Another pod mod has just arrived with me, and this time it’s the Lost Vape Thelema.

There’s leather, metal, and all in all it looks like a very classy device, and Lost Vape describe it as a pod mod, and in all honesty I’m starting to lose track of what is a pod, a pod mod, an AIO, etc.

Lost Vape Thelema Product Shot in front of Packaging

But for the sake of simplicity I’m going to stick with their description for this review.

Thelama, by the way, is also the name of the religion created by the noted occultist Aleister Crowley.

So is Lost Vape’s Thelema as magickal as it’s namesake? Can it improve on the best pod systems currently available? Let’s find out!

What Can We Expect From The Thelema by Lost Vape?

Lost Vape was arguably the company to fire the starting gun on the pod explosion!

Its Orion DNA GO was the first pod device that used the well regarded DNA chipset, and they iterated on it heavily with a plethora of different devices. This version is part of the range that includes the excellent Lost Vape Thelema DNA250c Mod.

Lost Vape Thelema Handcheck

However as long time vapers will know, the DNA chipset is not the cheapest option. So Lost Vape came up with the Quest series, which uses its own chipset, to help keep the price down a little.

It’s not just pods that they are known for, with the Paranormal, and it’s updated sibling the Centaurus, being very well respected mods with a lovely leather wrap around the curve of the device.

The Thelema picks up on these design cues, and has a whole range of different leather options. Otherwise it’s a relatively standard pod mod system, a little larger than some of them, but a lot of that is down to having a 3000mAh battery that can fire up to 80W.

As usual, this was sent over free of charge for the purpose of review directly from Lost Vape – thank you. However I will report back honestly what I find without bias.

Design and Build Quality

There are 3 different colours for the zinc alloy section of the mod, and three different leather finishes, giving you a total of 9 different options.

Stainless Steel, Black, and Gunmetal are the options for the metal.

Lost Vape Thelema Colourways

Ukiran Leather, Glossy Leather, and Grain Leather are the options for the leather (and Lost Vape say it is real leather!). These come in different colours depending on the combination.

Lost Vape Thelema the Body

There’s a nice rounded section covered in leather on the back of the pod mod, it will be down to personal preference whether you think it looks sharp or not.

I’m pretty keen on it, but with a range of options, you’ll hopefully find one that suits.

Lost Vape Thelema Leather Wrap

The Ukiran leather that I have, has a pattern embossed into it (leaves and stuff). It’s fairly subtle, but it give a nice bit of added grip.

It’s very comfortable in the hand, and fairly light weight. As you probably know by now, I favour a slightly weightier device, but this feels solid and nicely put together.

Lost Vape Thelema "Lost Vape" Engraving

On the flat edges that are next to the screen, there’s Thelema on one panel, and Lost Vape on the other.

Lost Vape Thelema "Thelema" Engraving

Looking at the base of the mod, you could definitely be forgiven for thinking this is a removable battery mod. It has your regulatory marks and venting holes (always good to see).

Lost Vape Thelema Base of Mod

It really looks like you should be able to slide it across and open it up, do Lost Vape have a replaceable battery follow-up in mind? In any case, this is the first time I’ve seen a company actually list what type of battery is in a device (not just the capacity) and this is apparently a 23600.

So 23mm diameter, 60mm long and a round cell. Possibly not enough space for a removable battery then, as even an 18650 would be 5mm too long, and that’s without space for the contacts.

Lost Vape Thelema the Pod

The pod itself is made up of relatively dark PCTG. You’ve got a nice big fill hole on top, covered by a big rubber stopper marked “Oiling”, not sure the translation was quite right there!

As any seasoned vaper will know we NEVER put “oil” in a vape device, and especially with the issues surrounding EVALI in the states, the last thing we want is for people to associate oil with vaping.

Lost Vape Thelema Top of Pod

Happily I have heard that Lost Vape are fixing this on the retail version and it will say “Open”, so props to them for making this right!

There are two drip tips in the packaging, both of them are double o-ringed. One is more suited to mouth to lung (MTL), and the other is much wider bore for direct lung (DL). You can read more about the different styles of vaping here.

Lost Vape Thelema Drip Tips

I found that I actually preferred the thinner one of the two, but part of the reason was that the wider bore one never sat square on top of the pod. I was able to replace the o-rings and managed to get it right, but I actually preferred the slightly glossy thin bore, than the more matte wide bore.

Lost Vape Thelema Wide Bore Drip Tip

The thinner bore is still perfectly capable of a direct lung inhale, as it’s not too restrictive. As you’ll see on my testing I often preferred the flavour when the airflow was closed down a little, so this probably also suited this mouthpiece better.

The pod is held in place by 4 strong magnets, and you have the airflow control ring at the bottom of the pod. When you first open the packaging you will need to remove an orange plastic film that breaks the circuit.

Lost Vape Thelema Base of Pod

There’s a small window cut out into the front of the pod mod that is supposed to be there for checking your e-liquid level. Unfortunately I found that the combination of a dark plastic pod, and a recessed window, means it’s almost impossible to see.

Viewing Window

Happily it’s easy enough to pull the pod out quickly to check your level.

On either side of the device you have a another couple of holes which supply the airflow to your pod.

How To Fill The Lost Vape Thelema Tank

  • Lift the rubber flap  and fill with your preferred e-liquid
  • If you’re doing this with the pod still in the mod, it’s hard to see the e-liquid level, so be careful not to overfill
  • Remember to let it sit for 5 minutes if it’s a new coil, to make sure it’s fully saturated

How to Fill

At least once I did manage to accidentally lift up the rubber flap from the wrong side, totally detaching the cover!

The good news is that it’s easy enough to push it back in if you accidentally do.

How To Change The Lost Vape Thelema Coil

As with an increasing number of pod mods, the airflow control ring is separate to the coil, so when it comes to time to change your coil, don’t forget to keep this!

The airflow control ring has two large cyclops style holes, as well as a single hole that’s more suitable for Mouth To Lung.

One thing that I really appreciate is that you can change your coil when the pod is almost full of e-liquid. The holes to allow you liquid into the coil are set about 1mm from the base of the pod (so at the top when you’re changing your coil). So long as you haven’t just filled it, you should be fine to change the coil and not lose any e-liquid.

How to Change Coil

  • Remove the pod from the device
  • Turn it upside and pull out the old col
  • Unscrew the airflow ring from your old coil and screw it on to the new coil
  • Insert the new coil into the pod, you

Lost Vape Thelema Screen and Controls

You’ve got a nice clicky fire button above the screen.

The screen itself is a full colour 0.96″ TFT, plenty bright enough and displays all your important information.

Enlarged Screen

Battery and resistance at the top of the screen, a nice big display for your wattage, with the time of the last puff and the puff counter at the bottom.

You can also see the various different accent colours along the bottom that you can use for the screen. Blue, Yellow, White, Red, Green and Purple. I had mine set to green for most of my testing to match the leather!

It’s a simple 3 button device, with only Variable Wattage as an option it doesn’t need to get too complex!

  • 5 – Clicks On/Off
  • “+” and “-” Together – Locks the +/- buttons
  • “+” and Fire – Change the display colour
  • “-” and Fire – Reset the Puff Counter

Pressing the + or – buttons changes the wattage in 0.5W increments.

Hold down the button and it scrolls through the full range pretty quickly.

Once at the maximum or minimum, press the button again and it will round robin.

How Does the Lost Vape Thelema Perform?

As well as the Ultra Boost M4 coil (0.2Ω) and the M1 coil (0.3Ω), Lost Vape also sent me the rest of their Ultra Boost coils to test.

The others are 0.15Ω, 0.6Ω and 1.0Ω. So strap in for a my impressions on all five of the coils!

Coil Selection

These are the same coils used in the Q-Ultra, so if you have one of those you’ll be able to interchange coils.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.15Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Wow, this thing can really chuck some impressive clouds!

Thick and luscious vapour production, with plenty of airflow to sustain it.

Testing it out over a variety of different airflows and wattage, I found that wide open is the best for this coil – plenty of airflow!

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.15Ω Coil – Flavour

Top notch flavour, absolutely no complaints with any of the various e-liquids that I put through it, and fruits managed to be as well presented as bakery flavours.

Be warned though, this coil absolutely ploughs through your e-liquid though!

I’m very glad that I had the non TPD 4ml, as I feel that with 2ml I would have gone through the tank in a dozen or so puffs!

65W was my sweet spot with this coil, and personally I wouldn’t recommend anything below 50W as I found that the flavour tended to drop off quite dramatically.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.2Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Fully open this also puts out a decent amount of vapour.

It’s not quite as thick and voluminous as the 0.15 coil, but certainly nothing to complain about.

There’s plenty of vapour production and a very smooth airflow.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.2Ω Coil – Flavour

Really good flavour from the 0.2Ω right from the outset.

All the flavour notes are well presented, and it manages to keep the flavour all the way through it’s rated range (40-60W).

You can definitely push it a little higher if you like a warmer vape, but there wasn’t any increase in flavour past about 55W.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.3Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Airflow is close to the 0.2Ω, but the vapour production was noticeably less.

Whereas with the 0.2 coil I was tending to only inhale for about 2 seconds, with the 0.3 I found I was closer to 3 seconds.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.3Ω Coil – Flavour

I found that this coil took about a pod of e-liquid to properly break in, before this I was worried that I had a duff coil as it wasn’t terribly pronounced at all.

After running some e-liquid through it, the flavour started to improve a little. It still wasn’t quite as pronounced as either of the two previous coils though.

Closing the airflow down half way improved matters, but not massively. Flavour wasn’t bad, and all the flavour notes were well presented, just felt a little weak sauce.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.6Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Definitely less airflow and cloud production than from the previous coils on this one.

It’s still possible to do a DTL inhale, but I found that I was happiest restricting the airflow right down and using it as more as a loose MTL.

Used this way, there’s definitely less cloud production, but still plenty respectable for mouth to lung.

Lost Vape Thelema – 0.6Ω Coil – Flavour

Comparable flavour to the 0.2Ω here.

Really nice, strong flavours right from the word go.

Used fully open I think it loses a little bit of punch, so I was happier with it as a MTL coil.

Lost Vape Thelema – 1.0Ω Coil – Airflow and Cloud Production

Much less airflow on this coil!

If you take a look at the coil you can see why. Rather than having a large cyclops hole on the coil, this one just has 2 small circular holes for air.

So regardless what you do with the airflow control ring, this is a much tighter draw, definitely mouth to lung only.

Lost Vape Thelema – 1.0Ω Coil – Flavour

For a 1Ω coil the flavour is perfectly acceptable.

Flavours come through strong and clear.

Although I started off using a 70/30 eliquid (as I had for all the previous coils) – I found that a 50/50 gave much better results.

Lost Vape Thelema – Battery

Using the 0.2Ω Coil I was able to get an impressive 305 puffs out of it of 2-3 seconds each, this was running at 50W. Moving over to the 0.3Ω at 30W I managed 381 puffs.

To be honest, I expect I could have gotten slightly longer out of the 0.3Ω. However I think I was vaping for slightly longer as it wasn’t providing quite as much vapour as the 0.2Ω coil, so I was taking longer draws.

Output doesn’t seem to drop off at all, until you get a low battery warning and it refuses to fire.

As for charging, Lost Vape tout that you can get a full charge in one hour.

So far I’ve not been able to come close to this. Every time I’ve been timing it, it took me just over two hours to charge.

Possibly I need to use a different charger, but I’m not convinced, as the charger and cable I’m using can charge my computer fine!

Worth noting is that you cannot vape whilst it’s charging, there is no pass through here.

So if you want have a vape when you’re charging it up, just remove the charging cable first, then plug it back in when you’ve had your vape.

Any other thoughts?

Aside from not really being able to check your e-liquid level (without removing the pod), and the use of the word “Oiling” on the fill port (which they are thankfully changing), my only other criticism is minor.

I would really like to see a 510 adapter plate for this!

We’ve seen this type of adapter on a variety of other pod mods, and I can’t see a reason you wouldn’t be able to do this on the Lost Vape Thelema.

With a 510 adapter you’d get the option of upgrading from the pod at some point, and using a standard tank.

I think the Thelema would make a nice little internal battery 80W mod, that I’d be more than happy to put other tanks on, so what do you think Lost Vape? An accessory for the future?

Pros

  • Impressive battery life
  • Good range of coils with good flavour and vapour production
  • Very easy to use
  • Good looking

Cons

  • Can’t really check e-liquid level through the window
  • 510 Adapter would be nice

Final Review Verdict

So a lovely little bit of kit, with a design that’s very reminiscent of some of their expensive box mods.

The Ultra Boost coils are all perfectly capable coils, the 0.15Ω is especially tasty. There’s nothing world beating in these coils, but I’d be more than happy recommending them.

If you’re wanting to do DIY, they also make an RBA coil that will fit it in.

It’s a comfortable pod mod to hold, the leather wrap feels good, and the the device itself is lightweight but reassuringly rigid.

It’s possibly a little bigger than some people might like, but this is due mostly to its ability to fire at 80W and have a decent battery life.

I started my vaping journey in 2017 with a little AIO kit. I’d made several attempts to give up smoking over the years, and I finally nailed it with vaping. I knew right away that I wanted to learn as much about all these devices as possible, and I quickly got into rebuildables and replaceable battery mods. I’ve always enjoyed kit and technology, so I’ve built up quite a collection of different tanks and mods. I love knowing how things work and what to do to get the best out of them, so sharing that knowledge and helping more people quit smoking is something I’m passionate about.

lost-vape-thelema-pod-mod-reviewA pod mod from Lost Vape that has echoes of their expensive box mods. Classy, comfortable, and a battery that not only lasts well, but will hit 80W. Nothing terribly new or innovative, but a really solidly built device with a good range of coils.

  1. Thanks for trying again the performance of these coils Dean! Seems I’ll like it the way it is loose mtl and could even use the 0.6ohm coil for rdl or mtl as you did for even better flavor than 1.0ohm. Apart from that what’s your recommendations for this style of vaping mtl tight or loose or rdl under 25w?

    • Hah, I’m Will! Dean (The Devil Vaper) is a far more illustrious reviewer than me. He mostly reviews on Youtube now, you should check him out.

As for me personally, based on the fact you’re interested in the Thelema, I’m going to guess you are looking for stock coils rather than a rebuildable. Have you considered getting a small mod and a tank rather than a pod kit? As for me personally, it takes a lot to beat the Nautilus range of tanks by Aspire. I reviewed the GT Mini quite recently, and you could pair that up with a small internal battery mod. Alternatively, Harley liked the Vaporesso Gen Mini Kit. Which might fit the bill?

Anyway, hope that helps a little. There’s a lot of options out there, and to be honest it’s quite hard to get a bad one these days. Hope you find something you like!
      Will

      • Yes, stock coils, simplicity of use and good flavor of something like the Innokin Z-Coils or stock mesh coils we see makes fiddling with an RTA unnecessary for me. I’m now looking more for a pod mod vape easily handling on the go, stuff I have here is kroma zlide kit, target mini 2, nfix, xros and z-biip. Thelema maybe would be little bit looser on mtl than these which is fine, I think about the Nautilus Prime AIO, Argus Air or V.Thru Pro from Voopoo.

  2. Not very much about how was the mtl experience on this kit. The 2 big airholes make me think it would be very very loose mtl at best even using the 1.0ohm coil.

    • It was perfectly acceptable actually. The airflow ring can be closed pretty much all the way down.

Having said that, this is not what I would get if I was after a good MTL experience. I rather get the feeling that manufacturers feel they have to put in a MTL coil, even if it’s not that impressive!

      Cheers for reading the review,
      Will

      • If I get this I’ll get it for mtl or rdl, if I say I’m ok with loose mtl can you recommend it? I like how it looks. I’m actually concerned about the flavor from the 1.0ohm coil

        • Due to your interest I’ve filled it up again and gone over the 1.0Ω coil!

It’s definitely a loose MTL, even using the pinhole opening on the AFC ring. Switching it round to the wider opening, you can manage quite a nice restricted DL. On the tight to loose 1-10 scale. It’s about a 3.5 to a 5.

Flavour is actually not bad at all, it’s not anything special, but it’s competent. Though based on my experience I’d probably recommend a 50/50 or 60/40, as I think you want a decently punchy flavour to get the best out of the coil.

For restricted DL, or even MTL. I’d say you should also try the 0.6Ω. It’s not as restricted, but if you like a loose MTL it can definitely handle it.

Remember though, these are only my thoughts (as with any review!) and there are going to be different opinions out there. So have a search for what other people have said, I’m fairly certain Dean aka The Devil Vaper, did a review on YouTube about this one.

          Anyway, I hope that helps!
          Will
