The wonderful Tobacco Harm Reduction advocate Charles A Gardner PhD has announced his departure from INNCO.

INNCO (International Network of Nicotine Consumers Organisations) is a non-profit alliance of 32 independent volunteer led member organisations worldwide.

Charles was previously the Executive Director of INNCO. You only have to Google his name to see the amount of effort he has put in to educate on THR (Tobacco Harm Reduction) and expose misinformation.

During his time in this role he was responsible for leading the INNCO Secretariat to support members and push forward the global movement for THR.

Here is his bio prior to leaving INNCO – as you can see he has a PhD in Developmental Neurobiology. He has held many positions worldwide including as a Senior advisor for the WHO (World Health Organisation) and UNICEF.

Plus he is a former smoker turned vaper who felt the pain of losing his father to COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) which I am sure ignites his passion for THR.

Of course we should also mention his Twitter campaign which I have covered a few times in our Vape News articles – and this still remains unclaimed! It started originally at just $100 and the total has continued to grow and is now $8750!

I contacted Charles for a comment and he said…

“My decision does not reflect negatively – in any way – on the critical good work of INNCO country Members, the Governing Board or Secretariat. I leave good friends on good terms, with the utmost respect and love for the whole INNCO community. I have been honoured to contribute to the tobacco harm reduction field and will continue to do so.”

INNCO have released the following notice of his departure

“The Governing Board of INNCO wishes to notify its members and the general public of the departure of INNCO’s former Executive Director, Mr Charles A. Gardner PhD.

Charles joined INNCO in April 2021, and was responsible for leading the activities of INNCO’s secretariat to support its members and drive the global movement for tobacco harm reduction. During his tenure, Charles championed several causes within INNCO, such as promoting public knowledge about the benefits of safer nicotine, including its therapeutic benefits, and the widespread misinfodemic about vaping. Charles is a man of science and values the use of evidence to make convincing arguments in favour of harm reduction.

The Governing Board of INNCO thank him for his service, both to INNCO and the furtherance of global tobacco harm reduction and wish him well in his future ventures.

INNCO will continue to move forward in supporting its member organisations, using our power of communication and collaboration to further global efforts towards the adoption of rights- based, risk-relative and balanced harm reduction strategies as a legitimate human right.”

I would like to wish Charles all the best of luck for future projects and to thank him wholeheartedly for all the great work he has done as an excellent Tobacco Harm Reduction advocate.

If you are on Twitter and want to keep up to date on the facts related to THR I suggest you give him a follow on https://twitter.com/ChaunceyGardner.

My name is Michelle - I am 48 and an engineer and Technical Author by trade. I started vaping many years ago in the days of Tornado tanks, Ego batteries and Variable Voltage. My journey in vaping began again around 2016 and have been interested in the topic ever since. I finally stopped smoking as of June 2019 and that is all thanks to vaping! 20mg Nicotine Salts are my hero! Oh and I am partial to a nice pod mod and Bubblegum e-liquid! I have enjoyed writing for Ecigclick since 2017 and love being part of this great team! My passion for Tobacco Harm Reduction has also led me to becoming a Trustee for the NNA (New Nicotine Alliance) aiding in Advocacy
