The Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA is a tiny little single coil 22mm mouth to lung dripper that on paper looks to have far to much airflow to give a proper Mouth to Lung (MTL) vape but as this review shows looks can be deceiving.

geekvape mtl rda

The original sub ohm Ammit RTA had a mixed bag of reviews and feedback with lots of leaking issues whilst the recent updated Ammit 25mm version has once again split users opinions.

However early indications are this 22mm MTL RDA is proving extremely popular with its leak proof top to bottom airflow design and pleasing looks.

The key issue as I’ve already touched on is can the amount of airflow hitting the deck give a ‘proper MTL restricted vape?’

To find out lets take a closer look.

The GeekVape Ammit MTL RDA was sent to me direct from the company for the purpose of this review – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Key Features

This is a single coil 22mm RDA designed specifically for mouth to lung – MTL vapers.

It features a dual post deck with a decent depth juice well and the Geekvape famous 3D airflow system.

It’s top to bottom airflow which means its designed to be leak proof and as to if that stands up we shall see shortly.

There’s 12 different airflow settings taking you to a very restricted draw right through to a very comfortable loose draw that is close to direct to lung – DTL – if you like a restricted hit.

The airflow control ring includes a Cyclops style which means you can open all or some of the holes and also a single ring that means you can fine tune the airflow with the corresponding hole.

It’s squonk compatible and comes with a squonk pin that feeds the juice through two holes punched at the bottom of the 510.

Dripping is easy enough however the generous juice well means you can actually fill it with around 2mls and at low power that will last you a very long time indeed.

I received the stainless steel version and other colours are available including the very snazzy violet.

Design and Build Quality

It’s actually quite a smart looking uncluttered RDA with just the image of the mythical Ammit creature printed on one side.

The overall shape is very tapered and the top cap is domed and conical inside too which suggests this will be a real flavour machine – more on that soon.

You also receive x3 different 510 mouthpieces all in differing restrictions and one extremely long stainless steel version.

Build wise the Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA is pretty good with little or no shards or sharp bits and the machining is nice and smooth.

The top cap isn’t the thickest you’ll ever use and sitting on it or dropping it might see it become out of shape – so no rough handling!

The tolerance on the top cap is not as strong as you might like – especially fully juiced up – however even fully filled it does take a little effort to get it off to fill or drip.

How Does the GeekVape Ammit MTL RDA Perform?

The build deck is simple enough even for a beginner with two cross head screws and you should have no bother at all fitting the supplied 0.7hm coils.

I found the cross head post screws a little small but then this is a dainty deck – and I was particularly impressed with the included coils.

ammit rda coiled

I found placing the coil dead centre to the 3D and bottom airflow and slightly raised gave me the best vape – though we’re talking fractions of mm so it really shouldn’t make too much of a difference.

The coils read out at between 0.56 and 0.6 ohms and I found an extremely comfortable loose MTL vape with the airflow fully open on the Cyclops setting at 17w.

I moved between 15w and 25w with the later getting a little warm – both the vape and the top cap – but 21w for me was bang on.

OK out of the box it’s set for dripping mode which as I’ve already stated given the depth of the juice well this acts perfectly well as a 2ml MTL tank.

wicked

I’ve used this RDA extensively in both dripper and squonk mode and to be honest I found either gave a superb loose MTL vape with the Cyclops airflow wide open which is my preferred style.

Closing it down on both the Cyclops and ring to the tiniest hole gives an almost impossibly tight draw which I found uncomfortable.

But with 12 different possible airflow settings and of course the three mouthpieces you will find a happy medium.

Flavour wise I was extremely impressed to say the least with my JAC Vapour Originals tobacco e-liquid tasting crisper with undertones I haven’t been picking up in the Vandy Vape Beserker.

Vapour was impressive for an MTL RDA too with thick clouds even off a 50/50 VG PG – so not one for the stealthy vapes in public!

Pros

  • Great price
  • Nice design
  • Ton of airflow options
  • Easy to build on
  • Squonk compatible
  • Great flavour
  • Decent clouds
  • Choice of drip tips

Cons

  • Top cap not the strongest
  • Small fiddly post screws
  • Over squonking very easy!

Final Review Verdict

Those in the know are surprised at just how well this MTL RTA performs as a ‘proper mouth to lung’ vape given the sheer amount of airflow getting to the coil.

However the sheer choice of airflow control holes means you really can shut off so much air it really can give the tightest MTL vape right up to a much looser – not quite DTL vape.

I had a couple of issues with the squonk action where one squeeze flooded the deck – no leakage but it took a longish amount of time to suck the excess back into the tank which could be down to the tiny squonk holes in the pin.

I enjoyed using this more in out and out dripper mode and as I’ve already said it acts just like a 2ml tank given the generous juice well.

This is the first MTL RDA I’ve used and I have to say given I mouth to lung vape daily I’m extremely impressed with the Geekvape Ammit MTL RDA.

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.

  1. Great write up! I appreciate you taking the time to share how it performed as a “true mtl” device. My first MTL RDA was the Berserker and I’ve enjoyed squonking with it and am looking forward to my Ammit arriving so I can see how it compares.
