In for review today is a new Tropix range from Doozy Vape Co, and these bring an unusual selection of fruits in a nicotine salt form.
With Black Friday almost upon us, I find it’s usually an excellent time to stock up on some e-liquid.
What Can We Expect From Doozy Vape Co Tropix Vape Juice?
Doozy Vape company has been around since 2014, and is a family business based in Yorkshire.
Their core ranges are Fruit, Cooling and Desert, but they have since expanded out to offer Salts, Sweet Treats and Juice Junki, as well a tobacco line called Baccy Roots.
The Tropix range they’ve recently launch is definitely falling under the fruit lineup, and they’ve used some unusual fruits! We’ve got cucamelon, huckleberry, mangosteen and maracuya in this line up, blended with some more traditional fruit flavours.
If those fruits don’t mean anything to you, I’ve looked them all up so hopefully I can give you a better idea of what to expect.
The e-liquids were all sent out to me in TPD friendly 10ml bottles with 10mg of Nicotine Salt.
More Info On Nic Salts
Nic Salts are typically used in mouth to lung style devices at lower wattage. You can read about the different styles of vaping here.
Nicotine Salt is a bit different to standard freebase nicotine, and if you want to read up on it in more detail Michelle put together a fantastic guide here.
The biggest differences in using nicotine salts is that they are absorbed more quickly (good for satisfying that craving!) and they are less harsh at higher nicotine levels.
These were sent over to me for the purpose of review from Doozy Vape Co. (thank you) as usual, this in no way impacts my score, and I shall report back honestly with what I find.
Doozy Vape Co Tropix – Fiji – 50/50 VG PG
A Mesmerising combination of Crisp Fuji Apple and Sweet Cucamelon with a Touch of Cucumber.
Perfection in a bottle, each fruit layered in the most divine way to deliver a fresh and fruity Tropical Wave.
You won’t have tasted anything quite like this before…Enjoy!
I had no idea what a cucamelon was, turns out that it’s not actually a melon.
Instead it’s a vine who’s fruits taste a bit like a sour cucumber, it’s also called a “Mexican sour gherkin”, which sounds less appealing!
Though in Mexico where it comes from, it is known as a “little watermelon“.
Smelling it and you can definitely smell cucumbers (or cucamelons) and apples. It’s a very fresh smell.
The taste is actually really hard to pin down, there’s definitely apple at the front on the inhale. Sharp, almost sour to begin with.
Exhaling and you get a lovely refreshing wave of cucumber. The best way I can describe it is taking a big bite of a crispy green apple, and immediately washing it down with a glass of chilled cucumber water.
It’s quite a subtle flavour, but very tasty and refreshing!
Doozy Vape Co – Hawaii – 50/50 VG PG
A Tantalising mix of Juicy Huckleberries and Blue Raspberry with a hint of Glacier Aniseed.
A fresh fruity taste with a nicely balanced Cool aftertaste.
This Berry unique concoction will have your taste buds tingling with delight.
As before, they’ve used a fruit I had to look up! A huckleberry is a small berry, quite similar to a tart blueberry. It originates in America, and is the state fruit of Idaho.
Taking the cap off, the first smell to hit you is the aniseed. Although there’s a hint of berries, it’s mostly aniseed that I get.
Vaping it is pretty consistent through both the inhale and the exhale. You’ve got a sour blueberry taste dominating, but there’s also the sweetness of blue raspberry taking the edge off a little.
However if you don’t like aniseed, you probably won’t be convinced by this one. It’s a cooling aniseed, but it’s there as a background to the whole vape.
It’s a perfectly nice flavour, but there’s just not much that makes it stand out.
Doozy Vape Co – Malibu – 50/50 VG PG
A Mouth-Watering mix of Tangerine and Grenadine with a Twist of Banana topped with Crushed Ice.
Amazingly tasty yet Mysteriously complex blend turns this into a truly Exotic experience not to be missed.
Discover Malibu…the taste of Paradise.
No fruit Googling on this one! Grenadine is a red syrup that is often used in cocktails, it was originally made with pomegranates, but a lot of grenadine now is made from blackcurrants.
The smell reminds me a bit of Calpol, very sickly and sticky smelling.
This is probably the strangest vape of the lot, and I’m not entirely convinced that it works.
You’ve got the rich red fruit taste of grenadine on your tongue from the beginning, but also an orangey taste from the tangerine.
Exhaling and there’s quite a lot of cooling coming through, more so than any of the others. Although I generally really like a cooling vape, I think in this one it’s mostly there so that the grenadine doesn’t absolutely dominate the flavour profile.
Finally there’s banana, more on the aftertaste than anything else, and it’s an interesting note to end on after such a juicy start to the vape.
So technically it manages to show off all it’s flavour notes well, I’m just not sure they really go together!
Doozy Vape Co – Rio – 50/50 VG PG
An Exotic Fusion of Juicy Mangosteen and Slices of Guava with a splash of Icy Citrus.
Words to describe this Sublime flavour…Fantastic, Delicious, Amazing.
One thing is for sure, this Magical Medley will take your breath away!
I’m starting to feel like Doozy are getting some sort of kickback from Google from everyone looking up different fruits!
Mangosteen is at least a fruit I have heard of this time, even if I had to double check what it looked like.
It comes from Southeast Asia and Thailand where it is often called the “Queen of Fruit”, and has a juicy tangy white flesh, underneath an inedible purple-ish rind.
The smell from this one is very fruity, lots of rich tropical fruit smell.
This is a truly a luscious vape!
On the inhale, you’re getting rich juicy fruit flavours. I can’t really liken it to any fruit other than a mangosteen, so if you’ve never tasted on it’s hard to describe!
There’s a delicacy to it like a lychee, but also the succulence of a juicy melon or mango.
Exhaling brings some cooling citrus flavours out, so you don’t feel totally overwhelmed by the richness of the vape.
Really decadent and delicious!
Doozy Vape Co – Tahiti – 10mg 50/50 VG PG
A Tangy blend of Maracuya and Ruby Grapefruit with a Refreshingly Sharp Citrus Fizz.
A Fruitilicious Mix drenched in Green Lemon juice makes this a Showstopper of a Flavour with a Twist.
It really is something Special.
You know by now what I’m going to start with!
I’ve looked up Maracuya, and it is actually the Spanish word for Passion Fruit. I kind of feel like Doozy are just trolling me now…
Anyway! Moving straight on to the smell from this one, and there’s a strong passion fruit aroma from it, but it’s cut through with the higher notes of the citrus.
The inhale has loads of passion fruit, very rich, and another quite decadent vape.
On the exhale the citrus gives just the right amount of fizz to lift the taste from becoming too cloying or sickly. It’s almost like it’s had a citrus sherbet sprinkled through it.
Puts me in mind of a pornstar martini! Mmm…
Final Review Verdict
It’s a really hard set of flavours to review, as I’ve not consciously tried many of the fruits that they are based off.
However the mixology is really impressive throughout, and even though I didn’t particularly like the Malibu, I can still appreciate what they were going for.
They seem really good at balancing out a strong dominant fruit flavour, with a secondary fruit flavour that lifts the vape to another level.
Fiji was definitely one of the most refreshing vapes I’ve had in a while, whilst Rio and Tahiti were both tropical indulgence!
Even better is the fact that Doozy Vape Co. make them in both Nic salt, and short fill varieties, so if you like the sound of some of the flavours but want to blow some big clouds from a sub ohm kit, there’s options available!
The nic salts that I tested were all lovely smooth vapes, with absolutely none of the harshness I would expect from normal freebase nicotine at that level.
If you like fruit flavours, but want to try something a little different, then I can definitely recommend them.
