Today I’m taking a gander at the new Imp Jar 50/50 short fill E-liquid range.

Imp Jar 5050 e-liquid range

There’s not a great deal I can tell you about Imp Jar as an E-liquid manufacturer right now.

Originating in Margate, Kent in the UK it appears they’ve only been on the scene for a few months. I can find no direct reference to them online and it also looks like any social media platforms are unregistered at the time of writing.

It seems at some point in the past their director was associated with the CBD side of things but that’s about it, folks..

So what we have with the Imp Jar E-liquid range is pretty much what we’ve seen before. By that I refer to our very own Bar Juice 5000 review. We’re essentially looking at the experience of a disposable vape in a bottle.

The Imp Jar range does afford us further versatility over Bar juice in that we’re not confined to predetermined salt nicotine strength ratios.

The bottle sizes are much larger too so without further ado, let’s take a closer look.

What Can We Expect From the Imp Jar 50/50 Short Fill Range?

We get 50ml of 0mg E-liquid in a 60ml Chubby Gorilla bottle. This means space for any nicotine shot of choice. For example, add one 10ml 18mg freebase nicotine shot for a 3mg overall strength.

I like that the information has been included on the bottle label.

Nic application instructions on side of Imp Jar bottleI also like how the full list of available flavours have been printed too. There are a total of 20 to pick from and these fall into the fruits, ice, drinks, sweets, tobacco and mint categories. So there’s pretty much something to suit all vaping tastes.

List of flavours on the bottle of the Imp Jar 50ml E-liquid

On the subject of the label, Imp Jar (just like Bar Juice) have adopted a simple, linear logo that very much resembles Elf Bar’s. Not exactly original but possibly a nod to the popular disposable vape manufacturer.

Imp Jar Logo on side of bottleThe range is available as a 50VG/50PG juice ratio. That’s for good reason. They’re designed for use in starter kits and lower powered pod set ups. These are the devices that emulate the power output from a disposable vape.

The Imp Jar short fill E-liquid range goes all out to emulate the experiences of a disposable vape. Both in terms of flavour intensity and vapour production.

For this reason I do recommend using a nic shot that matches the juice ratio already in the bottle – that’s to say 50VG/50PG for best performance in a low powered device.

I can only assume the 15,000 figure refers to the total number of puffs a 0mg 50ml bottle will produce. Before (or after) the addition of a 10ml nicotine shot.

Specifications

  • 50ml short fill E-liquid

Massive thanks to Vapeclub for sending these over for the purposes of review. It’s very much appreciated.

Ok, let’s see how they are for flavour and vapour production. Remember that taste is subjective so please use my thoughts as a guide rather than what you, yourself may experience.

I might have short sight, you might have long sight. You get the picture.

The scores are a reflection of how I ‘see’ these flavours.

To test the range I used the Smoant Knight 40 pod kit with a 1.2ohm MTL S3 coil running at 12W.

Banana Ice

Imp Jar Banana IceImp Jar Says:

Banana Ice recreates the rich, cream taste of Bananas and pairs it with an ice menthol that adds a frosty aftertaste.

I Say:

Menthol hits hard on the inhale and really chills the back of the throat in the process. It then becomes a mainstay to the rest of the vaping experience.

It’s a very smooth inhale with the addition of 3mg freebase nicotine and the sweetness builds slowly. It has a realistic level on the exhale and doesn’t spoil the overall flavour quality.

On the subject of flavour, don’t expect any realism from this version of Banana. It’s highly artificial, the usual foam candy sweet variety found in many a vape juice – not just disposables.

So although it doesn’t appeal to me it will have its place among new, less discerning vapers looking to simply stave off those nicotine cravings.

The balance of sweetness, Menthol and flavour is quite good too.

Blueberry

Imp Jar BlueberryImp Jar Says:

Blueberry is a bold one-note flavour that captures the distinct tart flavour of ripe Blueberries. Blends like this are the ideal option if you’re looking to keep things simple.

I Say:

We’re certainly keeping things simple with this single fruit profile. But there’s nothing tart about the Blueberry and neither do I think it has any ripe characteristics.

Put simply, it’s the worst version of Blueberry I’ve come across. That’s no reflection on Imp Jar – I’ve tasted it many times before. It just doesn’t get any better, unfortunately.

It bears no resemblance to the fruit it attempts to replicate and always reminds me of warm hairspray. I know! Odd thing to say but that’s the easiest way of describing it.

So taste goes out the window with this one for me and that’s a bit of a shame. The sweetness that seeps through during the exhale does its best to give something back but that synthetic taste dominates everything.

Even disposable vapes do a better job at reproducing Blueberry.

Cotton Candy Ice

Imp Jar Cotton Candy IceImp Jar Says:

Cotton Candy Ice is a classic candy complemented with a frosty finish. Sugary notes of Cotton Candy mingle with a layer of ice menthol in this sweet, fresh-tasting vape.

I Say:

This is a pleasant vape. There’s a stark contrast between the Strawberry and the Menthol on first impressions and it actually works.

The sweetness of the Strawberry increases the tastiness of the vape and really does stimulate those taste buds. You get the same experience of sugars dissolving in the mouth as you would from candy floss.

Again the fruit isn’t the most natural tasting leaning more towards artificial food flavouring than anything else but it gets the job done.

The Menthol content is quite strong and maybe does outstay its welcome post vape but plays its part with keeping the experience fresh.

Double Apple

Imp Jar Double AppleImp Jar Says:

Double Apple combines notes of red and green Apples together to create a crisp-tasting vape. The sour notes of the green variety are balanced by the sweet red Apples.

I Say:

This one is intense! Intense with its use of Menthol and intense with the Apple content. An icy cold blast will instantly clutch the throat on the inhale and the effects will still be felt long after that final exhale.

An abundance of sweetness enters the vape early doors to eventually settle on the taste buds and the lips. Sugar lips? You’ve got ’em..

It works to great effect because it brings out the juicier, acidic qualities of this polished green Apple. I’d suggest it’s the Granny Smith variety – the one most commonly used in generic vapes.

But it’s not too synthetic or artificial tasting either. It’s got the crisp and bite of the real thing as well as the mouth watering properties.

However, it’s no good asking me to differentiate between a green and red Apple. My taste buds are never that susceptible. Double Apple to me simply means a more intense flavour.

That’s what you’re getting here.

Energy Ice

Imp Jar Energy IceImp Jar Says:

NRG Ice balances a sweet soda with a fresh-tasting finish. The instantly recognisable notes of an energy drink are paired with the flavour of arctic-ice menthol.

I Say:

I expected more aroma from the tip of the bottle when sniffing this one. Yet that flavour on the exhale!

It’s pretty obvious what we’re going to experience and we get it in good measure too.

There’s no denying it – Red Bull bottled for the purposes of vaping. The chilling Menthol is in overdrive with this beverage inspired e-juice but at the heart of NRG Ice’s effectiveness.

The characteristic flavour subtleties of this energy drink are in abundance with each and every exhale. It consistently delivers what many would class the ultimate Summer time vape alongside tropical fruits.

And there is that element of soda thrown in, made more impactful through the lower levels of sweetness applied.

So no sugar lips on this occasion but the flavour quality more than makes up for that.

Watermelon Ice

Imp Jar Watermelon IceImp Jar Says:

Watermelon Ice combines the authentic flavour of summery fruit with a layer of chilled ice. The juicy taste of Watermelon is fused with a sweet and cool menthol.

I Say:

Very impressive indeed. The Watermelon content is right up my vape street. This isn’t the version I was expecting and to be honest isn’t the one I’d commonly associate with a disposable.

There’s much less of the chemical, sweet laden properties in Watermelon Ice.

In fact I personally think there’s a few crafty back notes of honeydew thrown into the pot. It’s bright, lively and very mouth watering. A thirst quencher if ever there was.

There’s even the muskiness I associate with the real thing. Yes. I’m impressed as you can probably tell. Sweeter elements appear towards the end of the exhale and play with the taste buds in an appealing way.

In this case, the authenticity of the fruit outweighs the Menthol content. You can still expect that arctic blast to the tonsils but Watermelon and Menthol always works as a team, in my opinion.

Fantastic work!

Sweet Menthol

Imp Jar Sweet MentholImp Jar Says:

Sweet Menthol provides a blend of menthol and mint flavours that is a top-seller. Adult menthol vapers will enjoy this mix of sweet mint and menthol flavourings.

I Say:

Very nice. Very nice indeed.

There’s a fantastic balance between the cooling Menthol and the mint. I’d suggest this is spearmint with just a dash of Peppermint for good measure.

Menthol back builds during the inhale and becomes more intense the longer it’s drawn on.

I like that. It means there’s a way of controlling the intensity. Ideal for any mouth to lung vaper.

There’s more than adequate sweetness thrown into the vape pot but is not excessive. It never outstays its welcome.

The mint holds up well throughout exhale and leaves a refreshing taste on the palate afterwards.

Menthol provides that vital kick by way of accompaniment so overall Sweet Menthol is an ideal alternative for anyone still craving those menthol cigarettes.

It’s proving to be an effective palate cleanser too.

Cream Tobacco

Imp Jar Cream TobaccoImp Jar Says:

Showcases soft vanilla undertones blended together with smoky tobacco flavours for a slightly sweet and earthy vape.

I Say:

More of a pleasant vape than I was expecting. That’s because this E-liquid has that distinct oily, over concentrated aroma usually attached to cheap, synthetic generic fodder.

So the exhale was something of a surprise.

Cream Tobacco is as much about the Vanilla content as it is the Tobacco. In fact it does much to soften the vape creating a very smooth taste sensation.

The musky, earthy tones of the Tobacco are much less intense than usual yet the smoky qualities remain intact.

The majority of the vape is about the Vanilla. It’s not particularly creamy if I’m honest but certainly boosts flavour properties.

It’s towards the end of the exhale and afterwards that the smoky qualities emerge.

I’ve tasted much worse Tobacco vapes than this so Imp Jar deserve a few brownie points.

Pineapple Peach Mango

Imp Jar Pineapple Peach MangoImp Jar Says:

Pineapple Peach Mango is a sweet, fragrant peach and juicy ripe-tasting mango.

I Say:

Wow! This one really does deliver the vape goods.

As much as Imp Jar are doing a fine job replicating the flavour experiences of a disposable vape, this one is superior in every way.

Why do I say this? Because I’ve yet to vape a disposable that successfully delivers three different flavours. In a way that makes them distinguishable from one another.

The Peach and Pineapple meld very well together and compliment each other with their tangy sweetness.

The inhale is velvet smooth while the exhale is a veritable explosion of tropical fruits.

Even the Mango translates well, sometimes at the fore of the vape, sometimes further back.

This is an interesting and refreshing vape. One I would thoroughly recommend as a thirst quencher during those long Summer months.

Cherry Cola

Imp Jar Cherry ColaImp Jar Says:

An iconic bubbly fruit drink flavour, offering the familiar richness of Cola and sweetness of freshly picked Cherries.

I Say:

The Cola content is there but the Cherry doesn’t seem to work that well alongside it.

It alters the traditional taste associated with Cherry Cola and in a way that’s hard to describe. The flavour comes across as synthetic instead of mouth watering and there’s a distinct absence of fizz.

Yes, I would have to suggest Cherry Cola to be an artificial tasting vape. It’s an odd taste and the Koolada merely amplifies the strange exhale.

I think Cinnamon is missing and there’s less of the vanilla – that’s muted by a Cherry that constantly struggles to evolve on the exhale.

As a result, Cherry Cola reminds me more of disinfectant than the popular beverage we all know and love.

Not one I’ll be coming back to in a hurry I’m afraid.

Triple Berry Ice

Imp Jar Triple Berry IceImp Jar Says:

Triple Berry Ice mixes blueberry, raspberry and strawberry flavours into one fantastic berry vape. Triple Berry Ice also adds in a hint of icy mint for a cooling exhale.

I Say:

This one is another flavour banger but it’s let down two fold. Firstly, the Koolada is too intense for my liking. It doesn’t take long to start stinging the throat and the tongue.

Secondly, the trio of Berries form to create a flavour experience of their own. It’s not one I’m particularly fond of, because everything seems to just meld together as a collective.

Another way of explaining it is like having Strawberry on top of Raspberry on top of Blueberry. All three released together in one exhale.

I can’t separate the fruits. There’s actually less sweetness than I’d like and the whole taste experience is borderline synthetic.

If I were pushed into a corner I’d say that Raspberry is the most noticeable out of the three.

Not the best of layering with Triple Berry Ice, I’m afraid.

Strawberry Raspberry Cherry Ice

Imp Jar Strawberry Raspberry Cherry IceImp Jar Says:

A medley of sweet and tart berries, juicy summer strawberries are complimented by the sweet and sour tang of raspberries and rich dark cherries, all rounded off with a refreshing blast of ice.

I Say:

Those dark Cherries initially steal the show and it takes a few vapes for this E-liquid to really develop.

But develop it does and before long the Raspberries emerge in all their chalky sweetness.

Yes, we’re not treated to any of the natural juiciness this fruit affords and it also has trouble mixing with the Cherry or Strawberry.

It feels like there’s a dilution of the trio. A dilution that prevents the flavour explosion I was expecting.

The sweetness is there but those Strawberries are over shadowed by a dominant Cherry.

So I’m left tasting Cherry alongside a broader but much weaker Raspberry and Strawberry combo.

I do feel let down by this one given how well Imp Jar put Pineapple Peach Mango together.

Pineapple Ice

Imp Jar Pineapple IceImp Jar Says:

A classic recreation of sweet Pineapple blended with a layer of ice.

I Say:

This one’s destined to appeal to all lovers of exotic, tropical fruits.

The Pineapple is sumptuous in this E-liquid. That’s no exaggeration and one of the reasons I say this is because it’s unburdened by any additional flavours.

It has free reign to be fully appreciated and the tangy sweetness it exudes is fantastic, in my opinion.

The tanginess of the vape gets caught up during inhale, followed by a sprinkling of sweetness and then a succulent Pineapple develops on the way out.

The icy content isn’t too intense either, working in perfect harmony with the fruit.

An awesome thirst quencher of a vape.

Cherry

Imp Jar CherryImp Jar Says:

Cherry captures the sweet and sour taste of ripe cherries, a delightful taste of rich dark cherries throughout.

I Say:

A very pleasant tasting Cherry.

It’s the no thrills type that’s often found in more generic based E-liquids. The inhale is smooth and the Koolada creates a soothing chill to the throat.

Depending on the device you’re using (and the power) it may also stick to the lining of the tongue. I’m not quite as keen on that effect but others will no doubt enjoy it.

The fruit, although one dimensional is a stayer so expect plenty of flavour throughout exhale.

Sweetness levels are pitched just right but there’s not much in the way of sourness.

If you’re looking for a simple, single layered flavour and Cherry sounds appealing give this one a look.

Final Review Verdict

Not bad. Not bad at all.

The one thing that stands out the most is the way the sweetness has been finely balanced against the flavours on offer.

If there’s one gripe I have with disposables, it’s that. But then since the tiny coils are a one off use I guess it’s just thrown in without care or abandon.

Imp Jar are obviously aware of the impact excessive sweetener has on coils. Their audience will be using the more expensive threaded, sealed or plug and play varieties. Those associated with MTL starter kits and pods.

So that’s been taken into account while offering the same strong Menthol and concentrated flavours disposables tend to use. I certainly didn’t notice any Caramelisation with the S series coils and little in the way of cotton discolouration.

At the same time we can’t really expect authentic tasting fruits since the idea is to capture the hearts of disposable lovers up and down the land. They’re already familiar with basic, generic tasting e-liquid and for them, if it ain’t broke don’t try to fix it!

So fair play to Imp Jar. There’s plenty of cash to be saved with their 50ml short fill range.

imp-jar-50-50-short-fill-e-liquid-reviewImp Jar have done a good job at replicating the disposable vape experience. If anything, their versions are slightly lower key when it comes to the sweeter aspects of the e-liquid. No bad thing in my opinion because we get the familiar flavour intensity, icy cold blast without excessive sweetener to ruin the overall vape. If you want to help the environment, dig out those old MTL starter kits and save lots of cash along the way, give the Imp Jar 15000 50ml short fills a look.

  1. My man really loves his watermelon flavors. With all these bar juice coming out it would be nice to get your advice on which brand you recommend overall or do a comparison between them. It sucks since I have to order the bar juices internationally from the UK and buy in larger amounts only to find out they don’t taste as good.

    • Hi, Bronchitis.
Thanks for dropping by. As you’ll know, flavour is subjective to the user and the device being used. However there’s much more common ground when it comes to disposable vape devices. They all pretty much output the same levels of power. So we return to your question of flavour. If Watermelon is your fellas choice then I would personally suggest looking through the IVG range of disposables. We’ve reviewed a few on the site.
IVG deliver a more natural tasting Watermelon in comparison to many others I’ve tried.
Having said that, I also return to the issue of subjectivity. Ask him to give them a try but don’t hold me accountable, in other words! lol

      Cheers,

      Neil C

  2. Hi.
My Name is Stephen O’Keeffe owner of IMP JAR Eliquids.
Firstly I would like to thank you for your honest review and commend you for your comments. I agree that personal taste is an opinion that some people agree or disagree with, I think you have been very fair and honest with your review so thanks again.

Just wanted to add a couple of points for your information.

Our website is currently under construction and will be up and running before the end of the month for retail and wholesale and we are live on Instagram, Facebook etc….

Imp Jar Eliquids are manufactured by Prohibition based in Maidstone Kent.

We have now collaborated directly with GeekVape and have a promotion offering a device, 50ml Short-Fill and 10ml 20mg Nic Salt Shot for £25.00 !! (Great value)
Our main reasons for bringing this to the market are as follows
    1. Help the environment (we have now redesigned our Boxes with a say NO to single use Devices)
    2. Save the customer money (with inflation at its highest in 40 years Energy bills going through the roof and interest rates rising) our cost for 60ml of liquid (including free nic shot) £9.99 compared to 30 x Disposable @ £5 = £150.00
    3. We believe that a lot of disposable vapours are Vaping to socialise 20mg of nicotine is overkill for this use so having the option of 0mg up To 3.3mg (20mg SALT) is appealing.
