Vaporesso Luxe Nano Kit Review – Touch Screen Mod With Haptic Feedback

The Vaporesso Luxe Nano is from a brand that have been in the vape game for a fair while now and have established themselves as manufacturers with a reputation for high quality kit at fairly competitive prices.

I must admit to having a soft spot for them as my first “proper” vape mod was a Vaporesso Target Pro, a single 18650 device ergonomically designed to resemble a joystick or gun grip, a style which was later adopted by Smok with their Mag mod and Mag Baby range of mods.

I finally gave up a forty year smoking habit with the Target Pro so I feel I owe Vaporesso one!

What Can We Expect From the Vaporesso Luxe Nano Kit?

Vaporesso’s latest starter kit, the Luxe Nano takes its design cues from its popular Vaporesso Luxe kit.

The Luxe Nano is much smaller than its big brother and has swapped the dual 18650s for an internal 2500mAh battery.

Now this reduction in size comes at a cost. The original Luxe has a maximum output of 220W whilst the Luxe Nano has to make do with an 80W maximum. The mod comes with vibration-enabled touch screen buttons (haptic feedback) and has been paired up with the SKRR-S sub ohm tank, a mini version of the SKRR tank which utilises the new QF coils as well as GT coils from Vaporesso’s other tanks.

So how will the Luxe Nano hold up in day to day use? Let’s dive into the box and find out.

Design and Build Quality

Vaporesso Luxe Nano Mod

The Luxe Nano fires quickly- Vaporesso claim a 0.002s “insta-fire” and quick heating system aimed at delivering a satisfying amount of cloud and flavour.

The device is controlled via a touch screen system featuring haptic feedback which can be intensified or turned off completely via the menu screen.

The device turns on and off with a conventional 5 clicks of the fire button. Clicking the fire button a further three times and then pressing “V” another three times opens the menu mode screen.

The screen then locks and further pressing of the “V” prompts the mod to tell you to press the fire button three times to unlock the screen again. After a few seconds locked the screen defaults to a clock screen saver which is displayed for around 30 seconds or so.

Menu

Click the fire button three times and then touch the “V” a further three times to enter the menu mode.

The options are selected by touching the small white dots which are effectively are the “+” and “-“ buttons of a non-touch screen mod.

There are then the following options.

• Wattage mode. Simply touch the “+” and “-“ dots to select your required wattage from 5-80W.
• SP mode. Super Player mode which is designed for those who wish to run a super low resistance coil from 0.03-5ohm.
• Temperature control mode. 200F-600F
• Variable voltage mode. 0-9V
• CCW mode. Custom curves.
• Bypass mode. Pseudo mech style
• DIY mode. Hard, normal or soft power in wattage mode.
• Settings mode. Default, Time set, brightness, puff counter, smart on/off, auto on/off, screen timeout, key light, vibrate and version.

TFT Display

The screen itself is of a single “dashboard” dial style with the values rising clockwise as you touch the “+” dot. The stats such as wattage or temperature, ohms, volts, amps, puff counter and puff time are displayed.

It’s pretty easy to navigate around and there are plenty of bits to play with and adjust if that’s you thing. For me I tended to stick with a straight wattage mode although I tested both temperature control and bypass mode and they both worked as well as you’d expect on a device such as this.

As you’d expect from any Vaporesso product, the Luxe Nano’s build quality is very high – in short it’s a classy looking piece of kit.

I was sent the rainbow version which features a neo chrome frame and a glossy blue and red panel on the rear of the mod. The front of the mod features a pretty stunning 1.3in TFT edge to edge styled colour screen.

Omni Board Chip

Inside the mod is the Vaporesso Omni Board 4.0 chip which delivers a fast firing speed and a wide resistance range from 0.03-5ohms.

The chip is controlled via a touch panel to make adjustments and features a vibration/haptic feedback function much like you would find on a mobile phone.

Underneath the touch screen is a USB charging/firmware upgrade socket. The device supports 2 amp charging thus reducing charging time.

The base of the mod has twenty small ventilation holes for the internal 2500mAh battery.

The lozenge shaped fire button is situated on the side of the mod and has a nice and solid “clicky” feel and is pretty rattle-free.

The 510 connection is centre-mounted and there’s room for tanks of up to around 25mm without any overhang.

All in all the Vaporesso Luxe Nano looks and feels a very well-made piece of kit. There are no rattles or sharp/unfinished edges.

I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks and haven’t been overly careful with the device and yet I have no scratches or marks despite being in and out of both my bag and pocket throughout the day.

In the Hand

The Luxe Nano is an extremely comfortable mod to hold. It feels solid and well built in the hand and the position of the fire button enables both finger and thumb firing in comfort.

The small size means the mod fits into any pocket with ease. It’s not overly heavy weighing in at just over 182 grams.

SKRR-S Tank and Coils

The kit is supplied with Vaporesso’s new SKRR-S Mini tank, the little brother of the existing SKRR tank. The SKRR-S utilises the QF coils (supplied in the kit) and the GT coils from Vaporesso’s other tanks.

QF Coils

The QF coils come in two designs- one meshed (0.2 ohm optimised for flavour) and one strip (0.15 ohm optimised for longevity), both featuring Flax Fibre and cotton wick material.

The QF coils are a rather interesting design which, Vaporesso claim, combine the use of airflow and an internal reservoir to minimise leaking and deliver a warmer, richer flavour.

The QFs feature a bullet-shaped inner structure which have been designed to eliminate spit back.

Top Fill

The SKRR-S tank itself is a very conventionally designed top fill sub ohm tank. The TPD version I was supplied with features a 2ml straight glass capacity.

Rather than having a sliding cap, the SKRR-S has a removable top to fill the tank with e-juice. Simply twist the cap two rotations and it will pop off revealing a single kidney shaped hole for your e-juice bottle nib.

Airflow

The airflow ring at the bottom features three airflow holes that are fully adjustable by simply turning the ring until your required airflow has been achieved.

Coil Change

Changing the coil is much like any other sub ohm tank. Simply unscrew the base of the tank and screw the coil into the base before screwing the completed assembly back together.

The coils have an internal thread at the top and this secures into the chimney section of the top of the tank. There are O rings at either end of the glass section and a silicone gasket under the lid of the tank to help minimise/ eliminate any leaking.

How Does the Vaporesso Luxe Nano Kit Perform?

Performance wise the Vaporesso Luxe Nano is somewhat mixed.

The supplied coils are rated as best performing between 65-75W and if you’ve ever used a device with a measly 2500mAh you’ll know that you’re not going to get very many hours vaping at that wattage on that battery.

I was getting around 70 puffs per charge. Granted the 2A charging reduced charging time to around 105 minutes and you can still vape on the device whilst it is being charged.

Add into the fact that the haptic feedback is a further drain on the battery life and then you soon realise this is not a device for out and about. I ended up just using the Luxe Nano at work.

I can have the device sitting on charge in my PC when not in use and as I’m not “officially” allowed to vape at work (I have my “secret” vaping hideouts where I nip out for a quick couple of puffs every hour or so), the device was adequate in this situation.

Why Vaporesso decided to package the SKRR-S with pretty low resistance coils which require a higher wattage is a complete mystery to me and I can’t help but feel that they’ve missed a trick.

Once I discarded the SKRR-S tank and popped and RDA on with a higher resistance coil of around 0.3 ohm and turned off the haptic feedback the battery life improved. Ideally I’d run the Luxe Nano at around a 0.5 ohm tank and then you’d have ample battery life between charges.

Haptic Feedback

Now on to that haptic feedback…to be honest it annoyed the heck out of me.

Every time you go near the touch panels the device vibrates prompting you to unlock the screen by pressing the fire button three times.

Sounds fine right?

Nope because as you hold the device you are constantly activating the haptic feedback unlock prompt. I swear I thought I was going to get Carpal tunnel syndrome!

I soon turned the function off to preserve both my sanity and battery life.

Having to touch the “V” three times after hitting the fire button three times to unlock the device seemed a bit of an overkill to me and after a while was rather irritating. Surely just a single touch of the “V” would suffice once the device was unlocked??

Responsive Touch Screen

The touch screen itself is very responsive and I had no issues whatsoever once I’d opened the menu mode screen. The device scrolls smoothly and as I stated earlier, is fairly intuitive to navigate. I liked the clock display and generally found the screen very clear and simple to understand.

Flavour and Cloud

Now as regards the SKRR-S tank there’s really not that much to say. The flavour on either coil is not particularly popping although the meshed design is slightly better than the stripped.

Cloud production isn’t too bad but really isn’t much to write home about. On the plus side, the coil life seemed to be pretty damn good. I ran each of the coils provided for 7 days each and the flavour and cloud production remained consistent throughout and still had plenty of life left in them.

The airflow is pretty smooth and not over-loud and I liked the triple hole design. I found the flavour popped through a bit stronger with the airflow reduced by around 50%.

I didn’t suffer any leaks whatsoever with the SKRR-S tank although I found it to be a fairly thirsty little beast…around 2ml every dozen or so puffs.

I did like the fact that you can use Vaporesso’s GT coils in the SKRR-S making it a very versatile tank.

Pros

Cons

• Terrible battery life particularly with the supplied tank/coils
• Haptic feedback activates whenever you go near the screen
• SKRR-S tank really not suitable for the mod
• Too many actions needed to access the menu modes

Final Verdict

From a brand that helped me finally ditch the cigarettes I really wanted to like the Vaporesso Luxe Nano.

It looked classy and well-built straight out of the box but, and it’s a really big BUT, that battery life really doesn’t suit my style of vaping.

If you’re after a device where you just have a few puffs every now and again and then can keep topping up the charge then this it’s a solid choice. Using a different tank with higher resistance coils then it would be even better.

As I said, it suited me at work but for home or for a day out and about then the device is pretty poor.

It’s well-built and, in my opinion, looks very classy (My wife, a non-vaper, thought it was the best looking mod I own!).

The SKRR-S tank is nothing to write home about but isn’t a bad tank either…it’s just yet another average sub ohm tank.

If Vaporesso had tailored the tank and coils to be more suited to the Luxe Nano’s battery mAhs then I think they would have an absolute winner on their hands. The niggles I have over the locking/unlocking system are not deal breakers but I can’t tell just how much the haptic feedback annoyed me in daily use.

The Luxe Nano isn’t a cheap mod to buy and I’d argue that at this price point the battery life should be far better. All in all a beautifully produced device thoroughly let down by dire battery life. Oh and did I mention the haptic feedback??
