The Eleaf iJust One follows on from a long line of vaping products from this industry powerhouse.

Since its inception in 2011, Eleaf has earned its reputation in the vaping world with a series of sleek and trendy, high performance additions to the vaping family.

Having risen to fame with their iStick series, the Shenzhen based vaping giant continued the good work with the Eleaf Pico mini mod series and, more recently, with the remarkably popular and equally hard hitting iJust all-in-one vaping pen range.

The iJust ONE is Eleaf’s way of taking hand-held convenience (coupled with power) to the next level.

It’s an all-in-one with sub-ohm skills that literally fit’s inside the palm of your hand.

This device was purchased with our own money for the purposes of this review.

Design & Build Quality

Packaging & First Impressions

Judging by the packaging, you’d expect this device to look just like the iJust S, just another all-in-one vape pen, you would be wrong.

I let out a yelp of delight when I opened the standard, stylish Eleaf packaging to reveal the most adorable little all-in-one you could possibly imagine.

All the same proportions as the iJust S, shrunk with a laser beam to fit inside the palm of even the smallest girl-hand.

Because neither of my coil-heads were pre-installed (I’ve heard that some are), what happened was that when I went to lift the device from it’s little foam nest…the mouth piece came away from the top of the tank and almost gave me a heart attack; I quickly learned the truth of the situation.

Look & Feel

We purchased the white version of the Eleaf iJust One for this review, it features a little inlaid yellow rubber band around the mouth piece and also at the bottom of the tank beneath the glass.
Eleaf iJust ONE box

The single rectangular firing button is some sort of yellow polymer (I presume) in the middle with a gorgeous brushed metal frame…It lights up when you power up and will notify you with flashes, when your battery is getting low.

The white finish is scratch proof and high quality, in the sun it has a pearlescent shimmer.

Between button and tank on either side you’ll find three horizontal diamond shaped air holes.

The charge port is situated on the revers of the firing button, with a little red LED under it which lights up during charge.

I find that the device stands easily on it’s own, with a good weight considering it’s minuscule proportions.

The overall impression is one of excellent quality…it looks just as good as it feels in the hand.

It’s the ultimate stealth vaping device, little finger under the base, thumb on button, no one will even know it’s there (that is, until you start blowing massive, sub-ohm clouds).
Eleaf iJust One In Hand

How Does The eLeaf iJust ONE perform?

I’ve been pleasantly surprised from start to finish. Judging by its dimensions, you’ll be blown away by performance.

Its versatile compatibility with standard Eleaf EC and GS coil heads means that this is not just your average beginner’s device, it packs a punch!
Eleaf iJust One and iJust S Size comparison

GS Air 0.75 Ohm Coil Head

This is effectively a 0.75 Ohm coil head in an EC sleeve.

I’m a fairly heavy Direct To Lung (DTL) vaper and so this isn’t the coil head I’d generally run with.

However, being that it’s specially designed to accommodate mouth to lung hits (direct to lung hits also work) this is ideal for beginners and MTL vapers, who’ll be surprised by the full flavour and rich vapour.

EC 0.3 Ohm Coil Head

I recognised this coil head from my iJust S, that’s right…this little device uses standard Eleaf EC and GS coils!

What this amounts to is dynamite in a seriously small package. This is your DTL (Direct to lung) coil head, great flavour and thick rich vapour, I’m in awe of this little device: especially when this coil head is fitted!

Ramp Up

Ramp up is instantaneous and to my disbelief…the little rocket really has some fire power.

Airflow

The airflow is perfect on this device for great short-burst DTL hits, I find it a little open for MTL…but I’m not what you’d call an MTL aficionado.

Operation

There are no controls, just a single hold-down firing button which doubles as a five click power-up or power-down button.

I found that the button needs to be pressed absolutely head on, or else it doesn’t work…specifically when you’re trying to switch it on.

While the manual indicates that the light will stay on when charged, this is not the case: the light is somewhat erratic or perhaps it’s the manual which doesn’t quite make the point.

Battery Life

Don’t get carried away, if you’re chain vaping on a 0.3 Ohm coil head, your battery will drain in two shakes and you had better stay close to a charger.

The 1100mAh battery will only last for about 2-3 hours at best, especially since this device runs at a max of 50W. The charge is very quick though!

Eleaf iJust ONE exploded viewHow To Change The Eleaf iJust One Coil

  • Unscrew the top section (includes the mouthpiece)
  • Unscrew Pyrex tube from base
  • Unscrew coil head if fitted
  • Screw the new coil head into the base
  • Replace the Pyrex tube
  • Replace the top section

The top section and mouth piece can easily be unscrewed, I find the glass tube a little harder to remove from the battery section…in fact, on my first encounter I ended up screwing in my 0.3 Ohm coil head to the base without removing the tube from the base, which was a little tricky but I still got the job done.

How To Re-Fill The Eleaf iJust One Tank

  • Unscrew the top section
  • Drip the e-liquid down the side of the tube
  • Replace the top section

Fill/refill is as easy as can be.

How to fill the eleaf One tankHow To Clean

  • Unscrew top section, mouth piece and pyrex
  • Unscrew Coil
  • Clean all components (except coil head) under warm running water, no detergent
  • Leave to dry naturally or with paper towel
  • Replace

On my second attempt to dismantle the device (to clean before a flavour change), I did manage to get that Pyrex off…on my third attempt, no such joy. Although I can still clean and change the coil, it seems as if the Pyrex is bonded to the base and I wonder if my previous removal of the Pyrex was, in fact, a dream.

While it’s possible to clean and rinse coil heads in water, I’ve found they are never quite the same. If trying this out the cotton in the coil head needs to be fully dry before using again.

Many have also used vodka to clean their coils, but again, I’ve personally found it a lot better (and infinitely less hassle) just to replace them altogether.
Eleaf iJust One Outside

What I Liked

This is the first sub-Ohm device that truly fits inside my jeans pocket, discreet, portable, powerful and great looking!

It hits like its big brother, the iJust S but the difference being it takes convenience to the next level.

What I Dislike

The limitations of a small battery, it comes with the territory though.

Final Review Verdict

While I consider this device to be the perfect gift for a friend on the verge or ideal for office breaks and mall trips…I also feel its something so handy (literally, it fits right inside your hand) that every vaper should carry one, especially for educational/demonstration purposes!

Any noob would be impressed by this thing, non-invasive, small, sexy, powerful: a winner.

If lost or broke would I go out and buy the Eleaf iJust One again?

Absolutely, in fact, I want the full range of colours! It’s so unique and so surprisingly hard-hitting, I’d be dismayed if anything happened to mine…’my precious!!!’

Pros

  • Super-compatible with standard EC and GS coil heads
  • Dynamite in a small package with remarkable sub-Ohm capabilities
  • Quick charge
  • Easy fill
  • Hyper-portability, super-convenience
  • Solid/durable structure
  • So cute!
  • DTL or MTL ready

Cons

  • Limited battery life
  • Limited tank capacity
  • Pyrex tube gets stuck on the base

eleaf-ijust-one-reviewThe Eleaf iJust One proved to be a great little stealth device that performed a treat. The only downside (as with many mini sub ohm devices) was the battery life.

  1. Can’t get it to charge. Red light comes on and stays on. I unplug and it won’t come on. Haven’t had it that long maybe 2-3 months. Can the battery be changed?

  2. Hmm I have the device on the charger, has been charging for a few hours and the bugger still won’t turn on! Any help us greatly appreciated

  3. Frustrating.
I got one to use with cbd vape oil. Straight away issues with leaking. Then, this morning, it started cracking or popping quite loud, felt a bit dangerous to me… the battery seemed to be dead overnight. So I plugged it in, it worked…
    And now it doesn’t. Again.

    I haven’t even had it for 24 hours yet…

Another waste of money on another leaky device with absolute dog shit instructions.

The thing may have short circuited.

    Who knows?

The instructions do not tell you how to fix this. Just tells you what it is.

Makes you want to smoke a cigarette.
At least you know where you are with them.

    • Pete! I’m so sorry to hear about your frustrations and I really…really hope you don’t pick up one of those filthy cancer sticks.
This is a small device that can be a little fiddly but I’m hoping these problems can be addressed with a few checks and tweaks, otherwise you’ll need to get a refund on a faulty device, or at least a replacement but DON’T GIVE UP.

With a new device, I know its weird but sometimes they take a little breaking in and getting used to.

-First up, plug that device in and make sure that the red light is on so you know its on charge, only unplug it when that red light goes off and make sure you leave it powered down by pressing the fire to see whether the light is on.

-Now, this device’s battery is very small and its essential that you don’t leave it on, otherwise it will drain. Make sure you’re doing the five click power on and off and seeing the button light flash in response. If this doesn’t charge it, you need to take it back to where you bought it for an explanation.

-Second…Okay, if you manage to get it charged you need to take the tank apart, check all seals and remove the coil.

-Blow all the juice out through the airflow so you know its dry and clear. I suspect you filled the tank to the top but on this device, you’ll see a tendency to leak if you don’t leave a 2mm space above the liquid. The coil gets flooded and the juice comes out the airflow. This tank can’t handle an overfill…its small.

-This overfilling will likely cause a splutter and a pop that, while alarming, is not dangerous. Also, if you’ve got the coil in and you’ve cleaned the airflow, dab the centre shaft of the coil with an earbud to soak up any excess.

-If this popping is not originating from the tank itself, i.e….the coil, then you need to stop using it right away as you could have a faulty battery.

Third, If you refill the device without overfilling, when the airflow is clear and the battery powered, and you still get a splutter and a pop and a leak…then there could be a problem with your coil head, like faulty threading for example, and you need to install the spare, making sure you screw everything in straight.

-Okay…now, I use a very high 90+ VG liquid in this device but your CBD oil may have a very high PG. If this is the case the thin liquid will tend to leak through the wick and airflow, also it’ll tend to overheat and splutter…so add some VG. PG is not made for low resistance coils.

Don’t overdraw the device, don’t inhale for too long, 4 seconds max, this is a small tank and a small battery and it will overheat, even though it’s low res.

-Last but not least, there’s a slim chance you have a dodgy device and you somehow got liquid down to the battery and shorted it or the battery was faulty to begin.

I sincerely wish you the best with this…take a deep breath and push on, hopefully soon you’ll be able to experience the pleasure of a smooth running vape, you deserve it! Put the option of cigarettes well out of your mind, for the sake of your own health!

All the best, please keep vaping!

    • I assume you are using the iJust ONE, Jenn. If it’s your first sub-ohm vape then you may not have been prepared for the juice consumption factor. A sub-ohm pen, especially one with the low resistance and small tank capacity of this model, will empty much quicker than a plus-ohm vape like a cig alike for example.

I know from experience that the iJust ONE empties rather quickly, that’s why I consider it a great stealth vape but not an all day device.!

Otherwise, your device may be leaking …try blowing into the mouthpiece hard to check whether any juice comes out of your airflow holes on the side of the device.

The fact is, if you detect no juice leak then that consumption is all going into vapor production, which is a good thing, although it can become a little bit costly for sure! Best of luck and let us know how it goes!

        • No problem! I would suggest you try a few things before returning it. First clear that airflow, empty the tank and unscrew the coil head because it may not be screwed in quite straight, this can cause a leak, when the threading is not aligned.

Refill the device to see whether it leaks again. If it still leaks, try installing the extra coil included in the pack, just to be sure.

Make sure you pour against the glass so it doesn’t flood and don’t over fill, this device doesn’t respond well to overfilling. Also, I’ve noticed users experience problems if they use to low a VG juice on a sub-ohm device, the high PG has a tendency to oversaturate and ends up through the wick and out the airflow so aim for a 70+VG if you can help it. You can read more about PG and VG eliquid here.

Also, make an effort to stand the device up straight when not in use, I’ve always made a habit of this, I find most devices just don’t cope well with being upside down.

If none of this works for you then it’s time to return it and insist on a fix or a replacement. Good Luck!

  4. I’m having a hard time as mine seems to be going through fluid extremely fast! I filled it to the top just a couple of hours ago and it’s almost empty! I haven’t used it that much! What could be happening?

  5. This product burnt out. Out of control. Started smoking heavily. Smelled like burnt rubber. Thought it would catch fire. Very dangerous!

    • Wow, Katie, I am so sorry to hear about your bad experience. Being such a small device, its important you don’t overdraw, draw for too long or allow the device to heat up too much during use as any of these mistakes could burn out your atomizer (in which case you’ll just need to replace the coil head). However, this sounds like it could be a battery melt down, another reason why its essential we use the correct charger, i.e.: the one you received with the device. If you were careful with these things there is a good chance you were one of the unlucky few to get a faulty device. Try writing to or visiting the dealer from whom you bought the device, perhaps they will be willing to give you a replacement…if they don’t oblige contact eLeaf, you never know! All the best.
