Introduction To Evolv DNA75 and DNA200 Chips

Evolv are one of the largest chip manufacturers on planet when it comes to vaping equipment.

Many mods are powered by an Evolv chip or a version of it, the most popular being the DNA series.

A huge number of mods from budget range to high end are powered by the DNA30 or DNA40 chip.

More recently Evolv have made huge waves within the industry with their DNA75/DNA200 chips as well as the recent release of the DNA75C colour screen.

Alongside the DNA60 and DNA250 chips, they are intended to replace the now discontinued DNA30 and DNA40 chips, which are slowly being phased out.

Here we are taking a look at the DNA75 and DNA200 chips, how they perform, how to use it, and the best DNA75 / DNA200/250 mods available today.

What Is The Evolv DNA75 / DNA200 Chip?

eVolv DNA 200 and DNA75 chipsThe DNA200 is one of the most powerful chips available to date. The DNA75 is virtually the same chip, just optimized for lower wattage usage.

It also features a programmable LED light for the power button, which does look cool!

The DNA75 tends to use a single 18650, dual 18650 or a single 26650 battery.

Most DNA200 vape mods are powered by Lipo batteries or three 18650 batteries in order to reach their full potential. There are dual 18650 DNA200 mods but these are limited to 133W.

Both offer you a huge amount of customisation options through the eScribe software, downloadable from the Evolv website onto your Windows PC.

The official tagline from Evolv on the DNA75 chip states-

The DNA 75 is a power regulated digital switch-mode DC-DC converter for personal vaporizers.

It features Evolv’s patented Wattage Control, Patent Pending Temperature Protection, Preheat, Digital User Controls, OLED Screen, Onboard Buttons and Synchronous Rectification for maximum battery life and minimal heat generation.

The DNA 75 runs from a single cell lithium polymer battery. The USB port and Evolv’s EScribe software can be used to monitor and customize the user experience. The DNA 75 is vaping down to a science.

eScribe and Using The DNA75/DNA200 Chip

How to use evolv escribeThe DNA75 and DNA200 chips are virtually identical and are used in much the same way.

Initial usage of a mod with a DNA75 chip couldn’t be easier.

  • Hit the power button to wake your device up
  • 5 clicks of the power button will lock and unlock the device.
  • Up and down buttons will change wattage and temperature limit settings
  • The power button will fire your atomiser.
  • Whilst it is locked, holding the up and down buttons for 5 seconds will put it into stealth mode which dims the screen.
  • Holding the up and down buttons for 2 seconds will lock in your current power setting so that it can’t be accidentally changed.

Both DNA chips automatically read resistance accurately. However, if you would like to lock in the resistance, hold down the fire and up buttons.

The screen on a DNA device will be the same size regardless, and it’s a large OLED screen, you can customise the information displayed on the screen through eScribe.

By default, wattage/temperature, battery level, voltage output and resistance are displayed.

When you connect a new atomizer, the DNA chip will ask if it is a new coil or the one you used previously, and it will automatically read the resistance for you.

You can save 8 of your favourite preset settings through eScribe, and these can be accessed by power locking the device then double clicking the up or down button to scroll through them.

eScribe is where the real fun is with the DNA chips.

It is by no means mandatory, you can use a device with a DNA chip in it out of the box without using eScribe, but by using eScribe you can customise your device.

You do need a Windows PC, and the latest eScribe software from the official Evolv website. Not great for MAC users but at the time of writing that’s how it is!

By connecting your device to your PC with a compatible USB cable, pretty much anything you can think of can be configured here.

From screen graphics, to what information is displayed on the screen, the optimum battery settings, and a whole host of information available on how your device is performing.

You can also customise the pre-heat of your device, which provides a selected power boost in temperature control mode, and even customise 8 different profiles to pre-load onto your device and access quickly on the move.

By entering the coefficient information for a particular temperature control wire, you can ensure your DNA mod performs optimally well with pretty much any TC wire!

Evolv also have the Escribe Training Simulator that provides a step by step ‘how to’. That can be found hereevolv esribe training course

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
