Design & Build Quality
Once assembled, the Fumot Mate Pod is a sleek and compact pod system featuring a smooth, matte finish. It’s quite pocket friendly too and nice to hold in hand!
I’m happy with the design of the refill container, by making this transparent you can see exactly how much e-liquid is left in the container, so it’s easy to check when it might be time to buy a new one at a glance.
The drip tip is built into the pod, and the flattened shape of it fits nicely on my lips. I didn’t once have an issue with it getting warm during vaping.
On the front is a large LCD screen which displays remaining battery life as a percentage, and it also shows whether boost mode is active or not. This screen is clear and easy to read at a glance.
Quick Start Guide
You’ll need to assemble the pod system before you vape a Fumot Mate Pod, thankfully this is pretty quick and straightforward.
Simply click the pod and refill container together then slot the assembled pod/refill container into the top of the device. After that, you are ready to vape!
To vape on the device, simply take a draw on the mouthpiece.
If you fancy a bit of a stronger vape, press the black button on the side to activate boost mode, and ‘BOOST’ will be displayed on screen to indicate that it is active.
Charging
To charge a Fumot Mate Pod, insert a USB-C charging cable into the charging port at the side. Charging status will be displayed on the screen, which will turn off once the device has finished charging.
Flavours
Well, there’s certainly a lot to choose from here! A whopping 24 different e-liquid flavours are available for the Fumot Mate Pod, and these are-
Banana Ice, Blue Razz Cherry, Blue Razz Gummy, Blue Razz Lemonade, Blue Sour Raspberry, Blueberry Ice, Blueberry Raspberry, Cherry Berry, Cola Ice, Fizzy Cherry, Juicy Peach, Kiwi Passion Fruit Guava, Lemon & Lime, Menthol, Pineapple Ice, Pink Lemonade, Rainbow, Skittles, Strawberry Ice, Strawberry Kiwi, Strawberry Raspberry Blueberry, Strawberry Raspberry Cherry Ice, Summer Dream and Watermelon Ice.
Fumot sent through a selection of eight flavours to try out, and here are my thoughts on them-
Juicy Peach
This is a very well rounded peach vape!
Top marks to Fumot for authenticity here, this one definitely nails the flavour and texture of peach, loaded with sweet and juicy flavouring. This one is lip smackingly sweet, and goes for authenticity rather than tasting like a peach candy.
If I could pick out one negative, and there was only one that I could think of with this flavour, was that there was just a touch too much sweetener in the blend!
Pineapple Ice
I’m very partial to a pineapple ice flavour and this one was really enjoyable. It’s like a pineapple cube sweet, rather than tasting like pineapple fruit or juice, and doesn’t taste over-flavoured or over-sweetened.
The cooling effect is quite well done and adds a nice refreshing touch to this flavour.
Kiwi Passionfruit Guava
This had quite a dominant note of passionfruit throughout with the kiwi and guava flavours in the background. The guava comes in a little stronger towards the finish.
Texture wise, this was very reminiscent of a tropical juice blend!
So, if you like your Kiwi Passionfruit Guava blends heavy on the passionfruit, definitely check this one out!
Lemon & Lime
Ok, so this one tasted like a refreshing lemon and lime flavoured ice lolly to me.
The lemon and lime are well balanced, with plenty of tart and sharp notes, and there was a hint of koolada present too to give it the effect of an ice lolly.
A tasty and refreshing lemon and lime blend!
Blue Sour Raspberry
I’ve grown quite fond of blue sour raspberry flavours over the years!
This one is pretty decent, though not as sour as some others that I have tried. The blue raspberry flavouring is strong, though still pleasing throughout and easily vapeable.
The sour note is more detectable towards the finish, and I do notice it at the tip of my tongue, though as I’ve said it is more subtle compared to some others that I have tried.
Blueberry Ice
This was the only disappointing one that I tried out in this range.
I felt that the blueberry tasted a bit flat and it was quite artificial tasting, with a bit of a sharp edge. The cooling element was very muted and barely noticeable even with a bit of extra power going to the coils thanks to Boost Mode.
Definitely not as strong and punchy as the others in the range!
Blueberry Raspberry
On the inhale I pick up on a pretty strong flavoured blueberry that has a hint of a floral note in the background, before raspberry comes in with a little hint of a sour note to it.
The blend here is pretty good though I would say that the blueberry flavouring is slightly stronger than the raspberry here.
Blue Razz Lemonade
And we finish off with the fourth ‘Blue’ flavour out of the samples that I got! If you are a blueberry/ blue raspberry fan then this range absolutely has you covered with a massive seven different options to pick from!
I would say that Blue Razz Lemonade was my pick of the eight that I got to try out, and the one that I would be most likely to purchase again.
The balance between the blue raspberry and lemonade flavourings is pretty spot on, and its got a pleasing sour kick to it thanks to the blue raspberry and citrus elements.
The lemonade flavouring is quite lively too, definitely not a flat one for sure!
How Does The Fumot Mate Pod Perform?
I couldn’t see what the resistance of the coil was online, only that these feature a dual mesh coil system which is a set up very commonly used in prefilled pods.
So, this is a Mouth to Lung pod system offering a slightly airier draw than what you would find on a disposable. And the vape can be intensified further by using Boost Mode, offering a warmer and more powerful vape.
I did find that the standard mode was a little too weak for me and I vaped the Fumot Mate Pod almost exclusively with the Boost Mode function activated.
Battery Life
An 850mAh battery is built into the device, which was easily enough to get me through a whole day, even with boost mode turned on. And I was chain vaping it a lot!
I think the average user of one of these would get even longer from a full charge, possibly stretching into two days worth of use.
How Many Puffs Do You Get From A Fumot Mate Pod?
Fumot market the Fumot Mate Pod as offering up to 10,000 puffs from the prefilled 2ml pod and 10ml refill container.
Mileage from one of these will vary, as longer draws as well as using boost mode will decrease the puff count as more e-liquid is drawn to the coil.
With 2-4 second puffs, and Boost Mode exclusively on all the time, I got 5,233 puffs from the Juicy Peach one.
By taking shorter puffs and not using boost mode, you could likely increase the puff count even more!
Pros
- Easy to assemble and vape
- Pick up and play refillable pod system
- Able to see exactly how much e-liquid is remaining at a glance
- Lots of puffs for your money
Cons
- Weak vape unless Boost Mode is used
- Very fruit heavy range
- Can’t see refill containers and pods available for sale in the UK yet
Final Verdict
Well, this is a pretty solid prefilled pod system I must say!
It’s easy to assemble and get vaping on within a minute or two, making it accessible to pretty much anyone. And as these are a simple puff and go system, they make for a great pick up and play option.
And on the whole, aside from the disappointing Blueberry Ice flavour, the flavours that I got to try out were pretty solid. You get a lot of vaping here too thanks to the prefilled pod and refill container, delivering a lot of puffs for your money.
If you are making the switch from disposable vapes due to the recent UK ban then you can’t really go wrong with giving one of these a go!
