Today I’m going to be taking a look at the new Voopoo VMate E Pod Kit!
This is an elegant looking low powered kit that has a protective cap and a Leatherette facade.
Voopoo were originally setup 2010 as a medical electronic research company based out of Shenzhen China.
In 2016 the company acquired Woody Vapes and so started their prolific journey into the fascinating world of E-cigarettes!
Over the years Voopoo have given us many excellent series of kits from the Drag 3 to the VOOPOO Argus GT II and VMate 200w!
What Can We Expect From the Voopoo VMate E Kit?
I’ve got to hand it to Voopoo this looks simply gorgeous.
It’s available in 6 elegant colours and leather designs – White Inlaid Gold (under review), Red Inlaid Gold, Green Inlaid Gold, Classic Black, Classic Blue and Classic Brown.
The Voopoo VMate E’s elegant looking facade employs an auto draw fire system – so just inhale and let the device do the work.
Even though on the surface it may look like a standard pod system, Voopoo claim the VMate 2 cartridges adopt a “5A Freshness-Seal” technique – combining anti-dust, anti-light, anti-volatile, antioxidant and anti-bacterial functions.
The device comes with a cap, which if I understand what little information I have for this kit, also helps to keep the liquid fresher for longer!
This has a large internal 1200mAh battery and will fire at 20W with the aid of the new GENE.AI chipset.
There are LED indicator lights for battery and puff indication plus an airflow adjustment slider.
This product was sent to me direct from Voopoo, for the purpose of review!

Design and Build Quality
Again like my review for the VMate Infinity this kit is also due to be released soon and Voopoo have only put minimal information out there, so if my review is slightly inaccurate I beg your indulgence!
I was sent the standard 3ml version of the kit in “White and Gold” for this review. The TPD version will of course be 2ml.
The kit comes nicely presented in a card draw box with a spare pod, type C cable and manual included.
VMate V2 Cartridges
Voopoo include 2 different cartridges with this kit – 0.7Ω and a 1.2Ω.
Both of the pods are refillable with side fill ports that are covered with a silicone bung, that also has the Ohms of the coil moulded into it!
Both feature a non-replaceable ITO coil, once either pod comes to the end of its natural life you will have to purchase replacements!
The pod cartridges have a couple of small holes for airflow on the bottom of the cartridge.
The pods are made of plastic that have a smoky appearance and they both have good manufacturing quality!
Throughout my testing I have received a constant fair flavour and a good vaping experience from both pods. Apart from a little condensation I have suffered no leaks in the pod bay!
The antibacterial mouthpiece feels great to my lips. It is not only designed to be very ergonomic, but allows a safer and more comfortable vaping experience.
BTW the Pods for this device feature Voopoo’s new ITO tech and are fully compatible with the VMate Infinity and the older V Thru Pro.
Device
This device measures in at around 99mm tall with the pod and cap in place, the width of this device is about 30mm and has a depth of 17mm.
The VMate E Pod device has a Zinc Alloy casing with a faux leather sticker on the front.
I can’t tell you how much the device weighs as my scales are broken, but I can tell you its fairly heavy for a pod kit.
From The Top
Removing the cap and pod, the VMate E pod bay contains the normal spring loaded gold contact points and the pods are of a press fit design.
The front side of the device has a faux leather sticker that serves as decoration and for branding.
The leather near the bottom is stamped “Voopoo” and looking more towards the cap you will see the 4 indicator lights.
The back is printed with “VMate E” and Gene and includes the normal safety marks!
On one side of the device is a slide switch which controls the external airflow, the other side is printed with “Designed by Voopoo”.
You will find a 1.2A Type C Port for charging the large 1200mAh internal battery on the bottom of the mod.
Cap
Again made of Zinc Alloy the cap has a leather sticker on one side.
The cap will click into position over the pod/cartridge. It has a plug that goes in to the pod inside thereby sealing the pod from the world.
Not something I’ve seen before but there is a clever reason for the plug. Once in place it creates an airtight seal so the e-liquid in the pod itself is protected from oxidation and therefore preventing possible decay.
Plus the e-liquid level is visible without removal.
Basic Quick Start Guide
Voopoo VMate V2 Cartridges
Choose which Pod you want to use.
- Locate the fill port and fill the Pod with E-liquid.
- Let the cartridge stand for about 3 minutes before puffing for the first time, so the cotton can soak up more e-liquid, or risk burning out the coil.
- Place the cartridge into the bay, and you’ll be ready to go!

Make sure the device is fully charged before 1st use! This device came to me completely flat!
The VMate E device is auto draw meaning there is no fire button to push just toot away!

How Does the Voopoo VMate E Kit Perform?
For this example I will be using and filling the 0.7Ω pod with Kwik Vape “Cherry Bakewell”.
Voopoo VMate E – In Use
I’m not going to lie and say this is my type of device as it’s not, in general I prefer something with a bit more welly than 20W.
The kit however does function great, it has a smooth draw, fair flavour and vapour production!
The device to me feels great in the hand and the weight is fairly substantial for a pod kit.
With the airflow slide fully open the 0.7Ω pod delivers a fairly cloudy restricted direct to lung vape.
We tell you what the terms Direct To Lung (DTL) and Mouth To Lung (MTL) mean in our Guide To Vape Styles.
Adjusting the airflow down makes for a good mouth to lung style vape. I have used the 1.2Ω pod and like I said in my review for the Argus Pod I’m hard pressed to decide on flavour quality of either pod, I suspect this is down to the new ITO tech Voopoo have employed with the pods.
Because I personally prefer an airier vape I have been mainly using the 0.7Ω pod for a restricted DTL.
Battery and Liquid
As a MTL device using the 1.2Ω pod the 1200mAh battery lasted me an impressive 2 days before needing a recharge, granted this wasn’t exclusive use, and I’ve been using a 20mg Nic Salt Liquid in the 1.2Ω pod.
Nic salt liquid makes a great replacement for those darn disposable vapes.
For the 0.7Ω pod, I have been using it as a restricted DTL device with a 70/30 freebase Nic liquid, I found that with a full charge the battery lasted about 41/2 hours which I was amazed at.
I have been testing both pods for nearly 2 weeks they are still going strong.

I don’t have any real concerns with this kit.
Final Review Verdict
When I opened the box I was hit with the wow factor – I love a bit of bling and this kit gives that in spades!
The VMate E is a simple and easy kit to maintain and use – the kit really looks the biz.
The only bug I had with it was the battery was completely flat when it came to me but not a real concern!
Who Would I Recommend the Voopoo VMate E Kit To?
To those who want to feel like they have quality with a little elegance in their hand. It would be suitable for those new to vaping or even those who want to dispense with the disposable vapes or cigarettes!
Would I buy this device again due loss or damage?
I can’t say this device is for me but I do appreciate its looks and how it functions but for me “No”!
