The Uwell Ironfist is the first mod from a company that is best known for its tanks, specifically for the original Crown tank that put sub ohming on the map for its great flavour, big capacity and its stylish looks (for the time).

Sub Ohm tanks have advanced a lot since then and this kit comes with the new Crown 3 tank  which hopefully is as good or better then its predecessors. The bigger question however is how good is the mod? This is because the IronFist is Uwells first and currently only mod. Ive put both the mod and the tank through its paces and this is what I found.

Design and Build Quality

Crown 3 Tank

Uwell has been in the vaping game awhile and has made some outstanding products. This kit is no exception. Starting with the tank, it has kept the Crown look we come to expect but with subtle improvements.

Every tread and every o-ring on the tank is perfect and works how you would hope. One of the slight changes from the V1 and V2 is the way you install the coils. All the previous coils have been screwed in to the base of the tank where the new coil is pressure fitted.

This way I believe is better for 2 reasons, firstly it is quicker to install and less likely to leak in my experiences. The second benefit is you can change the coil without needing to empty the tank which is a feature missing from many popular tanks on the market today.

The only design flaw I had with the tank comes with the green / rainbow model where the tank doesn’t really match the mod like the other options and the drip tip doesn’t match the tank.

Uwell IronFist Mod

The Uwell IronFist mod build quality is impressive and its easy to forget that this is their first ever mod. The paint finish is very high quality matt and it has real leather for the grip which you don’t see often from china. The device I’ve been sent has no button rattle, no paint defects and the leather is fixed with no signs of possible peeling in the future.

The design is very ergonomic and sits comfortably in both the left and right hand. Its a similar design to the G320 by Smok however this is slightly smaller as it holds 2 x 18650 batteries where the G320 holds 3.

The Uwell IronFist also has a unique design choice I haven’t seen on many vape mods, it has a switch where you can turn off the mod and consume no power. The only small design flaw with this mod is with the battery door, it doesn’t rattle or come off too easy but it could do with being a little tighter.

How Does the Uwell IronFist kit Perform?

Uwell Crown 3

When the original Crown tank came out it was a major hit as it delivered great flavour and big clouds (for the time). The Crown II was a bit of a flop, the coils burnt up very quickly and had little flavour, this shook a few people’s confidence in the company and a lot of people have been weary about the III.

I can safely say this tank is incredible, the flavour is some of the best I have ever had from any sub ohm tank. This along with great big clouds and smooth airflow makes for one fantastic atomizer.

You can also be reassured that it wont leak, with all my tests with both coils it comes with there was no signs of eliquid leaking and this should be the norm but it is surprising how many popular tanks leak.

Uwell Ironfist Mod

Firstly the menu is very easy to use, a simple 3 clicks of the fire button and your in the menu to select from power, temperature control for Ni, Ti, SS, they also have mech mode which is effectively bypass mode.

You can also flip the screen, lock the device and factory reset the mod. An important point for all vaping devices is how it fits in the hand, this mods design is extremely ergonomic and yes its not the smallest or the lightest but it does feel very natural in the hand.

The easy functionality with detailed display is a pleasure to use and the dual 18650 batteries is enough to last the whole day.

Pros

  • Large capacity tank
  • Ergonomic mod
  • Great looking set up (if you dont go green)
  • Very easy to use
  • Wattage adjusts in 1 point increments + Battery life %
  • Very good build quality

Cons

  • The green kit doesn’t match
  • Max tank size with no overhang on the mod is 25mm
  • On the heavy side of things
  • Not the smallest set up

Final Review Verdict

Overall the Uwell Ironfist setup might be considered large and heavy but that is a small price to pay for the build quality, comfortability, flavour and ease of use.

This kit has been fun to use and I would highly recommend. If you have any doubts about the tank after the v2 or the mod because its their first one, there is no need as both of these products are home runs! Great for beginners, intermediates and experts alike.

  1. How does this compare to the Vaporesso Revenger and NRG tank? That’s what I’ve currently got, and I’m fairly happy but am always looking around…!
    Thanks!

    • Hey Richard,

The Iron fists fits beautifully in the hand and bring me back to the old school box mod days, it’s well built and has a reliable wattage mode.

The Revenger also easily fits in the hand but comes at the cost of finger prints. The benefits like fast charging, lots of mode features and stylish look swing in favour to the Revenger for me.
