UK MPs Launch VApril
The UK vaping industry – politicians and a celebrity TV doctor are urging the country’s 7 million smokers to switch to e-cigarettes.
VApril is the month long campaign designed to blow away the myths surrounding vaping and get more people off the cancer sticks.
The brainchild of the UK Vaping Industry Association [UKVIA] the VApril Challenge will feature vape shop based workshops and free information packs as well as a strong social media campaign.
VApril front man is Dr Christian Jessen – famous for hit TV show Embarassing Bodies – isn’t at all embarrassed by promoting vaping.
Mark Pawsey MP is the chairman of the All Party Parliamentary Group [APPG] for E-Cigarettes and said:
Vaping is now recognised as one of the best ways to quit smoking and therefore presents a major opportunity to make a significant and positive impact on the public health of the nation. Yet only one in 10 people understand the relative minor risk of vaping compared to smoking.
Even in our own Parliament vapers are treated the same as smokers, forced into outdoor areas far removed from their places of work.
It is time we practice what we preach and make Parliament ‘vape friendly.’
That is why we are seeking to change the rules in Parliament so we can set an example to the public and businesses across the country.
UKVIA director John Dunne said:
There is a real need for greater awareness of vaping amongst the millions of UK smokers, this VApril campaign will encourage more of them to consider vaping as a positive move to quitting.
It is estimated that there are currently some 3m vapers in the UK, with almost half of these having quit smoking entirely.
VApril aims to encourage more to doing the same.
Head to the VApril Challenge website to find out more.
Rangers FC To Be Sponsored By Vaporized
Glasgow Rangers FC has announced a sponsorship deal with UK vape company Vaporized and will allow vaping in their stadium.
They are now officially the clubs ‘vaping partner’ and will be opening a store at the Ibrox stadium.
Rangers Managing Director Stewart Robertson said:
We are delighted to welcome Vaporized to our portfolio of partners and sponsors.
Vaporized Manufacturing and Compliance Director, Doug Mutter said:
We’re delighted to announce our partnership with Rangers, allowing vaping in the stadium concourses to help fans stay on their path to freedom.
However judging from many of the tweets I’ve seen the fans are not that impressed lol.
Vaping With Nicotine Based E-liquids Still Banned In Australia
Despite a number of Australian MPs deciding that vaping is much safer than smoking the government down under says its needs even more research done before even considering lifting the current ban.
As it stands e-liquid containing nicotine is not only banned but illegal with ‘offenders’ facing huge fines and even jail.
The parliamentary committee looking into the viability of removing the ban are split on the health benefits of vaping – despite a total tsunami of facts proving it is.
Aussie vapers and smokers desperate to quit will now have to wait for yet more research to be carried out.
Committee chairman Trent Zimmerman who supports vaping with nicotine based e-liquid was surprisingly enough a tad disappointed:
The committee has been presented with starkly conflicting views during this inquiry and I respect those committee members who have formed different judgements to my own.
I do, however, strongly disagree with the conclusions reached by the majority of my colleagues.
While the evidence base regarding e-cigarettes is still emerging, there are clear indications that e-cigarettes are significantly less harmful to human health than smoking tobacco cigarettes.
If long-term smokers who have been unable to quit smoking tobacco cigarettes switch to e-cigarettes, thousands of lives could be saved.
This is going on longer than ‘popular’ soap operas Neighbours and Home and Away – but really is no laughing matter.
Australian politicians really need to get their collective arses in gear because the longer they wait the more people die – brutal but true.
Anti Vaping Groups Sue The FDA
By delaying legislation over e-cigarettes and certain tobacco products anti-vaping groups say the FDA is exposing users to ‘lethal’ chemicals for longer.
Last year the US Foods and Drugs Administration pushed back a deadline for manufacturers to get approval for their products to August 2022 for e-cigarettes and earlier for cigars.
The law suit has been brought by among others: American Academy of Pediatrics, American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network, American Heart Association, American Lung Association, Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids and Truth Initiative.
Given America seems to be awash with legal actions regarding e-cigarettes and e-liquids of late we’ll do our best to keep you informed!
Greek Vaping Ban Remains
If you’re heading off to one of the Greek Islands for your summer holidays – be careful where you vape.
The Greek Government has just upheld a law banning vaping in all public spaces basically placing e-cigarettes into the same cater category as lit tobacco.
The Electronic Cigarette Businesses Association was hoping the highest court in the land would remove the ban as they say its detrimental to the country’s blossoming vaping industry.
However last week the Supreme Administrative Court decided e-cigarettes and vaping should be treated exactly the same way as smoking.
Reddit Bans Sales and Giveaways of E-Liquids
Despite being one of the biggest sites on the internet it’s not somewhere I’ve been very often at all however Reddiot has now banned all things e-liquid.
Those in the know say the crackdown comes in the wake of recent calls for greater regulation of e-commerce sites in the wake of recent gun massacres in the US.
It’s understood vaping hardware is unaffected.
If this affects you I suggest you check the admin update.
Vaping All White For Teeth
BAT man says vaping unlike cigarettes won’t stain your teeth.
The news comes from British American Tobacco – the company behind the Vype range of e-cigarettes who presented their results from their study at the recent American Association for Dental Research.
I guess our cousins over the pond have whiter teeth than anyone else in the world and maybe BAT are looking to break into the US market with their products?
Anyway human breath was replicated in the lab and cigarette smoke and e-cig vapour was tested on cow’s teeth – hopefully from a dead one…
The fags stained the teeth immediately whilst the vapour didn’t.
All pretty pointless if you ask me but hey if you are worried about that coloured e-liquid you vape on turning your teeth pink – don’t be…
and finally…Who’s Judging the Vaping Judge?
In some parts of the world vaping is a crime indoors and out – and is certainly illegal in public spaces in New York.
However for one Judge local laws mean f**k all as shown by Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Vincent Del Giudice.
During a recent murder trial the justice administering Juuling Judge [at least I hope it was a Juul as it has a better ring to it lol] was captured on camera taking sneaky toots whilst listening to the evidence.
Under the NY clean air act he could have been fined up to $2000 – however he hasn’t been charged and following his blue light coming to er light – the next day he was seen chewing what I guess is nicotine gum!
…and finally…Part 2…The Vaping Elephant
I did try to find an Easter orientated vaping story but how about this guy who has some serious vaping skills!
Experts say the ‘Vaping Elephant’ is actually munching on charcoal – hence the rather impressive VGod style cloudage 🙂
