Today I take a look at the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA.

The Serpent Elevate has been out for a short time now and is a update of the original Serpent SMM by Wotofo in collaboration with Suck My Mod (SMM), a US YouTube reviewer.

The Serpent Elevate is also by Wotofo and SMM with a few tweaks and alterations to boot.

You now get a top air flow instead of bottom air flow and there has been alterations made to the original build deck to make it postless.

Wotofo say:

Serpent, the symbol of a creative life force in mythology, is also an ever-active product series at Wotofo.

Now let’s present you the most up to date serpent product, the Serpent Elevate RTA designed by Wotofo and Suck My Mod.

It is a postless single coil RTA with top airflow design and the most advanced air distribution structure. Serpent Elevate, an RTA combining its past merits with current vape trends, assures you exceptionally intense flavor!

The Serpent Elevate RTA was sent to me for the purposes of this review. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Build Quality & Design

The build quality of the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA is excellent and is designed with flavour in mind. I didn’t have a drop of machine oil or any sign of loose shards when taken out of the box. The RTA is built precisely as we have come to expect from Wotofo.

Although the diameter of the RTA is 24mm, the chimney inside is designed to give you maximum flavour from the single coil, it is rather small and compact to achieve this.

You get a nice, spare drip tip along with a 510 adapter and spare glass.

Filling the Serpent Elevate RTA couldn’t be easier. With a couple of turns of the top, you are met by two reasonable sized kidney shaped fill holes. Simply unscrew and then fill up the RTA, screw back on then off you go, vaping again.

As you can see, I received the Serpent Elevate RTA in Rainbow, it’s also available in five other colours.

Liquid Capacity

Although I received this RTA direct from Wotofo, the UK equivalent will come with a 2ml capacity in line with UK TPD laws.

The Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA came with a 3.5ml straight glass pre-fitted and a spare 4.5ml bubble glass to increase the capacity.

Post Type

The build deck on the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA comes in the form of a postless, single coil set up. The deck on this RTA is very easy to build on BUT you have to be precise when wicking. The single coil can be placed either way round and inserted with ease.

I used a coil that came with the kit and cut the leg lengths to 6.5mm. The single coil came out at around 0.34ohms

Air Flow

The airflow on the Serpent Elevate RTA is quite restricted for me, even with the air intake fully open. The air flow is very smooth though you do get a slight turbulent sound on the inhale. The air flow on this RTA is from the top thus reducing any leakage at all via the air intake.

Wotofo say:

The Serpent Elevate prevails in flavor production in that it has a scientific air distribution system.

The air comes in from the top air inlets and travels along the wall of the vaporization chamber down to the two big side holes at the deck and merges at the center of the deck bottom and then goes right through the coil above.

Additionally, there are two relatively small holes there to let air in towards the sides of the coil.

How does the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA Perform?

When I eventually got the wicking right, the flavour from this RTA was very good.Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA review

As usual, with all my reviews, I look at everything from a new vaper perspective. I coiled and wicked up the RTA as I would with any other then added my e-liquid. After leaving the RTA to stand for a few minutes I had a vape. Muted flavour and after a short time dry hit city, back to the drawing board.

After re-wicking and thinning out the cotton, again I proceeded to vape. Now I was getting gurgling and excess e-liquid in the chamber, not good. Back to the drawing board again.

Third time lucky perhaps?

So, I re-wicked the RTA again, thinned out the cotton (not as much as last time) and let it hang slightly below the deck, added my e-liquid and go! Yes, third time lucky it was.

You have to be very careful when you put your cotton in the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA.

Due to the RTA chimney being quite tight, too much cotton and you will get dry hits, too little cotton and the deck will be flooded with e-liquid. When wicking, you have to be precise with the amount of cotton you use.

Once you get the wicking on point, you get a very flavoursome vape from this RTA. The airflow is a little restricted for me but you can’t take anything away from the flavour produced.

Pros

  • Very Good flavour
  • Well priced
  • Great Design
  • Leak Proof

Cons

  • Restricted Airflow
  • Difficulties in Wicking
  • Small Bore Drip Tip (minor)

Final Review Verdict

At first, I got a little frustrated with the Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA. Like most things, to get the best out of anything you have to persevere with it. After a couple of attempts at wicking and not getting it right, third time lucky then it was bang on the money.

This single coil RTA produces very good flavour. Despite the airflow being rather restricted for my tastes it doesn’t detract from the overall vape experience.

I started my vaping lifestyle back in 2014 when me and my wife both decided to pack in the cigarettes. It wasn't an easy task at first as I had smoked since the age of 15, so, that would make nearly 30 years on the dreaded cigarettes. After around six months switching between cigarettes and vaping, I finally kicked the habit and became a full time vaper. Vaping is a way out of smoking, not only does it save you money, it may, one day, save your life. For anyone wanting to stop smoking cigarettes, all I would say is stick with it. Nothing in life comes easy, believe me when I say, you will soon start feeling the benefits both in monetary terms and above all, feel healthier. Happy vaping

wotofo-serpent-elevate-rta-reviewThe Wotofo Serpent Elevate RTA really is a very good RTA though has a steep learning curve in regards to getting the wicking right. Once you get the wicking right, you will be bang on the money with the flavour it can produce
