The Augvape Druga Foxy mod is the latest device released by a company that has steadily increased their vape game for the better over recent years and it’s fair to say this one has received glowing reviews.

The key feature here is the patented Quick Release System – which in effect means you can add or remove your tank or atty with the simple press of a button. As to how that works we’ll certainly get into later.

Incidentally this is not the first time Augvape has been ‘innovative’ the Druga RDA featured the first CSS (Clamp Snag System) which whilst some found a bit lame I actually liked.

OK the menu on the Augvape Druga Foxy is extremely basic to say the least with no temp control but an easy switch between voltage and variable wattage and that really is about it!

Just by looking at the photos you can tell this is a stunning looking mod available in silver and black and trust me it feels just as good in the hand and as to how it performs you’ll soon find out.

Augvape are holding on to the Druga name for this mod. Since then Augvape has brought out some superb devices notably the BTFC RDA – the Templar RDA – the Intake RTA and of course the wondrous V200 mod.

This was sent to me direct from Augvape – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions are not swayed by freebies.

Inside the Box

A simple enough box with the various ohms law patterns on the sides…and thankfully there’s thumb slots to make it easier to get the top off!

Key Features

Obviously the unique selling point here is the innovative quick release system.

In a nutshell this is a button that opens up the teeth of the 510 connector allowing you to drop your tank or rebuildable in – releasing the button and giving it a half twist to secure – you do the same in reverse to remove it.

As to if this works we’ll look at later – as to if this is necessary or solving a problem that doesn’t exist (as in us vapers are a lazy bunch) I’ll also look at later.

Otherwise key to this mod is its outright simplicity – simple yet stylish looks and the refreshingly uncomplicated menu system that offers just voltage vaping or variable wattage.

The design under the +/- plate is an Ohms Law calculator – if I’m honest it makes absolutely no sense to me – I failed physics and algebra at school – however I’m told by those in the know that’s what it is lol.

ohms law design

BTW the eagle eyed among you may have noticed the mod comes without a USB cable and does not have a USB port – so you cannot charge this via USB [a good thing] but it also means there will be NO firmware upgrades. So if you want this mod make sure you get yourself a decent external battery charger 😉

Design and Build Quality

First up this is an extremely well made mod and that reflects in the weight and solid feel in the hand – it’s a heavy bugger.

augvape gruga foxy mod reviewDesign wise it is very reminiscent of an early Nokia mobile phone – unfussy, feels good in the hand and you know you’re holding it. Let’s put it this way it’s not the most pocket friendly unless you have a tight belt and that’s down to the large amount of zinc alloy I guess.

I received the silver version – black is available – which looks and feels like real chrome to be honest. As you might expect it’s a bit of a fingerprint magnet though. And given it has a very shiny/cold feel to the exposed alloy – condensation on the top of the mod can build up quite quickly from bottom airflow control devices.Augvape Druga foxy size comparison

After 3 weeks of constant use the quick release button is showing no signs of failing however rather than the half turn when popping on an atty I find it’s a turn and a half on most.

BTW the quick release is silky smooth to say the least with no delay in pressing it and opening up the 510.

I said it was a solid mod – however those face and back plates are ultra-thin – thinner than a credit card – so do be careful when removing them. I guess any thicker and they may have added to the weight of the already hefty device.

BTW you can switch and swap the plates though to be honest at the time of writing I haven’t spotted any online but I’m assured they are out there!

The screen is very small indeed – OK tiny – however it’s clear and just the right side of bright [could be brighter] and serves its purpose well even with my old man’s failing eyesight it’s still readable.

So extremely well built and solid with a simple as you like ‘menu’…so how what’s the vape like on the Augvape Foxy mod?

How Does the Augvape Druga Foxy Perform?

OK let’s look at this Quick Release system.

Yes it works – will it last? Who knows. I have certainly given it a rigorous workout [ooer missus] to the point where I can be sat on my sofa playing with it [ooer missus] to really over work it…OK enough smutty puns.

Look after 3 weeks it’s holding up and showing no signs yet of failing – as to if I will be saying the same in months or years who knows.

However, as to if we need it? I guess if you’re a lazy sod who gets annoyed at screwing on and off [I said no more smutty puns] then the Augvape Foxy is right up your street.

Another point I guess is if you have some kind of issue with your mod and the coil starts firing and you need to get it off the device quick smart. Sure it’s innovative but adding yet another moving part to a mod might just cause issues down the line.

The menu is as I’ve explained so simple it’s probably one of the easiest ‘advanced’ mods I’ve ever used. The menu whilst extremely basic is responsive and from my vaping experience the wattage you set is the wattage you get – this is certainly NOT underpowered. It fires bloody fast too in both voltage and wattage mode.

battery compartment a bit snug

I’m a boring old wattage vaper however for fun and science I have vaped this in voltage mode and wow at around 6v this mod delivers one hell of a hit!

Battery life is very good too – I guess down to the chip and lack of fancy stuff in the menu – I’ve had a couple of 3000mAH batteries last me a little over 12 hours of steady vaping which I think is pretty good at around 71w.

Pros

  • Stunning design
  • Easy to use
  • Great battery life
  • Hits hard
  • Solid build
  • Ergonomic
  • Voltage vapers will love it
  • Can take 25mm tanks with no overhang – maybe 26mm
  • Quick Release works well for now

Cons

  • No temp control
  • Basic menu might be an issue for some
  • Size of screen might not be to everyone’s taste
  • Condensation can noticeably form on top of the mod
  • Plates are thin and may bend…
  • No USB port so no firmware upgrades

Final Review Verdict

As soon as this beauty was in my hand I fell in love – it really does remind me of an old school mobile phone to hold and feel.

I actually like the geometric design they have going on with the plates – though they do feel a little flimsy I’ve had no issue yet.

It fires fast as you like and trust me if you’ve never had a go vaping in voltage mode give it a go with the Foxy – it really delivers a stunning vape!

The Quick Release system works well as to if we really need it who knows – but it works and it’s now a ‘thing’. BTW you don’t have to use it the attys will screw on and off like a regular 510 fitting.

I can’t complain about the design, build quality or indeed the vape you get off the Augvape Druga Foxy. It’s solid in every department and well worth a punt or to put on your Christmas list.

In fact I’ll go as far to say that if you’re on the hunt for a new no frills beautifully designed high performance mod “For fox sake just buy one already!”

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.

  1. Sadly a review that’s wide of the mark. There is no doubt that this is a beautiful looking mod but its one beset by design flaws. The three most common are: a) constant ‘battery failt messages preventing firing b) defective fire button issues and c) the design of the space for batteries.

A beautiful looking mod but a shockingly poorly engineered one. Avoid at all costs
