Design and Build Quality

As you can see I have the Matt Red Carbon Fibre design, it came well presented in a card box with paper over sleeve.

UB Ultra Pod tank

This pod tank is of good quality. It is made of Polycarbonate (PC) and is all one piece apart from the Delrin 510 replaceable mouthpiece. My pod tank has a slightly smoky appearance.

“Lost Vape UB Ultra” is printed on the plastic sealed cap. Lost Vape with its usual flair has placed a silver band around the cap.

Allowing for a firm connection to the Q80 body, the pod has 3 magnets on the bottom.

Disappointingly this is a bottom fill pod, a top or side fill might have been a better choice, however, the fill port is quite wide it is covered with a thick silicone bung.

2 coils come with the kit

  • UB Ultra M3 0.15Ω – 60 to 80W
  • UB Ultra M1 0.3Ω – 40 to 60WLost Vape Centaurus Q80 available coils

Going with my own experience the coils taste like Kanthal, however, I can’t say for sure as there is no indication of the mesh type in any of the paperwork!

Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q80 Device

The device is around 120mm tall with the pod in place, the main chassis is made of Zinc Alloy and without battery and liquid the weight of the kit is 115g.

Like most pod devices this one has a bay that the pod tank sits in. looking into the bay you will see 2 gold plated and spring-loaded contact points.

A metal rail runs the inside of the bay so the pod magnets can get a strong hold. There is space under the metal rail for airflow.

How Does the Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q80 Kit Perform?

Today I will be using the kit with the 0.15Ω coil and for e-liquid, I will be using Double Drip “Cherry Bakewell Tart”.

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 on top of car

I always enjoy using and reviewing Lost Vape products, for me, they always strike the right balance of beauty and functionality. The Centaurus Q80 is no exception to this, with its quick-fire, clean lines and rugged hardy feel.

0.15ohm Coil

To start with I set the wattage at 25W, so the coil will start to bed in. The airflow I set to less than a ¼ open. I received a reasonable representation of a mouth-to-lung (MTL) style vape that was very cool and flavoursome.

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 set 25w

I upped the wattage to 35W and opened the airflow to ½ this setting was particularly good for me. As a restricted direct-to-lung (RDL) style draw the vapour was plentiful while not overly warm it produced a good flavour!

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 35w toot

Changing the wattage up to 65W and fully opening the airflow for a true sub-ohm direct-to-lung (DTL) draw – the vape for me was a bit warmer. The vapour production was nice and cloudy with a fairly good flavour.

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 65w toot

Over 65W I found that while the vapour was excellent the flavour was somewhat muted.

I did up the wattage to the full 80w with the 0.15Ω coil which was interesting, to say the least! With a fully charged battery the vapour was quite hot but as the battery discharged it became more comfortable. However after a while I detected a slightly burnt taste which was accompanied by some hot spit back from the coil!

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 wall display

In using the Centaurus Q80 for nearly 2 weeks, the coils have coped well with different wattages and styles!

The 0.15Ω coil lasted me just over a week and the 0.3Ω which I’ve been using exclusively with an RDL style draw at 35/45W is still going strong!

Lost Vape Centaurus Q80 matt red and cabon fibre display

Battery Life / Leaking

Leaking into the pod bay has been minimal with just a little condensation which is normal for a pod device.

With a freshly charged 18650 battery (depending on my vape style and wattage) the device will last me about 3½ hours RDL style, which isn’t that good but I’m a heavy vaper so you might get a different result!

Pros

  • Good quality and design
  • Fair flavour
  • Good vapour production
  • Comfortable to hold
  • Easy to use

Cons

No concerns with functionality, quality or design, maybe the battery life.

Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q80 – Final Review Verdict

It was very hard to find anything that truly concerning with the Q80 – in fact, I couldn’t find much, so I focused on the battery life!

I’ve enjoyed using the kit in the time it’s been in testing.

Pure fantasy on my part, I wish Lost Vape had included a 510 adaptor in the box so that 510 tanks could be utilized on the device!

Would I recommend the Lost Vape Centaurus Quest Q80 kit?

Yes, I’d recommend it to all levels of experience.

Would I repurchase this kit due to loss or damage?

Yes, I’d consider buying it, the price is very reasonable – I’d still shop around as the prices vary greatly!

Hi my name is Kevin, I started vaping back in 2009 mainly because my little boy at 3 years old was starting to copy the way daddy smoked a cigarette! Over the years I have gained a good amount of experience with different types of vaping hardware but I'm just a normal guy who enjoys sharing my experiences. This is why I started my Youtube vape review channel in 2014. To date the channel has had over 500,000 views. Being disabled, vaping has given me a gateway to meeting people from all different walks of life, many of those I would not have met under other circumstances. The way I look at my reviews is, if I can convince just one person to give up the stinky’s my job is done. I class myself as a tinkerer as I like to take things apart to see how they work and put them back together, yes that includes e-cigarette mods! One day I would like to be able to design my own mod. I am a dedicated father, and husband to my sweetheart of nearly 30 years! Family to me comes before anything else.
