Vandy Vape was founded in 2016 and has grown exponentially in this time, they have a very good reputation within the wider vape community, some of their other products including; Pulse BF 80w, Bonza Mech Kit, Pulse X, Simple EX, Kylin RTA V2, Maze RDA naming just a few.

Design and Build Quality

The Vandy Vape Pulse Dual Squonk Kit comes well presented in a card box with spares.

Pulse V2 RDA

Lets start with the Pulse V2 RDA. Made of stainless steel, PEI and Resin, the RDA dismantles into 5 parts for easy cleaning. The Pulse V2 quality is very good and has been designed and constructed well.

Base, Build Deck

The bottom of the RDA has all the normal info that you would expect.A gold plated bottom feed pin, the 510 threads are well turned, the juice well is deep at 2ml and it features 2 O rings to seat the bottom sleeve around the deck.To each side of the deck are tabs that match up to the notches in the bottom sleeve to stop the sleeve from turning.The build deck is a raised post less design that has a curve to it.It has 4 wire slots and is capable of taking dual or single coils, the post screws are flat headed and made of SS.The liquid squonk intake comes in through the top of the deck.It also has a bottom juice return.

Bottom Sleeve, Top Cap

Both are made of SS and sprayed black, the bottom sleeve has AF fins and an O ring for the top cap to sit on.Inside the bottom sleeve you have 2 notches that line up with the tabs on the deck. The top cap has a tiny amount of doming and holds the AF ring.An embedded O ring for the 810 drip tip, the cap has 2 wide AF slots and a grooved pattern into the top of the cap is there to help you turn the airflow. “2 Pulse” has been deeply engraved into the cap.

Airflow Rings and Mouth Piece

You have 3 PEI plastic AF rings that are supplied with the Pulse V2 RDA that sit inside the top cap covering the wide AF slots. 2 of the rings are for dual coils with different AF properties “wide or 8 pin holes”, the last ring is for a single coil and has 8 pin holes, each ring directs the airflow directly to the coil/s.

The Drip Tip is an 810 goon style tip made of resin, the colour of which will match the bottle cover on the mod.

Pulse Dual Squonk Mod

Made of zinc alloy the unit stands approx 75mm tall, a chunky little thing that has good weight behind it 9.8oz without cells. The mod takes 2x 18650 batteries, high drain are recommended.The shape of the device is with permission from Jaybo and is based on the Reuleaux Gen 3. The work face of the device is covered with a dark plastic and has plastic adjustment button above the micro usb port.The screen is a rectangular layout with all the info you’d expect set out clearly.The reverse of the device hold the 7ml silicone bottle.The large fire button is plastic (and has a nice clicky action).The bottle and fire button are surrounded by a coloured plastic cover so the bottle access is wide; the colour tone of the cover really sets off the black body of the mod, the cover is held in place by 2 tiny magnets and 4 metal posts. The battery door is a slide hinged door that clips to the body using a plastic bar and groove, while the door works fine it can be a bit fiddly to open! The door has the normal CE marks and advertising print on to it in white, inside the door is the battery compartment you have gold plated connectors that are clearly marked for battery orientation, a big bonus is the batteries are separate from the bottle! The body of the mod has what looks like 4 battery vent slots on each side of the screen I have a feeling these are just decoration.The top of the mod has a 510 squonk connection and the printed “Pulse Dual” branding.The mod will fire from 5 to 220W and is capable of all wire types and power modes.

The Pulse Dual Squonk mod is good quality and has been designed and constructed well.

Basic Quick Start Guide

Pulse V2 RDA

• Insert your coils and cotton into the Pulse V2 RDA.
• Dampen your cotton and coils with E-Liquid just to get you started.
• Place the bottom sleeve over the deck (matching the tabs and notches).
• Choose which AF ring suits you best and place it inside the top cap so the AF ring lines up with the wide slot of the cap.
• Place the top cap over the bottom ring (the fins will now act as the AF valve.

Tip: the bottom sleeve fitment is really tight; smearing liquid on the O rings helps with removal.

Pulse Dual Squonk Mod

• Place 2x 18650 batteries into the mod.
• Remove the squonk bottle and fill with E-Liquid and replace carefully in the mod.
• Screw the RDA onto the mod and remove the top cap.
• Slowly push the bottle to check liquid intake.

Basic Menu Operation

• 5 click on and off.
• 3 fast clicks of the fire button to enter the fire menu.
• Hold the 2 adjustment buttons for the sub menu.
• Fire button and up to lock and unlock the device.

How Does The Vandy Vape Pulse Dual Squonk Kit Perform?

For this example I have inserted 2 flat SS316 homemade coils they are 0.15Ω into the Pulse V2 RDA and have filled the squonk bottle with Coconut Cappuccino from Coffee House.

50w

With the AF open full, the flavour was very good and the density of the vapour was thick resulting in a nice warm vape.

80w

Was a little too hot for me personally, but again the vapour and flavour was very good.

120w

Well outside my comfort zone the vapour was extremely thick, flavour for me wasn’t as good as at lower watts, I did note that after 6 good pulls the RDA got very warm and started transferring heat to the mod, my ideal wattage with this mod is 66w.

Menu and battery life

The Pulse Dual Squonk has a very simple menu system, if you have used the Pulse X you will find it very familiar.

I am able to get 4 hrs battery time firing the kit at 50w, while not extraordinary nearly ½ a day of vape time is more than enough for me.

Temperature Control

I did a quick test in TC with the SS 316L coils, the mod functioned well at my normal 420f with good warm flavoursome vapour. As I didn’t get a user manual with my kit, I can’t tell you how to change the watts, so in TC its stuck on 50w until I figure it out lol.

• Wide finger space to press bottle

Cons

• Slightly tight squonk bottle
• Only 1 bottle supplied
• Fiddly battery door
• No manual supplied with my kit

Final Review Verdict

Vandy Vape and Tony B have taken the shape and size of this product and based it on one of my favourite mods, the Reuleaux Gen 3, and turned it into a squonk mod which is great for all us squonk enthusiasts!

If you are after a good looking very comfortable squonk kit that has a descent wattage and good battery life with an excellent RDA I can highly recommend the Pulse Dual Squonk Kit to you!
