Sigelei 75W TC Mod Review

Sigelei have been one of the longest standing e-cig manufacturers, yet they were one of the last of the ‘big’ manufacturers to enter the temperature control market.

Their first entry is a small single 18650 75w temperature control unit, known as the Sigelei 75w TC (TC standing for Temperature Control in case you didn’t figure that one out!) and available at a very competitive price.

Sporting a small form factor, 75w of power, temperature control functionality for Ni200 coils, micro USB charging and magnetic battery door covers, that can be swapped out for different coloured ones, this is one small box packing one big punch! Read on to see how the Sigelei 75w TC performs.

It’s a nice touch by Sigelei to include the silicon case within the packaging, this will help protect the nice shiny finish from any unwanted scratches! The micro USB cable is solely there for charging the unit, as far as I am aware the chip contained within the 75w TC is not firmware upgradeable.

Battery / Body / Build

On first impressions, this is a small unit that feels really nice within your hand. It’s a little taller than some other single 18650 battery units, and a touch heftier, but it’s a solid mod with second to none build quality. The brushed steel finish on the battery doors is top notch and even without using the silicon case this seems pretty scratch resistant. I’ve carried it around in my pocket with keys and suchlike, and it hasn’t picked up a visible scratch.

A spring loaded 510 connector is found at the top with buttery smooth threading for that flush fit, there’s a little bit of space either side when you screw in a 22mm atomiser and the rounded edges can give a slight impression of overhang, but all in all you’d have to be examining the unit really closely to notice anything.

The Sigelei Elite 75w looks particularly good with the Sigelei Elite tank or the PSO Silverplay V2 for example, and even the Smok TFV4 tank is a good fit,

Buttons are nice and responsive, and I’ve not run into any issues with the buttons. The OLED screen found on the same side is a good size and displays the usual information such as battery life, power, temperature limit and battery voltage.

All of the settings are adjusted from this screen with button click combinations rather than scrolling through a traditional menu. This makes it really user friendly once you have memorised the combinations!

The magnetic battery door covers are a particular highlight of this unit. The brushed steel finish is outstanding and it lends a real premium feel to the 75w TC, plus you are able to pop both of these off to access the battery compartment and remove your battery. A micro USB battery charging port is found at the base of the Sigelei 75w TC should you need to charge on the both, and vent holes are present here for safety.

The Sigelei 75w TC takes a single 18650 battery and this is a slight issue that I have had with this unit- this seems to run out far too quickly no matter what 18650 battery you are using. It seems to me to be one of the most power hungry 18650 units, and I’ve noticed the battery seems to drain far quicker than any other single 18650 unit I have ever used!

How Does The Sigelei 75W TC mod Perform?

Battery lifespan is a bit of a negative with this unit. I’ve noticed battery lifespan to be around 2-3 hours with heavy use in the 50-75w region, around 4-5 hours with moderate usage in the 25-35w region. For some reason, this does seem to be an extremely power hungry unit, I don’t know if this is down to poor chip efficiency, and Sigelei themselves have noted this and are releasing a 26650 battery version to offer much longer battery life!

Despite the poor battery life the chip itself gives the Sigelei 75w TC great performance. It performs just as well as any other unit in power mode, and with 75w to play with this does pack a mean punch. You have also got 75w to use in temperature control mode (with Ni200 coils only), which is actually a fair bit more than a few other TC mods around!

I’ve found that using temperature control I have had to set my temperature limit around 10-20c more than I have with other TC units, to achieve the same results. Temperature does not update in real time like it does with other units, so you cannot see the temperature increase or decrease when you hit the power button.

Settings on the Sigelei 75w TC are all adjusted via a combination of button clicks, rather than using a traditional menu system. Once you have memorised these this allows you to adjust settings on the fly pretty quickly, but you might find yourself scratching your head a couple of times in the early stages.

To get the Sigelei 75w TC into temperature control mode, you need to hold up and down for a few seconds, until you see ‘TEMP’ displayed, select that then press the power button. Wait until your atomiser and mod are at room temperature then hold power and down to lock in the base resistance, which the Sigelei is very accurate at reading.

You need to then quick press up and down in order to change the temperature limit of your unit, then quick press up and down again to switch back to adjusting the power. When in power mode, up and down will lock the unit against accidental button presses.

All in all, aside from the short battery life, the Sigelei 75w TC does perform extremely well, it’s very responsive and powerful.

Final Sigelei 75W TC Review Verdict

It’s a really good first temperature control effort from Sigelei, a very good performer that does the job consistently and is about as powerful as it gets for a single 18650 unit.

Plus, with 75w also available in TC, and resistance in this mode supported down to 0.05ohm, it’s actually one of the most powerful temperature control units available. Looks wise, it does look fantastic, the form factor is great and you will love the feel of it in your hand.

It’s ideal for home or occasional use, but the negative with battery life would prevent me from recommending it as an out and about unit. The 26650 version does look promising however, and if that performs as well as this does then we will have a real winner on our hands!
