Does the iJoy Luna Pod Kit take me to the moon in a glass elevator or crash land?

Surprisingly, iJoy is a manufacturer that until now, I haven’t had the opportunity to review, nor have I ever purchased an iJoy product.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit review

I think they make decent products, but I suppose nothing has really stood out for me.

We’ve reviewed a whole host of iJoy products over the years and most recently the Neptune Pod Kit and the Mercury AIO kit.

Their Pod based systems have generally been fairly well respected, and their larger kits, like the iJoy Shogun Jr Kit was loved and hated by Laura Ann-Burgess at the same time but it rated fairly well in the end.

The iJoy Luna looks to be the baby brother of the Neptune Pod Kit which was recently reviewed by the wonderful Kevin Jeffrey.

But before I read his review, I best spend some time with the Luna, and let you folks decide on which is the preferred pod system.

What Can We Expect From the iJoy Luna Pod Kit?

The iJoy Luna is certainly super sleek looking, featuring some lovely curved glass on the front and back which glistens in the right light and will sit beautifully next to your curved glass Samsung phone (If you’re into that kind of thing)

iJoy Luna Pod Kit classy

I’m pleased to see it has a USB Type-C port at the base for quickly charging the 350mAh internal battery.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit in handAlong with looking good, the Ijoy Luna features an automatic draw system and the Pod itself houses a Non-Replaceable 1.1Ω coil and can be filled with 1.4ml of your preferred e-liquid.

So its fair to say the Luna is a device which will suit those looking for a simple life but enjoy a bit of class.

So let’s crack on with the review 😉

Inside the Box

I was sent the Ocean Blue version of the iJoy Luna which is a stunning Electric Blue, and because of the curved glass, its almost pearlescent.

The iJoy Luna is made from a Zinc Alloy surround down both sides and on the base, with curved glass on the front and back of the device.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit design

At the top of the device, there are 2 large magnets which hold the Pod in place and at the base is a USB Type-C port for charging.

pod

Great to see USB-C is making its way into the latest products – I’m slowly filling the house with USB-C cables to charge my phone – result!

iJoy Luna Pod Kit In the Hand

The Luna feels as good as it looks, the glass panels have a smooth yet grippy feel, as you would expect from glass and as its only 99mm in length so its extremely portable in the hand or the pocket.

The Pod/Cartridge

The Pod is quite dark in its tint, and has a curved rectangular mouthpiece which is fairly tall so its comfortable on your lips.

pod kit review

The pod clicks in nicely thanks to the magnets on the pod, and inside the device, and on the side of the pod is a small silicon section which you effectively peel away to fill.

Filling the iJoy Luna Pod Kit

To fill the pod with e-liquid you firstly remove the pod from the battery part of the device, then:

pods

  • 1 – Remove the Pod from the Luna Device
  • 2 – Pull open the silicon seal.

  • 3 – Fill with your desired e-liquid – I recommend Nic-Salts.
  • 4 – Re-fit the silicon seal and place the Pod back in the Luna Device.
  • 5 – Leave the Luna to sit for around 5 minutes to allow full saturation of the coil

How Does the iJoy Luna Pod Kit Perform?

Operation

A device couldn’t be simpler, there are no settings, options or buttons to worry about, just plug in the pod and play!

The only thing to be aware of is the tiny, yet bright LED indicator on the front of the device which glows white when you’re vaping.

With regards to vaping, there are no buttons to press thanks to the Automatic Draw system which has the perfect sensitivity in my opinion.

For my time with the iJoy Luna Pod Kit, I was vaping on some of the NicSalt range by JustJuice, the lemonade flavour was mostly in use in the iJoy Luna.

Flavour and Clouds

1.1Ω Pod

Flavour is on point.

Yes its not the best, but its more than acceptable which is excellent considering its size and the maximum 11 watt output.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit size

You also get a satisfying little cloud from the Luna.

The vape itself is gently warm and the airflow isn’t quite as tight as I personally prefer it, but its tight enough for a decent Mouth-To-Lung Draw.

By no means could you get a Direct-To-Lung hit from this device.

Its a pure MTL Pod. With a bit of style.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit Airflow

There are 2 very very small airflow holes on either side of the iJoy Luna, which you’re free to close up with your fingers if you prefer a tighter draw, but it feels weird to hold that way.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit sides

So leaving both holes open is fine, yes slightly loose for me, but then I like a really tight MTL draw.

The iJoy Luna is quiet and has no whistle or turbulence, a Nice smooth draw.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit Battery Life

The tiny LED indicator will flash red when it wants you to make use of the USB Type-C port at the base and charge it up.

And considering the iJoy Luna only has a 350mAh battery, with a 2.1A charge, it feels like it takes an age to charge completely.

iJoy Luna Pod Kit charge port

I wont lie, I didn’t time its charge time, but it feels like it takes at least 40 minutes to charge, which for a 350mAh battery with USB Type-C compatibility – that’s quite a while!

The LED indicator will pulse on and off and eventually disappear when fully charged.

And that battery life will comfortably last you a day, in my time with the iJoy Luna with fairly light – moderate daily use, the battery has lasted a full 2 days.

However I did get caught short a couple of times, so out of habit i tended to charge the Luna every evening

Pros:

  • Extremely Sleek and well made
  • Super Simple to use.
  • USB-C Connection
  • Very good flavour

Cons:

  • Non-Replaceable Coils
  • Glass on a device may not be smart?
  • Takes a while to charge considering battery size and USB-C

Final Review Verdict

As much as I’ve enjoyed using this device, I’m really starting to feel like pod kits need a change, they need to be more than just that. For a Pod system not to have replaceable coils in 2020 is just a shambles.

I really enjoy the style, look and feel of the iJoy Luna, its a gorgeous, simple looking device that twinkles in the light.

But I’m afraid that’s not enough to make it my favourite Pod System.

However – for the ‘Man About Town’, checking his emails on his Apple Watch whilst picking up a Double Mocha-chino from his local Starbucks on his way to the office, the iJoy Luna will certainly match his fitted suit, and lay stylishly on his desk, whilst actually doing a great job at getting said man off the cigarettes.

There’s a number of features that I look at when trying out a device, and for something to score highly, it needs to meet certain demands.

‘Would this device be long lasting and still work 3, 6 or even 12 months from now?’

The iJoy Luna has excellent build quality I have no concerns over the durability of the iJoy Luna.

The 350mAh battery capacity is a little small, but so is the device itself and with the 1.1Ω coils, its not as if the battery will be working extremely hard.

Does this device deliver the flavour, vapour and general experience I require, in order to be enjoyed?

The flavour from the 1.1Ω Pod is really good to start with, and the vaping experience as a whole is almost on the money.

A fairly tight Mouth-To-Lung draw, fairly similar to the cigarette, whilst also delivering a slightly warm, smooth vape.

That’s all you can ask for.

Is this device versatile to suit a new vaper, and an experienced one alike?

The iJoy Luna is certainly a decent recommendation for a new vaper.

Its extremely simple to use and maintain.

But for an experienced vaper, its really not got much going for it apart from its style.

So it might not have enough bells and whistles for an expert.

Flat Cap Vaper Reivews
FlatCap Vaper

Hey Folks. Im Gaz, The Flat-cap Vaper. I’m 35, married with 3 kids and I just love Flatcap's and Vaping! I started my e-cigarette journey in 2014 when I entered my local vape shop and got so well looked after, I ditched my 10 year habit of 15 roll-ups a day within 48hrs. Following on from this, my Vaping journey began. I started a Youtube Channel at the beginning of 2019 and so far has had over 500,000+ views. I quickly upgraded my device and that’s when my geeky side took over and I began to experiment with making my own liquid, building my own coils and even my own mods! As a trained electrician I suppose ohms, wattage and voltage runs through my veins so Vaping has become my hobby and a passion that I want to share with everyone.
