Build Quality & Design

Immediately upon taking it out of the box, the mod and tank feels extremely sturdy. It doesn’t feel flimsy like it would creak or groan every time you press the button.wotofo-serpent-in-hand

The Serpent Box has a matte/satin sheen to it which has a slightly grippy texture and the tank is more of a gloss black colour, but these two go very well together.

All the buttons protrude a decent amount from the mod, have circular engraving for grip and are well placed for ease of firing and adjusting the wattage without feeling the need to send a search party to find the buttons.

Also, the Micro USB port is conveniently situated below the buttons, so you can stand the Wotofo Serpent upright whilst charging.

The screen is conveniently placed on top of the device next to the 510 connector. It is extremely easy to read in both bright and dimly lit areas and simple and easy to navigate. wotofo-serpent-50w-oled-screen

The clever positioning of the screen enables the user to glance from the top down rather than having to move your hand from where it naturally sits.

Serpent Sub Tank

The Serpent Sub tank is uniform along its length, has no sharp edges and is lightweight. Wotofo Serpent Sub Tank

The airflow control ring has just the right amount of resistance. Any less and the airflow will adjust every time you place it in and out of your pocket.

All the threads are nice and smooth and the o-rings provide just about the right amount of grip on the tank glass and the drip tip.

How Does The Wotofo Serpent Box Kit Perform?

The Wotofo Serpent Box

Serpent mod functions:

  • A simple 5 clicks of the fire button for on and 5 clicks for off.
  • Holding + and – locks the wattage at your current setting.
  • Fire and + allows you to change from VW mode to the TC and TCR Modes.
  • Fire and – allows you to flip the screen 180º if you want to hold it differently.

The screen is extremely simple to navigate and change between the different modes.

I think that the TCR mode is a great added bonus for more advanced vapers who are wanting to use a custom TCR setting.

One negative is that there aren’t any extra TCR memory slots, this doesn’t effect me at all, but may do others.Wotofo Serpent Box mod performance

Temp Control

The Stainless steel and Nickel temperature control modes work very well.

There doesn’t appear to be a way of adjusting the wattage in TC mode, but the wattages it was firing at were acceptable and I didn’t feel that it needed any more or less power.

Using temperature control does eat through the battery quicker than using it in variable wattage mode though.

Battery Life

The 2000mAh internal battery lasted me a day of regular use at roughly 38w, but for a more heavy user you may need to charge at some point through the day.

Using the TC modes reduced this to about half a day.

How To Fill The Serpent Sub Tank & Change The Coils

Simply unscrew the top-cap and fill via one of the two large holes at the top of the tank, avoiding the chimney in the centre.

Changing the coil is simple.

Firstly make sure that the tank is empty, unscrew the airflow base, unscrew the old coil, dispose and replace with a new one.

Assembly is the exact reverse of disassembly.

The provided 0.5Ω coils I have used throughout the wattage ranges, but it seems to be best at 36-40w.

Closing down the airflow doesn’t overly effect the cloud production or flavour, but it does provide a slightly warmer vape.

I personally prefer having the airflow wide open as this is still slightly restricted, but it offers a great straight-to-lung hit at the right temperature.

The drip tip does seem to be slightly on the large side. Possibly a slightly smaller exterior diameter would have been a bit better, but I got used to it after an hour or two of use.

You can use your own drip tip if needs be.

What I Like

The Serpent mod fits and feels good in the hand. Add to this the lightweight construction and we have a very portable device.

The OLED screen is easy to navigate and the position on the top of the mod makes for easy reading.

The Serpent sub tank has a good 3.5ml capacity and the supplied stock coils carry flavour well.

Add the tank and mod together and the Wotofo Serpent kit makes for an excellent staring point for vapers new to sub ohm vaping.

What I Dislike

The stock drip tip is slightly too big in the mouth for my liking and the top cap can sometimes take a bit of effort to unscrew.

The + and – buttons feel a touch ‘spongy’ and while I like the position of the OLED screen on the top of the device it can, on occasion, get juice on it.

Final Review Verdict

Overall the Wotofo Serpent Box Mod Kit is a great little sub ohm setup!

A stealthy little mod that fits in the pocket and palm, although it may get lost in the larger-palmed vaper.

I would personally recommend this to someone looking to start sub ohming but not wanting to go right in at the deep end.

With the large tank capacity, semi-decent battery life and extreme ease of use, this kit could be used by mostly anyone.

The flavour is good for what it is, the coils last a decent time and wick higher VG liquids with no problems whatsoever.

If I lost or broke this device, would I pay to replace it?

From the mindset of a new user and myself, yes. As said previously, it’s a great bit of kit.

Pros

  • Fits nicely in the hand
  • Easy to use
  • Great value for money
  • Discreet and stealthy
  • Flavour is pretty good
  • Good clouds at low wattage

Cons

  • Battery may not last a day
  • Large drip tip
  • Slight gargle on refilling

The Devil Vaper

Hi, my name is Dean and I have been vaping since April 2014. I decided to start reviewing back in mid 2015 as my friends kept asking me about different e-liquids I had tried and whether they were worth buying. So I thought I'd start on Instagram writing written reviews for them to read. Then several months later, I saw that people were publishing reviews on YouTube, so in late 2015 'TheDevilVaper' was born! And since then, I have built a following across social media and I'm reviewing anything from starter kits to mech mods. Budget e-liquids to premium flavours and prebuilt coils to carry cases. To me, vaping is more than just a way to quit smoking. It is now a hobby. And a hobby that I have great pleasure in doing! And if my reviews help people ditch the cigarettes, then it's a job well done. TheDevilVaper

wotofo-serpent-box-50w-full-kitThe Wotofo Serpent is good quality and well designed kit, especially for someone new to, or looking to start sub ohm vaping. Battery life lacks a little if you're a heavy vaper, but for the average user, it should last you a day before needing a charge.
