What Can We Expect From The JNR Flux Pro?

JNR have produced one of the first ‘Smart Vapes’ here with the Flux Pro- a refillable pod system that has ChatGPT built into it…jnr flux pro box

Yes, you read that correctly, this is a pod system with built in ChatGPT, not to mention a whole host of other features such as the ability to make telephone calls and send text messages!

It has Bluetooth connectivity allowing it to pair to your smartphone, so not only can you conduct phonecalls and send and receive text messages over your vaping kit, you can play music, use it as a remote control to take pictures on your phone, locate your device and more!

A 2.02″ HD touch screen allows you to control your device with smart interaction, whilst being powered by a 1200mAh Li-ion battery with Type-C charging.

Aside from all the smart features, the JNR Flux Pro is also a vaping device too believe it or not!

A 0.6ohm Flux Pro Pod forms part of the kit, powered by cutting-edge NIPLO technology that delivers e-liquid with lightning-fast and ultra-stable performance for instant vaping, with intelligent temperature control boosting vapour efficiency by up to 50%.front jnr flux pro

As a result, fewer harmful by-products are produced with a smoother, richer vaping experience and extended coil lifespan which lowers the costs of having to purchase replacement pods.

Your vape can be tailored just the way you like it, thanks to adjustable airflow, variable wattage from 15-23W, and the ability to tailor the smoothness and power of the vapour delivery.

Many thanks to JNR for sending the Flux Pro in for review, this is going to make for an interesting review that is for sure!

And of course, all views are my own…

Design & Build Quality

Whilst using the JNR Flux Pro, one of my friends said that it looked like I was vaping on a giant smart watch and you know what- they aren’t wrong!

It has dimensions of 95.5mm x 49.2mm x 21.25mm and the resemblance to a smart watch is quite uncanny, especially with the default home screen and the app screen too, this is definitely in ‘Smart Vape’ territory!jnr flux pro in hand

You can choose between three different finishes, there is a Patina, Rose Gold and Silver finish available at launch, each one boasting a copper coloured function button that stands out.

On each device is a cut-out in the corner for a lanyard, and you get a lanyard included in the kit, so if you fancy some ‘vape bling’ hanging around your neck then the Flux Pro ticks the boxes there…

The main stand out feature here is the 2.02″ HD Touch Screen which is gloriously bright and bold- there’s also seemingly no way to change the brightness of this so it is always bright and bold whenever it is on.display options jnr flux pro

Touchscreen functionality is fast and responsive, registering my finger inputs almost instantaneously. By default the home screen displays the time and date, and you can customise this.

Sometimes, the screen is a little too sensitive however, for example when trying to change the home screen wallpaper it seems to spin too quickly between the different options.

And the screen is activated with a press of the function button, which has at times meant that it has activated in my pocket and settings have got accidentally changed as a result, such as when I went to take a puff on it and the child lock had been activated in my pocket.side view jnr flux pro

Flux Pro pods have a 2ml capacity and are top filled, these connect magnetically to the Flux Pro device and make a rather loud water dropping like sound whenever you connect one to the device, I haven’t yet figured how to turn that off so I have had some interesting looks!

pod battery jnr flux proAll in all, the JNR Flux Pro is a device that has definitely been designed to stand out from the crowd.

Quick Start Guide

How to Fill the Pod

Flux Pro pods have been designed so that you can fill them without needing to remove the pod from the device, which is something I always love to see on refillable pod systems.

To fill the pod, remove the silicon filling port cover and insert the bottle nozzle from your e-liquid bottle. Fill the pod all the way up whilst taking care not to over fill it, then replace the filling port cover.how to fill pod jnr flux pro

If you are filling a pod for the first time, let the e-liquid stand in the pod for at least five minutes before vaping, so that the cotton in the coil fully absorbs the e-liquid. This will help guard against dry hits and prolong the lifespan of your coil.

There’s also a transparent finish to the pods, so you can check and see exactly how much e-liquid remains in the pod, which is handy as although there is some form of temperature control present in the device, there’s no dry hit protection!

Operation

Firstly, to turn the device on, hold down the function button until the device powers on. To turn it off, hold the function button down again.

Press the function button once to activate the screen, which will display the time and date by default, though the home screen can be customised with a few different options and looks in the menu.

Accessing the menu and changing options is done via swiping and pressing on the screen. Just like a smartphone! menu jnr flux proBy swiping right on the screen, you can instantly access all of the different functions on the device which are displayed as small app icons.

Swiping left takes you to the second screen, and this shows information such as whether bluetooth is active, coil resistance, the date, battery level and the output wattage.

Following on from this is a screen that allows you to fine tune the smoothness of your vape, output power and the power boost to the coil. Adjusting each of these is done by moving a slider on screen up and down with your finger.smoothness of vape

The next screen is the settings menu, which allows you to change the language, set the time and date, view information about NIPLO tech, reset the device to default settings, view the device version and activate or deactivate the child lock.

After this is a screen that allows you to turn Bluetooth on and off, as well as call and media audio and Bluetooth Low Energy. You’ll need Bluetooth on to connect the device to your smartphone.

To connect the device, you’ll need to download a basic application called Bluetooth Control Assistant, and a QR code displayed on the screen after the Bluetooth one takes you straight to the app.

After downloading the app, you need to pair the device to your phone, ensuring that location services is turned on.

Phone Calls And Text Messages Through Your Vape?

Yes, you can make and receive phone calls on the JNR Flux Pro though I did try this out and the audio quality was not the best, plus the person at the other end was struggling to hear me properly.

You can see SMS text messages that you have received too, though the text is a little on the small side and it was just easier to check my phone when I received a text to be honest!

You can also control your smartphone music app when the device is connected to your smartphone, though this is limited to play/pause, changing the track and the volume.

Oh, and you can also use it as a remote for your camera too, which can actually be quite useful especially if you want to take a group photo!

ChatGPT In A Vape Kit?

From what I can see, this is the first vaping kit to feature ChatGPT!

You can quick access ChatGPT at any time on the device by pressing the ChatGPT logo.

ChatGPT isn’t actually controlling the device however, so you can’t make it vape for you…

It also doesn’t work unless the JNR Flux Pro is paired to your smartphone!

Rather, this just allows quick access to ChatGPT, allowing you to make queries and whatnot through it simply by talking to your vape…

Charging

A USB-C charging port is present on the device, and no charging cable is included with the kit, so you will need to use one you already own or purchase a separate one.usbc charge

Connect a USB-C charging cable to the charging port and use a suitable power source to charge the device.

Checking the charging status is done by pressing the function button to wake the screen up, and charging status will be displayed as a percentage.

How Does The JNR Flux Pro Perform?

At release, there is just the one pod available for the JNR Flux Pro, and that is the 0.6ohm Flux Pro pod which has been designed to be compatible with both mouth to lung and restricted direct lung vaping.0.6ohm pod

NIPLO technology utilises temperature control technology to boost efficiency, and it aims to provide rich and consistent flavour with each puff. I can say that whilst testing, there weren’t any wild variances in the quality of the vape, it is pretty damn consistent.

There’s also near-instantaneous heat up of the coil in the pod, with little to no build up time.

The key thing here is the level of customisation that you have over your vape, not only can the power output can be adjusted from 15-23W but you can also adjust the smoothness of the vape and the power boost to the coil too.

So, if you like a long, laid back and smooth draw, the option is there for that, or if you prefer a shorter, more intense and powerful hit then you can do that too, as well as everything in-between!

That being said, 15W can be a little too powerful for some MTL vapers, and having the ability to lower the power down further or having Flux Pro Pods with a higher resistance available to broaden the appeal of this device.

Flavour

I’ve got to say, this can mix it with some of the best of them when it comes to flavour!

Once I had dialled in my preferred settings (output at 22W, smoothness at 80% and power at 70%), I was rewarded with some lovely, rich tasting vapour that seemed to really excel at delivering flavour notes from some of the more complex e-liquids that I had been vaping.jnr flux pro pod

I loved the fact that I could customise the intensity and the smoothness of the vape too, letting me experiment with different settings with different blends to really get the best out of them.

In fact, regardless of the flavour profile of the e-liquid that I had been vaping, the vape never seemed dull or washed out at all!

Pod Lifespan

Well, this has been a bit variable for me!

I was lucky to be sent a few of the Flux Pro devices, so whilst I have had them I’ve been using a couple at a time in rotation, trying out various different e-liquids from NET tobaccos, dessert combos through to sweet fruity blends.

I have got through three different pods in that time, with one lasting under three days, one lasting four days and another just about making it a full week!

So, I guess the lifespan that you get from your pod will depend on your vaping as well as your e-liquid preferences.

Airflow

On the side of the Flux Pro is an airflow adjustment slider which allows you to fine tune the airflow from an airy restricted lung vape down to a tight mouth to lung vape.airflow

This gives the Flux Pro the ability to appeal to both restricted lung and mouth to lung vapers, as there’s something for everyone here.

And, if you like your clouds, this device is more than capable of producing some thick clouds of vapour too with the airflow wide open and power output turned up!

Battery Life

Battery life from the JNR Flux Pro is very dependent on a number of factors, such as your app usage, whether you have Bluetooth switched on, how frequently you vape and the output power of the device.jnr flux pro front mouthpiece

The features in this device do have a noticeable drain on battery life, and I’ve noticed that I’ve needed to charge it after around 4-5 hours of vaping.

I have managed to get it to last for a full day, by turning the Bluetooth functionality off, vaping less frequently and lowering the power settings, but that won’t be for everyone, especially those that want to make full use of what this device is able to offer!

Pros

  • Probably one of the most feature rich vaping devices on the market to date
  • High level of customisation
  • Large, clear colour screen
  • Can really tailor your vape to your own preferences
  • MTL and RDL vaping
  • Can fill the pod without removing it from the device
  • Able to see exactly how much e-liquid remains in the pod without removing it
  • Fast charging

Cons

  • All the extra features have a big drain on battery life
  • Only get a single pod included
  • Screen can be very sensitive, making it easy to accidentally change settings in your pocket
  • Relatively short pod lifespan

Final Verdict

I’m not really sure whether to call this a vape kit or a smart device if I’m honest!

JNR have really blurred the lines here between a smartwatch/phone and a vape, with a kit that can pair with your phone and make calls, send texts, play music, interact with ChatGPT…oh and obviously it can vape too!

Of course, there are a lot of people that wouldn’t be in the least bit interested in all the fancy apps and add-ons that this kit has, so thankfully this does hit the mark when it comes to performing as a refillable pod system.

And to be honest, I can’t see too many people having a conversation with their vape…certainly not out in public anyway!

The vape is excellent from it, and having the ability to not only adjust the airflow, but customise the smoothness, wattage and the power from the vape brings a very high level of personalisation.

You can really tailor your vape just how you like it, and even experiment with different settings to get the best out of your e-liquids!

One of the biggest shocks to me was the price of this kit, I was expecting it to be north of £30 if I’m honest, but I was amazed to see this listed with a lot of UK retailers for under £16!

That is pretty astonishing value for money when you consider what you get with the JNR Flux Pro if you ask me…

Vaping full time since 2012, started on cigalikes for a while then curiosity got the better of me and I moved onto an vape pens, a month or two later I was seeing people walking around with these interesting shiny tubes and I thought 'I gotta get one of those'. Before I knew it a trip down to my local B&M got me my first VW mod, an Innokin SVD, paired with an iClear 30, and I was hooked. Soon after that I was jumping to VW mods both box and tube shaped, before I then made the jump to rebuilding and thus sub ohming, with my first RDA and mech mod. 1. ah dude you failed to mention that the AI function can only answer questions on information from pre October 2023! it has no knowledge of anything after that, its essentially an outdated encyclopaedia
it also lacks the most basic of pod features, a puff counter!

    • Hi Sam,

      Thanks for leaving a comment!

I was totally unaware of the ChatGPT function only offering information up to October 2023 (I’m not the greatest user/adopter of AI at present), so thank you for clearing that up!

      All the best
