The ZAP x Instafill disposable vape kits are a really intriguing new entry to the vaping market, featuring a new design of disposable vape that can truly be described as revolutionary.
ZAP Juice were founded in 2016 and are based out of Manchester. They are widely recognised for offering innovative twists on popular vaping flavours. Their products are sold not just within the UK, but across the world too.
They offer 32 different flavours across their three e-liquid ranges, alongside their ZAP SHADES range of disposables and also the ZAP x Instafill range. All of their products are compliant with TPD regulations.
What Can We Expect From The ZAP x Instafill Range?
This is a new style of disposable vape kit that aims to revolutionise your run-of-the-mill disposable vape. It offers an environmentally friendly alternative to single use disposable devices as well as offering more value for money.
It is one of the few disposable devices out there that offers a rechargeable battery. The device promises to offer up to 3500 puffs from the included 10ml bottle of e-liquid. Making these kits a great option if you are looking to move away from single use disposable vapes.
The 2ml capacity tank can be refilled multiple times using the innovative vacuum pump refilling system. This draws e-liquid into the tank from a 10ml bottle that is inserted through the base of the kit.
You have a 0.8ohm mesh coil and it is draw activated. It delivers a mouth-to-lung (MTL) draw reminiscent of the one you would get from a cigarette.
The e-liquids are blended with 20mg nicotine salt, meaning that you get a quicker and more satisfying nicotine hit than traditional freebase nicotine. Nic salt is absorbed into the bloodstream faster.
Nicotine salt offers smooth flavour delivery too, so you can vape stronger nicotine strengths without a nasty harsh throat hit!

Both the battery and the bottle are removable! Once you are done with a ZAP x Instafill disposable vape kit, you can separate the battery, bottle and device for recycling using a suitable recycling point.
In this review, I’ll be covering the ZAP x Instafill disposable vape kit function and performance, as well as how the e-liquid flavours stack up to their descriptions and my own personal thoughts on them.
As with any e-liquid, your experiences may differ!
Vape Club kindly sent me all 18 of the ZAP x Instafill disposable vape kit flavours, so there is a lot to cover in this review.

Kit Contents
I have got to give a shout out to the inspirational messages printed on the side of each of the boxes! Featuring quotes from luminaries such as Steve Jobs, Nelson Mandela, Thibaut and Estee Lauder! Quite a nice little touch I think!
Each ZAP x Instafill disposable device comes boxed, with the flavour and nicotine strength clearly visible on the front of the box.
The rear of the box features specifications, ingredients, relevant warnings and contact information. Nicotine warnings are printed clearly on the front and rear of the box.
The base of the box has the lot number and expiry date printed on it.
Inside the box you’ll find:
- ZAP x Instafill disposable device
- 500mAh battery pack
- 10ml bottle of e-liquid
- Instruction manual.
- Compliance information, a tutorial and the Instafill website are all accessible by scanning QR codes printed on top of the boxes.
Design and Build Quality
The ZAP x Instafill kits sport a unique design that is quite reminiscent of a squonker!
They have a removable 500mAh battery, that can be recharged and a 10ml bottle of e-liquid that needs to be inserted into the kit before using it.
This design really sets them apart from traditional single use disposable vapes.
Each of the flavours sports its own graded colour scheme on the device, with the ZAP x Instafill logo on either side. A clear viewing window at the side shows you how much e-liquid you have left in the bottle. On the opposite side is a single fixed airflow intake hole.
At the top is the integrated tank. A 0.8ohm mesh coil is fixed directly underneath the mouthpiece. The mouthpiece is fairly flat and has a reasonably large bore for a mouth-to-lung device.
The integrated tank has a 2ml reservoir. Next to this is the button for the vacuum pump mechanism that feeds e-liquid from the 10ml bottle into the tank reservoir.
They are ergonomically designed, with nice, rounded edges and feel comfortable to hold in hand.
Not too weighty either and won’t take up too much space in your pockets! There’s a premium look and feel to them. I didn’t feel that they looked or felt cheap. However a couple of the devices I was provided with had a small issue where the battery wouldn’t clip back into place properly, making it loose and very easy to slide out.
At the time of writing this review, replacement batteries and e-liquids aren’t available for the ZAP x Instafill kits and I’m not sure there are plans to provide any either.
As the coil is fixed into the device and cannot be replaced, the kit becomes useless once the coil has reached the end of its lifespan. So there probably isn’t a market for replacement batteries and e-liquids for these kits at present!
Quick Start Guide
When taking a ZAP x Instafill kit out of the box, you’ll need to slide the battery out of the kit to remove the battery safety sticker and screw in the 10ml bottle of e-liquid.
There’s a cap present underneath the chamber that the bottle of e-liquid needs to be inserted into.
This needs to be removed, along with the rubber lid and cap on the bottle of e-liquid. Insert the e-liquid bottle into the chamber and then screw it into the fitting. You can also remove the label from the bottle if you so wish, I personally haven’t bothered for the most part.
There’s a notch cut into the bottle cap that should (in theory) make it easier to screw the bottle in if you place the bottle cap at the bottom of the e-liquid bottle. But I found that it was a bit loose and it was easier just to screw the bottle in using my fingers. Once screwed in, just replace the bottom cap and begin the process of filling the tank.
How To Fill The Instafill Tank
So, there is a bit of a knack to this.
First time I tried it, I just barrelled on ahead and assumed I needed to pump the button furiously whilst inverting the kit. Which meant it took an absolute age for the tank to fill up as it was only releasing very small amounts of e-liquid into the tank.
Don’t do this!
It might take you a few tries to get the hang of it, but the way to efficiently fill this is to hold down the button on the pump and slowly invert the ZAP x Instafill kit, watching the tank to make sure you don’t overfill it and cause flooding.
If done correctly you can fill the whole tank in a couple of seconds!
Once the tank is filled for the first time, stand the kit up and let it sit for around five minutes before having a puff on it to allow the cotton in the coil to efficiently absorb the e-liquid. Whenever you need to top the e-liquid up in the tank, just repeat the filling process.

Charging
USB-C charging is present here and the battery can even be removed from the device and charged.
You simply grab a USB-C cable (there isn’t one included in the kit), plug it into the charging port and it will take around an hour to fully charge a depleted battery.
There’s even an LED light indicator present at the base of the battery, next to the charging port. However this doesn’t do much apart from light up when drawing on the device and charging it and blinks when the battery needs charging.
A small change I would love to see is an LED light indicator that gives you a rough idea of how much battery life you have left. At present you don’t get an idea of how much battery life is left. The vape will become weaker until it is time to recharge the battery.
How Does The ZAP x Instafill Vape Kit Perform?
A fixed 0.8ohm mesh coil is fitted in each ZAP x Instafill, which is of a lower resistance to what is found in most disposables on the market, with most of the popular disposables sporting coils in the region of 1.2-1.4ohm.
It uses an auto-draw system too, so you only need to inhale on the mouthpiece to get it to fire.
In practice, a lower resistance coil usually means a bit more ‘oomph’ from your vape. It’s a touch warmer than a disposable and I have found it to be more flavoursome. Having a lower resistance coil does have an impact on the battery life however.
I get a solid mouth-to-lung draw from the ZAP x Instafill kit and a fairly discreet amount of vapour. No massive clouds out of this!
It’s claimed that you can get up to 3500 puffs from each kit, so I decided to put this to test. Not an exact one however!
I took out a fresh ZAP x Instafill, filled the tank up and counted how many puffs that I took before the 2ml tank capacity was empty.
I got 488 puffs from the Red Fuel one before needing to refill. 488 puffs from a 2ml fill would give 2440 puffs from a 10ml bottle (working on the unlikely assumption that you would get the exact amount of puffs each time you filled the tank!). Which is obviously short of 3500 puffs, but I was taking frequent, slow and long draws on it.
How you vape will affect what you will get out of it and I have rarely vaped a disposable that lives up to the claimed amount of puffs!
Getting in the region of 2500 puffs out of one is still good going, especially when one of these kits will cost you in the region of £13.
From experience that will match what you would get from purchasing four to five disposables. Which would cost you in the region of £25!
I’m quite a heavy vaper and I have found that the 500mAh battery found in these kits will last me most of the day before needing to be recharged. Usually by early evening if I have started to use it first thing in the morning.
I’ve also found that I’ll usually vape through a full 2ml tankful in a day too, topping it up at the end of the day.
Longevity from the coils has been pretty good too! On each one that I have finished I have been able to vape the whole included 10ml bottle without the coil burning out beforehand. Plus I have also managed to top up the empty 10ml bottle with more e-liquid and vape that before the coil started to burn out!
You can’t just insert any old 10ml bottle of e-liquid into a ZAP x Instafill kit however, as the ZAP x Instafill bottles are specially designed for the kit. They are slimmer than traditional 10ml bottles of e-liquid, so traditional ones won’t even fit.
Taking one out with me on a day trip or a night out has been perfect. Though I wouldn’t want to be too far from a power source to recharge the battery for anything longer than that if I was using one as my main vape. As with the amount of puffs you’ll get out of one, your mileage may vary!

Coffee Tobacco

For starters, I’m delighted to see a non-fruity option in a range of disposables! This is something I really do want to see more of, rather than the same range of fruit-based flavours being endlessly recycled!
Down to the e-liquid itself, and I get a robust, rich Tobacco flavour. This Tobacco isn’t like what you would expect to taste in a cigarette. It has more of an earthy and sweet taste to it as well as being rich and robust. It captures more of what Tobacco is actually supposed to taste like.
The Coffee flavour isn’t too overpowering or strong, and mixes well with the Tobacco, coming in at the end of the puff.
It adds another layer of richness to the e-liquid. Just don’t expect any milk with it!
I’m a big fan of Tobacco-based e-liquids pretty much ever since I began to vape and this one really did the job for me. Highly enjoyable and the first one from this range that I vaped fully from start to finish.
Strawberry Kiwi

The Strawberry is without a doubt the most dominant flavour present and there’s a good lashing of sweetness that coats my mouth after each puff. But I didn’t find that this particular flavour was overly sweet.
Definitely an enjoyable one!
Gummy Bear

One issue I have found with Gummy Bear flavoured disposables is that a lot of them are too sweet for me. Not so much here! Most importantly my wife agreed! She has more of a sweet tooth than I do. Yet even she has found some Gummy Bear disposables to be too sweet for her palate but found this one to be a very enjoyable vape.
Gummy Bear from ZAP manages to replicate the mouthfeel of having a facefull of Gummy Bears, right down to the sweet stickiness that coats your mouth afterwards. Vapers that have a sweet tooth will absolutely get on board with this flavour!

Red Fuel does a great job of capturing the taste of an energy drink, more along the lines of a cheap supermarket brand version than any of the big-name energy drink brands out there and packs an enjoyable sharpness to the aftertaste. You have got the taste of an energy drink without the high levels of caffeine, sugar and sweeteners!
One thing to note is that my wife absolutely couldn’t stand the smell of this one! She remarked that it reminded her of hangovers suffered during her university days!
Fresh Mint

I really do enjoy a minty vape and I found that this one hit the spot for me. As per the description, it’s crisp, it’s cool on my tongue and throat and it’s very refreshing too.
There’s a nice bit of sweetness with the mint flavour as well and overall it is mixed very well to deliver a flavour that just hits the spot with each puff.
Flavour wise, it is kind of similar to eating a Polo Mint!

A very authentic tasting Red Apple flavour, that captures the tartness of a Red Apple and pairs it off well with authentic tasting, sweet and juicy Watermelon. ZAP have paired the two flavours really well. I wasn’t sure that this one would work, but after trying it out I can happily say that it definitely does.
I’m not usually a fan of anything that contains Watermelon l but I actually did enjoy vaping on this flavour! This was mainly down to how tasty the Red Apple flavouring is in this!
Pineapple Ice

This one has become my favourite Pineapple Ice flavour out of any disposable that I have tried to date!

Hmm, a Watermelon and Lemon combo, hence “Waterlemon” – clever hey! It’s quite a new combo for me, I can’t actually remember ever trying a ‘Waterlemon’ flavour in the past and it’s…intriguing.
The Watermelon seems to be the more dominant flavour present, with the citrusy Lemon flavour note providing more of a subtle compliment and a tartness to pair off with the juicy sweetness of the Watermelon.
I’m still not entirely convinced that the combination of the two works but I can’t say I disliked it, it isn’t something I would rush out to buy on a regular basis. But I’m sure there are vapers out there that will!

It’s a nice combination of sweetness and richness and is pleasant enough to vape on all day long.

I do love a Lemon and Lime combination, it’s one of my favourite fruit-based pairings to go for in an e-liquid and this is up there with the best ones that I have tried.

It’s so sweet and juicy, it really made my mouth water. ZAP have done an excellent job of creating a Peach sensation giving the mouth feel you would get after biting into the fruit itself.
The authenticity of the flavour is excellent and the best that I have experienced in a disposable vape.
There’s not much in the way of cooling menthol, more of a subtle undertone. But I don’t feel that it affects the balance of this e-liquid in any way. The Peach flavour is so good I’m not going to mark it down based on the menthol not being strong enough for me!
Blue Fusion

Hmm a ‘captivating fusion of Blueberry and other exquisite flavours’…so far so good there! That definitely got me intrigued!
What I wasn’t expecting however was for the other ‘exquisite flavours’ to be an overwhelming blast of Aniseed and nothing else apart from a small hint of Blueberry that I could detect.
The Aniseed flavouring is really overpowering and it drowns out anything else that is present in the e-liquid. Great if you are a fan of Aniseed, but this one had me reaching for the Fresh Mint ZAP x Instafill to cleanse my palate and get rid of the Aniseed taste.
Not one for me I’m afraid, I can’t do Aniseed since overdoing it on the Sambuca in my early twenties – I can’t even stand the smell of the stuff these days!
Mixed Berries

It is a sweet blend, definitely one for the sweet-toothed vaper out there! Packing plenty of juicy berry flavours. It’s an enjoyable one too, with a good balance struck between the three flavours, leaving me with a tasty, juicy mouthfeel afterwards. There’s a delectable little tang to it too, that kept my palate interested and had me coming back for more.
Blue Sour Razz

Quite an intense hit of Blue Raspberry on the inhale and there’s a tart, sharp sourness that follows the initial Blue Raspberry flavour. It’s a very sweet Blue Raspberry flavour note I must say and the sour side of this is pretty sharp.
Just a little bit too sour for my palate but still an enjoyable, if occasional, vape for me!
Strawberry Watermelon Bubblegum

It’s not a flavour combination that works for me I’m afraid. Watermelon and Bubblegum are two flavours that I really just don’t get on with, I have tried my best to get past it!
I found it a bit of a strange flavour experience to be honest. An authentic tasting Strawberry and Watermelon flavour that gets followed up with an artificial Bubblegum at the end and I didn’t think it worked. Something just didn’t seem right with the balance of flavours.
That being said, I passed this one onto a friend after I had finished having a go on it and they really enjoyed it, so it’s a case of different strokes for different folks!
Mango Ice

Much like the Peach Ice flavour, ZAP have done an excellent job at recreating an authentic tasting Mango flavour. The flavour and mouthfeel is exactly what you would expect from a Mango, with a nice sweetness and tart sharpness to it.
The menthol is an undertone that comes in at the end of the vape leaving a nice, chilled feeling on the tongue. It isn’t too strong, and goes with the Mango perfectly. This flavour has been expertly blended to deliver excellent, authentic flavour.
It’s a rarity that I’ll award two flavours a 10/10 when reviewing a range, but Mango Ice is so good that I just had to, I couldn’t find a fault with it.
Pink Lemonade

Basically all the things that you would look for in a Pink Lemonade vape!
Sometimes I can find Pink Lemonade flavours a bit too sweet but I did actually enjoy having a vape on this one.
It’s well mixed, it’s inoffensive and vapers that enjoy a Pink Lemonade vape couldn’t go wrong by checking this offering from ZAP out.

- Loose batteries in a couple of the kits
- Can be easily overfilled if not careful resulting in the coil flooding and e-liquid leakage
- Very fruit heavy range, could do with some more dessert flavours
- Filling system can be finicky and takes some getting used to
- LED light indicator doesn’t indicate current battery level
Final Verdict
I could definitely recommend picking up one of the ZAP x Instafill disposable vaping kits over a disposable, especially if you are a user of disposable vapes. They are a very good step up from a disposable.
Firstly, you’ll get more for your money. One of these offers the same amount of vaping as four or five disposables would, at around half the cost. You’ve got 10ml of e-liquid here compared to 2ml in a disposable.
Plus you can refill the e-liquid bottle with your own e-liquid once it is empty, which is excellent if there is still life left in the coil.
Secondly, I’ve found that the flavours present in this range are better than most of the disposable vapes out there.
Which could be to do with the fact that these pack a 0.8ohm mesh coil, offering a bit more power than your average disposable.
Thirdly, after a short adjustment period getting used to how these kits work, these are just as convenient for taking out and about as a disposable vape is. And pretty much all of the popular disposable flavours can still be found in this range!
I really do feel that these are a step up from a disposable vape, and offer a sort of ‘in-between’ option between a disposable and a refillable pod system. They offer the convenience of a disposable vape, with the performance of a refillable pod system.
I think there’s something to build on here for the future too. If there is a version two of these kits, I’d love to see the ability to not only replace the battery and e-liquid bottle, but the ability to replace the coil too which would make each device last longer. Really cut down the waste footprint and save people money too!
An LED light that changes colour to indicate how much battery life is left would be really handy too.
One last thing, given how good the Coffee Tobacco flavour was, could we please have a few more dessert/fruit-based flavours in this range? Pretty please??
