day out of it . As to thicker e-liquids I’ve used a 70/30 and a 50/50 and the Slipstream handled them beautifully.

As for ‘paid placement reviews’ I’m sure Jonny will clarify that I do not write reviews paid for by companies – online stores or anyone else. (Jonny – Yes I can of course clarify this. Neil gives his honest opinion on the product he has in hand. If his battery was to last an hour or he encountered any other issues then he would 100% mention this in the review)

I review things truthfully – objectively and as I find and experience them – warts n all – and I’m not afraid to give credit where credit is due and this little beauty blew me away.
      Cheers!
