I hold in my hand the brand new Horizontech Binaries 6K disposable vape.

Please note: This product is not available in the UK as it does not meet TPD regulations. So only available for readers outside TPD regulated countries.

Horizon Binaries 6K disposable vape checkI was quite shocked to learn these disposables were manufactured by Horizontech (also known as Horizon). Although I don’t think they’re the most prolific when it comes to knocking out new vape kits, they still wooed me back in the day with the Horizon Falcon kit.

The Aquila sub ohm tank also seemed to go down well with our very own Kevin Jeffrey.

Horizon (as they’re more commonly known) have also dabbled in the pod kit market with the likes of the Durandal kit and Asteroid MTL mesh pod kit.

With years of R&D, production and marketing, Horizon ‘Allow the market to guide the product and development through science and technology’.

.. I kind of like that ideology personally and it vaguely hints at keeping up with the Jones’ of the vaping industry.

To do this they’ve focused in on the ever trending disposable vape arena.

Which leads us nicely to our own focus of attention. The Binaries 6K disposable vapes.

What Can We Expect From the Binaries 6K Disposable Vapes?

A lot of vaping and quite a few recharges of the integrated 650mAh battery!

As the name suggests, 6,000 puffs are supported by a massive 15ml of E-liquid. That’s going to take quite some time and patience to test and I only hope the 1.0ohm mesh coil can keep up for the duration.

.. We’ll see.

Design & Build Quality

So the Binaries 6K disposable vape takes the form of a pseudo AIO pod kit. It carries a box shaped design and the ABS plastic mouthpiece is moulded into the top.

The opening measures around 5mm and doesn’t taper. This leads me to believe restrictive lung vaping may well be a possibility with airflow set wide open.

Binaries 6K disposable vape hand check imageOne side of the 2″ wide disposable has some nice contouring, making it comfortable to hold with my fat fingers. The ABS plastic has a glossy finish which does however tend to leave finger prints.

A type C USB charging port is integrated into the underside of the device so no vertical charging. By the way, a charging cable is not included.

Functionality

The Binaries 6K is a disposable of two parts. The airlock chamber and the atomisation core.

The rotary dial on the side serves as an inlet for air to travel down into the airlock chamber. It then hits the atomisation core (Mesh coil) from beneath and passes up though the mouthpiece.

All this occurs while auto inhaling – there’s no fire button.

Rotary dial in MTL position

Not only is a flavoursome vape expected but ‘spit back’ or leakage into the mouth should be entirely eradicated.

Because the airflow dial has 45 degrees of adjustability we should expect either a MTL (mouth to lung) or RDL (restricted direct lung) vape. We tell you what these terms mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.

Binaries disposable airflow and airlock 2 part system

As previously mentioned the Binaries disposable is only available in 50mg salt nicotine strength. It’s not TPD compliant.

Horizon have also released the Binaries Cabin, capable of 10K puffs. It can be picked up in 20mg, 30mg or 50mg strengths.

Yet someone at Horizon seems to think 50mg is the strength of choice among vapers. It is what it is, I guess.

Anyway I do like the choice of flavours on offer. Some look genuinely different from the run of the mill in terms of disposables.

There’s a whacking 25 to choose from including Pineapple Upside Down cake, Blue Razz Lemon Muffin and Strawberry Peach Yoghurt.

Right!

It’s time to see what the Binaries 6K disposable vapes are capable of. What’s the flavour like? Do we get decent vapour production? How many times can we expect to charge it? Will the coil hold out for 6,000 puffs? Will it even provide 6,000 puffs?

I’m about to answer all those questions.

I wasn’t able to find any flavour descriptions for the ones tested so I’m going in blindfolded. Remember taste is subjective so please use my thoughts as a rough guide as to what to expect.

Binaries 6K – Blueberry Baked Donuts

Binaries 6K Blueberry Baked DonutsI Say:

Horizon aren’t going to like me.

This is one of the worst E-liquid flavours I’ve tried in nine years of vaping. There’s nothing wrong with how the sweetness is balanced out and it does play a major part towards the end of the exhale. It leaves a mark on the taste buds.

However, it looks like they’ve tried to combine Blueberry with a rather poor take on Donuts. I can’t detect anything that’s baked and maybe shouldn’t given the higher resistance, low powered coil.

What I’m left with is a very nauseating exhale that reminds me of something totally unprintable here!

It’s also one of the strangest versions of Blueberry I’ve ever come across, totally reliant on sweetness over content.

Unfortunately the only reason it manages a score line at all is because there’s no Menthol and the vapour quality is sound.

Binaries 6K – Butterscotch

Binaries 6K ButterscotchI Say:

Horizon are going to like me.

Bang on! This has to be the best take on a Butterscotch vape I’ve ever tried! It’s extremely pleasant and carries a highly authentic taste of Brown Sugar throughout.

Butterscotch is made even more pleasant by the ‘lingerability’ factor. It plays with the taste buds and palate long after finishing the vape.

The Butter is incredibly well replicated. It has that smooth, creaminess with just a hint of caramel running in the back ground.

Nothing is really given away on the inhale but during the exhale I’m definitely reminded of boiled Butterscotch sweets.

I think it demonstrates what’s possible when Menthol is left on the E-liquid mixing floor.

This one has definitely stimulates my taste buds!

If you’ve the slightest bent towards Butterscotch vapes I would urge you to give it a look. I was amazed by how good it was.

Binaries 6K – Fruity Portuguese Custard Tarts

Binaries 6K Portuguese Custard TartsI Say:

Wow! How has Horizon managed that! A fully fledged bakery vape from a disposable.

Again, the absence of Menthol is a contributing factor. The flavour notes are given the freedom to emerge during exhale.

The creamy Custard contains just the right amount of dairy goodness and the pastry notes filter through to the nasal cavities in a very effective way.

The sweeter elements of the vape dance subtly through the exhale but are never sickly because the Custard and puff pastry steal the scene with every vape.

I think the creaminess of that Custard is the highlight, though.

.. All this without the usual warmth required to replicate such flavours.

Rarely does a disposable vape produce such eloquent flavour notes.

Battery Performance and Number of Puffs

I’m afraid this is going to be ongoing! But then I’ve other flavours to test anyway so do check back for updates.

So the factory charge gave me a total of 13 hours continuous use. Not bad at all given the battery capacity.

The Blue LED on the base flashes 10 times when it’s time for a recharge. It took 80 minutes for the solid Blue LED to switch off under type C USB charging. Not quite as fast as I was expecting.

The battery then performed for a humungous 16 hours. Again that’s impressive since I have a habit of chain vaping.

So far I’ve racked up approximately 2,100 puffs. Flavour and vapour quality is still impressive.

UPDATE: Sorry for the delay. I’ve only just finished.. Finally!

I’ve used the binaries for a further six days. After another two full charges I’ve racked up 3,500 puffs. The flavour had degraded to the point where the cotton had dried and a burnt taste was being experienced.

That means a grand total of around 5,600 puffs. As far as I’m concerned that’s near as damn it – especially taking into account quite a few longer restrictive lung hits.

Final Review Verdict

We don’t usually find a side airflow arrangement on disposable vapes. They’re usually fixed slots on the base or adjustable from beneath. So does the Binaries rotary dial make a difference?

It certainly doesn’t hamper flavour quality. Neither does it stifle vapour production. I would say that the ones I tested took a more subtle approach to flavour.

They also had a cleaner taste than many disposables on the market. And full marks to Horizon for keeping sweetness balanced and blended.

The rotary dial also works quite well. Turn it clockwise for a decent MTL vape and fully counter clockwise for a very restrictive lung hit. Mid position pretty much gives you the best of both worlds.

What’s important to remember is that flavour quality takes a rapid dive as the battery depletes. That’s quite understandable given the volume of E-liquid contained inside.

So expect some flavour degradation towards the last half hour of use between charges.

horizontech-binaries-6k-disposable-vapes-reviewThe Binaries 6K disposable vape is a solid, reliable little device. The battery performance is excellent. You can easily expect a full days use between charging even if you're a chain vaper. The rotary side airflow structure is effective and I enjoyed many a restrictive lung hit. MTL users need not feel left out, either! The flavours aren't as intense as other disposables on the market and do actually taste cleaner. Vapour production is consistent throughout everyday use.
