Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Poster

Introduction: Sky Solo Plus by Vaporesso

The Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus is a pen style vape mod with a large internal, non-removable battery topped off with the a huge 8ml (non TPD) integrated tank.

Vaporesso haven’t been around for an awful long time in the grand scheme of things, forming in 2015 with their parent company, SMOORE, which was formed in 2006.

I do have to admit though, Vaporesso have made some very attractive devices recently with the Luxe Nano and the Aurora Play. I myself reviewed the Vaporesso Armor Pro Kit back in August 2018 and still use it to this day.

The Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus is the larger sibling to the Sky Solo with increased battery and e-liquid capacity. The Sky Solo line seems to be the newer, updated versions of the Vaporesso Veco line of pen type mods running the newer GT Meshed coils.

I received the Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus in Black as you can see from the image above. The kit does come in four colours in total, Black, Silver, Rainbow and Blue.

This was sent to me for review. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Design and Build Quality

The Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus comes in a simple box with plastic insert where all the contents sit. It is solidly built with no sharp or protruding edges. The fire button sits nicely on the front of the device surrounded by the LED indicator and has a nice throw to it, you don’t have to press too hard to fire the device.

The design is a simple pen style which makes it very portable with good battery life with it’s 3000mAh capacity.

Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Apart

A simple design with an integrated tank on top but this does mean you are unable to put your own tanks on top.

Sky Solo Plus Tank

As previously mentioned, the tank on this kit is integrated with the device. I received the review unit with the HUGE 8ml capacity glass though if you live in a TPD region, you will only receive a 2ml capacity tank in the kit.

The Tank is, as I always say, your standard, “Plug and Play”, screw in coil type and very easy indeed to change out.Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Coil Assembly

How To Change The Coil

To insert the coil into the tank, simply screw in the coil to the top part of the mod, put the Glass over the coil then simply screw the top part of the tank down.

Be very careful if you are removing the glass as it is very hard to remove and when I was taking the kit apart for this review, the glass did crack, and I am not a very heavy handed person.

Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Cracked Glass

If you look closely at the Vaporesso Sky Solo Kit above, you get two airflow holes at either side, but you can not alter the airflow as it is fixed and unmovable. It is always wide open and is a pretty airy vape, that’s just something to note if you like a rather restricted vape.

How To Fill The Sky Solo Tank

Filling the Vaporesso Sky Solo Tank couldn’t be simpler. Simply unscrew the Top Cap from the tank and you are met with a sizeable fill port and you will easily be able to decant your chosen e-liquid from most bottles.

GT Meshed Coils

The two coils provided were GT Meshed Coils 0.18ohm, 50 to 85W. In all honesty, the flavour from these was pretty good from a stock coil and pretty much on par with your standard rebuildable tank.

Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus

As with most pen style vape kits, what you get is something pretty basic and there’s no getting away from it, this device is in that category.

Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Mod

Functions

  • To turn the device on, it’s a simple 5 clicks in succession and the device immediately powers up, 5 clicks again and it powers the device off.
  • To vape, press the fire button and away you go.
  • Whilst you are pressing the fire button, there are 3 light indicators, these will tell you what charge the battery is at, Blue and you are at 50-100%, Green and you are below 50% and a Red light tells you that the device needs charging.

The Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus uses the Omni Board Mini offering you multiple protections, burn, no load, ESD Circuit, low power, overtime, overcharge, short circuit and low resistance. This pretty much covers you in the case of any malfunctions should they happen to the device.

How does the Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus Perform?

The Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus performs very admirably indeed. It’s a reasonably quick firing mod, you certainly don’t have to wait very long to be able to vape.

Throughout my time using the kit, I used a 70VG/30PG e-liquid with the pre-installed coil.Sky Solo Plus and eliquid

The longevity of the battery is ok dependent on your usage. I can get up to four hours with the type of vaping I do. The recharge time was pretty swift, fully charged from dead took around 110 minutes via USB.

On the plus side, you can charge the device while you are out and about in your car or via any other suitable external USB charger.

Flavour and Vapour Production

I have always been a fan of the Vaporesso GT Meshed coils, I use them in my Cascade Baby tank and the flavour with them is very good. Vaporesso GT Meshed CoilsOk, it might not be the top of the line rebuildable tank but they are certainly a very solid vape. The longevity of the coils, as always, depends on the type of e-liquid you use and your vaping style.

On an average basis, I got around two weeks before it needed a change.

The vapor production from the Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus took my a little by surprise, I was expecting an average cloud but you can really chuck out some big clouds from this thing with a little bit of effort, if that’s your thing.

Pros

  • Very good build quality
  • Good Flavour
  • Very Responsive
  • Huge 8ml capacity (sorry – 2ml for TPD people)
  • Lightweight and portable
  • Good battery life
  • Doesn’t leak

Cons

  • Non adjustable air control
  • No spare glass

Final Thoughts

All in all, my time with the Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus has been quite enjoyable and certainly, the Pros far outweigh the Cons.

I would call it an intermediate type vape. It’s a step up from the multitude of Pod systems out there but it’s not quite a full blown device with all the different setting that comes with it. It is easy to use though and coils are readily available, easy to replace and give good flavour.

It wasn't an easy task at first as I had smoked since the age of 15, so, that would make nearly 30 years on the dreaded cigarettes. After around six months switching between cigarettes and vaping, I finally kicked the habit and became a full time vaper. Vaping is a way out of smoking, not only does it save you money, it may, one day, save your life. For anyone wanting to stop smoking cigarettes, all I would say is stick with it. vaporesso-sky-solo-plus-review-big-battery-mesh-coils-winnerI was really pleased with the Vaporesso Sky Solo Plus, very easy to use and portable. It is another pen type vape but sometimes, that’s all you need.

  1. Can someone please help me with my sky solo vaporesso it’s not fire up and its blinking green when when I turn it on how do I start

  2. Hi i have recently brought the espresso gtx o 80 and I have noticed that my juice is evaporating extremely quickly to the point that I use more than
10mls of juice in a day bearing in mind that I work 12hr shifts so I’m not puffing on it all day. I was just wondering if this is normal as I have use other vapes in the past and I don’t go through the liquid as quick as I am with the vape. Do you guys think it faulty or is this standard. Cheers in advance.

    • Hey Lilian,

Is that the GTX Go 80? https://www.ecigclick.co.uk/vaporesso-gtx-go-review/

I’ll presume it is for now.

I’ve not personally used this device but you can certainly have ‘thirstier’ coils/vapes than others. So not a fault as such, just dependent on a number of factors. And I would really need to know what you were using previously to see if there could be a big difference.

Looking at the review from Harley then I’d say that if you are using the 0.2Ohm coil then it could be quite a guzzler due to the increased power the mod is likely putting out.

I’d recommend trying a higher resistance coil. You may find this helps your juice last a little longer. I had a quick look and it’s the GTX coil, if you can find them maybe try the 0.6Ohm/0.8Ohm and see if that helps.

Let us know how you get on.

  3. Im having issues with this thing. Now i like strong.. Well i thought i did using the joytech aio, endura t18 and jem pen. Vape shops would try to stop me from the coils id buy plus the 12mg or 16 even, way back when… But i told them that’s how i like it.. Until i met this sky solo monster. Every one loves it. Even the online store responded to my email “u want to return this? Its a big seller with good reviews.” Im a small girl and it over takes me through and through. It barely fits in my purse but i can’t use it. It feels like im drinking vape juice. Maybe the high nic e juice is too much? I did order a 3mg just now… Butter scotch reserve? You think this will help it? Im an ex smoker so the only hits i can take are like someone who smokes would ..not Mtl? idk it confuses me but that’s the only way i know how and this feels like if i coukd drag it in my mouth first, it woukd be ok.. Is it the wrong coil for me maybe? Thanks for help.. I want to like the thing and be cool like the other kids 🙂

  4. Mine is flashing 3 reds an want fire! What do I need to do ? I just bought it an with covid going on they don’t take nothing back!

  5. I have had my vaporesso plus for about 6 months and I’m just over it. I’ve sunk in a lot of money trying to find the right device and ended up with a box full of random devices and coils.. now the pros: liquids taste great! Superb actually and it feels like it hits with the right amount of power. Cons: which are HUGE! The thing leaks all over the place … I have to keep a napkin around it at all times when not in use and it doesn’t matter what position it’s in.. I’ve replaced coils, runner rights, etc.. nothing works. I want to find a take like this output that I don’t waste a ton of liquid and smell like it all day. Considering the innokin zenith.. anyone have experience with this or recommend another tank like the vaporesso without the issues?

  6. when I put mine in the charger the light is red does this mean it’s full or that it’s still charging? if so when do I know its full?

    • Hiya Hebe,

To charge the Mod shouldn’t take too long, I can’t remember the exact time off the top of my head but if I remember correctly, it was around two hours. When the device is fully charged it will show a green light, red if it has no life left.
The only reason I can imagine it being red is that there is no battery power left and isn’t charging correctly. Maybe try a different power cable and have a lot at the USB port on the device for any defect

    • I’ve just bought mine & have had it charging quite a bit & its still red lighting . Am baffled what should I do ?

    • Unfortunately, there is no other Tank you can put on top of the Sky Solo Plus. May I suggest you put one of those rubber “vape bands” around the glass. This doesn’t stop breakages but it certainly reduces them.

  7. I plugged in my sky solo vapour to recharge and it didn’t work. Can you part recharge? What am I doing wrong? I’m a first time user and the instructions aren’t specific for recharging. Thankyou

    • Hiya Lisa,

Yes, you can part re-charge, you don’t need to wait until it’s fully charged, though you would be running back to the power outlet much sooner.
That been said, when you plug the Mod in to recharge, you should see a charging light come on, if this isn’t happening then there may be a fault with the device.

      • I just got a SKY SOLO and I am having an issue where it is not taking a charge. As a side note ‘ve worked as a mechanical and electrical engineer for over 10 years doing OEM and retail product design, so charging a vape is not something I typically would have issues with.

While it should not matter I am using the USB cord it came with. I have tried a 30 watt hi-speed USB charger and it didn’t seem to take a charge. Basically I’ve tried about 5 different USB chargers, ranging in output from 500mA to 6000mA and it is still flashing red.

I have had it about 2 days and it was working alright the first day, it did seem to have a very short battery life but I was really hitting it so I figured it was me.

I checked the current going in to the Vape when I plug it in and its only drawing about 80mA or 0.08amps, at that rate it will take a week to charge.

Based on the very large number of other people that all seem to be having very similar issues with their Vapespresso SKY SOLO I am going to guess that the SKY SOLO probably has either a manufacturing defect like a wire pad on the circuit board that’s susceptible to a cold solder joint for example or its a design issue.

I think I am going to take mine apart and see what exactly is causing this, don’t think I am able to return it and its my only nicotine source at the moment. I will try and post what I find in a little while.

  8. Can you use 0.3 ohm coil on this device? As I am a heavy smoker, I need higher PG liquids with more nicotine level, I would love to be able to have a bit higher resistance on it.

    • Hi,
The recommended wattage for the 0.3ohm coil is 35-40W – the power range of the Sky Solo Plus is 90W
Now, I’m not saying it won’t work, you could try it and the worst case scenario is you will get a burnt out coil.

      Sorry I couldn’t help further
