Wednesday the 24th February was certainly a game changer when it comes to the way that vapers can use and access electronic cigarettes.

The outcome unfortunately, but at the same time unsurprisingly, is designed to stifle the progress of electronic cigarettes as we know them today. For the full run down Clive Bates has a great post here highlighting the regulations.

The main changes that will effect us are as follows:

  • Nicotine limits to be introduced banning anything over 20mg/ml
  • E-liquids can only be sold in bottles with a maximum 10ml volume.
  • E cigs MUST deliver a consistent dose of nicotine.
  • Tanks will be limited to 2ml capacity

This ultimately looks to play into the hands of companies that produce cig-a-like products and while these can be great for smokers making that initial transition, for lots of vapers they are not a viable option in the long run.

The fact that Big Tobacco are hitting the market hard with cig-a-likes is making it look more likely that they will control a large portion of the e cig market come 2016.

There is STILL a chance for vapers to have a say in the legislation on e cigarettes and this is by way of The European Citizens Initiative which allows EU citizens to participate directly on the development of EU policies.

The big issue is that 1 million signatures are required.

The below is taken directly from a post by James at the Ashtray blog on how to help. Please take the time to do this, it only takes a minute!

A European wide vapers group, the European Free Vaping Inititiave, is gathering the signatures needed.

Now, this is not just another ecig petition – if it succeeds, vapers could have a real chance of being involved in the legislative process.

There’s only one problem – one million signatures are needed.

That’s not many compared to the amount of vapers in Europe, but many people are still not aware of the risks to e cigarettes or the movement to stop restrictive legislation.

Currently, the UK is lagging behind the rest of the EU in signing the citizens initiative.

Let’s change that!
Two Ways You Can Help

There are two ways in which you can help.

1. By signing the citizens initiative here.

Two minutes of your time should be well worth the possibility of saving ecigarettes 😉

2. By making sure as many people know about it as possible.

Share it on social media (you can also support the EFVI on Twitter, Google Plus and Facebook), and ask your friends who care about vaping to sign.

Because vaping is worth defending.

I've been vaping since 2010 and been cigarette free ever since. Ecigclick was started to take a closer look at the mixed bag of e cigs that were available at the time. We have gone from a handful of reviews in 2010 to now covering a huge range of vaping gear with over 100 reviews and counting today with the help of the great review team we have here! I'm available on the blog most days, if you have any questions just use the contact tab and I'll get right back to you! Vape on...
