Introduction To The Aegis Legend Kit by GeekVape

The legend is back! And in a completely new form this time around! The GeekVape Aegis Legend Mod is a dual 18650 device that is powered by the new AS chipset that can fire up to an impressive 200w, all on a fancy colour screen!Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Boxed
With IP67 waterproof certification, it has been claimed to withstand immersion for up to 30 minutes at a maximum depth of 1 meter. As well as this, it is shock resistant and dust proof too!Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Size
So does this make the GeekVape Aegis Legend a ‘must have’ for all us accident prone vapers? Or is it durable enough to stand up to the toughest of environments? We’ll soon find out!
The GeekVape Aegis Legend Kit currently comes in 5 different colour combinations. All with a black silicone body, but different side panels, fire buttons and leather inserts. But today we will be looking at the Black and Orange version of the kit.
Torture tests will be added as and when they are conducted! So please come back soon to see what I put this device through! For an idea of what I mean check out my Geekvape Aegis review here. You can also check out Michelles review of the Geekvape Aegis Mini mod here.

This device was sent to us for the purposes of this review. As always, my opinions are honest and my own.

Aero Mesh Tank (4ml Version)Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Side

Drip Tip/Top Cap:

The drip tip is 810 sized and made out of a marbled resin.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Drip-Tip
Underneath the top cap it has a seal to prevent any leakage.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Drip-Tip-2

Top Fill Port:

Unscrewing the top cap reveals the two, kidney shaped filling ports. I would say they’re a little too small for my liking. A few mm wider would have gone down an absolute treat with me.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Top-Fill
I just found them that little bit too small and sometimes I found myself dripping e-liquid over the side.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Filling

The Airflow Base:

On the base we have the airflow control ring. It is very smooth to adjust, but has the right amount of stiffness to not let it adjust whilst it is in your pocket or bag. The airflow holes come in the form of two large cyclops slots. There is also some ‘Aero’ branding on there to aid with grip.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Airflow

Aero Mesh Tank – Overall:

Overall, the construction and look of this tank it pretty good! My main gripe is that when you tighten the top cap a little too tightly, it grips to the top of the tank and sometimes you end up unscrewing the whole tank apart. A little bit annoying, so keep an eye on it when you’re unscrewing!

The Aegis Legend Mod:

510 Connector:

At the top of the device we we have the 510 connector which is more or less central. You can fit 30mm atomisers easily up here. I have been using my Vaperz Cloud X1 RDA on top and it looks pretty damn awesome!Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-510

Micro USB Port:

Towards the front of the mod we have the silicone bung that protects the micro USB port which is used for charging and updating the firmware when they are available.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Charge-Port
As always, I would only recommend using an external charger to charge your batteries.

The Front of the Device

On the front of the Aegis Legend we have a trigger style fire button which has a nice click feel to it and is fireable from different locations on the button itself.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Fire-Button
Below that we have the colour screen.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Screen
You can change into different colours by holding the + & – buttons whilst in the mode selection screen.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Buttons

I have found the screen to be visible perfectly in all lighting conditions and is easily navigable too!

Externals:

Either side of the Aegis Legend is wrapped in a metallic protective c-frame as well as being incased in a silicone rubber thats about 2-3mm thick.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Front
The grip of the mod comes in the form of a leather panel that will be a different colour depending on what colour combination you go for.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Back

The Battery Door

At the base of the GeekVape Aegis Legend we have the battery door. This time around it is a completely different design compared to the original Aegis device.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Bottom
We have the usual branding and venting on the door, as well as a sliding catch that has grooves in it to aid sliding. And believe me, you’re going to need it!
After you have managed to prise open the door, it springs open like a catapult. I’m not sure what the need is for it being springy, but it just is.
On the inside of the battery door, the polarity of the batteries is clearly marked on the gold contact.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Battery-Door
Surrounding the contacts there is a black silicone seal as well as smaller circular seals that I presume are there to perforate in the event of a battery venting.Geekvape-Aegis-Legend-Battery-Contacts

The Aegis Mod – Overall:

Overall, the Aegis Legend mod is a very sturdy and durable mod! I have been using it as an all day mod for two weeks and has withstood being chucked in a van multiple amounts of times a day, as well as being in a constant dusty and dirty environment.
In terms of battery life, I am getting about a day of battery life whilst vaping the 0.2ohm coil at 66w.

Aero Mesh Tank Coil Performance

Mesh X1 0.2Ω Coil (30-90w)

The Mesh X1 0.2ohm Coil is the coil that comes pre-installed in the tank, and of course, the first coil that I have tested out. It is also recommended to be vaped anywhere between 60 and 80w.Geekvape-Aero-Mesh-Tank-Mesh-Coil
I have found that it is best for flavour anywhere between 66 and 74w depending on what flavour you are using. It wicks perfectly, it produces flavour extremely well and my coil has lasted me the full two weeks of testing without any let downs and is still going strong!

Quad 0.15Ω Coil (60-80w)

[Untested]

Pros

  • Looks and feels good
  • xtremely durable
  • Easy to use
  • Waterproof
  • Good flavour
  • Coil longevity

Cons

  • Top cap tight
  • Filling holes a bit small
  • Battery door latch tight
  • Battery life

Final Review Verdict

To round things off, I would say that the GeekVape Aegis Legend kit is a great all rounder device and kit. The tank produces some nice flavour and the Aegis mod packs a nice punch as well. The battery life is a bit of a negative though. I just think it zaps through batteries like mad.

How do i think it compares to the original GeekVape Legend though?

Well, they both had their pros and cons. But in all honesty, I prefer the original. It had a tougher look and felt a lot nicer in the hand without any pointy edges. Yeh, the battery life on that was bad too, but I thought GeekVape would have improved on that this time around…

The Devil Vaper

Hi, my name is Dean and I have been vaping since April 2014. I decided to start reviewing back in mid 2015 as my friends kept asking me about different e-liquids I had tried and whether they were worth buying. So I thought I'd start on Instagram writing written reviews for them to read. Then several months later, I saw that people were publishing reviews on YouTube, so in late 2015 'TheDevilVaper' was born! And since then, I have built a following across social media and I'm reviewing anything from starter kits to mech mods. Budget e-liquids to premium flavours and prebuilt coils to carry cases. To me, vaping is more than just a way to quit smoking. It is now a hobby. And a hobby that I have great pleasure in doing! And if my reviews help people ditch the cigarettes, then it's a job well done. TheDevilVaper

geekvape-aegis-legend-kit-reviewThe GeekVape Aegis is back in a new form, but I don't think that it is as good as the original Aegis in terms of form and feel. I would have hoped that the battery life would have been improved being dual 18650, but unfortunately it hasn't. Don't get me wrong, it's a good kit, but I think that GeekVape could have made it a bit better than what the Legend currently is.

  1. Thing is stupid only micro charger that fits it is one they send with it so when that breaks instantly because its a cheap lead i can no long charge it . stupid design where they put the charger port and no other lead can fit it # wank

  2. Hey! Is it normal for the wattage to jump around (by 0.2 – 0.5 ish watts), as well as voltage when firing? just want to make sure mine isn’t faulty, as it’s my first regulated mod. Also, i notice a faint ticking coming from the mod itself after use, could this be the mod checking coil resistance? Great review by the way!

  3. Think I’ll stick with the original Aegis then. Don’t need more than 100w and battery life Ok (ish) with a 26650 (Ijoy, Golisi or Aspire). Deffo more comfortable grip than the Legend which looks too bulky.

Not keen on the new battery door either, the screw in cap on the original seems way more secure. Also heard that TC really sucks on the Legend but presumably several firmware upgrades down the line that will get sorted out.

Just about the only thing I like about the Legend over the original 100w version is the single metal frame cover around the leather section, but that’s a really minor improvement over the 2 section frame on the original though.

But if you really must have a Legend though, watch out for different colours on the way. I’ve seen navy blue, azure and even rainbow being offered for sale on a certain China site!
