The Vaporesso Revenger Mini kit is sat here in front of me being all cute and that – so before I get stuck in let me tell you some details about it.

This mini vape mod follows on from the rest of the Revenger range from Vaporesso which includes the original Revenger and the Revenger X.

As you can see the Mini is a lot smaller than its predecessors.

revenger range

The reason for the size difference is that the Revenger Mini has an internal 2500mAh battery rather than the dual removable battery configuration of its siblings.

There is a lovely 0.96inch OLED screen and below this are the + and – buttons and the extra Menu button which I will tell you more about in the operation.

On the back of the mod is the new “artistic In Mould Labelling – IML” feature. Basically this gives a light pattern which is specific to the colour mod you choose. The Red version I have has the stars pattern on the back. You can control the colour of the lighting, the pattern or even switch it off completely.revenger mini light patterns

The kit version includes the Vaporesso NRG tank but the size depends on the location you are in. The standard version is the 3.5ml NRG SE tank and within the EU due to the TPD regulations you get the NRG SE Mini 2ml tank.NRG SE Tank

The tank has coloured bands to match the mod.

There are 5 colours available – Black, Blue, Red, Silver and the Special Edition Red/Green.

Right then time to get this out of the box and lighting up my life!

Vaporesso NRG SE Tank Specs

Build Quality & Design

I received the Vaporesso Revenger Mini mod and NRG SE tank in the Red version.

Vaporesso Revenger Mini Mod

This is just tiny and absolutely gorgeous.

There were protector films on the front and back of the mod so this arrived in pristine condition.revenger mini bottom view

I have found one slight flaw in the build quality – the front screen black panel can move a bit when you pick up or hold the mod. Otherwise this is really well built.revenger mini screen view

The fire button is mounted on the side of the mod and is quite small. Well it is for me as I have been using mods with fire bars down the whole side of the mod recently so I keep missing the button!revenger mini clock screen

The Adjustment and menu buttons are small too – I am a girly with little fingers and I am having to just press them with the tip of my finger. Blokes with big sausage fingers might struggle!revenger mini in tree

The rear of the mod features the light up pattern – on mine it is the stars pattern. You can change the colour and lighting pattern and I really love this – I didn’t think I would. However don’t be scared as you can turn this off if sparkly scares you – you may need to update the firmware if you haven’t got the latest version as this offers the “switch off lights” function.Revenger mini lighting effects

I was interested to see what diameter tank you could get on here without overhang as the NRG SE tank is only 22mm.

I found the Uwell Nunchaku tank at 25.2mm diameter was about the largest you could use, it was flush with the sides of the mod.revenger mini plus nunchaku

Vaporesso do an excellent job of instructions. They are great – a bit small to read but more comprehensive than a lot of kits I have used recently.

Vaporesso NRG SE Tank

The tank is a black tank with red bands to match the mod.nrg tank on revenger mini

However these bands are a different shade of red which is a shame as it doesn’t match. I also got some blue bands in the kit, which would look even worse on a red mod!

This tank looks so tiny, I have recently been using the Uwell Nunchaku and the Horizon Falcon tanks and they make this seem so small!nrg v falcon

The NRG tank has a huge range of Vaporesso GT coil heads to choose from. The kit includes the GT4 and the GT CCELL.Vaporesso GT Coil heads

I am also extremely curious to see if the Mesh GT head from the Vaporesso Cascade Mini (in the Cascade One kit) will fit – I may buy some to try!cascade one coils

Another good thing I have seen is that you can use other coils in this tank – I only have the Smok and Vaptio so will try them in to confirm. Yep they fit and work – but really prefer the Vaporesso coils!

How Does the Vaporesso Revenger Mini Kit Perform?

Basic operation

  • Turn on/off – 5 clicks of the fire button
  • Enter Menu – press and hold the centre (menu) button.
  • Enter settings – enter menu and scroll down to System set and press menu button.
  • Confirm selection – press the menu button
  • Scroll through options – press the + and – buttons.

vaporesso OMNI 2.2

I am still a bit annoyed about getting into the system setting menu as you have to scroll through all the power modes first. It was the same on the Vaporesso Switcher mod I reviewed. You can get used to it but it is a pain.revenger mini menu

revenger mini settings menuA little tip I found when I went to upgrade the firmware – (the link is here) you download a Manager program which also lets you customise the display icons and play with the Temperature Control and power curves! How To Charge The Battery

This has an internal battery so no need to use an external charger.

You get a lovely braided USB cable in the kit which looks excellent.revenger mini charging

  • Plug the small end of the USB cable into the Revenger Mini USB port.
  • Plus the large end of the USB cable into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The screen will display the charging progress – when the screen goes out it is charged.

Vaporesso NRG SE Tank

This is a really simple tank to use. As you will see below the refilling is excellent.

The only other thing to do is to adjust the airflow by turning the ring on the base of the tank, the more of the slot open will mean more airflow and you can close it down by turning.

How To Fill The Vaporesso NRG SE Tank

Beautiful simple top fill design…

  • Look for the symbol and push the top of the tank in this direction.
  • The top cap will swivel to expose the filling hole.vaporesso nrg tank refill
  • Squeeze liquid into the filling hole and watch the level on the side of the tank.
  • Swivel the tank cap back into the closed position.

Keep a close eye on the e-liquid level as these are big old coil heads and can guzzle the liquid. If you let the tank run dry you will get a lungfull of burnt cotton and even worse a knackered coil head.

How To Change The Coil Head

The coil heads do eventually wear out. Signs the coil is past its best are errors on the mod, burnt taste, poor performance or running the tank dry.

  • Remove the tank from the mod.
  • Turn the tank upside down.
  • Unscrew the base of the tank.
  • If the seal stays in the glass part of the tank remove it and replace it on the tank base – this will make assembling the tank again much easier.
  • Unscrew the existing coil if fitted from the tank base.nrg tank coil removed
  • Screw a new coil into the base.nrg tank coil installed
  • Add a few drops of E-liquid to the bits of cotton you can see on the coil.
  • Screw the tank base onto the tank.
  • Refill the tank as above.
  • Leave the tank to stand for 5-10 minutes to allow the new coil head to soak up e-liquid.
  • Check if the tank requires refilling.

Flavour & Cloud Production

This is a Sub Ohm tank so will perform best with higher VG E-liquid and a lower nicotine level.

I used an 80% VG Stika Bombz Fruit Salad 6mg nicotine E-liquid in this.

Further Reading: What is the difference between PG and VG in E-liquid?

The flavour and cloud production is always just an opinion – however I do try and compare with similar tanks and coil heads to see if it is performing as expected.

Vaporesso GT4 Coil Head

Day 1

I filled the tank and left this to sit for a good 10 minutes.

The recommendations for this coil head in normal taste mode are 30-70W – best at 45-60W.

I started off at 40W to be on the safe side and the first tank full did result in quite a taste of cotton. Not nasty but it did mute the taste of my e-liquid a lot.

Anyway second tank full I went up to 50W and this is already so much better. At 55W not much improvement. I didn’t even need to go any higher as this for me is perfect.

I love this coil and I love this little tank!

Day 2

However on day 2 at 50W I kept getting dry hits?

There are 4 inlets in the coil head for the e-liquid to enter and only one of these seems to be bubbling? I have removed the coil head, cleaned all the contacts and put it back in.

The cotton is still nice and white so doesn’t appear to be burnt so must be some kind of wicking problem? There is plenty of e-liquid in the tank and I haven’t let this run dry either.

Surely the coil hasn’t gone in one day of use at well below the recommended power rating?

I had a search around online and seeing similar stories of poor coil life with the NRG GT coils. In fact our Dean wasn’t impressed with the GT heads when he reviewed the Vaporesso Swag.

I have the flavour setting on the mod on “Normal” and am well within the rated wattage. Some people have mentioned a hack involving sticking needles into the cotton in the slots to open up the wicking a bit. Seems a bit extreme?

With nothing to lose I used the pointy end of my tweezers and poked them in the wicking ports and just moved the cotton around a bit. Reassembled the tank and filled up again. Still only bubbles from the one port.

This time slightly better if I let it rest between vapes it seems to be ok, but I am a chain vaper having only stopped smoking less than 3 months ago so this is a bit annoying? What a shame as I was really enjoying this coil in this tank.

And again the burnt taste is back? Why do you spoil my fun Vaporesso?

I even tried going back down to 40W and still the same?

As the cotton is still pure white I don’t think the coil head is burnt – more the problem is only one wicking port appears to be working?

I have given up now. Only so many dry hits I can take!

Vaporesso GT CCELL Coil Head

The recommendations for this coil in the normal taste mode are 25-35W.

This has a ceramic type wicking material so be more strict about the wattage you are using.

Day 1

So I started at 20W and there was some action bit of vapour and taste. Up to 25W and already a lot better. At 30W I am quite enjoying this actually! If I can keep this at 30W that will help the battery life a lot!

So far at 30W the taste is amazing am really shocked – please don’t let me down as I want to like this kit so much as it is so cute.

As this is only the first day of using this I will keep my options open as I did love the GT4 on the first day – so we will see if this is still good in a few days time!

Day 3&4

Woohoo this is still going and at 30W this has been a great coil – so far – great taste – not as warm as I usually like – but obviously this is a low power coil.

Just scared of speaking too soon!

If this manages a week of coil life which I consider to be about average I will be happy.

I have actually ordered a pack of the CCELL coil heads as I really enjoy this coil in this tank!

Day 7

Yay this coil has made it to a week, it still tastes great!

Battery Life

I found the life of the battery was poor. In fact I wish it was a bit bigger capacity – this mod is so small it could afford a slightly bigger battery.

Bearing in mind some vape pen e cigs – such as the Innokin Crios Riptide and Vaptio C2 manage a 3000mAh battery and they have no big screen to power up or lights.

I am being picky here as this is a tiny device.

This does have a quick charge capability – however I am not sure if the sad old USB ports on my PC are knocking out the higher 2.5A output. I found it took to 1 hour 50 minutes to charge with the included USB cable.

I timed the battery use of heavy vaping on the GT4 coil at 50W and I got 2 hours. Not much use for me out and about really.

With the CCELL at 30W I got just under 3 hours of vaping, which isn’t much better.

I admit I am pretty much a chain vaper – so for someone not vaping every few minutes this could be fine.

Pros

  • Beautiful looking mod.
  • Wonderful packaging and protections so this arrived pristine
  • Funky USB cable
  • Lovely light patterns
  • Excellent size in the hand
  • Beautiful flavour, vapour and throat hit from this NRG SE tank.
  • Able to fit tanks of 25mm diameter and below without overhang.
  • CCELL coil had better life and with low power requirements meant the battery lasted longer.

Cons

  • The menu is hard work – you have to scroll down to get into the system settings.
  • Small fire button – this is mainly as I have been using mods with fire bars lately so find I keep missing the fire button!
  • Slight wobble on front screen panel.
  • Red band on tank doesn’t quite match mod – picky really I know.
  • Larger battery capacity would be good.
  • Poor coil life or wicking issue on NRG GT4 coil.

Final Review Verdict

This is beautiful! I mainly vape at below 80W so my personal choice of vape mod is an internal battery or a single battery mod. I find dual battery mods too heavy and big to carry around. So the Vaporesso Revenger Mini is absolutely perfect size for me it really is!

I really wanted to love this kit so much as its specifications and appearance in theory were just what I like in a kit.

What would I change about this kit? Quite a few things sadly – the red band on the tank doesn’t quite match, better battery capacity, I don’t like the menu system, a slightly bigger fire button and perhaps the new mesh coils found in the Cascade One kit.

Also there is the coil head issue with the GT4. Surely this can’t be right and must be a faulty coil head? This was gutting as I really enjoyed vaping on this tank.

Vaporesso should not even bother putting the GT4 coil head in this kit, the mod battery isn’t powerful enough to run it for a long period and the coil head I received was quite frankly utter rubbish. The GT4 coil is just not suited to this kit at all. It made the battery performance terrible and the vaping experience was great for 1 day.

This kit did win me over again when I installed the CCELL coil. After 4 days this is still going strong with lovely flavour, the lower power setting of this increases the battery life slightly too.

Vaporesso – put two of the CCELL coil heads in this kit instead. Show the mod and brand in a much better light. The GT4 coil head which I used first gave me a terrible impression of your equipment and brand. Thankfully the CCELL coil made me enjoy this kit – for the time it isn’t on charge….

vaporesso-revenger-mini-kit-reviewWhat a shame, this mod which I love is let down by a poor battery capacity. The tank performance depends on the coil head installed. Initially the score for the GT4 coil was 8 or 9 out of 10 for flavour and vapour - but the burnt taste due to the wicking issue on day 2 ruined that. However the kit redeemed itself slightly with the CCELL coil - this lasted better, lovely flavour and running at a lower power meant the battery lasted slightly longer. I wouldn't even bother putting the GT4 coil head in this kit - it isn't suitable.

  1. Hi Michelle,

I’m about to start vaping in order to get off cigarettes and I’m very confused by all he kits available. I read your review on the Vaporesso Revenger Mini Kit, please can you tell me is it suitable for what they call mouth to lung usage?

    Thanks
    Derek
