The Lost Vape UB Lite is the latest pod kit release from a brand that has made a huge name for themselves.

It sure looks funky so does it deliver all that it promises?

What Can We Expect From Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit?

This is quite a simple pod kit at first impression, but it does have some clever features.

Firstly the chip will adjust the output (up to 30W) according to which coil is installed and there are 3 different coil types available.

ublite main image

  • L1 0.4ohm Mesh (DTL) (included in kit)
  • L3 0.8ohm Mesh (DTL) (available separately)
  • L5 1.4ohm Mesh (MTL) (included in kit)

This uses the UB Lite coil range – which does not appear to be compatible with any of the other UB (Ultra Boost) devices.

If the terms “MTL” or “DTL” leave you scratching your head, have a read of our Guide To Vape Styles.

Inside the device is a 1000mAh battery which is charged via the USB Type C port.

ub lite battery

An LED indicator displays the battery capacity remaining plus the power level.

An airflow adjustment lever is located on the back of the mod – which makes me happy – I always like to see adjustable airflow!

The pod is refillable and you can change the coils.ub lite filling

When it comes to firing you can either manually use the fire button or with the auto draw feature simply inhale on the mouthpiece for the mod to fire.

There are 7 colour options to choose from: Galaxy Blue, Fantasy Pink, Magic Red, Tiffany Green, Midnight Black, Mystic Gunmetal and Space Silver.

These devices were sent to me free of charge for review purposes – thank you muchly!

And as usual, I will report back honestly on my findings with the devices supplied.

Design and Build Quality

I received the Lost Vape UB Lite kit in both the Mystic Gunmetal and Magic Red colours, and I also received some spare coils – thank you Lost Vape!

Both kits arrive in pristine condition and were well packaged.

UB Lite front views

The instructions are good – not much info missing – only the charging rate.

ub lite lanyard

I also applaud the inclusion of a lanyard as this kit is ideal for wearing around the neck for quick vapes.

There are two slight gripes with the kit before I have even used it – the USB cable is only 15cm long (not much use to me really) and the resistance of the coils is very hard to see.

ub lite kit usb cable

You get 2 different coils in the kit and you will need to know which coil you are installing to make sure you use the correct e-liquid in the pod.

ub lite included coils

Lost Vape UB Lite Mod

This is a cute little device with a textured flat area on the front – with an almost rubbery grip feel.

I have tried scraping this with a fingernail and it doesn’t scratch or come off so should be pretty hard wearing.

ub lite size compared with pen

The fire button is super responsive and you barely have to push it far for the fire to activate.

A really handy feature is the ability to lock the fire button with 3 clicks but the draw activation still works.

I like this a lot as it prevents accidental firing. But bear in mind on the RDL airflow settings the draw activation isn’t reliable.

ub lite texture

There are no adjustments or screen to contend with – only an LED indicator to inform of the battery capacity remaining or power setting.

Although the LED is small it is well located and bright to be able to see when it lights up when vaping.

ub lite led

The USB port is located on the base of the mod so it is a case of lying it down to charge – but I have had no leaking issues so I am not concerned about this at all.

ub lite top bottom

On the rear of the mod is the airflow adjustment slider you can move the lever to any position from RDL to MTL and anything in-between.

ub lite airflow control

The little pin on the slider doesn’t protrude far which is a bonus for being pocket friendly but it can be a bit fiddly to adjust and will need a fingernail or similar to slide it.

ub lite side view airflow

I did find I kept blocking the airflow intake with my finger a lot when vaping – so you do have to try to avoid this!

The body has a metallic paint finish which so far has held up well and the shape and weight feel great in the hand.

Lost Vape UB Lite Pod

The pod has a whistle type mouthpiece which is very comfortable but obviously this limits the position in the mouth.

It is only flat on 2 sides so you will often find yourself turning the device if vaping without looking.

ub lite mouthpiece

I did find the most comfortable position for the mouthpiece was when the fire button was facing me – which is a bit of a pain as you can’t see the LED indicator then!

The front of the pod has a circular shape with the LV logo and this sits snugly in the cut out on the front of the mod.

So you cannot install the pod the wrong way around – you will need to align this.

ub lite pod cutout

The fill port is located on the side of the pod base, so you kind of have to have the pod horizontal or upside down to fill.

The fill port cover has a cut out for putting a nail into to lift the cover and you can carefully swivel the cover around to get at the port easily.

I had no issues with filling using 10ml bottles or a thin spout 100ml bottle as the port is such a good size. I tip the pod upside down to prevent any airlock issues.

ub lite pod cover

Coil installation and removal is a simple push in and pull out affair, but this does bring about a bit of a design fault – see my next section for why…ub lite pod seal

I did find it hard sometimes to remove the pod as it sits very tightly in the mod and there is not much to grip onto to pull it out.

It has a dark tint which isn’t great for viewing liquid levels but you can tip the mod upside down and the e-liquid should be visible in the mouthpiece area of the pod – so you can do a quick check without removing the pod.

ub lite e-liquid level

Other than the flaw mentioned below and when changing coils I have had no leaks in normal use.

Lost Vape UB Lite – Pod Design Flaw…

So the magnet in the mod is a circular shape which is supposed to magnetically attract to the ring on the base of the pod.

But – multiple times now – I have pulled out the pod – either to refill or check the liquid level and the coil has stayed in the mod – held onto the magnet and the pod has pulled out. The result is e-liquid everywhere!

base contacts

As there is little to grip hold of to pull out the pod I often use this method to remove it.

ub lite push pod out

I do have some grip issues with my hands so I am not sure again if I am making this worse as I have not seen anyone else complain about this so far – so it could be my gammy hands?

This is a design flaw and several times now I have been covered in e-liquid – it also isn’t healthy for the mod to be filled with liquid right by the electrical contacts.

See a video demonstration below of what happens. Note there is a lot of tissue about as I had spillages from this issue before!

Sadly trying to remove the pod one handed (was holding phone with other hand!) doesn’t help!

The problem seems to be having the magnet so near the base of the coil – it is a very strong magnet and the coil is only a push in and pull out fitment.

Perhaps an additional securing mechanism for the coil – even a screw in coil would prevent this happening.

As the pod can only be installed one way around the circular magnet is not really required.

The only way I have found around this is to always remove the pod with the device held upside down – that way if the coil does come out at least the e-liquid stays in the pod! After a few mishaps you do learn your lesson!

Quick Start Guide

The device arrives with no coil installed in the pod – so make sure to follow the instructions below to get started!

components

Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit – Basic Operation

  • Turn On / Off = 5 clicks of the fire button
  • Lock / Unlock Fire Button = 3 clicks of the fire button (you can still use the “auto draw” feature but the fire button is locked)
  • LED Battery indicator: Red Light = less than 3.7V (Charge now), Blue Light = between 3.7 and 3.9V, Green Light = fully charged.ub lite LED
  • LED Indicator When charging will slowly pulsate through the different colours as the battery charge increases. When fully charged the green light will stay constantly lit.
  • Adjust airflow = move the airflow lever to the right for a tighter airflow or to the left for a more open airflow. You can play with this and any of the settings in-between to find your preference.ub lite airflow
  • LED Power level indication = when you install the pod the LED will light up to show which power level is selected automatically according to the resistance of the coil: Red=0.4ohm coil, Blue=0.8ohm coil and Green=1.4ohm coil.ub lite output
  • Vaping = you can either press the fire button manually (with the button unlocked) or use the Auto draw feature – which basically means that you inhale on the mouthpiece and a sensor will trigger the fire system automatically.fire button

Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit – Protections

  • Charging – you cannot vape whilst charging
  • Low battery – the LED will flash 5 times and the device will cut out until charged
  • Short circuit – the LED will flash white 3 times
  • Open circuit – when no atomiser is detected or an open circuit (possibly faulty coil or dirty contacts) the LED will flash 3 times
  • Over time – if the fire button is held down for longer than 10 seconds the LED will flash 8 times and the power will cut out. This is to prevent accidental firing – for example in a bag or pocket and burning out the coil or overheating device.

Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit – How To Charge The Battery

  • Using the included USB C cable, plug the small end into the port on the base of the mod. You may notice I am not using the included cable as it is way too flipping short.ub lite usb
  • Connect the large end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet.
  • The light will change colour as the device charges and when fully charged the green light will stay on (not pulsing).charging

No charging rate is stated so I am not sure if “Quick Charge” adaptors – such as 2A output plugs will be of benefit for quicker charging?

I found using a 1A charge plug this took 1 hour and 20 mins for a full charge.

Subsequent charges have all been roughly the same between 1hr 15 and 1hr 30.

How To Remove the Lost Vape UB Lite Pod

I would suggest you always hold the device upside down – just in case the coil doesn’t come out with the pod – this will save you getting covered in e-liquid!

However you can sometimes get e-liquid coming through the hole in the mouthpiece if the coil comes out but not as much as you would if it was the correct way up.

  • Simply pull the pod from the mod. I found that as there is nothing to really grip onto I would push on the “LV” circular logo on the pod with my thumb. Sadly this method often results in the coil coming out of the pod and staying in the mod. removal
  • When installing there is only one way around the pod will fit correctly – a semi-circular cut out aligns with the circle logo on the pod.

How To Fill the Lost Vape UB Lite Pod

  • Remove the pod from the mod.
  • Put a nail under the lip of the cover and lift up the cover from the fill port. You can also gently swivel the cover around to hold it out the way when filling.ub lite fill port
  • Add e-liquid whilst watching the level through the pod. filling
  • Replace the fill port cover.
  • Replace the pod in the mod.

How To Replace the Lost Vape UB Lite Coil

  • Remove the pod from the mod.
  • Sadly there is likely to be some e-liquid coming out the mouthpiece when you pull the coil out – lying the pod on its side helps a bit but you will still need some tissues about.
  • Turn the pod upside down and pull out the coil from the pod base. coil installation
  • To install simply push the coil into the base of the pod making sure the straight edge of coil is aligned with the straight edge on pod. Make sure it is pushed in fully.direction
  • Fill the pod as described above.
  • If this is the first use of a coil leave the device to stand for 10 minutes to allow the coil to fully absorb e-liquid before pressing the fire button.
  • Replace the pod in the mod.

How Does the Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit Perform?

As there are 3 different coil types I found myself using 2 different types of e-liquid.

Lost Vape state that the 0.4ohm L1 coil is suitable for Direct To Lung vaping which usually uses higher VG% in the e-liquid – basically over 60%VG and lower nicotine strength for this coil

coils

However the 1.4ohm L5 coil is specified as being for Mouth To Lung vaping which usually uses a lower VG proportion – so 60% or 50% VG e-liquid is ideal.

Also these e-liquids will have a higher nicotine strength as this coil is used at a lower power level so the throat hit will come from the nicotine rather than the power output.

As Lost Vape kindly sent me some L3 0.8ohm coils (not usually included in the kit) I will review those too!

1.4ohm L5 Coil (Included In Kit)

For this coil I used a 50%VG / 50%PG e-liquid – Crazycloudzzz Crazysaltzzz in Bubblegum flavour.

This is a nicotine salt mid-strength and ideal for MTL pod kits.

From the first vape this was beautiful – I am currently using the Innokin Sceptre and Sensis kits with the 1.2ohm Sceptre coils and they are my favourite for flavour and throat hit.

To me these kits right now are unbeatable – so you could say I have been a bit spoiled!

But the UB Lite is very very close flavour wise – if you set up the airflow correctly which I will touch on in more detail in the airflow section.

The flavour is clear and the sweet bubblegum is coming through in spades, it is a warmish vape which always improves flavour I find.

With this coil I am very happy at recommending this as a MTL kit for nic salt or high nic vapers!

This coil is still going strong with over 15 refills (30ml) of nic salt e-liquid so far. In fact the flavour keeps getting better!

0.4ohm L1 Coil (Included In Kit)

For this coil I used Candy Labs Cherry which is 70%VG / 30%PG to which I have added slightly lower strength nicotine salt.

All I can say is “WOW”!!

I have set the airflow to the same MTL setting as the 1.4ohm coil (1/5th open) – so I have the weird combination of sub ohm flavour with MTL throat hit which is absolutely amazing!

With the airflow more open the flavour is still amazing but closing that airflow down I can feel the sherbet like tingle and the sweet cherry is absolutely popping off my tongue.

The good news is that with the RDL airflow setting with this coil the clouds increase no end. Still not in the category of a “Cloud chucker” by any means but there is a good breath long exhale of cloudy vapour but you can still see the other side of the room.

I know this e-liquid despite being absolutely delicious is a bit of a coil killer so I will not be testing this coil for longevity – it would be unfair with a liquid which I know gunks up coils a lot.

There were zero wicking issues and I am already on my 4th pod full (8ml so far!) and flavour still brilliant.

What an amazing sensation it is having the throat hit and rich high VG flavour combined – I absolutely love this coil!

The added bonus is being able to get a great nic and throat hit with higher VG e-liquid which gives such a better flavour and is so much cheaper to buy than single 10ml Nic Salt bottles.

Normally MTL kits struggle to wick thicker e-liquid which gives a burnt flavour and damages coils prematurely so this really is incredible.

Who would have thought a basic MTL kit would handle higher VG e-liquid so well – I am a convert!

0.8ohm L3 Coil (Available Separately)

This coil is a bit confusing for me.

Lost Vape specify this is a RDL coil – but this is a grey area for which e-liquid I should use.

So to solve that I have tried my top strength nic salt and the 70%VG which I used with the other coils to find where this coil is happiest.

Firstly I tried the 70%VG e-liquid and left it a good while to prime the coil.

Straight away the flavour with this e-liquid is incredible yet again, it is a lot cooler vape than with the 0.4ohm coil but nevertheless pretty tasty.

The throat hit isn’t quite as strong either – you can tell the output is lower.

I am getting less vapour than with the 0.4ohm but that really is to be expected. For high VG this coil isn’t as good as the 0.4ohm but still decent to be fair.

Using the 0.8ohm coil with nicotine salt 50%VG liquid is much better so for me I would recommend using it for stronger nicotine.

The throat hit is even better, the vape is warmer than the 1.4ohm obviously and the flavour has definitely increased.

To sum up for strong nicotine e-liquid 50%VG this coil is way better than the 1.4ohm. For 70%VG e-liquid this coil does not perform as well as the 0.4ohm.

But equally this coil can cope with anything from 40% to at least 70%VG e-liquid quite happily so it a lot more versatile than the other 2 coils.

Lost Vape UB Lite Pod Kit Airflow

Firstly using the 1.4ohm coil I found the airflow to be a great MTL setting for about the first 1/5th of the adjustment. If you open the airflow wider than that you lose some flavour but even worse the auto draw fire does not operate well.

In the lower restriction setting it is fast and as good as pressing the button manually. However open the airflow past about 1/2 way and the auto draw doesn’t work well.

Either it takes a lot of sucking to get it to fire, or it doesn’t stay firing or won’t fire at all.

So if you like a wider open airflow setting you will be restricted to using this with the button activation only.

With the 0.4ohm coil the airflow is surprisingly similar. I love it in the MTL setting – just 1/5th off the tightest airflow.

Again with the airflow lever moved towards the RDL setting the auto draw firing is pretty hit and miss.

As there is quite a lot of airflow adjustment you should be able to find a happy setting from a fully closed airflow to around a 6/10 restriction (1 being close and 10 being fully open).

Lost Vape UB Lite Battery Life

Using the 1.4ohm coil I got around 13 hours of use (12hr 50mins to be exact) which is pretty epic for such a small kit. This was with regular vaping in 2 sessions.

With the 0.4ohm coil I got 7 hours of vaping altogether in two sessions – this was with mid strength nicotine high VG e-liquid.

Obviously your vaping habits and nicotine strength will impact the battery life figures for you but this is just for a guide.

Pros

  • 3 coils to choose from with 2 included in the kit – all 3 coils perform well
  • Flavour is wonderful as is the throat hit with both coils
  • High VG and MTL airflow with 0.4ohm coil – a new sensation for me and I love it!
  • Auto Draw or fire button operation – in MTL airflow mode the Auto Draw is super quick to fire
  • Ability to turn off the device and lock fire button – handy for carrying around
  • Comes in some very pretty colours
  • Battery life is excellent and quick USB Type C charging of around 1hr 15 to 1hr 30.
  • Handy lanyard included in kit and light enough to wear around neck happily.
  • Really economical on e-liquid use with 1.4ohm and 0.4ohm coils!
  • Can lock the fire button so you can just use the draw inhale – which is handy to prevent accident firing
  • Despite the great capacity battery this kit is really small and light
  • No leaks in day to day use (apart from coil removal)
  • Great airflow adjustment – from a fully closed to a decent RDL
  • Decent size fill port – no problems with 10ml bottles and even a slim nozzle 100ml was fine!

Cons

  • Magnet in mod often pulls the coil out when removing the pod – makes a huge mess!
  • USB Cable really short – 15cm – not much use!
  • Pod quite dark – but you can tip it up to view liquid in the mouthpiece
  • Hard to grip pod to remove
  • Auto draw activation depends on airflow setting
  • The markings on the coil are almost impossible to see – perhaps some kind of colour coding to O-rings or similar would help a lot.
  • Position of hand during use can often block the airflow intake so you do have to learn to reposition your fingers!

Final Review Verdict

I am disappointed in the magnet issue.

The way around this is to only remove the pod when it is tipped upside down to prevent the liquid coming out if the coil is retained in the mod.

It is easy to forget though and has still caught me out! It might be my poor grip in my hands which caused me to have this issue but it did happen a lot.

Unfortunately this issue did impact the score – otherwise it would be close to getting full marks for performance!

Using this with the 1.4ohm coil in an MTL set up this is very close in flavour and performance as my Innokin Sceptre (which is epic). The battery life is also impressive.

The 0.4ohm coil is wonderful – full of flavour and happily wicks 70%VG despite only looking to be a tiny coil. Combine this with the MTL airflow and Yummy!

Who would have thought High VG MTL vaping would be so ace! I applaud you Lost Vape!

Now I can save money- instead of buying expensive 10ml nic salt e-liquid – I finally have a MTL kit I can use a 100ml shortfill e-liquid in!

I add nic salt until it becomes mid nicotine strength! I am going to save a bloody fortune!

If you switch between high VG and lower VG e-liquids grab the 0.8ohm coils as they can happily cope with wicking from 50% to 70% VG.

Just remember keep that pod tipped upside when removing it and I think you will love this kit as much as me!

Is this a pod kit you’re using or planning on buying?

lost-vape-ub-lite-pod-kit-reviewAlthough this is a beautiful kit to vape on - the coil coming out of the pod when you remove the pod is a big issue - covering me, my clothes and furniture in e-liquid several times. So make sure to only remove the pod when the device is upside down - this has resulted in a lower score sadly. The 1.4ohm coil is perfect with nic salt and the 0.4ohm coil with high VG and MTL airflow has turned my world upside down! If you use both types of e-liquid the 0.8ohm coil (purchase separately) copes with both very happily. A great range of airflow adjustment gives a MTL vape that should keep anyone happy.

  1. Hey, I’ve never had the problem with the magnet that you seem to have, try pushing the coil in the pod bit maybe its not secured in properly? Hope this helps!

  2. good kit but green light came on after 3 weeks and it wont go off it just will not work worst ever ive had if it is not resolved

  3. Just purchased this so late to the party I know, but great review and I’m hoping you can answer my questions?

So I’ve recently gone from full on sub ohm vaper (squonking, RDA, RTA etc), and usualy mix my 100ml juices to 3mg, to now I’m almost exclusively an MTL vaper (10mg Salts, using the kayfun 2020, Zenith 2, Vthru, koko prime). I’m very interested to know what nic salts strengths your mixing your high VG juices to for the .4 coil with this kit? I have a ton of 100ml bottles all mixed to 3mg, would it be advisable to mix more nic into these to get say a 6mg for this kit so I’m getting the flavour and throat hit? I’m thinking it might impact the flavour as I’ve already added 2x 18mg nic for each 100ml bottle, but I really like the throat hit I get with MTL and would really love to use all my high VG juices in this kit, so yeah could you let me know the strengths and amounts of nic salts you use to get the flavour/throat hit balance right in the higher VG juices?

Sorry for the mega rant but again thanks, and as you said in your review being able to vape high VG flavour with a throat hit in this kit has me quite excited lol!

    • Hi there, I added pure nic salt in PG to my 70%VG e-liquid to approx 6mg – and at that strength it was such a lovely MTL vape! Sadly the e-liquid I used is a coil killer, I have found it before in other kits – but for the sake of testing it worked perfectly. I think adding loads of nic shots will dilute your flavour a lot. I used just nic at 7.2mg so I needed less than 10ml for a 100ml bottle. Hence why it doesnt dilute the flavour as much. Its almost impossible to get hold of pure nic nowadays due to TPD – I did have a stash I stored before the laws changed but sadly that is almost gone now.

      • Thx Michelle! I have managed to find the 7.2 nic salt.

This is PG so adding 10ml of this to 100ml should do the trick?

Thanks again for the info and help!

        Baz

        • That is what I do 10ml of that to 100ml e-liquid is very very roughly 7.2mg – very very roughly – maths is not my cup of tea.

By the way had to remove your link – so sorry but I have used where you posted too!

Hope it works for you as I really enjoyed this in the UB Lite! You can always add a bit more of the pure nic too without affecting the flavour – I would make up some smaller bottles to test how much Nic works before you do the whole batch as you cant remove it if it is too strong hehe!

          Shell

  4. Great review. The 0.8ohm coil sounds great! Sounds like it would be perfect for the Element NS20 liquids, as although they’re 20mg salt they are all 65%VG.
Shame about the magnet issue, and why do so many companies insist on dark tinted pods.

    • Thanks JD – the Elements would really kick with the 0.8ohm coil would be brill!
Yeh the pod is just that bit too dark – awkward when filling too!
