Call to Support Days of Action to Save Vaping
Vapers from across the world are being called to support a five day social media protest to show solidarity against the current state of global vaping laws.
Under the hashtag #VaporBlackout2016 well known pro vaping campaigner ‘Nick (Grimm) Green’ is calling on all vapers – companies and manufacturers to flood all social media sites with the message vaping saves lives.
Starting on August 8th it’s hoped everyone with an interest in vaping will replace their current ‘eye candy’ posts filled with mods – e-liquids and promotions and replace them with JUST campaign approved images.
We would like as many pages to participate as possible, in order to push these messages out. Let’s all get involved and save vaping for smokers around the world, not just for us.” Said US based Nick –known on the internet by his handle ‘grimmgreen’.
The Fight to Save American Vaping
August 8th 2016 is extremely significant as it’s the day the US Congress looks at a two pieces of legislation that could stop the destruction of vaping as American’s know it.
Similar in context to the EU’s TPD (Tobacco Products Directive) the American version brought into law back in 2009, is known as the TCA (Tobacco Control Act).
It gives the FDA (Food and Drug Administration) license to class ALL vaping products as tobacco – ignorance when it comes to governments around the world is bliss it would seem.
If the current law is passed by the US Congress it will see 99% of vaping products currently on sale taken off the shelves immediately.
Literally putting companies out of business – people out of work and of course sentencing many people to slow agonizing deaths through smoking related diseases.
There are two attempts to stop the legislation from going through:
- HR 2058
- Cole-Bishop amendment
How YOU Can Help Save Vaping in the USA
In effect if either of these bills are passed by the Congress vaping will be saved – if not it really will force vaping underground with the possibility of it becoming a criminal act.
As we saw from the article on Vaper X – this is not as farfetched as it may sound – Prohibition anyone..?
Vapers in the US are urgently being called upon to contact their Legislators and CASAA has a page with an email form readily filled out:
The FDA Deeming Authority Clarification Act of 2015 (HR 2058), introduced by Representative Tom Cole of Oklahoma, would save the U.S. vapor industry from being decimated by improper regulations by the FDA.
This bill would amend the Food, Drug, and Cosmetics Act to change the predicate date for deemed tobacco products.
This change would allow for all vapor products currently on the market to remain on the market without being subject to the burdensome (read: prohibitive) pre-market FDA approval application process.
