Today I’m looking at the Flumlite Snugg disposable pod device that has high hopes of replacing the need for a disposable vape.

SNUGG hand checkYou may recall I reviewed the Flum Mi disposable vape around a year ago.

Despite the odd shaped mouthpiece these were impressive devices for flavour and vapour production. The overall score was a direct reflection of my thoughts.

I’ve had a nosey around their website and there doesn’t seem to have been much activity.

..Appearances are deceptive. They have been busy.

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. A lot can happen inside the space of twelve months in the vaping industry and the impending UK ban on disposable vapes is one such example.

There’s little doubt in my mind that starter pod kits will witness a resurgence as a direct result.

While not as entirely easy to use as disposables, they’re going to represent much better value for money in comparison.

That’s where the fixed pod of the Flumlite SNUGG comes in.

What Can We Expect From the Flumlite SNUGG Disposable Device?

Where does the name SNUGG come from?

Well, it’s highly representative of the hopes and aspirations of Flumlite as a vaping manufacturer.

Rear of SNUGG

The idea is derived from the word Snug, as you can imagine. Something familiar, something comfortable and something trusted. A few of the traits Flumlite believe their latest device will offer.

It’s their way of offering disposable vape users an alternative. And by keeping functionality to a bare minimum, it’s hoped the transition to the SNUGG will be an easy one.

As with a disposable there’s no button mashing – the device relies solely on auto inhale to work.

Yes, there is obviously a need to refill the pods and Flumlite have even thought of that with a complimentary range of 40VG/60PG E-Liquids specifically designed for use with the SNUGG. Keep an eye out for a review of these in the future!

Because the built in battery is rechargeable, a percentage indicator has been included to avoid the mishap of running too low. The pod window also allows monitoring of E-liquid levels at all times.

As the pod is fixed to the device it is ultimately disposable, when the coil performance deteriorates you dispose of the whole device. However as it is refillable and rechargeable you will get a lot more use out of it than a standard single use disposable vape.

.. Looks like we’re off to a promising start. Let’s delve further.

Design and Build Quality

The pod and battery section are non detachable but let’s look at them both in turn.

Battery Section

It has quite a classy look and appeal.

The entire alloy body is covered and protected by a clear, toughened plastic material. So it looks like the SNUGG will be able to handle a few knocks and bumps along the way.

I’m reviewing the Titanium version but there’s also the option of a Rose Gold colour scheme.

The corners are nicely contoured and it feels relatively comfortable when held. It does remind me of a disposable but on steroids!

That’s not to say it’s overly large – the height is comparable but the depth makes it more in keeping with a simple starter pod kit.

The front of the device is branded by the Flumlite logo on a metallic band wrapped around the outer shell, separating the pod from the battery section.

It does have a different feel from the rest of the device. Smoother – to the point of me thinking E-Liquid was leaking from the pod. That’s clearly not the case, though.

The word SNUGG runs vertically down the front in what appears to be a military style font. Below this is the 11 x 7mm LCD battery level viewing screen.

The underside of the battery houses the on/off / child lock button and a USB charging port also resides here.

SNUGG USB and on off switchJust to clear any confusion. The child lock and on/off button are one and the same.

I would imagine that’s what CVP technology refers to. Child Vape Protection.

Hold the button for five seconds to switch the device on and do the same thing to switch it off. In other words, hold it long enough for the White LED to flash.

..No fancy five clicks on, five clicks off here, folks!

So horizontal charging reigns supreme again. On that – the included charging cable isn’t the longest in the world. For something that’s just as important as the device itself I think it’s been somewhat overlooked.

Pod Section

As mentioned above, the pod cannot be removed from the device. It’s fixed into place.

It’s also super clear. You’ll have zero issues viewing remaining E-Liquid levels.

And that toughened, thick PCTG material really does look durable and up to the task.

The 0.8ohm hyper mesh coil has four sizeable wicking ports built in. On first glance it resembles a more powerful sub ohm coil.

You could say I’m hyper impressed!

Mouthpiece of SNUGGThe mouthpiece also appears to have considerable thought and attention applied. It follows the natural contours of the device and is very comfortable in use.

It’s a side filling pod and not the easiest to work with, unfortunately. You’re going to need fingernails to prise this one open.

It also doesn’t swivel to allow easy access for the bottle nozzle.

Because the coil is sealed into place and the pod is non removable, don’t expect the Flumlite SNUGG to leak. It’s nigh on impossible.

Quick Start Guide

Protections

The instruction manual does not mention any specific safety protections. Instead it relates to the following:

  • Please turn off the device when it’s not in use
  • Do not leave the charging device unattended
  • Do not drop, throw or abuse your device, which may cause damage
  • Please use a standard USB output charger with proper charging current and voltage range
  • Keep the device away from water or any flammable gas, liquid
  • Do not expose the device onto direct sunlight, dust, moisture or mechanical shock

How To Charge the Battery

  • Using the supplied type C USB charging cable, plug the smaller end into the base of the device
  • Connect the larger end of the cable into a suitable USB outlet

SNUGG chargingAs soon as you plug the USB cable into the base, the White LED begins to pulse and continues to do so throughout the charging cycle.

It remains solidly lit once charging is complete.

The on screen battery percentage will increase by 1% increments to reflect the status of charge. The screen remains lit until charging is complete at 100%.

After this the device will switch off as a safety precaution.

It took exactly one hour to fully recharge the device. So that does reflect fast Type C USB charging.

Be aware that it’s not possible to vape the SNUGG while it’s being charged.

How To Fill the Pod

Ok. First things first.

Do not attempt to vape on the device before applying E-liquid for the first time. This is also mentioned in the instruction manual. You’ll damage the coil and ruin any chances of a satisfying vape.

  • Lift open the silicone stopper on the side of the pod
  • Push the E-Liquid bottle nozzle through and into the fill chamber
  • Gently squeeze E-Liquid inside
  • Filling the pod SMUGGRemove the bottle nozzle and replace the silicone stopper ensuring a firm seal
  • If this is the first time you’re filling the pod, let the E-liquid soak into the cotton wick ports for around three minutes prior to vaping

Because this is a side filling pod I suggest administering E-Liquid with the pod in a horizontal position. It’s just another way of avoiding any unnecessary spillage.

It’s also not essential to totally fill the pod. Just ensure the cotton wick ports are submerged at all times for best vaping results.

How Does the Flumlite SNUGG Disposable Device Perform?

To test the built in 0.8ohm hypermesh coil I used Flumlite’s own tailor made E-Liquid. It includes 20mg salt nicotine in a 60PG/40VG ratio.

The flavour was Torus Cereal. Yeah, yeah. Not everyone’s favourite flavour category but I wanted to try something different.

Flumlite E-liquidAnd I was not disappointed.

The flavour quality is amazing from these pods. From the very first exhale I knew I was getting something rather special indeed.

The biscuit like cereal content pulls through instantly. There’s nothing wishy-washy or watered down about the taste whatsoever.

It’s very strong and reminds me of fruit loop breakfast cereal to a tee. There’s a rich, milky quality wrapped up in a cooling agent that has just as much impact as the flavour itself.

I got a very smooth inhale but will say I think the airflow is slightly too loose and uncomfortable for what I’d consider an effective MTL vape.

But no worries because I was easily able to revert to my preferred RDL vaping style with no issues. In fact that’s how I continued to vape. We tell you what the terms MTL and RDL mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

So as a consequence, even the vapour production from a MTL vape has more volume than a disposable vape. RDL vaping turns the SMUGG into a full blown pod kit by comparison.

Excellent cloudage, in other words.

Battery Life & Number of Puffs Per Charge

I managed to get nine and a half hours continuous use from the SNUGG. That’s about what I would expect for a battery with a 1200mAh capacity.

This works out to around 700 puffs from the 2ml pod. That’s significantly more than your average disposable, so great stuff!

On the basis that each pod lasts for one 10ml bottle of E-liquid that is indeed 3,500 puffs.

Wow! A product that lives up to its puff count promise! Extra kudos, Flumlite.

The SNUGG knocks out a constant voltage and this was noticeable by how well the battery held up throughout use.

There was only slight degradation to flavour as the battery indicator reached around 5%. I would suggest that’s when you consider recharging the device. If you continue to use the SNUGG it will eventually just stop working.

The solid White LED on the base (usually activated by auto inhale) will then flash three times in quick succession.

Time up!

Pros

  • Fantastic flavour and vapour production
  • Decent MTL vape. Even better RDL vape.
  • Fully transparent E-Liquid viewing window
  • Comfortable mouthpiece
  • Reliable Auto inhale
  • Clear, bright display
  • Robust and durable design
  • Easy to use on/off – child lock switch
  • No leaking

Cons

  • Silicone stopper can be fiddly to use
  • Horizontal charging (subjective)
  • Very short USB charging cable (subjective)

Flumlite SNUGG Disposable Device Final Review Verdict

You really are getting all the benefits of a disposable vape when it comes to using the Flumlite SNUGG disposable pod device.

Of course, they’ve nailed it with their own particular range of E-Liquids but I dare say there are others out there such as the ImpJar and Elux range that will be just as effective.

However, remember to limit yourself to a single flavour per device because it doesn’t deal with ‘flavour overhang’ very well. You’ll end up with a potential mix of Cherry and Cucumber.

An extreme example, I know but you get the gist.

Stick to E-liquid ratios of 50VG/50PG or 40VG/60PG for best results.

I was impressed by the sensitivity of auto inhale. Just like a disposable vape, it never let me down and the on screen display remains lit long enough for me to see the current battery percentage.

Speaking of the display, it is bold and it is bright. The digits remind me of an early classic Casio watch. Oh for the nostalgia!

It holds up extremely well in direct sunlight.

I’m not the biggest fan of the silicone stopper. Flumlite aren’t the only culprits here by any means. It’s an area where manufacturers really need to think long and hard.

Fill port SNUGGShould I have to reach for a tool to open it? Is it assumed that everyone has adequately long fingernails? What about those with dexterity issues?

And horizontal charging means that you really need enough E-liquid in the pod to prevent the wicks from drying out. That could lead to a dry hit..

That’s maybe a couple of areas I would look at improving things. Then the SNUGG can well and truly live up to its name as being highly accessible and easy to use.

And you could say the device does include a child lock mechanism in that you simply switch the device off when not in use.

Summary

The real star of the show is the 0.8ohm hyper mesh coil. It’s bloody amazing!
The flavour and vapour production is fantastic.

It really is.

Flumlite have gone out of their way to ensure the device replicates the experiences of a disposable vape. In my humble opinion they’ve definitely succeeded.

The same flavour intensity, bite, sweetness and icy blast you’ve come to know and love from your favourite disposable vapes.

You’ll notice the difference in your pocket too. At least five times the number of vapes for around the price of one disposable.

So is this the birth of disposable 2.0? Does the SNUGG have a right to feel smug?

Yes, I honestly think so!

I’m super impressed by the vaping experience of the Flumlite SNUGG disposable device.

flumlite-snugg-disposable-device-reviewCould this be the future for those used to disposable vapes? Those who have no inclination to mess around with replaceable coils and convoluted menu screens? I think it could be. With a few minor tweaks, Flumlite could easily lead the way with their no thrills, no nonsense and easy to use SNUGG disposable pod device. It has the same flavour intensity of a disposable, better vapour production and represents far better value for money. I'm super impressed!
