Now, it’s been a while since I had the pleasure of reviewing an iJoy product and I was super excited to get any hands on this kit, since I’ve always been a fan of the brand. 
The Capo SSRDA Kit, the Captain Resin Kit and the Shogun Sub Ohm Tank and Shogun UNIV Kit, all these are amongst iJoy’s recent, celebrated releases.
What Can We Expect From The iJoy Mystique Kit?
So here I am at last with iJoy’s contribution to the affordable, lightweight vape in hand, in the form of a dual 18650 kit with a 162 W max output, a mesh coil setup that promises to deliver on the flavour front and a sexy looking exterior that appears to be a lot more expensive than it actually is.
As always, the question is…how does it actually perform. Read on to find out!

Build Quality & Design
iJoy Mystique Mod
I was quite impressed with the look of this affordable kit, as soon as I opened the neat, black box packaging to reveal the round edged, rectangular box mod inside.
Now, you may think this kit’s artistic aesthetic is a failed attempt to replicate the skin of The X-men’s Mystique character (her skin looks nothing like this) but it was, in fact, inspired by Beijing’s glorious Water Cube, which housed the Olympic swimming pools and has an exterior facade and roof which looks exactly like the beautiful ‘grip’ texturing all over this mod.
This dual 18650 mod is quite simple in design, about 1.5 cm wider than two 18650’s alongside one another, this mod actually has a pretty decent hand feel, narrow enough to fit in your palm and tall enough to sit comfortably on your little finger while you fire with either your forefinger or your thumb.
The base of the mod has 12 little holes for battery ventilation and the battery chamber is reached by removing one side panel, which stays on with the help of two large magnets and a little tab at the bottom for your thumb nail.
Inside you’ll find a snug battery chamber with clear markings showing you how to place your 18650s in series.
The larger side panels are made sexy by that water-cube finish, which consists of a matte background with a shinier overlay in a very aesthetically pleasing pattern.
Controls:
The narrower sides of this rounded rectangle are just plain matte finish, with one side empty of controls and the other featuring a nice, grip textured, thumb tip sized, round fire button that’s very clicky.
Below is a 6 x 22 mm long, vertically set screen in a recess and dual adjustment buttons one after the other below that (they are also super clicky and shaped and textured like the fire button). This is all followed by a micro-USB port at the bottom of the control row.
At this point I would like to express my love for Shenzhen product copy, as the iJoy website states that this fire button (quote):
“emits strong fortitude, the mod has mysterious texture and the dual batteries have tantamount power.”
How lovely, phenomenal and fantastic, yay!
Screen:
Despite the screens diminutive size, it is very comprehensive, with all the details you could need, from pictorial battery display (both batteries), to mode and settings, voltage, resistance and puff count. I’m actually impressed by how readable and comprehensive this screen is for its size.
510:
The top of the mod features a centralised SS seating and deep, springy 510 connection for your tank, the mod bulges out slightly around the seating, so that even a 26mm tank can be fitted without overhang!
Handfeel:
Now I just want to mention that, while this mod really does look good, it does feel very light and plastic but luckily this is improved when batteries are inserted, the finish seems to be scratch resistant, durable and, with the 18650s in, the whole kit actually feels really good in the hand.
iJoy Mystique Tank
Now, while the Mystique Mesh kit is available, with a more affordable, disposable Mystique Mesh tank, I received the standard Mystique Kit, which features a solid, Mystique sub ohm tank.
This kit actually has quite an old-school look to it, something that is amplified by the Mystique sub ohm tanks protective SS tube, which covers the tank section and only exposes your juice levels through a little, upside down badge shaped window on either side.
This removable protector can be removed and it also features that water-cube design ‘skin’.
The 7mm high base of the tank consists of a naked SS inner ring, visible at the top and bottom of a movable airflow ring with heavy knurling, reminiscent of a medieval battlements crenellations (Google it, lol).
A Big Cyclops style airflow slot either side promises a wide airflow range here, on what is essentially a rather bulky and solid looking sub-ohm tank.
Unlike the mod, the Mystique tank is clearly made of stainless steel.
Above the tank section is another naked SS ring, which adds visual appeal, and above that is knurled, upward widening and then stepped top cap, to match that knurled base ring.
This has a discreet iJoy branding on one side.
There is a small arrow on the top step of the topical and when you push the cap it slides and clicks open, to reveal a kidney shaped fill slot.
There is a 510 Delrin drip tip, which, while I find the drip tip comfortable, I’m disappointed I can replace with an 810, as I feel that this would actually look sexy on the mystique, especially if I fit the bulky bubble glass accessory.
How Does The iJoy Mystique Kit Perform?
The Mod:
I have to say, I’ve been impressed with the performance of this kit, save just a couple of niggles regarding mode settings.
The mod’s light weight and ergonomic design feel good.
All the buttons and controls are noticeably responsive, I pick up a lot of mods that require a level of mind control to actually power down in 5 clicks without fail, but these buttons are so clicky and responsive that you can trust assured your control clicks will do their jobs.
I found new atty readings accurate and instant and had no trouble fitting a range of sub ohm tanks and RDAs to this mod.
I appreciate the fact that the mod lowers wattage to 15w when placed in Mouth to Lung (MTL) mode but don’t appreciate the fact that settings in any mode carry through when I then exit to another mode.
This might not bother everyone but If I’m vaping an MTL tank on my MTL setting I like to be able to return to my Power settings when I refit my sub-ohm tank.
Beyond that, Ramp time seems competitive and TC settings feel accurate and true, when tested for SS and Ni.
I also found the controls to be intuitive and easy to use, apart from the need to reset when I shift modes.
The Tank:
Okay, now…I noticed a bit of a crackle when vaping on the mystique tank, with both included coils…but this doesn’t bother me.
Airflow is otherwise outstanding and I actually enjoy this tank with an open airflow right down to very restricted (which is about half way closed).
If you enjoy a restricted Direct to Lung (DTL) vape this tank is very capable in that department, although closing it below a half it actually becomes too tight for DTL at higher wattages, I found.

Stock Coil Performance
MQ1 Mesh – 0.8Ohm
The pre-installed coil is a nice, beefy, MQ1 mesh coil 0.18 ohm coiled for a 40-80W vape. This coil head operates a charm from the low end of its range to the top. I am not exaggerating when I say this is a master of flavour and cloud, delivering rich, thick vapour just dripping with deliciousness. I fancy this coiled between 60 and 70W.
MQ2 Mesh – 0.2Ohm
The extra coil is the MQ2 which is also mesh but in dual coil configuration, it feels slightly tighter on the draw, delivering only marginally less flavour than the MQ1 but still really satisfying on both the flavour and vapour fronts. This coil head is a 0.2 ohm head, with a 40-70 W range and I like it at 55W.

Battery Life
I find the battery life to be excellent on the Mystique, giving me 7-9 hours on dual Samsung 2500s, vaping at between 50 and 70W.

Final Review Verdict
The iJoy Mystique Kit is an excellent and affordable option for beginner to experienced vapers who are looking for a good performer with outstanding vapour and even more outstanding flavour production.
It’s lightweight and ergonomics are easy on the hand and the decorative finish makes it look a lot more expensive than it is. Another great offering from iJoy!
