At the beginning of 2020 IVG began selling its profiles in 41 airport terminals and 27 airports across the UK – including London, Gatwick, Manchester, Belfast and Edinburgh.
IVG has countless vaping awards under their belt and their name is firmly etched into the minds of many a seasoned vaper but how does this crystal cold quartet hold up?
It’s time we found out!
What Can We Expect From The IVG 50/50 Vape Juice Range?
The four profiles under review have recently been added to the IVG 50/50 vape juice line, and from what I can tell, Ice Menthol is the only flavour to currently make it across to their salts line.
IVG is catering for pretty much everyone inside the 50/50 range. There are beverage, spicy, fruity, tobacco, dessert and of course menthol sub groups to choose from.
They are all available in 10ml TPD compliant bottles at strengths of 3, 6, 12, and 18mg freebase nicotine.
Being a thin liquid ratio makes the IVG 50/50 range perfectly suited to a new vaper and the kind of low powered starter kits they’ll be using.
..I was hoping to avoid the word pod for once but expect them to be ideal for use with the IVG 50/50 range.
IVG 50/50 Vape Juice – Icy First Impressions
A suitably icy themed backdrop adorns all four bottles leaving me with little doubt as to their throat cooling properties.
The shiny, iridescent labels work very effectively and the font and sizing is clear even for my failing eyesight lol!
They’re rolled on neat and evenly with no “rucking” up of the material used.
(Believe me…the number of times I have seen this!)
The bottle tops are tamper proof as expected, taking a little more exertion to open the first time round.
Once the seal is broken the child safety works a dream. All good stuff and something that should never be overlooked in my opinion.
The attention to detail is extended to the outer cartons, helping them to stand out in any vape shop across the, well.. the world in this case.
Don’t Dis The Disclaimer!
As always taste is subjective. Much of which is dictated by the choice of vaping devices we use.
We should also remember that some people like cabbages, some don’t.
For this reason the review can only work as a guiding point. What can be clearly stated is the flavour quality, intensity, authenticity and vapour production.
For the purposes of review I’m going to be using the Wotofo MTL Cog, with a dual core fused Ni80 coil rated at 0.8ohm.
It’s a good fit for the thinner e-liquid ratio where mouth to lung set ups are preferable.
All four profiles were vaped at 20W with airflow set to mid Cog position for a relatively tight MTL. I used fresh cotton bacon V2 with each bottle.
Time to stop waffling on and get on with it lol!
IVG 50/50 Vape Juice – Ice Menthol
IVG Says:
Fresh punch of spearmint to tantalise your senses with a hint of bubble gum
I Say:
This will knock your socks off! It’s one of the simplest profiles to explain.
I get full on menthol in a very raw form, lining the back of the throat and nasal cavities with a soothing icy coating. It lingers for minutes after the final exhale such is its power and intensity.
Not being the biggest fan of menthol I found it overwhelming to begin with. Initially it gave me brain freeze but after a few hours I became acclimatized.
The description mentions spearmint with a hint of bubble gum but I couldn’t find their value anywhere. Maybe the extreme dominance of the menthol eclipsed their effectiveness.
It would’ve been nice if this straight menthol was laced with at least of one of them.
A palate cleanser for sure and if very strong menthol is your bag you’re going to love Ice Menthol.
IVG 50/50 Vape Juice – Just Menthol
IVG Says:
Classic and memorable menthol flavour, simplistic and refreshing
I Say:
Just Menthol is just that!
It provides a very smooth, clean and refreshing taste and combined with a minty sub note acts as a perfect vape for lovers of menthol.
There’s no nonsense with this one and it serves its purpose well. The simplicity makes it all the more effective.
There is a slight throat hit from the freebase nicotine during inhale but ex smokers are going to appreciate that.
The cooling effect is on par with that of Green Mint and still leaves an icy cold kiss on the lips while soothing the back of the throat.
As a menthol vape it really doesn’t get much better than this. As I’ve stated I’m not the biggest fan of this vape category but can appreciate the attention to detail of the blend, intensity and authenticity.
It revitalises and resets tired taste buds making it perfect as a palate cleanser.
Just Menthol emulates a menthol cigarette right down to the minor throat tickle.
IVG 50/50 Vape Juice – Green Mint
IVG Says:
Menthol with hints of eucalyptus and ice which creates an extra refreshing taste
I Say:
Green Mint lowers the intensity found with Ice Menthol which personally makes it a more comfortable vaping experience – no brain freeze with this one lol!
The menthol is still relatively strong but delicately laced with a green leaf mint to offer some variety to the overall flavour. The icy content still kisses the lips long after the exhale and a little more sweetness has been added.
Also, it doesn’t ravage the throat which is something I appreciate.
It’s a shame the mint lacks more clarity which I assume acts to represent the eucalyptus part of the flavour description.
In all fairness, IVG does state that it’s a hint and not a major player. It also does enough to soften the harsh edges of the menthol.
So IVG has offered an alternative menthol blend that vapes easier on the throat and sinuses while retaining an ice cool blast during exhale.
In my opinion, Green Mint is an excellent alternative for all ex menthol cigarette smokers.
IVG 50/50 Vape Juice – Iced Mint
IVG Says:
Refreshing ice mints with an icy touch
I Say:
There’s no mistaking the fresh mint in Iced Mint.
Whereas the others tested have subtle flavour references, here it takes centre stage. So what kind of mint are we experiencing?
That would be peppermint, without a doubt – and it’s big, it’s bold.
The lack of menthol content increases the flavour intensity of the mint which is no bad thing in my opinion.
So not only is it flavoursome it’s a smooth and refreshing exhale too with just a touch of sweetness to accompany the cooling hit during the inhale.
The icy content isn’t strong enough to sandpaper the back of the throat. There’s no icy kiss this time around. This alone makes Iced Mint ideal for those that enjoy a much less abrasive or intrusive vape.
By including dominant flavour notes and eradicating the menthol, Iced Mint is a profile I could easily find myself vaping on a regular basis.
Final Review Verdict
You’re going to have to be a fan of menthol vapes to get the best out of this quartet from IVG.
Ice Menthol takes it to the extreme, that’s for sure. It invaded my head, eyes, nose and throat! While I appreciate there will always be hard core fans of intense menthol vapes I’m not one of them. (A wimp if you will! lol).
It’s when I look at the quartet as a whole that I can see the clever way IVG has created them. There’s a broad spectrum to which the menthol works.
Green mint provides a finely tuned balance between an icy cool blast and rather subtle flavour tones.
Iced Mint gives the vaper much more flavour while reducing the cooling agent.
Just Menthol caters specifically to ex menthol smokers, so to summarise I feel there’s something here for everyone that loves this category.
The new vaper, the regular vaper and fans of extreme menthol intake, it would appear IVG have got it covered.
On a closing note, all four produce limited amounts of vapour production.
Ideal for a stealthy vape, and it also keeps the wife off my back lol!
