Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA Review: Enter The Dragon!

Introduction: The Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA by Wotofo & Ryusei Sakaue

Today I take a look at the Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA.

The Elder Dragon RDA is one of the latest releases from Wotofo following on from the release of the Profile RDA and has been designed in collaboration with Ryusei Sakaue who is a Japanese YouTube reviewer.

There is always a story with products coming out of China and this is noe different, this is what Wotofo have to say about the Elder RDA:

The dragons have sweeping powers. They breathe clouds and control the waters of rivers, lakes, and seas. The Elder Dragon RDA, as a projection of the mighty dragons in the story, is competent to fulfill any tasks in breathing clouds and controlling your e-liquid for perfect flavor. It is designed by Wotofo and the Japanese YouTube reviewer阪上龍生, and is named Ryujin (the dragon god)

The Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA was sent to me direct for this review. As always, I will give you my own, honest opinion of this product after a lengthy testing period.

Design and Build Quality

The Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA is very well designed and machined, there are no sharp edges, residual oil or loose shards when received. It sits nicely on top of most Mod’s with it’s 22mm diameter. It is certainly built for flavour.
It’s always nice when you receive a spare drip tip with any RDA which is exactly what we get with the Elder Dragon.

Whilst using this RDA as a dripper, you can easily drip from the top through the Drip Tip or lift off the Top Cap and drip directly onto the coil and cotton. The tolerances on the O-Rings are superb allowing you to easily remove the top cap but tight enough to hold the cap in place.

Depth of Juice Well

The juice well for this RDA sits very deep but the well is also very narrow. I haven’t had any problem over dripping or over squonking with this RDA since I have had it.

Post Type

The build deck on the Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon comes in the form of a postless, single coil set up. The deck on this RDA is super easy to use. The single coil can be placed either way round and inserted with ease.

I used the coil that came with the kit and cut the leg lengths to 6.5mm. The single coil came out at around 0.34ohms

Air Flow

The airflow on the Ryujin Elder Dragon is very smooth indeed, you will not get any turbulence or whistle noises from this RDA. The air flow comes in from the air inlets on either side. There are two holes on either side that can be adjusted equally.

The recommended coil placement allows for the air to hit directly underneath your mounted coil giving this RDA optimal flavour.
The Elder Dragon comes in some great colours, six to be exact. I’m sure there’s a colour here to suit everyone’s taste.

How does the Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA Perform?

Whether you are using the Elder Dragon RDA as a Dripper or as a Squonker, you will not be disappointed at all by the all round performance.

At first, I was a little concerned with the size of the juice wells. Although they are very deep, they aren’t very wide and I was a little concerned with over dripping or squonking.

One thing I did do so the wells weren’t full of cotton was to thin the wicking out, this then lent some room to the e-liquid.

Throughout my time with this RDA I never over dripped or over squonked once.

I spent about most of my time throughout the review using this RDA as a dripper. There is no change to the flavour as you would expect from dripping or squonking, it’s just down to preference.

This has to be one of the easiest decks I’ve built on for a while. If you are thinking of taking the leap into rebuildables, you couldn’t go far wrong to have this RDA as a starter, it really is that easy.

Final Verdict

The Wotofo Ryujin Elder Dragon RDA really is an excellent piece of kit. An easy deck to build on with a smooth vape and some top notch flavour. The build quality and design is superb, pretty much what you would expect from Wotofo in recent times.

I would not hesitate to recommend this RDA to anyone who was in the market for something shiny and new. This is really a great RDA for dripping or squonking and of course, some excellent flavour!
