The Vaporesso XIRON pod mod review – and yeah, I’m back with yet another Vaporesso device, however this one really intrigued me!
I first saw a teaser image of the XIRON on Instagram and was immediately interested.
Why?
Well lets be honest, its clearly going after Geekvape and their range of Aegis Boost Devices.
Designed to be durable and well made, and Vaporesso has even added the clever spinny wheel airflow thingy that Geekvape did with the Boost.
Vaporesso however hasn’t touted this device as an IP67 device with waterproof and rustproof features, but they do claim it is tough inside and out thanks to its alloy material…
What Can We Expect From the Vaporesso Xiron ?
Thankfully the Vaporesso Xiron makes use of the wonderful line of GTX coils produced by Vaporesso.
The GTX coils work really well in their PM80, GTX One and Gen Nano devices as well as a number of others.
The Xiron has an internal 1500mAh battery, USB Type-C charging and powers up to 50 watts and has a tough sturdy design to it.
So let’s crack on with the review and see what this kit is all about.

Vaporesso Xiron Design and Build Quality
Straight out the box, the Vaporesso Xiron feels super tough and well built.
The ‘X’ shaped frame on both sides feels strong and has a nice finish to it and around the device is a slightly rubbery finish for extra grip.
I was surprised at the size of the Xiron, its actually quite small!
Smaller than the original Geekvape Aegis Boost that’s for sure.
The Vaporesso Xiron Pod
The packaging includes just the 1 pod which is big and chunky, and should you happen to get a Non-TPD version, will hold 5.5ml of e-liquid which is a decent amount.
Up top is a 510 drip tip which is removable and you can happily use your own favourite 510 drip tip should you chose to.
However, the one that comes in the kit, along with the spare, works very well. It has a slightly odd shape to it, but its comfortable.
At the base is where the GTX coils are installed and the magnets at the base are strong so its not easy to remove, or drop out of the device.
The pod itself is clear, which is great when it comes to checking your e-liquid level, however once installed, you can only really see the top section of the pod.
Nonetheless I haven’t had any issues seeing my current e-liquid level.
The pod can be a little tricky to remove if you need to, its the shape and lack of grip that can be a pain at times, but generally I didn’t have much of a problem.
Filling from the top! Always a positive in my eyes. A nicely sized fill port is hidden under the rubber bung right in front of the drip tip.
The kit comes with the GTX 0.3Ω and GTX 0.8Ω Mesh Coil in my kit, however I believe the TPD version will only have two of the 0.3Ω GTX Coils.
If you’re familiar with the GTX coils, you’ll know that they’re usually fairly available in local Brick & Mortar Stores and also fit a number of Vaporesso Devices.
 Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod In the Hand
Heavier than I thought! Certainly heavier then the Geekvape Aegis Boost.
Its not the most comfortable in the hand, but its certainly not uncomfortable.
I’ve preferred it as a thumb firer however regardless of which way you hold it, I’ve found at times I cover the airflow with my finger, or thumb. A little annoying – user error I suppose.
How To Fill the Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod
Here’s how to fill the pod with e-liquid:
- Remove the top rubber bung
- Fill with desired e-liquid
- Re-fit the rubber bung ensuring you clean up and spillages!
Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod Display Functions
The Vaporesso Xiron has a 0.69 OLED display which isn’t fancy, but functional and simple to use.
Pretty much all the functions are done from the main screen so there are no confusing menu systems to worry about, but there are a few hidden options.
Here’s how to operate the Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod:
- Fire Button – 5 Clicks On & Off
- Fire Button – 3 Clicks Locks Wattage
- Fire & Right Button – Flips Screen
- Left & Right Button – Opens Menu

Pressing and holding the Left and right buttons will open a very simple menu which will allow you to choose between:
- Smart VW – Device will automatically set wattage to recommend
- VW (Variable Wattage) – Allows you to set your wattage to your desired
- VVÂ (Variable Voltage) – If you prefer to use your device in Voltage, it has that option.
- Default – Sets device back to default settings
- Exit.
How Does the Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod Perform?
I was using an 70VG 30PG e-liquid called Urban Avenue by Fresh Vape Co when using the 0.3Ω coil.
For the 0.8Ω GTX Coil I used the same, more because as much as its possibly assumed the 0.8Ω coil is for a Mouth-To Lung vape, I generally felt it works better for a restricted direct lung draw.
However, I also happen to have a pack of 1.2Ω mesh coils so I also gave that a try, although the 1.2Ω Mesh coil does not come in the kit.
With the 1.2Ω coils, I used my usual Raspberry Sherbet by Drip Hacks which is a 50VG 50PG Nic Salt.

Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod – Flavour and Clouds
I’ve gone a little above and beyond with this one, I hope the bosses at Ecigclick dont give me a smack on the hand for doing this, but I’ve added my thoughts on the 1.2Ω Mesh coil.
Purely because I really want to see if the Xiron has the diversity to be a Direct Lung, Restrictive, and a genuine MTL device, covering every aspect, much like the Geekvape Aegis Boost has done. Hehe.
Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod- the GTX 0.3Ω Mesh Coil
The Direct Lung One…
A Lovely open vape with the airflow wide open, I really enjoyed the flavour and vapour production at the maximum 50 watts although doesn’t feel like a true 50 watts…Lowering the wattage, you still get a decent vape, but personally I liked to get the maximum out of the device which lead to a really enjoyable vape.
Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod- the GTX 0.8Ω Mesh Coil
The 0.8Ω GTX Mesh Coil instantly limits the airflow restriction without adjusting the airflow dial itself, however not as much as I thought it would.
Regardless, it still performs well, not as great as the 0.3Ω does for me, but still a nice vape.
Limiting the airflow half way is where I found I enjoyed the best vape, a little restrictive for me, but enjoyable nonetheless – and a nice cloud too.
A positive to this coil is that using a higher resistance, will allow the battery to last a hell of a lot longer than the 0.3Ω will.
Vaporesso Xiron Pod Mod- the GTX 1.2Ω Mesh Coil
This baby mesh coil was more than happy at a tiny 11 watts of power! Thanks to the airflow adjustment wheel, a very good MTL vape can be achieved, and flavour and clouds are also very good.
The GTX coils in general are good. Not the best, but the coil options available are vast and I strongly recommend trying them out to find your favourite.
Airflow
The metal wheel on one side of the device adjusts the airflow. And it Does…Adjust the Airflow!
It does a really good job, I feel the wheel itself is a little stiff, it can be a little tricky to adjust at times, especially if you have e-liquid on your fingers.
But I’m really pleased the Xiron has this feature, it just adds to the options when it comes to the consumer.
Vaporesso Xiron Battery Life
As always the battery life really depends on a number of factors. How much you vape, what coil you’re vaping on and your set wattage.
In my experience, the 0.3Ω GTX Mesh coil got to the 6 hour mark on most days. Not great but considering I was using the full 50 watts from the device, that’s pretty good!
The 0.8Ω GTX Mesh coil lasted me the whole day, no problem. At 25 watts the device is very comfortable.
The 1.2Ω GTX Mesh Coil at 11 watts is still going after day 4! But to be completely honest, I dont usually vape as much when using MTL and with High Nic. But in general I would imagine you can enjoy a couple of days between charging the device, when using such a high resistance coil, at such a low wattage.
Charging
The Vaporesso Xiron has a USB Type-C port and a 2 Amp Charge. I have been amazed at just how fast it charges!
When plugged in, the device shows the battery percentage, and time until charged and you can see the battery percentage climb every few seconds.
Considering the Vaporesso Xiron has a 1500mAh battery, charging in less than an hour is very impressive.
Yes the device gets a little warm so I would advise not to make use of the ‘Pass Thru’ function [vaping while charging] too much whilst charging as this will only degrade the battery and I’ve had an ‘Over Heat’ warning once or twice whilst testing this function. But apart from that, its very quick to charge.
I would however recommend slow-charging the device on a 0.5A or 1A charge every now and then to help with battery health.
Does the Pod Mod Leak?
The usual condensation can be found at the base of the pod, and inside the device.
So a clean up every few days would be advised, but considering there are push fit coils, from the base, the Xiron does a fairly good job.

Final Review Verdict
I’m genuinely nit picking at this point with the Vaporesso Xiron.
Its really difficult not to directly compare it to the Geekvape Aegis Boost Pod Mod.
If I was to compare it directly, I’d say its pretty much on par with the Boost.
It’s not quite as comfortable to hold, and doesn’t offer the IP rating that the Boost does. But thanks to the adjustable airflow and the available GTX coils, I really cant fault it.
As manufactures continue in this pod mod battle I can easily see Vaporesso making a Version 2 of this device, perhaps a single or dual 18650 version?
Adding the IP67 dust-proof and waterproof ratings would perhaps help a little with putting it in top spot for most durable Pod Mod.
But for the most part, the Vaporesso Xiron is a very good option for a vaper looking for a portable cloud chucker which can also be toned down for a relaxed MTL vape.
There’s a number of features that I look at when trying out a device, and for something to score highly, it needs to meet certain demands.
Would this device be long lasting and still work 3, 6 or even 12 months from now?
The Xiron is strong and durable, well built and has a sizeable 1500mAh internal battery.
I have slight concerns over the battery however, only because I can see people constantly quick charging the device and as we all know, fast charging and heat can destroy batteries.
With a little care, a few slow charges and day to day maintenance. The Xiron should see you into 2021 no problem.
Does this device deliver the flavour, vapour and general experience I require, in order to be enjoyed?
Across the board the GTX coils offer a very good vape.
I wouldn’t say the offer the best when it comes to flavour, but usually they’re very durable and produce decent flavour.
The 0.3Ω coil also dishes out a decent cloud, whilst the 0.8Ω GTX coil will prolong your battery life, whilst still producing a nice vape.
Is this device versatile to suit a new vaper, and an experienced one a like?
If you like the Geekvape Aegis Boost, I’m fairly sure you’ll be happy with this.
The Xiron still has that rugged style and look to it, so perhaps the design wont be for everyone.
But overall it performs well and could easily be used by a new vaper.
Maybe not the best starter device, but its certainly an option.
