Design and Build Quality

The design of the Target 75VTC is very unique. In many ways the white version sent for review reminds me of the kind of device a Storm Trooper might use. It has a strong Science Fiction styling and even has almost Mass Effect video game elements to it.

The device feels durable and has a decent weight but it is well balanced and not overly heavy.

The form factor is excellent and the device is very much like the hand grip of a pistol with the fire button acting as a trigger. It feels really good in the hand and is very comfortable.vaporesso target 75w kit

The 510 pin is spring loaded but it is a very stiff spring.  Of course in many ways this is a good thing since it will likely last considerable time. The battery compartment is at the rear of the hand grip and is well secured with magnets. The battery compartment cover is not wobbly or loose at all and it has a very good fit.

Venting is excellent since the device has slots at the top of the battery compartment on both sides in addition to thirteen holes in the base. The battery compartment cover also has a nice rubberized finish to it that makes it feel comfortable in the hand and it makes for a good grip. The device takes a single 18650 battery which is not included.

The front of the device has three buttons and a clear display. The display is nice and bright and shows all the typical information you would expect: coil resistance, wattage and voltage. In addition battery charge is displayed and also temperature when using that mode.target 75w OLED screen

The front of the device also features a Micro-USB port located at the bottom so you can happily stand this mod upright and charge it.

The tank has a capacity of 3.5ml which ideally I would prefer to be 4ml or more since Sub Ohm tanks do tend to drain the e juice quickly.

The tank has fully adjustable airflow with two large horizontal air slots. The drip tip is made of Delrin so will keep the heat away from your lips at high wattage. Most of my drip tips fitted the tank without any problems but there were a couple that didn’t fit very well.Target TC Mod battery

The only slight issue I have with the tank is that the glass tube tends to rotate. It isn’t loose but it does move sometimes when screwing the tank down. The O-rings do hold the glass so you won’t get any leaking but I’d rather that glass didn’t move at all.

Innovative coils

The cCEll coils are very unique since they don’t actually use cotton wicking material directly on the coil. Instead the wire is embedded in ceramic which results in a warmer and more flavoursome vape.

Update: Since this review I have since found there is a wrap of cotton around the outside of the ceramic which is not visible unless the coil is taken apart. This acts as a protector for the ceramic and prevents too much e juice getting through.

Having said that I did dry burn the coil and the performance was still good after that. So I’d say the coil is simply more forgiving than a cotton wrapped coil.

Having said that this is not something I would advise doing to prolong the coil life.

C Cell Vaporesso Ceramic Coil

It is entirely possible that this new form of coil could be a game changer and I will certainly be interested to see what other manufacturers come up with in the future.

Operating procedure

The manual is good at explaining the functions so I’ll only cover the basics here.

  • 5 clicks of the fire button switches the device on and off.
  • 3 clicks flips the display.
  • Hold the plus and minus buttons down to switch to Temperature Control mode.
  • When in Temperature Control mode hold the fire button and the minus button down to lock the coil resistance.
  • Hold the fire button and the plus button down to lock/unlock the device.

How Does The Vaporesso Target Vape?

The device comes with a standard Kanthal coil and a Ni200 coil. I first tried the pre-fitted Kanthal coil which has a resistance of 0.9ohm. I filled the tank with Von Vapes Elite Drip Noble and started vaping at 25W. At this wattage it wasn’t a bad vape at all and the flavour was certainly very good.Vaporesso target tank ccell

I found 35W to be the sweet spot and at this wattage it was a warm, highly flavoursome vape with excellent cloud production. In fact it was such a good vape I got through the tank rather quickly before refilling for another vape. Von Vape e juice is high in VG and I am happy to report that the tank had absolutely no issues with it.

In my opinion it offered a far better vape with high VG than many other tanks I have used. The cCELL Kanthal coil is fantastic and I really couldn’t stop filling this tank and having yet another heavy vape session.

I was extremely impressed and I felt that this is one of the best pre-made Kanthal coils I have used and it is miles better than typical ones that have organic cotton wicks in direct contact with the coils. In the end I think I refilled the tank about seven times and the coil is still working great.Vaporesso target tank parts

From what I have read the cCELL coils fit Atlantis tanks but since I don’t own that tank anymore I have not been able to confirm this.

I then moved on to trying the Ni200 coil and I set the device to my typical preferred temperature of 240°C at 40W. For some reason it was not a very warm vape in fact I hate to say it but it was rather lacklustre. I am unsure of the reason for this poor performance but I suspect I simply had received a bad coil.

To make sure that the device was not at fault I used my Freemax Starre Pro on it and the Ni200 coil in that tank worked fine resulting in a very flavoursome, warm vape just like it is when used on my other devices. It’s a shame because I am sure the ceramic Ni200 coil would have been an exceptional vape but unfortunately that was not to be.

Airflow on the tank is excellent and with two large slots you will get plenty of clouds when running high VG e juices. For those that prefer a more restrictive vape you can close the airflow slots down heavily but keep in mind this tank is really designed for lung hits. Refilling the tank is easy but it is bottom filling.

Battery life is pretty typical for a single 18650 vape mod. If you heavily vape this device and trust me you will be tempted then a single battery won’t last you all day. More modest use and lower wattage will of course give you longer battery life.

Is It Worth it?

In my opinion this is a worthwhile device since you are getting a Sub Ohm tank as part of the overall package. Given that the device offers 75 Watts of power and includes temperature control functionality it’s certainly a decent purchase.

As a starter kit the Target 75VTC is really impressive and the device is very straightforward to understand. As long as you like very open airflow and have no issues with lung hits then this is going to suit you very well.

Final Vaporesso Target VTC Review Verdict

I think that if you like the very Sci-Fi looks that this device has then you will probably be tempted by it. The ceramic coils are certainly innovative and do offer a very flavorsome vape.

The fact that the coils can take a dry burn (even with the cotton that is wrapped around the outside of the ceramic) it is difficult to scorch them and get that burnt taste coming through that you can get with standard cotton coils.

On the whole I think this is an interesting device and it seems to perform like most typical single 18650 mods. The form factor is excellent and it makes the device very comfortable to hold.

The only real negative I have with the Target 75VTC is the fact that the included Ni200 coil resulted in rather poor performance but given that the device works well with other temperature control tanks I own I suspect I simply received a bad coil.

The Good

  • Good form factor.
  • Very unique looks that won’t suit everyone, could be a pro or a con.
  • Excellent flavor from ceramic Kanthal coil.
  • Coil life seems very good.
  • Great cloud production with the included tank.
  • Great starter kit that is easy enough to get to grips with.
  • Excellent build quality.

The Not So Good

  • Included Ni200 coil wasn’t a great vape. Possible that I received a dud.
  • Tank capacity could be better.
  • Tank glass could be secured better.

I have been vaping for four years now. I was a 20 a day smoker and a friend of mine encouraged me to give vaping a try. He gifted me with a ego/ce4 set up and some juice and to be fair I found it reasonable but not ideal so I was still also smoking. I went to my local B&M and got some good advice regarding what vaping gear would suit me, as well as finding some juice more to my liking. For a couple of months I used a Vamo V5 but I kept seeing these shiny tube mods and I wondered what they were. After some investigation I discovered they were called mechanical mods and I had to buy my own. From that point I was completely off the cigarettes and quite satisfied with my set up. I eventually moved on the rebuildable devices with my first RDA and RTA. I love vaping and I have no plans to ever stop because there are so many new flavours to discover and a vast amount of different devices with newer technologies to try. While I still own a couple of mechanical mods my preference these days is VW box mods and I really do enjoy a vape with temperature control. I also make my own e-juice as time allows.

  1. DO NOT but this mod. The electronics are glitch prone. Went through three batteries in a month. It wont charge or it will not power on or it just dies after a full charge. Contacted the company for a replacement and they said NO- the warranty expired. Not very customer friendly or supportive. They do not stand behind their product

  2. I am a retailer for this 75W target Kit. I have sold hundreds of these units to customers and I have to say this is by far the most unreliable kit I have encountered in my 5 years of selling eCigarettes.
In most cases, I see straight away that user error is causing the issue but with the Vaporesso Target 75w Kit, the faults lie with the manufacturer. The looks are slick and with the ergonomic design people are quick to snap it up when the basic functions and reliability are almost non existent.
I have lost a lot of money on this kit and the company have yet to respond to my query of replacements or refunds. Nothing as of yet.

  3. Love this thing my local vape shop had it and came highly recommend and I couldn’t be happier, considering before I was running a eleaf mod at 3.8 Watts!

  4. I couldnt figure out how to get in touch with you directly (the author), but I wanna talk to you about this particular white and orange Target 75w kit and if you still have it. If you could get at me with some kind of contact info Id appreciate it.

  5. I must worn everyone that some of the information on this review is wrong!
The coils DO have cotton inside them!
Inside the outer shell is a thin layer of cotton which wicks just before your juice makes contact with the Ceramic.
You will not be able to dry burn like this review says without burning the cotton.
Treat this coil like every other coil regarding its life span etc.

    • Hey Alan, thanks for the comment and the heads up.

We have only just seen the coil had cotton in as it wasn’t taken apart for review. Jamie did however give this coil a bit of a hammering which it stood upto where a cotton wrapped coil wouldn’t have. Also after a dry burn we found that the flavour came back well without the burnt taste. Something that wouldn’t happen if we had done the same with a cotton coil.

Having said that for improving the life of the coil dry burning isn’t something that should be recommended and is not needed.

The wording has however been changed as it does come across wrong in the review.

Thanks again Alan for the comment, appreciated.

    • Hey James,

As of yet I don’t. I will get in touch and see if the manufacturer can give any more info though. If I hear more I will let you know. Cheers

      Jonny
