The Vandy Vape Apollo Kit (AP for short) is a new waterproof internal battery kit for beginners and Mouth to Lung (MTL) vapers.
Founded in 2016, Vandy Vape based in Shenzhen China the company has grown exponentially in this time, they have a firm grasp and great ideas for the e-cigarette and vape industry.
They specialise in producing and selling E-cigs and Accessories worldwide. Some of their past successes are Pulse Dual Squonk Kit  Pulse BF 80w, Bonza Mech Kit, Pulse X, Simple EX, Kylin RTA V2, Maze RDA to name just a few! Phew…
So what do we think of the AP Kit from Vandy Vape, are we going to go APe over it? Let’s find out with an up and close look.

Design and Build Quality
The AP Kit come well presented in a card box with a paper over sleeve.
AP MTL Sub Tank
Made from Stainless Steel, Pyrex and Delrin, the tank measures 38mm tall with a 22mm diameter, the tank dismantles in 7 parts (Inc the coil) for easy cleaning.
The quality and design of the tank is good for a basic sub ohm tank.
Base and Airflow
The base has all the expected information engraved on it.
The stop airflow (AF) is fully adjustable with a 6 dot AF that range in size from the largest 2.5mm to the smallest 0.6mm.
The base has threading inside for the coil and outer threading to screw into the main tank section. 
Coils
The tank comes with 2 coils – 1.5Ω and 1.8Ω – both ideal for mouth to lung vaping at 7 to 13w, the coils feature horizontal coils but the tank is also compatible with the BSKR coils.
Main tank section
Comprises of 3 parts, the glass tank, coil cage/chimney and fill port.
This section is easily dismantled with the use of the included tank tool,
The fill port has 2 good sized kidney shaped slots.
Top Cap and Mouth Piece
The Top Cap screws on to the fill port and has a silicone stopper inside it to stop any potential leaks.
To finish off the tank you are supplied one pom or propriety drip tip made of Delrin.
AP Mod
Covered with a Thermoplastic Elastomer (TPE) and a silicone rubberised material, the Vandy Vape Apollo Mod is reported to be IP66 waterproof (testing later) shock and dust proof.
The mod is very light weight, it has an internal 900mAh battery and is very simple to operate, looking at the mod from the front you have a large fire button.
A row horizontal of battery indicator lights and a row of vertical volt indicator lights. The volt range is from 3.2 to 4.0 volts in .2 volt increments, the volt markings are the same colour as the covering of the mod which can make them hard to read in low light.
Below this are rubberised adjustment buttons
Plus a micro usb port with a rubberised cover. 
The top of the device has a stainless steel 510 connection with well turned threading and a non spring loaded gold plated connection pin.
Each side of the mod has 5 coloured plastic plates with the back just featuring 3.
The Vandy Vape AP mod measures in at 76mm with a diameter of nearly 28mm, the design is well done as is the quality, there are 5 different frosted colours available, the version I received was frosted cyan.

Please empty the tank before changing coils or you will make a mess!
AP MTL Sub Tank
- Screw your choice of coil into the base cup
- Pre-wick the coil before use
- Screw the tank back together and remove the top cap
- Fill the tank with your choice of e-liquid
- Replace the cap
- Let the tank stand for a few minutes before first use
How Does The Vandy Vape Apollo Kit Perform?
For this review I have placed the 1.5Ω coil into the tank and filled it with apple rhubarb crumble from Ohm Baked with 20mg salt nic.
3.2 to 4.0 Volts
For a standard sub tank I would say it functions ok nothing stellar here, the vape starting at 3.2V with the AF set to the smallest hole (0.6mm) is very tight, the saying sucking a watermelon through a straw comes to mind LOL.
However, moving the Volts up to 3.6 with the AF open to 2.0 resulted in a warm vape the vapour production and flavour was acceptable with these settings for a mouth to lung vape.
I personally prefer the AF open to its fullest (2.5mm) and the Volts set at 3.8V.
Mouth Piece
The Drip tip, sorry I’ve got to say, I hate it! It is a Propriety drip tip or sleeve tip you only get one in the box, if you lose it you are stuffed. I have a good collection of tips but nothing that will fit this, I am disappointed they didn’t make the tip 510 compatible.
Mod
I was a little mystified as to why Vandy Vape didn’t mark 3.4 and 3.8V on the product, likewise I would have preferred to see these markings in a light colour, because those of us that are sight challenged will and do have trouble reading the marks unless we are in bright light.
Vandy Vape state on their website that the battery will last 2 days under normal use, I take that to mean MTL and maybe not as an only device. I tested the battery as an exclusive mod at 3.8V MTL and only got around 4 hours from the battery while this is fairly good as it stands, it’s a far cry from the 2 days stated.
I tested the mod with my Pixie RDA and a 0.6Ω coil which fired fine. I put a 0.5Ω coil in the Pixie to further test it and the device couldn’t fire it.
Waterproof Test
Vandy Vape state that the device is IP66 waterproof I decided to test this to find out if it is or not lol I can always buy another if not!
Without the tank attached I place the device in a tub of water for 15 mins.
I didn’t see any air bubbles come from the mod and the lights on the device lit up underwater.
my opinion is yes the mod is waterproof, even if it’s a pain in rear to dry afterwards lol.
Shockproof
While I don’t have documented proof that the device is shockproof! The other day it was accidentally knocked out of my hand by my son who was horsing around, it landed on tiled flooring, thankfully the tank wasn’t attached! But hell does this thing bounce or what!
I immediately attached the tank and vaped the device it was fine! and left no mark on the rubber coating, I’ve now got to be careful encase my lad thinks all my mods bounce LOL.  Â

Final Review Verdict
The Vandy Vape Apollo Kit would be great for new vapers or MTL vapers who like a tight draw to their vape; likewise it would be a wise choice for those that don’t want a Pod system. With the AP Kit being small, very light, waterproof and durable it could be a good choice for use in the great outdoors or down at the beach on your holidays.
Would I buy the Vandy Vape Apollo kit again should I lose or damage it? Maybe the mod! The tank for me would gather dust.
