Vapor Blackout 2016 Call to Support Days of Action to Save Vaping

Vapers from across the world are being called to support a five day social media protest to show solidarity against the current state of global vaping laws.

Under the hashtag #VaporBlackout2016 well known pro vaping campaigner ‘Nick (Grimm) Green’ is calling on all vapers – companies and manufacturers to flood all social media sites with the message vaping saves lives.

Starting on August 8th it’s hoped everyone with an interest in vaping will replace their current ‘eye candy’ posts filled with mods – e-liquids and promotions and replace them with JUST campaign approved images.

We would like as many pages to participate as possible, in order to push these messages out. Let’s all get involved and save vaping for smokers around the world, not just for us.” Said US based Nick –known on the internet by his handle ‘grimmgreen’.

The Fight to Save American Vaping

August 8th 2016 is extremely significant as it’s the day the US Congress looks at a two pieces of legislation that could stop the destruction of vaping as American’s know it.

Similar in context to the EU’s TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) the American version brought into law back in 2009, is known as the TCA (Tobacco Control Act).

It gives the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) license to class ALL vaping products as tobacco – ignorance when it comes to governments around the world is bliss it would seem.

If the current law is passed by the US Congress it will see 99% of vaping products currently on sale taken off the shelves immediately.

Literally putting companies out of business – people out of work and of course sentencing many people to slow agonizing deaths through smoking related diseases.

There are two attempts to stop the legislation from going through:

  • HR 2058
  • Cole-Bishop amendment

How YOU Can Help Save Vaping in the USA

In effect if either of these bills are passed by the Congress vaping will be saved – if not it really will force vaping underground with the possibility of it becoming a criminal act.

As we saw from the article on Vaper X – this is not as farfetched as it may sound – Prohibition anyone..?

Vapers in the US are urgently being called upon to contact their Legislators and CASAA has a page with an email form readily filled out:

The FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2015 (HR 2058), introduced by Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma, would save the U.S. vapor industry from being decimated by improper regulations by the FDA.

This bill would amend the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act to change the predicate date for deemed tobacco products.

This change would allow for all vapor products currently on the market to remain on the market without being subject to the burdensome (read: prohibitive) pre-market FDA approval application process.

Other groups supporting the fight to save vaping in the US includes

R2B the Smoke Free Coalition

Their mission statement is simple:The Right to be Smoke-Free Coalition is a non-profit, industry-led trade association of e-vapor businesses dedicated to promoting the interests of the industry by advocating for reasonable and responsible laws and regulations, and fighting for the right of vapers to be smoke-free.

The Right to be Smoke-Free Coalition works with expert legal counsel and the broader industry to develop comprehensive litigation strategies to challenge unlawful Federal and State Laws and Regulations.

Our current activities and information will be updated periodically. To join the fight please contribute to become a member of the Coalition.

Our Coalition is positioned to enforce and defend the industry, and we need your help. Lawsuits of these nature are costly and we expect vigorous defense against our efforts.

If you are an industry advocate, e-liquid producer, device manufacturer, vape shop owner or internet retailer that believes in responsible and appropriate regulations, you can join the Coalition or contribute to the cause.

  1. The government(s) is/are terrified of anything new, not understood, and out of their control. Ignorant boobs is what they are.

  2. It may sound naive, but should the whole world to unite. We are all the same! China has already given its support to the US, but Europe and the US are doing everything separately. It does not make sense.

  3. Vaping saving lifes.ridiculous to ban it.It’s all because of cigarette lobby.Manufacturers of electric cigarettes should make campaign.

  5. “If the current law is passed by the US Congress it will see 99% of vaping products currently on sale taken off the shelves immediately” is completely incorrect.

  6. The cigarette and pharmaceutical companies are trying to kill vaping for their profit. Regulating it so that it is impossible to survive does not seem logical or reasonable. What are the motives of those that are opposing this industry?

  7. This FDA crap is is going to have a knock on effect all over the world once other country’s see that the FDA have gotten away with it and they will! get away with it because they have big tobacco and big pharm whispering in their ears “money money money” even here in the UK we will feel the knock on effect can anyone seriously see Mrs May doing anything to stop the TPD! no because money is at the heart of things again! I will use #VaporBlackout2016 in all my posts

  8. This is going to push so many back to smoking its pathetic.. I understand regulation to a certain extent so that correct and consistent information can be obtained for testing/medical purposes but they take it too far

  9. I have donated to CASAA and R2B Smoke Free over the past few months and plan on making another donation this month. Wish I could donate more but even 15 bucks is better than nothing. Let’s get the word out and get even more people involved. Truth will prevail. VAPE ON

  10. We need to save vaping in the US. I use it to quit smoking and dipping and wouldn’t go back for the world. It saved my life
