In this review we will be taking a look at the AIRTEK Airplay pod system!

I hadn’t actually heard of AIRTEK before I received the Airplay pod system in for review, so I had a quick scan of their website to find out a bit more about the company.side view airtek airplay

AIRTEK are based in China, positioning themselves as a premium e-cigarette brand that offers high-quality vaping devices.

They have a core team drawn from well-known brands, and a strong focus on research and development within their own in-house R&D department.

What Can We Expect From The AIRTEK Airplay?

AIRTEK’s Airplay is a refillable pod system that aims to set a new standard in vaping, combining exceptional performance with refined aesthetics.

This is an auto-draw pod system that offers up to 900 puffs per refillable 2ml capacity pod, featuring a smooth and satisfying vaping experience.

Each pod is powered by Hypercoil technology, so there’s a built in mesh coil that offers consistently rich flavour with each and every puff.side view airtek airplay

An 850mAh battery is designed to last you through your day, and a USB-C charging port means your Airplay can be recharged quickly and easily.

A sleek design makes the Airplay a pocket friendly device, with a distinctive bump-pattern texture and replaceable magnetic panels that allow you to customise the look and feel of your Airplay pod system.

Whilst you vape, a dynamic LED light bar transitions through different colours, providing a visually stunning effect whilst you vape, and makes your Airplay device stand out from the others!

There’s even a built in fidget spinner, giving you something to fiddle with in between puffs.

Many thanks to AIRTEK for sending the Airplay in for review, let’s give this one a spin and find out more!

As always, all views are my own…

Design & Build Quality

The AIRTEK Airplay is a very small, pocket-friendly pod vape that measures in at 68mm x 47.5mm x 15.5mm and weighs in around 49g, making this a very thin and lightweight kit.airtek airplay in hand

After holding it in had, I would say that this also feels quite lightweight in terms of build quality too, with the main body of the device feeling quite light and maybe on the cheaper side.

One feature present on the AIRTEK Airplay is a built in, circular fidget spinner that is present on the top of the device, and in all honesty this is something I would rather wasn’t there.airtek airplay mouthpiece

I found it to be a bit pointless, uncomfortable and intrusive, positioned where I would usually rest my thumb when I hold a device, and I would find that my thumb would just slide right off it whenever I vaped.

With the continual scrutiny on underage vaping in the UK, I’m not sure this is the image that vaping devices should be giving off. This could potentially be misconstrued as appealing to minors.

Anyway, there are also a few other features to mention here too!

On either side of the device are replaceable panels, the stock ones feature a floral design with ‘Awake Your Soul’ printed on them, and these can be detached from the device and replaced.

Though I was unable to find replaceable panels available online at the time of writing.

Underneath the fidget spinner is a cutout to insert a lanyard if you like to have your vaping device hanging around your neck (I don’t), and a lanyard is included in the kit.

Below this is a large LED light bar that illuminates whenever you take a puff and transitions through a random selection of different colours, you can turn this feature off if this isn’t for you.light bar

Opposite to the light bar is the power button and the USB-C charging port, there’s also a basic LED screen that displays the current battery level and the output power.

Airplay pods connect to the device via a magnetic connection, and there are some pretty strong magnets present here holding the pod in place.pod battery airplay vape

These pods are refillable and feature a built in mesh coil termed the ‘Hypercoil’.

Quick Start Guide

How to Fill the Pod

There are two pods included in the kit, you can choose from either a 0.6ohm or 0.8ohm pod.filling the airtek airplay vape

  • To fill the pod, locate the filling port at the side. I actually found the silicon filling port cover quite tough to lift off, so don’t be scared of using a bit of force to get it open!
  • Once the filling port has been exposed, simply insert the bottle nozzle from your e-liquid bottle and fill the pod all the way up.

If you are filling a new pod up for the first time, allow e-liquid to stand in the pod for at least five minutes before vaping. This will extend the lifespan of the cotton in the coil and help guard against nasty, dry hits.

Operation

A big plus point of the AIRTEK Airplay is that this is a very simple auto draw device to use, you can just fill up a pod and vape away on it.usbc chrge port airtek airplay

It does also have some basic functions controlled by the power button-

  • Long press the power button for 2 seconds to turn the device on and off.
  • Quick press the power button twice to adjust the output wattage, pressing the power button again will advance the power setting in 1 watt increments.
  • Quick press the power button three times to cycle through the LED lighting effects or turn the LED lighting off

Charging

The AIRTEK Airplay features a USB-C charging port but does not have a charging cable included with the kit, so you will need to use one of your own.charging the airtek airplay

It charges at a rate of 5V/1A, with charging status displayed on the screen. For a full charge, it takes just under 50 minutes.

How Does The AIRTEK Airplay Perform?

You have the ability to adjust the wattage here, from 10-30W depending on which pod is used. base of airtek airplay modThere’s a 0.6ohm and 0.8ohm Airplay pod included in the kit, and a 0.4ohm pod will be available separately.

Flavour

I’ve got to say that the flavour I got from my e-liquids when using either the 0.6ohm or 0.8ohm pods was a little on the muted side.flavour of the airtek airplay pod

Some of the e-liquids that I vaped in this kit just tasted quite generic and some of the undertones that I could pick up on when using other pods just weren’t present here.

That being said, flavour delivery from the pods is pretty smooth and consistent even at higher wattage.

Pod Lifespan

It may have been that the pods I received were pre-production samples, but I found their longevity lacking somewhat.

I expect to get around a week’s worth of use from a refillable pod these days, but the Airplay fell short of the mark here.

I started off by using the 0.6ohm pod and I noticed that the flavour was starting to tail off towards the end of my second day using it, midway through day three I was getting nasty dry hits rendering the pod unusable.

The 0.8ohm pod didn’t fare much better either. I got four days out of that one before it gave up the ghost.

I wasn’t vaping e-liquids that are particularly harsh on coils either, I had been using the IVG Intense Salts range!

I will say that I didn’t get any leaks from these pods though, and virtually no condensation build up at all.

Airflow

On the side of the Airplay are two small airflow holes, which deliver a mouth to lung vape and a subtle amount of vapour. The airflow on this device is fixed and can’t be adjusted.

I found that I did have to be careful when holding the device and taking a puff as it can be easy to accidentally cover up the airflow slots.

Battery Life

I’ve not got any complaints when it comes to the battery life on the AIRTEK Airplay, I’m happy if a pod system lasts me through a full day and the Airplay doesn’t struggle to do so even when using the 0.6ohm pod at 25W.

Pros

  • Easy to use, beginner friendly refillable pod system
  • Small form factor
  • Decent battery life
  • Customisable appearance

Cons

  • Pod lifespan wasn’t too great
  • Difficult to remove the filling port cover
  • Flavour was pretty average
  • Average build quality
  • The fidget spinner feature is a bit pointless

Final Verdict

So, as I’ve mentioned, this is the first device that I have ever used from AIRTEK and I found it to be a solid but unspectacular performer that is a little let down by the performance from the included pods.

I did really like the small form factor on this pod system. It was light and small enough for me to carry around in my pocket without even really noticing that it was there, and having replaceable panels means you can customise the look of the device slightly.

Now, I couldn’t actually see the AIRTEK Airplay available for sale with any UK retailers, so I can’t comment on whether this pod system offers value for money or not.

All in all, it’s a simple and easy to use refillable pod kit that will offer an upgrade on disposable devices!

Have you tried the Airtek Airplay vape pod? We would love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. These days I've come back to convenience and mainly use pods, disposables and the VOOPOO Drag H40. Most importantly I am still loving vaping!
