The Digiflavor Drop RDA is another piece of vaping kit designed by a YouTube reviewer and this time by Brian over at the Vaping Chronicles is the collaborator.

This particular vape company seems to like teaming up with reviewers given their ties with RIP Trippers and the Pharaoh devices and of course Daniel from DJLSB Vapes and the very well received Aura RDA.

Some Say the Drop is the Perfect RDA – Let’s See IF That Stands Up

I took the Digiflavor Drop RDA to the recent Vaper Expo and it definitely impressed more than a few people there and the buzz on social media has been high with some in the vaping world calling this the ‘perfect RDA’.

High praise indeed – so let’s see how this bad boy vapes and if it can indeed be one of the best RDA for flavour?.

OK this was sent to me for the purpose of review and as always my thoughts and opinions are my own.

Inside the Box

I received the review version packaging I’m sure the retail will be different and maybe even come with a couple of coils ‘n cotton – OK inside you’ll find:

  • 1x DROP RDA
  • 1x 810 Drip tip
  • 1x 510 Drip tip adapter
  • 1x Allen key
  • 1x Spare parts pack
  • 1x User Manual
  • 1x Bottom feed positive pin

Drop RDA Specs

  • Size: 24 x 26.5 mm
  • Drip Tip 810 and 510 adaptor included

Key Features

This is a squonk friendly 24mm RDA and the pin is included – more on the squonk action later.

The deck has four large raised post holes and your coil legs trail down and onto the deck through the open cut-outs making trimming extremely easy.

It’s the airflow that’s interesting on this RDA – being stepped – and tagged by a few reviewers as looking like a six pack – or my belly in the mirror 35 years ago…

drop rda steps

The control of the amount of airflow you require is a brilliant touch and fully open really does give an extremely airy vape with huge cloud production.

I closed it right down and despite being a tight draw it was still a decent vape – almost like an MTL – almost 😉

drop rda

I can’t stress enough how good the airflow control is on this little beauty.

The design of the deck and posts means the world is literally your building oyster – single coil – double – treble and for the more adventurous even a quad coil set-up is possible with a bit of twisting snipping and manipulating!

This is definitely an RDA for the builders – though saying that the sheer size of the post holes and the handy way the legs trail down means newbies will have no trouble building on this whatsoever.

digiflavor-drop-rda-

The top cap is domed almost conical which many say improves the flavour and I can attest to this as I found the key feature above all others was the flavour off this – more on that soon.

The top cap also features a nifty little line-up / locking system that means you don’t have to fanny around lining up the airflow with your coils – and it stays in place nicely.

drop rda components

It takes all of the Goon style 810 drip tips I’ve popped on it and there’s a 510 adaptor for those of you who prefer that size.

I have to say I absolutely adore the clear acrylic drip tip that comes with the Drop RDA – very smart – there’s also a smaller bore ULTEM drip tip however they are not tips I enjoy…

All in all there’s a lot packed into this good looking nicely designed RDA.

Design and Build Quality

I’m always as brutally honest – though fair and constructive – as I can be in reviews…

So right off the bat I have to say I hadn’t heard of the Vaper Chronicles or indeed Brian OR watched the YouTube channel until I received this RDA – and I’m supposed to have my finger on the vaping pulse – oops!

What I can say is the Drop RDA is beautifully designed and machined extremely well.

drop rda breakdown

All the moving parts come apart nicely with just enough resistance.

The deck is spacey and being clumsy I love those coil leg gaps meaning you can snip the exact length you require without messing up – I mess up a lot on post less style decks trust me!

I say the deck has plenty of space and it really does – trust me if you have the urge 4 coils will fit in there easily enough and it’s a fair sized juice well too.drop rda deck with coil build

The Digiflavor Drop RDA is available in Black and Silver – as you can see from the pics I received the stainless steel version.

The black accent really does work well on mine and adds a touch of class – the black version features a silver accent which is also a pleasing design.

Given the one I received is a review version there’s only one Drop logo – the retail version is I believe going to have two.

I’m not sure of the laser etched logo placement just above the airflow as it makes it look rather busy especially as there’s plenty of space on the sides – but hey just a nitpick!

So build wise this one ticks all the boxes and design wise I love it – apart from the logo placement – so how does it vape?

How Does The Drop RDA by Digiflavor Perform?

First up as an out and out dripper this is a delight – especially as I’m not that much of a RDA fan [it’s only squonking that’s got my interest back lol].

The placement of the airflow means [touch wood] I’ve had no leaks or mess whatsoever by dripping straight down the drip tip – which as far as I’m concerned is a massive plus!

Indeed the whole design means whichever way you drip – down the chuff cap – painting the coils or whatever way you do it – the chances of over dripping are minimal thanks to the coils being spaced perfectly – a deep juice well and the clever airflow.

drop rda wicking

Wicking is as simple as it gets –I found having the cotton barely resting on the deck was the way I preferred – but hey there’s plenty of room in there to have your legs dangling or lying in the juice well!

I will say one thing – this RDA likes its juice – it’s certainly thirsty but it also seems to hold a phenomenal amount of e-liquid – and so long as you aren’t sloshing it around too much you won’t get the inevitable leaks.

Cloud production off this is extremely good and certainly as good – if not better as my go to RDAs the Augvape Druga and OBS Cheetah II Mini.

drop rda coil and deck

But it’s the flavour off the Drop RDA I’m enjoying – it really does make those flavours zing off the tongue from my Wick Liquor Contra e juice.

I took this to the recent Vaper Expo and sat with a group of extremely knowledgeable ‘drippers’ who all had a toot and were in a word ‘impressed’ [add a few positive expletives lol].

Squonking on the Drop RDA

The included squonk pin is simple enough to get in even for me with my rep lol and both 510’s protrude enough to make the Drop mech mod friendly.

I have to say the slightly raised squonk pin does work extremely well with the juice flowing evenly and I have tried to over-squonk however the height of the lowest line of airflow holes meant I really couldn’t make a mess unless I tried really – and I mean really hard.

drop rda squonk mode

The raised squonk pin also means you don’t drain the liquid back down the spout when you’ve squonked – which has been an issue I’ve found with a couple of RDAs and can lead to over squonking as you’re never quite sure if there’s enough e-liquid in the tank.

So squonking on this is a pleasure to say the least.

What I Like

I really like the design of this RDA – it’s simple yet elegant and nice size too.

Flavour wise I can’t fault it – it really does pick out layers of flavour I didn’t know existed in some of my go to juices – definitely one for the flavour chasers – though the cloud production is excellent too!

The deck is a pleasure to build on – the more adventurous are going to have a field day trying different coil set ups whilst beginners will find it a breeze to work on.

drop rda dripper

Squonkers will be every happy too as the e-liquid disperses beautifully and thanks to that raised squonk pin there’s always plenty of juice left in the well.

It’s obviously not going to be 100% leak proof – what RDA is?

However treat this sensibly and you really shouldn’t get any leakage which is a massive plus.

But it’s the airflow that stands out – that stepped design and six pack style is fantastic simple as that.

What I Don’t Like

Not a lot if I’m honest.

Not so sure about that logo – maybe if it had been engraved rather than laser etched it may have looked slightly better and of course moved to the side.

And hopefully and as is the norm these days the retail version may include a couple of coils and a bit of cotton!

Final Review Verdict

If you’re a dripper or a squonker or love trying out exotic coils with intricate builds then this is most definitely a RDA you need in your locker.

The flavour is superb – the vapour production is excellent and the deck is fantastic.

Great build quality – almost the perfect design and a generous juice well makes this one of the better RDAs I’ve had the pleasure of using.

So if I dropped it down a sink hole would I abseil down and retrieve it?

Absolutely – go buy the Digiflavor Drop RDA today!

I have simpler vape tastes these days - I never leave home without a Caliburn G, a Vaporesso Luxe 40 or Innokin EQ FLTR and a CBD vape pen or bottle of CBD drops in my rucksack...or indeed an Aspire Nautilus Prime X in my pocket... At home I'll be using various mods topped with the GeekVape Zeus X RTA or the Signature Mods Mono SQ topped with the Augvape BTFC RDA... I'm a former journalist and now a writer and sometimes author... I'm ex Army - adore dogs and never happier than hiking over the hills or with a good book on a beach.

digiflavour-drop-rda-reviewThe Drop RDA has been hailed as the 'perfect RDA' all I can say about that is it certainly comes close and I highly recommend it for both the squonkers and drippers out there...

  1. Got it by mail yesterday, after reading you review I decided to buy it. BOOM! A fantastic little RDA. Quality, could feel the quality just taking out the RDA from the box.

Coiled it, easy enough and I was vaping. Air flow control and the cover, everything have a feel of quality and I love it

    Cheers!

  2. My first RDA

After a fair bit of research, advice and youtubing, I decided to take the drop.
Fantastic rda, piece of pie to build on and, as the author mentioned, flavours zing off the tongue nicely. Within a week I’d installed a triple coil build in there. It’s just so easy to work with.

    10/10 in my opinion.

  3. Hi

I’ve just bought one of these and love it. One question though, do you know what the small screw on the bottom is for?

    Thanks for another excellent review

    • Hi and thanks – yeah it’s so you can remove the positive posts for cleaning and maintenance 🙂 It’s a cracking little RDA glad you’re enjoying it 🙂 Cheers!
