Matt from SMM, aka Matt Culley, is a cancer survivor who quit a 15 year long pack a day smoking habit thanks to vaping.

Since starting his hugely popular YouTube vape review channel, Matt has shown just how passionate and indeed thankful he is to e-cigarettes, by becoming one of America’s most prominent and vociferous vape advocates.

His channel has racked up and incredible 65,432,243 views since its launch back in February 2014 and at the time of writing, has a whopping 308k subscribers and climbing!

In between vape reviews and the important work of vape advocacy, Matt somehow finds the time to design cutting edge vape gear including the superb Wotofo Serpent SMM RTA – the Hellvape Passage RDA and of course, the new Vandy Vape Gaur-21, said to be the lightest dual 21700 box mod ever made!

Impressive stuff indeed!

So, enough of my waffle – on with the interview, and I’d like to thank Matt from SMM for taking time out from this crazy hectic time of the year to chat with us.

Enjoy!

First a little bit about yourself – are you married – single – looking [lol] – and where are you based?

I have been with Vanessa for 8 years and we are engaged. We live in fairly small mountain town in Montana.

How long have you been vaping, what made you quit smoking – and what was the first vape setup you used and did it work?

I started vaping in 2012. I got oral cancer from smoking and after surgery, still had a hard time quitting.

My first vape was a cheap cig-a-like and that was enough to make me interested and want to try something better.

I think my first good vape device was one of the Innokin MVP kits.

Matt is now BIG into vape advocacy

Why did you begin vape reviewing?

Really just started for fun and was very excited about quitting smoking.

Montana winters are long and we decided to start a channel.

I never expected it to be popular or go anywhere.

What is the best and worst bit of vape gear you’ve ever reviewed and why?

I would say the Turbo RDA was the worst thing Ive ever reviewed.

Such a gimmick.

Best is tough because things incrementally get better every year.

I know when I first tried a Kayfun it was a game changer for me so that sticks out in my mind.

Vaping is in a sorry state in your country right now – what is the future for the industry and how can vapers help and why?

There has been so many twists and turn with vaping in the US.

It’s very hard to predict where it goes from here but I definitely don’t think it will ever die.

When there’s a market for something people find a way to get what they want.

Vapers need to stay in tune with whats going on and always follow the CASAA calls to action.

Finally – a Christmas message to your fans and our readers and anything else you’d like to say!

Big thank you to all the support I have gotten from the vape community over the years.

Happy Holidays!

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.
