They’ve been releasing a bunch of really good vape gear of late so does the Aspire Tekno pod kit continue the trend?

As the name suggests, this is indeed a pod kit and the pods can be switched between the popular Aspire AV Pro and BP coils.

aspire tekno pod kit reviewed

The Aspire Tekno has a compact design and whilst there’s a limited amount of vaping options, there’s more than enough to tailor your personal vape.

OK, I mentioned Aspire has been busy of late and I’ve had the pleasure of reviewing the outstanding Aspire Prime X vape kit which hasn’t left my side since it arrived – the Aspire Favostix, another pod kit that bangs out the flavour with no fuss. And of course the beast that is the Aspire VROD sub ohm set-up.

Meanwhile young Will has reviewed the Aspire Paradox mod, designed in conjunction with high end designers NoName and from the same team the Aspire 9th Tank – both equally enjoyed.

As I said, Aspire is really rocking the vape world at the moment!

What Can We Expect From the Aspire Tekno Pod Kit?

Simplicity and good flavour is top of my list when it comes to all vape gear, but especially pod kits given the overloaded market.

And as the Aspire Tekno pod kit takes two sets of coils with a proven track record of great flavour, what could possibly go wrong..?

There’s no fiddling about with complicated menus either – Aspire has kept the Tekno bare bones so to speak – but still enough to satisfy.

No need for external batteries either with a really big internal 1300mAH despite the Aspire Tekno’s dainty size.

OK on with the review.

For the record this was sent directly from Aspire UK – thank you – and as always, my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

You could say I tek no bribes 😉

Key Features

It maxes out at 30w and is designed for sub ohm vaping – as to how restrictive it is, we shall see.

aspire tekno pod mo review

The chip allows you to choose between using the fire button or turn that option off and it draws automatically – you can opt for both methods too.

It can be used with x2 types of pod and coils: the 3ml pod takes AVP Pro Coils whilst the 3.5ml pod takes BP Coils.

The kit comes with the two different pods and includes an 0.65ohm AVP Pro coil and the 3.5ml pod with the 1.ohm BP coil.

As to how each of the included coils vape I’ll tackle in a wee while.

The Aspire Tekno pod kit features a bottom fill and a side airflow design and there’s also a small 0.69 inch screen to keep an eye on your settings.

Design and Build Quality

It’s a very compact design fitting snugly the hand and ideal for popping in your pocket or bag.

It looks very smart too and come sin a variety of colour combos: Carbon Fibre Black – Feather White – Digital Red – Rainbow Wave and the curiously named Gunmetal Serpeggiante that I received.

aspire tekno review

I must confess to having no idea what Serpeggiante is…and glancing at mine I assumed it was grandma’s sideboard…but nope…it’s a kind of marble, atone or winding path… Mine is very shiny and almost wood like, looks OK though…

You can see your juice levels very well indeed as it gathers in the mouthpiece, speaking of which, the mouthpiece isn’t the most comfortable I’ve used, a kind of mix between a duck bill and flute style.

aspire tekno mouthpiece

Build wise and as always seems to be the case with Aspire, the quality is first rate.

The buttons have a nice throw to them, the airflow slider has just the right amount of resistance and the pod magnets snap in nicely – they ain’t going anywhere!

How Does the Aspire Tekno Pod Kit Perform?

Very well indeed is the short answer!

The menu is dead simple to read and extremely intuitive to use.

Aspire Tekno Quick Start Guide

  • x5 clicks of the fire button on and off
  • Hold fire and control button together locks and unlocks device
  • Press fire button x3 to select vape mode
  • Depending on selected mode – draw or press fire button to vape

Aspire Tekno Vape Modes

  • A Mode: auto draw
  • B Mode: Fire button draw
  • A and B Mode: use auto draw or fire button

Refreshingly simple to use and as I said, ideal for the brand new vaper.

Right, let’s see how the Aspire Tekno pod kit performs using the coils/pods inside the box.

Aspire Tekno – AVP Pro Coil 0.65ohm

I used an old favourite e-liquid to test this one out, the multi-award winning legend that is Dinner Lady Lemon Tart – no introduction required!

The best wattage is printed on the outside of the pod and readable even for my tired old eyes.

AV PRO COIL POD

Aspire recommends vaping this one between 15-25w.

I began at the low end and whilst it was decent flavour, things perked up at 23w and I really was getting all the notes I know from this vape juice.

It wicked extremely well and absolutely no leaks whatsoever – excellent!

Vapour wise, and you ain’t going to be winning any cloud chucking contests – but there’s decent enough clouds if that’s your thing.

As to the airflow?

Shut right off and you can still technically vape it – however there’s really no point as there’s a lot of puffing for little reward.

Wide open and this is a very restricted Direct To Lung vape with 10 being wide open this is a 6.5 to 7…it’s tight!

I found my vaping sweet spot and half open at 23w…still a little tight for me but flavour was bang on.

Aspire Tekno – BP Coil 1.0ohm

For this test I used the very tasty and another award winner 12 Monkeys Tropika – in my case, the nic salt version.

Recommended wattage for this one is a lowly 10 to 16w – obviously designed for a more Mouth To Lung vape or a very restricted DTL.

ASPIRE BP COIL POD

At 10w the flavour was just about OK, however bumped up to the max and the flavours I love from this particular vape juice came flooding through.

I love this coil, especially in the Aspire Prime X kit [awesome set-up that one] and yeah the flavour was spot on.

With the airflow shut off again you can vape it but man it’s hard work!

Wide open and 10 being airy, this one’s quite loose – certainly in comparison to the previous coil, and I’d say sevenish

I’m getting a better flavour off this coil for sure, however it’s not quite at the giddy heights I’ve found in the Prime X – still tasty though.

Pros

  • Good design
  • Compact and pocket friendly
  • Good build quality
  • Choice of pods
  • Choice of coils
  • Draw options
  • Good flavour off both pods/coils
  • Long battery life
  • Fast charging

Cons

  • Mouthpiece a little uncomfortable

Final Review Verdict

As you can see, the Pros far outweigh the Cons, the question is do I rate this one highly?

It’s a yes, but with a rider.

I really can’t get on with the mouthpiece and that’s not being a wimp lol.

There’s x4 ridges and they really don’t sit well between my lips…that’s what she said.

It’s not a deal breaker by any length, just something that’s irked me and I tend to reach for others before this one.

In the grand scheme of things it’s no big deal and purely subjective – you might not even notice – maybe I have sensitive lips…

There’s no denying the flavour is very good indeed – as you would expect from Aspire coils – and the vapour does have to squeeze through a narrow channel – ideal to improve flavour.

I like the design too – compact and subtle lines that reminds me of something…

As you can see, I received the Gunmetal Serpeggiante version, and hold on to thinking it reminds me of my grandma’s teak sideboard – no bad thing 😉

All in all it’s another pod kit from Aspire that really is churning out some very good vape kits at the moment…

So, once it’s been released is this one you fancy?

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.
