Tesla have been manufacturing e cigarettes and vape mods out of China now since 2009.

Despite the length of time they have been producing vape devices an although a recognized name in the vaping community they have never quite hit the heights of competing brands such as Innokin, Kanger or Aspire.

In fact, the Tesla Nano 60W TC mod is the first Tesla product to be reviewed on ecigclick.Tesla Nano 60W TC review

Long overdue? Possibly so. Lets take a look and see what this little vape mod has to offer.

Build Quality & Looks

The Tesla Nano is quite simply, solid. The first thing you will notice is the weight of this little vape mod. For the size it’s by far the heaviest vape device I’ve had my hands on.

Some may think this is a bad thing but not for me. The weight is complimented by a top quality build. The whole mod feels superb in the hand, sitting perfectly in the palm.Tesla Nano review

The weight is contributed to by the dual lipo batteries with 3600 mAh rating and zinc alloy casing.tesla nano li-po battery

The ergonomics are also well thought of. The fire button is located on a tilted edge for easier access for a thumb fire, or at least this is the way I was using the Tesla Nano. And the 51 spring loaded connection on the ridge above.Tesla Nano review

The fire button itself is big with a nice satisfying, ‘clicky’ action to it. There is slight movement on the button but nothing that would be a negative.

The OLED screen on the side of the mod is well sized with two function buttons sitting at the top. Both of which are solid and well rounded for a good tactile feel.Tesla Nano OLED Screen

On the base of the mod are plenty of venting holes as well as the Micro USB charging port which allows for fast 2A charging with the cable supplied. The charging is quick as well taking me around 2.5/3 hours.Tesla Nano 60W Vape Mod review

The placement of the USB port isn’t ideal for me, I personally prefer these ports on the side so I can stand the mod up right when a tank is on top.

The Tesla Nano cannot be used in a pass though mode either, so no vaping whilst charging here.

How Does The Tesla Nano Perform?

The Tesla Nano has a 7-60W variable wattage power output and a temperature control range of 100 – 300C (200 – 600F).

Resistance ranges from 0.1 – 3.5ohm for VW mode and 0.05 – 1.0ohm for TC mode.

Functions

Working the Nano is super simple, especially for vapers that have used temp control vape mods before.

  • 5 click power button on/off
  • Power Lock: Press power button and down function button to lock your setting. Same again to unlock
  • Temp Control selection: Turn off (5 click)- Press both function buttons together – Enter temp mode – Press function buttons up/down to select either ‘ËšF’ or ‘ËšC’ – Scroll continuously up to come out of temp control
  • Mechanical/Bypass Mode – With mod in wattage mod press the ‘up’ function button all the way up to 60W, one more press of the button will enter ‘Mecha’ mode. Just scroll back down to come out of it.Tesla Nano Mech Mode

To make things easier the Nano will recognize what type of tank you have on the mod. If you have a standard kanthal coil the mod will stay/switch to voltage/wattage mods.

If you put a tank on with a TC coil it will recognize this and ask if it’s a Nickel or Titanium coil. Just select your coil then if it’s the same or new and away you go.Tesla Nano review

So all pretty simple in practice. The mod scrolls through the selections nice and quick the only issue I found was that sometimes I found myself having to press the power button to turn on/off more than 5 times.

But only sometimes! Strange but I got used to it.

The positioning of the mod in the hand and the fire button is great, comfortable and easy when vaping.

Both Kanthal and TC coils worked a treat for me. I was using the Innokin iSub S tank which I find is a great sub ohm tank great for flavor and clouds.

Battery Life was obviously great with a 2.0 Ohm coil at 14-15W. I was touching on 3 days. Sub ohm vaping, the battery was lasting me just over a day of moderate vaping before having to charge.

Thought the 3600 mAh battery would be last a touch longer but still decent enough.

What I Like

The form factor of the Tesla Nano, in my opinion is great. It is weighty for a vape mod this size but I think this adds to the overall quality feel.

I have used this for a couple of weeks, carrying it around in my pocket and bag. Apart for some very minor scratches around the edge of the mod it’s done well keeping it’s looks.

Menu options are easy to use although the mod does recognize a change in coil automatically making things fool proof to an extent!

Charging is fast considering the 3600 mAh battery capacity.

What I Dislike

Not a massive amount in this section. Being picky I’d prefer the USB port to be on the side and not the base but lets face it, it’s not a deal breaker.

I did also find myself on occasion having to press the fire button more than 5 times to turn off but that could just be the one I received.

Last but not least is the lack of pass through function to allow vaping while charging.

Final Tesla Nano 60W TC Review Verdict

The Tesla Nano is one solid built mod. Seriously this thing could do some damage. I like the build and weight though, it feels substantial and it packs a punch.

The mod itself is simple to use in all modes and the battery life will see you through a full day sub ohm vaping.

60W is plenty for my vaping habits, obviously this is something that will be different for all vapers.

Pro’s

  • Solid, quality build
  • Durable
  • Fits well in the had / Good vaping position and form factor
  • Recognizes the difference between Kanthal and TC coils
  • Super quick scrolling through wattage/temp selection
  • Quick charging

Con’s

  • Battery life was just OK when using sub ohm
  • Not compatible with Stainless Steel coils in temp control
  • USB port on base
  • Doesn’t support ‘vape while charging’

  1. great review buddy,iv had it a while and i locked the temp and had to read the review to find how to unlock lol. but its a great solid mod not a tacky little thing i give it 5/5

  2. I have had mod for 3 months and used daily. Great unit, love the design, form factor and functions. Big miss for me is no pass thru vaping, ie whilst charging. I sub ohm at abort 0.3 ohm and generally at 45 and above watts. battery can just about last a full day. Couldn’t believe it didnt have the pass thru, this is compensated somewhat, by the very fast charge rate. To Tim above, the unit is robust but does need care. Mine started playing up, functions like lock, off, up down, occasional not firing, generally failing to function correctly. I removed visible screws and lifted top carefully its still attached by wire to 510. I was very surprised to see e liquid and dirt inside unit. I used an electrical contact cleaner with nozzle to aggressively spray inside the unit. Left for 10 minutes and the unit performs correctly. Considering the unit cost less than £30, I consider this totally acceptable, indeed a bargain.

  3. Greetings! I have the Tesla Nano 100w Steampunk, pretty happy with! A question because use it with Kanthal only, how you select the power mode? Because when you put a SS coil the mod itself automatically gives you the option for Ti or Ni… In the Joyetech models that I have is more easy to select VW (Power) but I don´t know the correct way in this case. Thanks!

  4. I’ve had my Tesla 60W Mod for about 4 months. I’ve taken care of the device, store it in a box and use it occasionally throughout the day, during breaks from the office and at home. The threaded 510 connector is very poor fit and wore out about a month ago. I have three Sub-ohm tanks which fit perfectly in other devices but will no longer screw into the Tesla. Charging at home was an average of once every two days until pins on the USB connector broke off. My cheap phone has a similar USB connector and I charge just as often, however that has lasted for nearly three years. All in all, not happy and after a little average use, not to be recommended.

  5. Been over 2 years since I qui a 25 year habit. Tried everything from the patch, Chantix, even 600 cinnamon toothpicks. Only thing that worked was vaping

  6. Great little mod. Nice feel in hand. Great form factor. And looks awesome. Some tanks/rda’s might scratch the top when screwing down. Specialy were the screws are. But other than that Had no problems with mine.
