The Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA review and another collaboration with Billy aka Heathen who appears to be taking a long sabbatical from YouTube vape reviewing.

SE stands for special edition and the special bit here is the addition of x4 different coloured plastic top caps – more on those in a moment.

hell vape dead rabbit se rda review clear version

Having reviewed all of the Dead Rabbit RDAs and been a regular user of the SQ squonk version, I’ve rated the range extremely highly.

What Can We Expect From the Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA?

For a start and given this is the V2 deck – I’m expecting a very easy build and wick.

The fact the plastic caps don’t have any airflow will be interesting.

Dead Rabbit SE Kit colours

All that air going in may cause the flavour to dip – we shall see.

OK, this was sent to me free of charge for the purpose of this review from Heaven Gifts – thank you – and as always my thoughts and opinions aren’t swayed by freebies.

So…am I a happy vaping bunny or has the SE given me a vaping Watership downer? [old joke but I try]

Inside the Box

I didn’t receive the Dead Rabbit SE kit which as you can see above, includes x4 different colours.

Instead I got the single version [me miffed naw lol] and inside you’ll find:

  • 1x Dead Rabbit V2 RDA Deck
  • 1x Gold Bottom Feed Pin
  • 1x User Manual
  • 1x Accessories Bag

Note: there’s no coils or cotton included – which feels a bit stingy to say the least…

kit contents

Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA Specs and Features

  • Diameter: 24mm
  • Thread: 510 regular pin/BF pin
  • Deck: Dual coil deck
  • Material: PCTG
  • Single or dual coil configurations
  • Including standard positive pin and BF squonk 510 pin

Key Features

As you can see this is a 24mm dripper that can also be used in squonk mode.

The basic kit I received includes just one cap – the clear one made from PCTG or food grade plastic.

hell vape dead rabbit se rda deck

The deck will be very familiar to fans of the Dead Rabbit series of rebuildables – the RTA and the SQ I used for a very long time for squonking.

In fact, the Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA deck is pretty much identical to the Hellvape Dead Rabbit V2 RDA – though I read somewhere the juice well is slightly deeper.

You may remember one of the big changes to the newer version was the kind of sloped bunny ear posts – making it even easier to pop in your coils and snip them just right.

Apart from that, and unless you buy the kit that includes blue red and black caps – as well as the clear – that’s really about it.

Oh yeah, you can use either dual or single coil – I just used dual 🙂

Design and Build Quality

It is what it is if I’m being honest.

The Dead Rabbit V2 RDA deck with a touch deeper juice well and with the full kit a choice of coloured plastic caps.

The deck is nicely designed and ideal for brand new builders – if I can do it then anyone can 🙂

hell vape dead rabbit se rda coiled and wicked

I’m sure Mike Forber aka MF Vape is taking a look at the build I popped in this one…he quite rightly pointed out on the EcigClick FaceBook page – that it really was about time I learned to build – can’t argue with that mate lol.

Not much more to say really – apart from this new plastic top cap.

Yes there’s x3 other colours to choose from, but also there’s no airflow control.

coil placement

Instead the cap fits onto the deck bang in line with where your coils should be.

Taking a critical look at my build they could do with being raised a smidgen maybe – but as you’ll see I’m happy with it.

How Does the Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA Perform?

As I’ve already mentioned the Dead Rabbit RDAs and RTA are dead simple to build on making them ideal for newbies.

Given there’s no coils with the kit, I opted for a pair of generic China website bought fused claptons ohming out at 0.16ohms – and wicked with Cotton Bacon. An old man of simple [cheap] tastes you might say – no fancy Dan coils here 🙂

cloud chucker
proper cloud chucker!

On the awesome Coily Tool I cut them at 5mm – that gave me a decent enough fit once I’d pushed and pulled them up and down a bit 🙂

Juiced up with the too sexy to be true SuperGood Cosmopolitan cocktail flavour, I began at a steady 77w.

on top of the SQ Mono DNA 75c

And as I was expecting – good flavour with incredible clouds. I’m ‘guessing‘ the huge amount of airflow has created a slight flavour dip…

Bumped up to 100w and things got even more intense vapour wise, with enough clouds to form a micro climate wherever you’re vaping.

dripping

As you might expect with quite large airflow ports, the vape remained the cooler side of warm right up to 120w.

It is a VERY airy vape though – on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being windier than a bunch of cowboys eating beans around a campfire – this is right up there in the high 9s.

hell vape dead rabbit se rda 510 pin
just about OK for hybrid mech mods

I popped the squonk pin in and to be honest it was just as good – no real innovation in the squonk feed – it does its job as simple as that.

Pros

  • Full kit gets a choice of coloured caps
  • Dead simple build and wick deck
  • Deep juice well
  • Great flavour
  • Incredible clouds
  • Single or dual coil
  • Cheap!

Cons

  • Only real difference to the V2 is the coloured plastic caps
  • Is it a cash grab? I’ll mention more in a mo’

Final Review Verdict

As you can probably see from the length of this review – not a lot going on here if I’m brutally honest.

Do you need the Hellvape Dead Rabbit SE RDA if you own the others – especially the V2?

Not really, apart I guess from having the bragging rights to owning a Special Edition version.

And I guess if you need to matchy match your dripper with your mod…

Is It A Cash Grab?

So is it a cash grab?

Yes – I really do think it is.

I’m pretty sure Heathen aka Billy – has made a few quid off this extremely popular series – and fancied a bit more.

If you love the Dead Rabbit series by all means buy one, and this RDA/squonker is nigh on perfect for new vapers.

Can’t knock the good flavour or clouds – just think it really is a bit of a piss take no matter how cheap it is.

Soooo…

Are you a massive Dead Rabbit fanboy or girl?

Do you think this is a fantastic release the world of vaping needs and has been waiting for?

Or as per usual – do you think I’m talking out of my opinionated ample arse?

Let me know in the comments below 🙂

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.

hellvape-dead-rabbit-se-rda-reviewQuite high scores despite my moaning! It is very airy - an easy build deck and a choice of pretty colours - buy it by all means but if you have the V2 version stick with that as there's no real difference apart from lack of airflow...

  1. Ngl they had me at coloured caps and a nice deck but that said i am a mech head and partial to the vgod rdas (which are Kennedy clones really) so this had me from the get go.
I agree though total cash grab.

  2. Watched MF’s video of this one too, Neil. Crying shame there’s no adjustable airflow. Not being one to vape above 80W I’m not likely to get the flavour I get with Heathens rta.
So. Between your “enthused” written and Mikey boys vid I think I’ll give it a miss.

    • I didn’t watch Mike’s vid – but will catch up with it soon…so I’m not sure if he praised it like most reviewers seem to have done 🙂 It really is just the V2 deck with x4 cheap plastic coloured caps added in a bigger box [not that I got that version] that have fixed airflow…sure the fanboys and girls will lap it up and maybe vapers who’ve not used a Dead Rabbit RDA may buy one – but they won’t be getting the same experience which is a crying shame…
